The cholera outbreak was so severe that more than 500 people died in 10 days.

John Snow finally proved his idea because he found an outbreak that was clearly related to cholera, collected information and was able to tie cases outside the area to the polluted water.

People absorbed this disease into their bodies with their meals. From the stomach the disease quickly attacked the body and soon the affected person died.
It begins in the stomach and a severe case can lead to death without immediate treatment. And the victims died very quickly from a loss of liquid after severe vomiting (呕吐) and diarrhoea (腹泻).
