If a scientist conducts research because she wants to discover important facts about the world, that's an internal motive, since discovering facts is inherently related to the activity of research. If she conducts research because she wants to achieve scholarly renown, that's an instrumental motive, since the relation between fame and research is not so inherent. Often, people have both for doing things. What mix of motives--internal or instrumental or both--is most conducive to success? You might suppose that a scientist motivated by a desire to discover facts and by a desire to achieve renown will do better work than a scientist motivated by just one of those desires. Surely two motives are better than one. But as we and our colleagues argue in a paper newly published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, instrumental motives are not always an asset and can actually be counterproductive to success. We analyzed data drawn from 11320 cadets in nine entering classes at the United States Military Academy at West Point, all of whom rated how much each of a set of motives influenced their decision to attend the academy. It seems so hard for people to show their love and care towards others and to actually understand what others are going through. As a child I was taught to go out of my way to make someone else happy. My mom told me to say at least one kind word to someone else every day. I admit(承认)that it wasn't very easy to do. But as soon as you see the look of happiness in that person's eyes, you just want to do as much as you can do.I had an experience with a guy whom people were always making fun of. Every time I saw that happening, I knew in my heart that it was wrong. I decided I would try to be his friend. I started walking with him and introducing him to people around us. I was making him happy by just doing that. And I loved the fact that I was making a difference in his life. After a while I realized that he wasn't the kind of person everybody thought he was. We are still good friends today. People have almost completely stopped making fun of him. But he is still what he was. What changed was the attitudes of others towards him. From this experience I’ve learned to be more loving toward other people. What I did for my friend was so easy. And at the same time I had a lot of fun. So I hope that everyone can say a kind word to someone else at least once a day. More than one in ten adults said they regularly won’t say thank you if they are in a bad mood. Most people stated that saying thank you was something that their parents trained them. A huge 70 percent of those questioned will say thank you to a person’s face without even meaning it, while one fifth avoid(避免)saying it when they know they should. It seems our friends and family get the stress of our bad manners. Half of them admit (承认) they’re not good at thanking those closest to them. Many of them explain that they don’t say thank you because their family “already know I’m grateful”.When spoken words won’t do, it falls to a nice text to do the job for most people. One third will still send a handwritten thank-you note---but 45 percent admit it’s been more than six months since they tried tosend one.A quarter of British people say “thank you” with food, with 23 percent cooking a meal to show their appreciation to someone. According to a recent survey by Symantec Company, which makes many kinds of security(安全)software for home and business computers, there's a "huge difference between parents and their kids".Parents of children under the age of 18 were asked to estimate(估计)how much time their kids spent online each week. The parents said about three hours a week on average(平均).The kids-ages 8 to 17-who took the survey said they were spending an average of seven hours online each week."I really think that's because of the time they spend on their mobile phones and computers, when their parents don't even knowthey're online," says Symantec's Bill Rosenkrantz. "Remember, cellphones, PDAs and video game machines all make it possible to surf the Internet. You don't have to sit in front of a computer screen."And what are the kids doing on the Web? "They're doing things, like downloading music, they're going to social networking sites, they're actually shopping online when parents don't think they're doing those kinds of activities," says Rosenkrantz. "They're also, we think, doing some things with research papers and other kinds of activities with homework maybe where they're getting some information online and they really shouldn't be." Nearly a quarter of the kids (23 percent) night do things their parents would not agree. So how does a modern parent deal with this type of situation? "The first thing we strongly recommend is that parents spend fine with their children online," Rosenkrantz, says. "Sit down with them and understand what they're doing. Secondly, have a dialogue about it. Have a dialogue about what's an acceptable activity, what's an unacceptable activity, and set some ground rules-time online, things you can and can't do. Really have those conversations. That's the most important ." There are a lot of bad people on the Internet. An Instruction to English Language T eaching (ELT)Methodology--------------------------------------------------------------------I. Greeting & Self-introduction & Warm-up activity (V-sir)Questions: 1.Who am I?2) What am I?3) What am I dong now?4) Who are you? (Name list with English names)5) What are you?6) What are you doing now?7) What will it be most likely that you would become after you graduatefrom university?II. The Concept of Methodology1.All the students here should get ready to be a teacher after your graduation. So we are going to be on the same boat. And so we should make good preparations for our future teaching. Then we should know something about EL T Methodology. Here I have some more questions for you to think about.Question 1:What is Methodology and what aspect does it cover?Ref. Introduction (Ss: brainstorm)If you want to be a real Christian, you must be familiar with the Bible. EL T Methodology can be a bible for a language teacher. It is a course in English Language Teaching. It may help you to become a good language teacher. It is aimed at introducing some teaching theories and practical methods to English teachers. It deals with language and language learning and teaching. It provides with knowledge of lesson planning and classroom management. It focuses on the teaching of language components; that is, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. It also focuses on the teaching of the four language skills; that is, listening, speaking, reading and writing. It shows how these language components and skills are taught and practiced in andout of the classroom. It is about language assessmentIt introduces the users of the book to the evaluation, selection and adaptation of textbooks and so on.It also shows how teachers will be able to integrate these areas, language components and the teaching of the four language skills (or five: plus translation). So this course can be a very useful and helpful for a tomorrow teacher. But to be honest, sometimes it also can be such a course that could be a little tiresome and troublesome for the learners, especially for those who are not ready to be a teacher, even if it can’t be avoided because of your fate or your major. And I hope we will try our best to make it more practical and interesting for us to study. And I also expect you can benefit something from this course which will contribute much to your teaching practice, career and your future. But I don’t mean that you can be a top teache r if you can study this course very well because teaching can be quite complex in both practice and theory. That’s why some of you wouldn’t like to be a teacher and I don’t think it right to be angry with you. I just expect you to come here on time and put your heart into it while you are under this roof. Otherwise it will be dangerous and disastrous. Do you understand what I mean? And I will mean what I say.2.Therefore, we may make a good study of this course step by step from the very beginning of language learning.Question 2:Why are our children/people learning English?Students’ possible answers (Group work / Bb)They have to pass the examinations. They can help foreign visitors. It’s necessary if they want to enter university.Learning a foreign language is an intellectual challenge. They can use computers more easily. They need to keep in touch with what is going on in their profession worldwide. Clearly the aim of the class was not communicative at all. So next we should answer another question, which will help us to be clear about the aim of language teaching.Question 5 RrainstomWhat is language? (pai r work and report)(Karl Marx’s quotation)Bb: Language is a means of communication with other people.Question 6:So what is the aim or purpose of language teaching?Bb: Communication. The Evaluation of a T eacher in School1.Moral character2.Ability3.Work attendance4.AchievementIn brief:德、能、勤、绩It is not easy to be a VIP, but if we determine to do well in teaching and keep the following suggestion in our mind, surely we can do our teaching better and better. This way will make us a VIT.And some other social elementsAs people often say Intelligence Quotient, we also have to pay much attention to Emotion Quotient. That is to say, we can make a conclusion here like the following formula that may make a VIT (very important teacher):IQ +EQ = VIT/VIPIV. Four Basic Skills/Abilities of a T eache rHow to integrate IQ and EQ to help us to become a VIT is a big challenge for everybody. However, the four following basic skills of a teacher will also help us to achieve the basic effect in language teaching.1.Lesson planning (Prepare lessons creatively and imaginatively)2.Lesson presenting (Present lessons practically and theoretically)3.Lesson teaching (Teach lessons effectively and efficiently)4.Lesson assessing (Assess lessons objectively and impartially)That is to say, first, prepare your lesson well; second, make clear about your lesson to others; third, carry out your lesson plan well and fourth evaluate your lesson appropriately. Now, if you are quite clear about everything mentioned above, maybe it will be the time for you to try to open the door of your classroom. However, to be patient with this course can be more important than what you have known, because to know something doesn’t mean that you can do something, but not to know anything means that you can’t do anything well.P.S.Teachers’ 5 basic skills that have to be developed:1.Good command of the English language (+putonghua)2.Good BB handwriting3.Good lesson plans4.Good lessons5.Good sketchesGood articles, body language, sound command of modern teaching techniques, etc. V. Homework1.Preview Unit 1 Language and LearningGet ready to answer my so many questions because I want to know whether you have previewed the lesson and I expect you to think while you are learning something.2.Remember to take some notes that will help you to get interested in this course. And remember to copy down the new words that you will find so many in this book, which will also help you to improve your English..VI. Evaluation of the students’ learningNow please write down these questions in your notebook, and try to answer them by yourself.1.What have you learned in this lecture?2.What can be the most useful to you?3.What do you think you can apply to your teaching?4.How will you intend to deal with the problems if you have any in this course?5.What problems do you think you will meet with in your teaching? And how willyou deal with them? There is no born VIT. So there will be a very long way for us to go to make us perfect in teaching. However, if we try our best in both teaching theory and practice, three years will make a perfect teacher, I suppose.VII. General assignment for this course:1.Prepare a 45-minute English lesson (1st draft: weeks 1-3; Senior English Book 1and Book 2 with no less than 4 reference books; 2nd draft: weeks 4-5)2.Get ready to teach your senior English lesson. The others consider how to evaluatehis/her lesson and make some comments.3.Present your lesson to others by the end of this course.4.Be clear about how to prepare, teach, present and evaluate a lesson, and prepare forthe final exam.。

It was a drugstore. While Europeans were served at the counter, a long line of Africans queued at the window and often not only were kept waiting, but when their turn came to be served, were rudely treated by the shop assistants. One day I was determined to make a public protest against this kind of thing, and many of the schoolboys in my class followed me to the store and waited outside to see what would happen when I went in.I simply went into the shop and asked the manager politely for some medicine. As soon as he saw me standing in the place where only European customers were allowed to stand, he shouted at me in a bastard language that is only used by an employer when speaking to his servants.I stood at the counter and politely requested in English that I should be served. The manager became exasperated and said to me in English, "Even though you stand there till Christmas I will never serve you."I went to the District commissioner's office. Fortunately the District Commissioner was out, for he was one of the old schools; however, I saw a young District Officer who was a friend of mine. He was very concerned to hear my story and told me that if ever I wanted anything more from the drugstore, all I had to do was come to him personally and he would buy my medicine for me. I protested that that was not good enough. I asked him to accompany me back to the store and to make a protest to the manager. This he did, and I well remember him saying tothe manager, "Here is Mr. Kaunda who is a responsible member of the Urban Advisory Council, and you treat him like a common servant. "The manager of the drugstore apologized and said, "If only he had introduced himself and explained who he was, then, of course I should have given him proper service. "I had to explain once again that he had missed my point. Why should I have to introduce myself every time I went into a store? I want to prove that any man of any color, whatever his position, should have the right to go into any shop and buy what he wanted. Why didn't the writer wait at the window of the drugstore like other black African?→ ←A. Because he thought he was educated and should be treated differently.B. Mobile of rice has become a solution that provides users with convenient, prompt, safe, reliable, and reasonably priced communications and office faculty anywhere anytime via the support of mobile interconnection platform(MIP)and its applications systems. When you leave your office to attend meetings or travel on business, what would happen to your business routine? Of course, faxes and e-mails would be still sent to your fax machine or e-mail box, but you can't read them and make prompt reaction timely. When your clients need you to make some urgent modifications on your work and you are neither in the office nor carrying relevant documents, what can you do? Maybe you have to say "sorry" to the clients. But, your business will be affected, the clients will be unhappy and disappointed because of your delay, and you will lose a lot of business opportunities. In fact, very frequently, you need to check, reply, distribute, display, modify, or read some materials when you are not in your office. You must get out of this dilemma. The best solution to normally handle your business anywhere anytime and not to disappoint your clients is to let your office "move" with you. Thus, you can have convenient, prompt, safe, reliable, and reasonably priced communications and office faculty anywhere anytime. With the development of communications technology, network application, and wireless interconnection, mobile office has become simpler and smaller, and even can be realized via one mobile phone with data communications function. Thus, mobile office has already been put into your pocket, and office mobility has been realized.Mobile office has provided people with convenient, casual working environment, but at the same time, it still has some unsatisfactory aspects such as mismatching equipment interface(接口,界面)and inadequate battery. Nevertheless, we believe that with technical progress, people can certainly overcome all kinds of difficulties. Mobile office will make your career unimpeded, and will realize the dream of completely free communication. Users will enjoy more colorful life and better working environment, and users' living standard, working efficiency, and even enterprises' production efficiency will certainly be immensely raised. Today, unexpected numbers of young adults are living with their parents, "there is a major shift in the middle class," declares sociologist Allan Schnaiberg of Northwestern University, whose son, 19, moved back in after an absence of eight months.Analysts cite a variety of reasons for this return to the nest. The marriage age is rising, a condition that makes home and its pleasantness particularly attractive to young people.A high divorce rate and a declining remarriage rate are sending economically pressed and emotionally hurt survivors back to parental shelters. For some, the expense of anaway-from-home college education has become so excessively great that many students now attend local schools. Even after graduation, young people find their wings clipped by skyrocketing housing costs.Living at home, says Knighton, a school teacher, continues to give her security and moral support. Her mother agreed, "Its ridiculous for the kids to pay all that money for rent. It makes sense for kids to stay at home. " But sharing the family home requires adjustments for all. There are the hassles over bathrooms, telephones and privacy. Some families, however, manage the delicate balancing act. But for others, it proves too difficult. Michelle Del Turco,24, has been home three times and left three times. "What I considered a social drink, my dad considered an alcohol problem," she explains. "He never liked anyone I dated, so I either had to hide away or meet them at friends house.Just how long should adult children live with their parents before moving on? Mostpsychologists feel lengthy home comings are a mistake. Children, struggling to establish separate identities, can end up with "a sense of inadequacy, defeat and failure." And aging parents, who should be enjoying some financial and personal freedom, find themselves stuck with responsibilities. Many agree that brief visits, however, can work beneficially. One of the disadvantages of young adults returning to stay with their parents isthat→←.A. there will inevitably be inconveniences in every day lifeB. most parents find it difficult to keep a bigger family goingC. the young adults tend to be overprotected by their parentsD. public opinion is against young adults staying with their parents9.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) Polyester (聚酯)is now being used for bottles. ICI, the chemicals and plastics company, believes that it is now beginning to break the grip of glass on the bottle business and thus take advantage of this huge market. All the plastics manufacturers have been experiencing hard times as their traditional products have been doing badly world-wide for the last few years. Between 1982 and 1984 the Plastics Division of ICI had lost a hundred and twenty million dollars, and they felt that the most hopeful new market was in packaging, bottles and cans.Since 1982 it has opened three new factories producing "Melinar", the raw material from which high quality polyester bottles are made. The polyester bottle was born in the 1970s, when soft drinks companies like Coca Cola started selling their drinks in giant two-liter containers. Because of the build-up of the pressure of gas in these large containers, glass was unsuitable. Nor was PVC, the plastic which had been used for bottles since the 1960s, suitable for drinks with gas in them, A new plastic had to be made.Glass is still cheaper for the smaller bottles, and will continue to be so unless oil and plastic become much cheaper, but plastic does well for the larger sizes.Polyester bottles are virtually unbreakable. The manufacturers claim they are also lighter, less noisy when being handled, and can be reused. Shopkeepers and other business people are unlikely to object to a change from glass to polyester, since these bottles mean few breakages, which are costly and time-consuming. The public, though, have been more difficult to persuade. ICIs commercial department is developing different bottles with interesting shapes, to try and make them visually more attractive to the public. The next step could be to develop a plastic which could replace tins for food. The problem here is the high temperatures necessary for cooking the food in the container. Why aren’t all bottles now made of polyester?_→←A. The price of oil and plastic has risen.B. It is not suitable for containing gassy drinks.C. The public like traditional glass bottles.D. Shop-keepers dislike reusable bottles.10.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) The mode of operation in passing laws in the U. S. And yet it is central to a lasting, satisfying marriage. What is this thing called respect? It is not the same as admiration. "When you fall in love, you admire the other, "says Dr. Alexandra Symonds, associate clinical professor of psychiatryat the New York University, School of Medicine.” You look up to someone-much the way a child idealizes a parent.”Such romantic admiration thrives and even depends on the illusion that he or she is "perfect for you.95 Thafs why it doesnt last. "You come to see that the person you married isnt exactly what you expected.", says Francine Klagsbrun. "There are differences of personality, of approaches to life, different ways of doing things. ”You can try to change your mate back into your fantasy. But for the marriage to last and grow its better to →agree to disagree←, to learn to let each other be. Only by taking this path can you begin to develop real respect toward each other.“I have one patient whose husband loves sports, especially tennis,”says Dr. Symonds.” She would prefer to go to the theatre, or to stay at home and read. She could simply say, ‘We have different tastes.’ Instead, she says, How can he waste his time and money that way? She puts him down."The put-down is the chief symptom and weapon of lack of respect or contempt. "Contempt is the wors t kind of emotion.” says Symonds. "You feel the other person has no worth.’ We’ve all seen marriages in which one or both partners attack the other quite savagely in the guise of Its for your own good. Any "good" is→ undone ←by the hostile tone. A wife nag s her husband to be more ambitious and makes him feel like a failure because he prefers craftsman- ship or community projects to the competitive business world. Or a husband accuses his wife of wasting time whenever she gets together with a friend. "Why isnt she doing something productive?"In good marriage partners nurture each others self-esteem. They may express humorous incomprehension of one anothers preferences, but they never make the other person feel like an idiot. "Martyrs idea of a vacation is to go down to the basement on a sunny day and spend time woodworking, "says Dr. Alexandra Symonds of her husband, psychiatrist and surgeon Martin Symond. But theres fondness in the gibes and firm support for the others right to be himself. Respect is expressed in words like. ul dont want to go to the concert, but you have a great And occasionally, "Sure, III come with you. Just dont him angry if I fall asleep. " Respect, then is appreciation of the separateness of the other person, of the ways in which he or she is unique. These things take time to discover and accept.Thats the paradox of a good marriage: only by respecting each other as you are do you open the door to change. The root meaning of the word respect is "to look at". Respect is a clear yet loving eye. It sees what is really there, but it also sees what is potentially there and helps bring it to fruition. Respect is the art of love by which married couples honor what is unique and best in each other. The underlined word "undone" in Paragraph 7 suggests that_____.A. what you said reversed what you meantB. what you said was not what you meantC. what you said meant nothing to your partnerD. what you said failed to touch the heart of your partner17.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) It is believed that the feeding patterns parents→ ←on their children can determine their adolescent and adult eating habits.A. compelB. imposeC. evokeD. necessitate18.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) —Do you know if Linda is willing to take charge of the program?—→ ←, does it?A. Pruning involves the cutting away of overgrown and unwanted branches, and the inexperienced gardener can be encouraged by the thought that more damage results from doing it unnecessarily than from leaving the tree to grow in its own way.First, pruning may be done to make sure that trees have a desired shape or size. The object may be to get a tree of the right height, and at the same time to help the growth of small side branches which will thicken its appearance or give it a special shape. Secondly, pruning may be done to make the tree healthier. You may cut diseased or dead wood, or branches that are rubbing against each other and thus cause wounds. The health of a tree may be encouraged by removing branches that are blocking up the centre and so preventing the free movement of air.One result of pruning is that an open wound is left on the tree and this provides an easy entry for disease, but it is a wound that will heal. Often there is a race between the healing and the disease as to whether the tree will live or die, so that there is a period when the tree is at risk. It should be the aim of every gardener to reduce which has been pruned smooth and clean, for healing will be slowed down by roughness. You should allow the cut surface to dry for a few hurts and then paint it with one of the substances available from gardenshops produced especially for this purpose. Pruning is usually without interference fromthe leaves and also it is very unlikely that the cuts you make will bleed If this does happen,it is, of course, impossible to paint them properly. Pruning should be done to→ ←.A. make the tree grow tallerB. improve the shape of the treeC. get rid of the small branchesD. make the small branches thicker22.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) Recent research has claimed that an excess of positive ionsin the air can have an ill effect on peopled physical or psychological health. What are positive ions? Well, the air is full of ions, electrically charged particles, and generallythere is a rough balance between the positive and the negative charged. But sometimes this balance becomes disturbed and a larger proportion of positive ions are found. This happens naturally before thunderstorm, earthquakes when winds such as the Mistral, Hamsin or Sharavare blowing in certain countries. Or it can be caused by a build-up of static electricity indoors from carpets or clothing made of man-made fibers, or from TV sets, duplicators or computer display screens. When a large number of positive ions are present in the air, many people experience un- pleasant effects such as headaches, fatigue, irritability, and some particularly sensitive people suffer nausea or even mental disturbance. Animals are also affected, particularly before earth- quakes snakes have been observed to come out of hibernation, rats to flee fromtheir burrows, dogs howl and cats jump about unaccountably. This has led the US Geographical Survey to fund a network of volunteers to watch animals in an effort to foresee such disasters before they hit vulnerable areas such as California.Conversely, when large numbers of negative ions are present, then people have a feeling ofwell-being. Natural conditions that produce these large amounts are near the sea, close to waterfalls or fountains, or in any place where water is sprayed, or forms a spray. This probably accounts for the beneficial effect of a holiday by the sea, or in the mountainswith tumbling streams or waterfalls. To increase the supply of negative ions indoors, some scientists recommend the use of ionizers: small portable machines, which generate negative ions. They claim that ionizers not onlydean and refresh the air but also improve the health of people sensitive to excess positive ions. Of course, there are the detractors, other scientists, who dismiss such claims andare skeptical about negative/positive ion research. Therefore, people can only make up theirown minds by observing the effects on themselves, or on others, of a negative rich or poor environment. My job was to make classroom visits and encourage implementing a training program focusing on language arts, ideas that would empower students to feel good about them and take charge of their lives. Donna was one of the volunteer teachers in this project.I sat in the back and watched. All the students were working on the task, filling their notebook paper with thoughts and ideas. A student next to me was filling her page with "I can’t kick the soccer ball." I can’t do long division with more than three numerals." He r page was half full and she showed no signs of letting up. I walked down the row glancing at students papers. Everyone was writing down things they couldnt do.By this time the activity engaged my curiosity. I decided to check with the teacher to see what was going on but I noticed she too was busy writing "I cant get Johns mother to come for a teacher conference." "I cant get my daughter to put gas in the car," "I cant..."Curious and puzzled about what they were doing, I returned to my seat and continued my observations.Students wrote for another ten minutes. She put the lid on the box, tucked it under her arm and headed out the door and down the hail.Students followed her. I followed the students. Half way down the hall way, Donna entered the custodians room, came out with a shovel, and marched the students out to the farthest comer of the playground. There they began to dig. They were going to bury their "I Cant’s"The digging took over then minutes with dirt. Students stood around the freshly dug grave. At this point Donna announced, "Boys and girls, please join hands and bow your heads." They quickly formed a circle around the grave. They lowered their heads and waited. Donna delivered the eulogy. "Friends, we gathered here today to honor the memory of I Cant. While he was with us on earth, he touched the lives of everyone, some more than others. We have provided I Cant with a final resting place and a headstone that contains his epitaph. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, I Cant, I Will, and Im going to right away. They are not as well known as their famous relative and are certainly not as strong and powerful. Perhaps some day, with your help, they will make an even bigger mark on the world. The 18-acre site includes four buildings – the Secretariat, the General Assembly, the Conference building, and the Dag Hammarskjold Library. The United Nations (UN) currently has 192 members, and the flags of those nations line the plaza in front of the General Assembly Hall and Secretariat. The row of flags, displayed in English alphabetical order, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, stretches from 48th Street to 42nd Street. The decision to locate United Nations Headquarters in the United States was made in 1946 by the UN General Assembly, then meeting in London. Several U.S. locations were considered, but a donation of 8.5 million dollars from philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr. secured the purchase of land at the present site. And the City of New York provided a gift of additional land. The UN ple* was designed by an international team of prominent architects. American Wallace K. Harrison was named chief architect, and ten other countries each nominated an architect to the Board of Design Consultants. The 11 architects began the project in early 1947. The U.S. government provided an interest-free loan to the United Nations for the cost of construction, which began in 1949.The Secretariat Building, which houses the UN administrative offices, was pleted in 1950, and United Nations Headquarters officially opened in 1951. The Library was dedicated in 1961. Over the years, changes have been made inside the buildings to acmodate the e*panded membership of the United Nations. Today the General Assembly Hall, the largest conference room, seats more than 1,800 people. The UN Headquarters site is international territory owned by the member nations. 大二上课有趣吗英语作文

大二上课有趣吗英语作文

大二上课有趣吗英语作文Oh, man, let me tell you, English class in my sophomore year is a blast! The teacher is so cool, and she always comes up with the most interesting activities. We do a lot of group discussions and role plays, which really help us improve our speaking and listening skills. Plus, we get to watch movies and analyze the language and culture in them. It's way better than just sitting and listening to lectures all day.I have to admit, though, sometimes the grammar lessons can be a bit dull. I mean, who really enjoys learning about past perfect tense and conditional sentences? But the teacher tries to make it fun by using games and interactive exercises. And hey, I know it's important stuff, so I try to stay engaged. One thing I really love about English class is the chance to read and discuss literature. We've read some amazing novels and short stories that have really made methink about life and society. It's cool to hear everyone's different interpretations and ideas about the texts. And the debates we have about them can get pretty intense, but in a good way.You know what's also cool? The teacher often brings in guest speakers from different English-speaking countries to talk about their cultures and experiences. It's so interesting to hear about life in places like the UK, the US, and Australia. It really opens my eyes to the diversity of the English-speaking world.Overall, I'd say English class in my sophomore year is definitely a highlight of my week. It's not just about learning the language, but also about exploring new ideas and perspectives. And that's what education should be all about, right?。

新概念二第67课作文答案

新概念二第67课作文答案

新概念二第67课作文答案英文回答:In Lesson 67 of New Concept English, the topic is about the difficulties of learning a foreign language. Learning a foreign language can be a challenging task, but it is also a rewarding experience. As a language learner myself, I have encountered various difficulties along the way.One of the difficulties I faced was pronunciation. English has many sounds that do not exist in my native language, so it was hard for me to pronounce certain words correctly. For example, the "th" sound in words like "think" and "thought" was particularly challenging for me.I often ended up saying "sink" instead of "think" and "sought" instead of "thought". However, with practice and the help of a language tutor, I was able to improve my pronunciation over time.Another difficulty I encountered was vocabulary.English has a vast number of words, and it was overwhelming to learn and remember them all. I often found myself forgetting words or struggling to find the right word to express my thoughts. To overcome this, I started using flashcards and creating vocabulary lists. I also made an effort to read more English books and articles to expand my vocabulary. Gradually, my vocabulary improved, and I became more confident in my ability to express myself in English.Grammar was also a challenge for me. English grammar rules are quite different from those in my native language, and I often made mistakes in sentence structure and verb tenses. For example, I used to say "I have been studied English" instead of "I have been studying English". To overcome this, I studied grammar books, took online grammar courses, and practiced writing sentences and paragraphs. With time and practice, my grammar skills improved, and I became more proficient in constructing grammatically correct sentences.中文回答:在《新概念英语》第67课中,讨论了学习外语的困难。

I am very happy to have this opportunity to communicate with you!As a first-line teachers, in English reading teaching, I have too many doubts and thinking, there are many experiences and thoughts, hope that through this platform to communicate with you today and resonate!Said ashamed regret, also in a few years ago, I am this kind of treatment of reading class: clear the obstacles new words first, listen to the tape and read, read silently to find phrases, sentence by sentence translation and interpretation of the key sentence patterns.Through the years of learning, training, and thinking unconsciously, I have changed the nature of how I process reading and reading materials. Moon so I'm not only thank to my attention and develop, more to thank her for us has conducted a diversity of teaching and researching activities, made me open the vision, the growth stories. There is a saying that goes well: horizon. I used to like to come out for graduate school, but the purpose is more utilitarian: come out, meet classmates and friends for a long time, go home early or go shopping. And now almost every time I get to the end of my teaching, I will go to the Internet to check the relevant material so that I can have a further understanding and understanding of the women Istudy. Moreover, the training content is highly targeted and practical, which can be applied in an immediate way and played a role in teaching. My comprehension of reading course teaching, one, the reading material is the carrier, not the main body. Second, we should make full use of the textbook reading resources to improve students' reading ability. To guide and guide students to develop different reading strategies and adopt corresponding reading strategies according to different reading purposes. 4, gradually help students to break bad or inappropriate reading methods. Here are some of the light and concrete steps I have made in teaching, according to the new curriculum standards and reading passages in the textbook:The new English curriculum standard, described the goal reading skills as: read all kinds of style, and all kinds of English poetry, newspapers and magazines, and originalnon-professional technical data such as commodity specification and understand the effect, pick out the meaning, the intention of the author or obtain information, views and attitudes. According to the situation, the context and word formation, sentence structure to guess the meaning of new words or phrases, the analysis of sentence structure and understand the sentence, straighten out the event order, characters, plot development and predict events may result. Use reference materials, reference books, network and other resources, channel, reasoning, extract and filter, reorganize processing information, solve various problems. In turn, develop goodreading habits, read strategies, form reading interests, and eventually improve reading ability. One, the reading material is the carrier, not the main body.English reading as an important part of language skills, as one of the main steps of language input, occupies an important position in English teaching famous scholar Mr Crook has repeatedly advocated to read a lot of English as a major means of English teaching. It is. The main purpose of reading the course is not to dismember the text and then to study the trivial language, but to read the passage,For more information, knowledge, and expand the field of vision and stimulate interest in learning, improve humanities accomplishment, improve the ability of analysis, thinking ability and judgment, but also improve reading ability. In today's Reading class nine unit Reading, for example: learn this lesson, students are the biggest harvest should be: can understand and applying mind mapping to help Reading and learning, and deepen the understanding of basketball and its history.Second, we should make full use of the textbook reading resources to improve students' reading ability. Guide and guide students to develop different reading strategies and adopt corresponding reading strategies according to different reading objectives. The reading passage in the textbook is typicaland time and representativeness. The blind choice is not better than the full development of the textbook resources. So whether it's a triple-a in the book, or reading our 26-middle class, we've developed a very effective, easy-to-operate teaching method. Can show the student body effect, stimulate the student to read the interest,Promote the student experience participation, form the students' good reading habits and combine the midterm. Here's how to do this:1. Rapid extensive reading (fast) extensive reading answer "overall comprehension problem"8 units such as I 'll send you a photo of Lucky. I set up the whole question: "What kind of letter do you think it is? Still have 1 unit How do we deal with our problems? The question is What's the article about? How can we deal with our problems? After students' fast reading, answer the above" big problem "of this discourse has the overall impression and deepen the understanding of the key paragraphs and the whole article.2. Skimming (skimming)Skimming is also called the jump to read (reading) and skipping or browse (glancing), is a kind of special, very practical fast reading skills. Skimming, refers to the reading at the speed of as soon as possible, like a bird's eye view from the plane (bird 's eye view) clearly marked on the ground, quickly to get the main ideas of the text or central idea. Inother words, skimming is asking the reader to read selectively, skipping certain details to catch the article and speed up reading. There are three characteristics: What's the aim of basketball? Why is the Berlin Olympic Games important for basketball?(1) read a large amount of material at an extremely fast pace, looking for the main information and a small amount of information that is literally or in fact. (2) it is possible to skip a certain part or part of the reading (3) to adjust the reading speed in a flexible way, depending on the difficulty and purpose of the article.skimming can use the following techniques: (1) to take advantage of the printing details (typegraphical details), such as book or article title, subtitle, headings, italics, American, footnotes, punctuation, etc, to predict skimming books and articles (preview skimming). The prediction is to understand the author's thinking, the mode of writing, to grasp the general idea, the relevant details and their relation. How do we deal with our problems? It is the most obvious.(2) by normal reading speed (200 ~ 250 WPM), read the article at the beginning of the first, second, to grasp the main ideas of the text and background, the author of the article style, tone or tone, etc.(3) the theme of the reading passages and conclusion sentences. Grasp the topic sentence and grasp the general idea of the paragraph, then skip the details to find the speed. Forexample 7 units I 'd love to sail across indicates the Pacific.(4) pay attention to twist words and sequence. The inflection words, such as however, are, in addition; First, first, second, etc.(5) if there is no need to, don't need to read the details.3. read (Scanning)Read and read, like skimming, reading is a fast reading skill. Skilled readers are good at using reading to get specific information to improve their reading efficiency. For reading is a kind of from large amounts of data quickly find a particular fact or a particular information, such as characters, events, time, place, number, etc., but not for other part slightly don't read the fast reading method. With this approach, readers will be able to skim as much of the printed material as possible in the shortest amount of time and find the information they need. For example, in the station looking for the operation of a train or car, look for one of the flight time at the airport, in the library to find books and periodicals directory, to look for in the article offer a certain date, name, Numbers, or number, etc., can use this method.as a kind of fast reading skills to find information, find reading requires both speed and the accuracy of the requirements for reading again. Specifically, the search for reading has a clear purpose and a specific answer to the question. As a result,You can direct the whole paragraph of text into the brain without having to read a sentence. Line of sight on the printed material pass, once found related content, will, will remember or remove it, not only ensure find reading speed, and accurate, so find reading skills is of great practical value. found reading is different from skimming. When you read a little, the reader knows nothing about the material, while the reader is informed of the material. For example, read the phone number book, the reader knows the person's name, and the telephone directory is arranged in alphabetical order. Like this, when looking for a Jackson wanted on the phone, you can use the page at the top of the logo, in alphabetical order by surname again soon turn to beginning with J are the pages, so as to find Jackson's name call page number. As for the reading method, I advocate a breath read on, even if a few words in the way, as long as does not affect the overall understanding of the content, you don't have to stop to look up dictionary, there is no need to see more good sentences stopped to copy. Because that can interrupt your thoughts, affect your reading speed, and even kill your interest in reading. Don't assume that reading a book without writing a word or a sentence is nothing. The main purpose of reading is to "sublimate" the language, which is to gain the sense of language. Reading requires "quantity", not a lot of language "input", it is difficult to learn English well. So how do you combine theability to improve with our midterm exam? What I do is read the text and read it in the middle of the exam.Do you know how to say tea in English? Green tea? Black tea? Do you like drinking tea? Is it healthy or not? What's the article about? Who invented tea? Who was tea invented by? By whom was tea invented? What was Shengnong doing when he invented tea? What fell into the drinking water? When the was tea invented? Note that this is also a problem that requires students to understand the logic of each sentence in the paragraph. Then there is the question of the student, the words that can't be pronounced, the words that don't understand, the place where there might be a mistake... Finally, it is the practice of translating the key sentences into the English translation of the Chinese translation, and practicing the English translation of the sentences that are critical or understanding the full text. Finally, you can do some writing exercises.4, gradually help students to break bad or inappropriate reading methods(1) to "read" means to "pay attention" by pointing at the passage of the passage with a finger or pen. When a new word is encountered, it pauses and cannot continue reading on the basis of an understanding. It also affects the meaning of the whole sentence or the whole paragraph.(2) "lip reading", that is, some students are reading in the temple like to read out loud, or even not phonate, lipsperistalsis, or mind thinking about pronunciation, also affect the brain's mind of intangible speed.(3) "return to read", also called "instant re-reading", is the first or even first reading of a new word or unfamiliar phrase in the reading. There are also quite a few students who have a mental set of reading and memory, which means that they think they will not understand the first time, so they waste a lot of time over and over again.(4) in the course of reading, the translation of the word of the mouth is carried out continuously in the course of reading. Since there is no master correct reading methods, accustomed to without a limited amount of time, for a small piece of paper, led to the habit of reading to accept information word for word. In reading English material or test process there are a lot of people feel their reading speed is really need to keep up with, some students thought that is not my English foundation,Then desperately memorizing words, in fact, if you can carry on fast reading training in a right way, even on the basis of the original can make significant improvement in the speed of reading, what's more, many cases are not EnglishThe basics of language."。

Most students agree that it helps them develop the habits of reading aloud and having conversations in English which in return improves their English level.Students come to realize that oral English is as important as reading and writing. In addition, the speaking test pushes our teachers to focus more on teaching spoken English, makes the class more interesting and encourages teachers to improve their own spoken language skills.Nowadays, English is considered to be a global language so we can use it to communicate with people from other countries more easily. Therefore, we believe that more attention should be given to teaching and learning spoken English and this can be done by testing spoken English.二、实战演练: 基础写作------ 应用文: 建议倡议[相关短语]1. cover topics like... 涵盖的主题有……2. arouse one’s interest激发某人的兴趣3. get involved in /participate in/take part in参与,涉及4. be well-received / be popular with 广受欢迎5. make some suggestions 提一些建议6. protect our environment 保护我们的环境7. the environmental pollution 环境污染8. be of great benefit to... 对……大有好处9. get well-prepared (for)(为……)做好充分的准备10. take responsibility to do sth. 有责任做某事11. the coming speech contest 即将到来的演讲比赛12. leave a deep impression on 给……留下深刻的印象13. take my suggestion into consideration 考虑我的建议14. have the chance to do sth. 有机会做某事15. help students improve their English 帮助学生提高英语水平[相关句式]1. Some Thoughts on Sight Teaching of English情景教学法在英语教学中的运用抚州市临川区孝桥小学罗秋香Abstract: with the development of economics, globalization in economics and politics becomes popular; the communication between nations is closer and closer. English is a kind of world language, which requires us a higher command in using English. However, there is a phenomenon that our students are good at writing English not using it. As a result, it is possible to set up a situation to practice English while they learn it. The author thinks that Sight Teaching of English is a good teaching method to solve students’ low oral English ability. The following part is about author’s some thoughts on Sight Teaching of English.

Key words: English Teaching method, Situational teaching method, to apply

I’m ……; I’m from……。

学生在挑选中会学习air-conditioner(空调),curtain(窗帘),desk(桌子),wardrobe(衣橱)等单词。
