Five years passed quickly. The wise men returned with their camels, carrying 5000 books full of wisdom. Seeing so many
books, the king was so shocked that he didn’t know how to start. So he ordered the wise men to condense the books and bring them back to him. Another five years passed. The wise men again went to see the king, this time bringing 500 books, but the king still thought there were too many. Five more years passed. The wise men brought back 50 books. At this time, the king was troubled with many problems, but he still felt were too many books.
During the next few years, the wise men worked hard to condense the 50 books into one book and present it to the king. The king took no interest in reading this book, nor did he have time to learn from it. More problems broke out in his kingdom---his enemies endlessly attacked and diseases affected his people. He did not have the wisdom to solve these problems. Finally, the king was killed by a ruler in the neighbour country and his country was destroyed.

They used the coca bean(可可豆) to make a chocolate drink and they enjoyed it very much. Many years later, the coca bean was brought to other countries and people came to love the taste of chocolate.
In 1824, John Cadbury opened a small shop in British. One of the things he sold was chocolate drink. In 1831, he opened a factory to make chocolate drink. 18、Text messaging, or "texting", which allows people to send and receive messages on mobile phones, becomes very popular today.
The advantages of texting are obvious. Texting helps to save money. If you have a few words to greet your families and friends on their birthdays or on some important festivals, sending messages can be cheaper than phone calling. Texting helps to save time. Even if you want to send a message to 100 people, you can do it in one second. Texting helps you to "talk" to someone when he is too busy to answer the phone. Texting can also help you to "talk" to someone secretly if you don't want others to hear what you are talking on the phone. These advantages are so amazing that many people are crazy about it. They hold mobile phones in hands all day long, send dozens of messages each day, and even text while driving or walking. However, texting has its disadvantage. Junk messages may come into your mobile phone box now and then. When your phone box gets too full, you can't receive any more messages. You may therefore miss some important information.
What's more, if you don't do texting properly, for example, texting while driving or walking, it can be dangerous. It can cause____and even death. It was reported that about 6,000 people were killed and half a million were injured for this reason each year. In Fort Lee, a small town in New Jersey, USA, three people died because they walked into traffic while
texting in 2013. Two researchers at Stony Brook University, New York found that texters are 60% more probably to have an accident than others. When people are texting, they don't notice other people or things around them. To reduce traffic accidents, all drivers of the UN are now not allowed to text while driving. About 32 countries have passed laws restricting(限制) the use of mobile phones while driving.

19、Dear Stephen,
I am writing to tell you about my pr oblem with my teacher. I don’t know how to deal with it and would like your help. You know I am crazy about space travel. In my spare time I often go to the library to find something to read. This makes my teacher very angry. To him, good marks are everything and I should spend more time on my lessons, even at weekends.
I think healthy hobbies are helpful for our studies. If I can achieve a balance between my schoolwork and my hobby, it will be of great value to my future development. But I don’t think my teacher understands me. I feel bad about that. What shall I do? Can you offer me some suggestions? I am looking forward to your early reply.
Best wishes
