But forgiveness is possible--and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed,research has shown that people who forgive report more energy,better appetite and better sleep patterns."It can help save on the wear and tear on our system," says Dr.Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good.So when someone has hurt you ,calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure:a beautiful scene in nature,someone you love ,Don't wait for an apology. "Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,"says Dr.Luskin. "They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize,you could be waiting a very long time." Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Instead,learn to look for the love,beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person's perspective(视角). You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance(无知),feat--even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person's point of view.41.The passage is mainly written to explain_____.A)how to keep yourself from being hurtB)how to stay mentally healthyC)how and when to remain calmD)why and how to pardon others42.Research has shown that forgiveness allows people to _____.A) feel more energeticB)enjoy more foodC)sleep in better waysD)all of the above43.According to the passage, what is the right way to calm down after being hurt?A)Try to figure out why you get hurt.B)Write a letter to the person who hurt you.C)Think about pleasant things and forget about the hurt.D)Persuade yourself to accept what others have done to you.44.Dr.Luskin advises us not to wait for an apology after being hurt because_____.A)we are not patient enoughB)people seldom want to apologizeC)we'd feel worse accepting others' apologyD)people don't mean it when they apologizePassage TwoQuestions 45 to 48 are based on the following passage.Your beliefs are very powerful and have the power to create or to destroy your life. In most cases, whatever you believe is what you will become. If you believe that you are a loser, that you never get a breakthrough in life, these things will be your reality. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you hope to do, and when you do, your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs, and that is how you finally control your life.Many of our beliefs come from our environment, the world we live in on a daily basis. If your environment is limiting your beliefs, then work very hard on changing it. If you are constantly around people who are negative and limiting, find other people to hang out with and get around positive, successful people.Beliefs also come from past experience. That is why it is so important to experience success on a regular basis. Set small achievable goals, and then try your best to reach them. When you start to experience success, then you start to believe in success, and that leads to more and bigger successes.Beliefs come from knowledge. The more you learn, the more things you will know to be possible. Always take the advantage of opportunities to learn something new. It will bring new possibilities into your beliefs and your life.Most importantly, you can develop new beliefs by setting and visualizing(设想) goals for your life. Define your goals clearly. Then in your mind, see yourself achieving them in all of their sensory details. The beliefs formed in this way will lead you to their reality.45.In the author's opinion, your life depends on_____.A) your environment where you live B) your experiencesC) your knowledge and opportunities D) your beliefs46.Which of the following statements is true?A) You should try your best to help your negative people around you.B) You should try to achieve small success to believe in success first.C) The more knowledge you learn, the more you will control your life.D). You should stick to your own beliefs without changing.47.According to the passage, what is the most important about your beliefs?A) To imagine your success with your senses.B) To make efforts to achieve them.C) To learn as much knowledge as possible.D) To try to experience success regularly.48.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?(①-----⑤stand for "Paragraph 1---Paragraph 5")A) B)C)D)①①①①②③④②②③④③④⑤⑤⑤②③④⑤Passage ThreeQuestions 49 to 53 are based on the following passage.When a consumer finds that an item he bought is faulty or does not live up to the manufacturer's claim for it, the first step is to present the warranty(保单), or any other helpful records at the store of purchase. If this action does not work, there are various means that may be used to gain satisfaction.A simple and common method is to complain directly to the store manager. Generally, the "higher up" the consumer takes his complaint, the faster he can expect it to be settled. In such a case, it is usually settled in the consumer's favor, if he has a just claim.Complaining is usually most effective when it is done politely but firmly, and especially when the consumer can demonstrate what is wrong with the item. Being a good youth, one should have those factors: the basic one is health. A healthy body is a kind of priceless treasure. One can do nothing without it. Secondly, we should pay essential attention to our moral character. We should be always willing to help those in trouble without any complaints. Moreover, we should care more about the people around us. Thirdly, cooperation andcommunication also play an important role in being a good youth. No one can live alone without any friends. And nobody can work out every problem without help of partners. So the youth should and must learn how to live and work well with others, including those people you don't like to cooperate or communicate with. The last but not the least, patriotism, meaning a love of one's country, is the one we should never forget. People always misunderstand the word “patriots” by thinking it only refers to those fighters who fight for their country. As a matter of fact, a patriot will do the things his country asks him to do. 大学英语三级A级考试真题{选择}

2011年6月大学英语三级A级考试真题16. I am very sorry ______ you such a lot of trouble by the delayed shipment.A. causedB. causingC. to have causedD. to be caused16.[C][解析] 本题考查be sorry与不定式的搭配。

be sorry后通常有两种结构:be Sorry for sth.和be sorry to do sth.,据此先排除选项A和选项B。

四个选项中的关键动词cause应与空格后的you构成动词+宾语关系,即为:cause sb. sth. (给某人带来某种影响),可见,选项C为正确答案。

[避错指南] 在be sorry to do sth. 这一结构中,如果需要强调对“以前”发生的事件感到抱歉,可在不定式to 后使用不定式的完成式,构成to have done sth.,如本题。

17. Hardly ______ his speech when a young woman in the audience rose to make a protest.A. George finishedB. does George finishC. George had finishedD. had George finished17.[D][解析] 本题考查Hardly…when…

George had hardly finished his speech when…像hardly…when…

Faced with this obstacle, creative people proceed to invent and build the desired device.(器具、仪器)The second way people get ideas for new inventions is by observing other people struggle with a task and deciding there has to be a better way.This can be an accidental event where person 'A' sees person 'B' struggling and geta and idea. Or, it can be deliberate as when Scott Cook, the creator of Intuit Corporation, had money to start a computer software business but knew neither how to write a program nor what program to write.So, he began observing people and looking for ideas. He finally got the idea for a checkbook(支票簿)balancing program when he saw his wife struggling with monthly work or reconciling (核对)their checkbook with the bank statement.Concluding that others had the same problem, he posted notices at nearby Stanford University seeking a computer science student to write a progrm. And amateur(业余)filmmakers like Dong are beginning to create entertainment that fits this new demand."Cellphone films have to tell the story in a quick, tight way," say Dong, " for most people only watch them in their spare time and I have to catch their attention in the shortest span of time."Dong's five-minute film, Extending a Hand,tells the story of a group of thieves who pass a stolen purse from one to another. He says the title is a pun(双关语). It (extending a hand) could either refer to the bad behavior of a thief or the loving act of someone trying to help.The key thing about a cellphone film is that it must have an unexpected plot or ending, and hence you can't allow the stroy to go flat.In fact, Dong did his first film as part of his homework, but he plans to make more for fun, and maybe for some money. "It's more of a commercial way of catching people's attention. It's not like an are film," Dong says of his first cellphone film. But forgiveness is possible--and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed,research has shown that people who forgive report more energy,better appetite and better sleep patterns."It can help save on the wear and tear on our system," says Dr.Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good.So when someone has hurt you ,calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure:a beautiful scene in nature,someone you love ,Don't wait for an apology. "Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,"says Dr.Luskin. "They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize,you could be waiting a very long time." Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Instead,learn to look for the love,beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person's perspective(视角). You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance(无知),feat--even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person's point of view.41.The passage is mainly written to explain_____.A)how to keep yourself from being hurtB)how to stay mentally healthyC)how and when to remain calmD)why and how to pardon others42.Research has shown that forgiveness allows people to _____.A) feel more energeticB)enjoy more foodC)sleep in better waysD)all of the above43.According to the passage, what is the right way to calm down after being hurt?A)Try to figure out why you get hurt.B)Write a letter to the person who hurt you.C)Think about pleasant things and forget about the hurt.D)Persuade yourself to accept what others have done to you.44.Dr.Luskin advises us not to wait for an apology after being hurt because_____.A)we are not patient enoughB)people seldom want to apologizeC)we'd feel worse accepting others' apologyD)people don't mean it when they apologizePassage TwoQuestions 45 to 48 are based on the following passage.Your beliefs are very powerful and have the power to create or to destroy your life. In most cases, whatever you believe is what you will become. If you believe that you are a loser, that you never get a breakthrough in life, these things will be your reality. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you hope to do, and when you do, your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs, and that is how you finally control your life.Many of our beliefs come from our environment, the world we live in on a daily basis. If your environment is limiting your beliefs, then work very hard on changing it. If you are constantly around people who are negative and limiting, find other people to hang out with and get around positive, successful people.Beliefs also come from past experience. That is why it is so important to experience success on a regular basis. Set small achievable goals, and then try your best to reach them. When you start to experience success, then you start to believe in success, and that leads to more and bigger successes.Beliefs come from knowledge. The more you learn, the more things you will know to be possible. Always take the advantage of opportunities to learn something new. It will bring new possibilities into your beliefs and your life.Most importantly, you can develop new beliefs by setting and visualizing(设想) goals for your life. Define your goals clearly. Then in your mind, see yourself achieving them in all of their sensory details. The beliefs formed in this way will lead you to their reality.45.In the author's opinion, your life depends on_____.A) your environment where you live B) your experiencesC) your knowledge and opportunities D) your beliefs46.Which of the following statements is true?A) You should try your best to help your negative people around you.B) You should try to achieve small success to believe in success first.C) The more knowledge you learn, the more you will control your life.D). If this action does not work, there are various means that may be used to gain satisfaction.A simple and common method is to complain directly to the store manager. Generally, the "higher up" the consumer takes his complaint, the faster he can expect it to be settled. In such a case, it is usually settled in the consumer's favor, if he has a just claim.Complaining is usually most effective when it is done politely but firmly, and especially when the consumer can demonstrate what is wrong with the item. If this cannot be done, he will succeed best by presenting specific information as to what is wrong, rather by making general statements.The store manager may advise the consumer to write to the manufacturer. If so, the consumer should do this, stating the complaint as politely as firmly as possible. But if a polite complaint does not achieve the desired result, the consumer can go a step further. He can threaten to take the seller to court or report the seller to a private or public organization responsible for protecting the consumer's rights.49.When a consumer finds that his purchase has a fault in it, the first thing he should do is to_____.A) threaten to take the matter to courtB) show some written proof of the purchase to the storeC) complain personally to the managerD) write a firm letter of complaint to the store of purchase50.If a consumer wants a quick settlement of his problem, it is better to complain to_____.A) the store manager B) a shop assistantC) the manufacturer D) a public organization51.Suppose a consumer finds fault in his tape recorder, what would he say to the store manager?A) This tape recorder doesn't work.B) This tape recorder is not so good as before.C) This sound coming out of the right speaker is unclear.D) This is the warranty, you must change a new one for me.52.The most effective complaint can be made by_____.A) saying firmly that the item is of poor qualityB) showing the faulty item to the manufacturerC) asking politely to change the itemD) explaining exactly what is wrong with the item53.The passage tells us how to_____.A) avoid buying a faulty itemB) deal with complaints from customersC) make an effective complaint about a faulty itemD) settle a consumer's complaint about a faulty itemSection B Short Answer Questions(4 point, 1 point each)Dear Mr.Doe, March 1,2011 Thank you for coming in for an interview last Friday. Being a good youth, one should have those factors: the basic one is health. A healthy body is a kind of priceless treasure. One can do nothing without it. Secondly, we should pay essential attention to our moral character. We should be always willing to help those in trouble without any complaints. Moreover, we should care more about the people around us. Thirdly, cooperation and communication also play an important role in being a good youth. No one can live alone without any friends. And nobody can work out every problem without help of partners. So the youth should and must learn how to live and work well with others, including those people you don't like to cooperate or communicate with. The last but not the least, patriotism, meaning a love of one's country, is the one we should never forget. People always misunderstand the word “patriots” by thinking it only refers to those fighters who fight for their country. As a matter of fact, a patriot will do the things his country asks him to do. In most cases, whatever you believe is what you will become. If you believe that you are a loser, that you never get a breakthrough in life, these things will be your reality. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you hope to do, and when you do, your accomplishementswill know no bounds. You control your beliefs, and that is how you finally control your life.Many of our beliefs come from our environment, the world we live in on a daily basis. If your environment is limiting your beliefs, then work very hard on changing it. If you are constantly around people who are negative and limiting, find other people to hang out with and get around positive, successful people.Beliefs also come from past experiences. That is why it is so important to experience success on a regular basis.Set small achievable goals, and then try your best to reach them. When you start to experience success, then you start to believe in success, and that leads to more and bigger successes.Beliefs come from knowledge. The more you learn, the more things you will know to be possible. Always take the advantage of opportunities to learn something new. It will bring new possibilities into your beliefs and yourlife.Most importantly, you can develop new beliefs by setting and visualizing goals for your life. Define your goals clearly. But forgiveness is possible---- and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite and better sleep patterns. “ It can help save on the wear and tear on our system,”says Dr.Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good.So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beatiful scene in nature, someone you love. Don’t wait for an apology. “Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing.” Says Dr. Luskin. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time.”Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person’s perspective. You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance, fear ----even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person’s point of view.45. The text is mainly written to explain ____A. how and when to remain calmB. how to stay mentally healthyC. why and how to pardon othersD. how to keep yourself from being hurt46. If this action doesn’t work, there are various means that may be used to gain satisfaction.A simple and common method is to complain directly to the store manager. Generally, the “higher up”the consumer takes his complaint, the faster he can expect it to be settled. In such a case, it is usually settled in the consumer's favor, if he has a just claim.Complaining is usually most effective when it is done politely but firmly, and especially when the consumer can demonstrate what is wrong with the item. If this cannot be done, he will succeed best by presenting specific information as to what is wrong, rather than by making general statements.The store manager may advise the consumer to write to the manufacturer. If so, the consumer should do this, stating the complaint as politely as firmly as possible. But if a polite complaint does not achieve the desired result, the consumer can go a step further. He can threaten to take the seller to court or report the seller to a private or public organization responsible for protecting the consumer’s rights.49.When a consumer finds that his purchase has a fault in it, the first thing he should do is to ______.A. threaten to take the matter to courtB. complain personally to the managerC. show some written proof of the purchase to the storeD. write a firm letter of complaint to the store of purchase50. If a consumer wants a quick settlement of his problem, it is better to complain to _____.A. the manufacturerB. the store managerC. a shop assistantD. a publicorganization51. Suppose a consumer fins fault in his tape recorder, what would he say to the store manager?A. The tape recorder is not so good as beforeB. The sound coming out of the right speaker is unclearC. This is the warranty, you must change a new one for meD. This tape recorder doesn’t work52. The most effective complaint can be made by _____.A. asking politely to change the itemB. showing the faulty item to the manufacturerC. explaining exactly what is wrong with the itemD. saying firmly that the item is of poor quality53. The passage tells us how to _____.A. make an effective complaint about a faulty itemB. avoid buying a faulty itemC. deal with complaints from customersD. settle a consumer’s complaint about a faulty itemSection B Short Answer Questions (4 points, 1 point each)Directions: Read the following business letter. As you know,there's no enough clean water for people. So many of them lose their lives because of water. In a lot of
countries, people have to cut trees for living. So there's nothing to keep water from running away. Also we have polluted the land, the river and the air. So we have to face more and more floods and droughts .
It's time that we must do something useful to protect our environment. We can plant trees and take good care of them. We can save the water and ask our parents to do so. We can't throw any litter onto the ground and we should collect them for recycling.
If we take good care of our earth today,it will be more beautiful tomorrow。
