根据“Where is Spring Break going to be? The options are endless. Do you want to get your blood pumping from thrilling travels?”

Eight days tours for $ 250 / day. During this twelve days tour you will hike a glacier to beautiful scenery and wander through postcard-worthy
villages. Tours to Canada for $200 / day. Seven days tours for $ 300 / day. Nine days tours for $230 / day,可知在南非旅行的费用是230x9=2070。

根据第二段Panama中的“This underrated destination is a little-known secret of the most travelers!”

故选A。

一般包括直接理解题(在原文中直接找到答案,常用why/what/when/who/how等提问)。

Eight days tours for $ 250 / day. During this twelve days tour you will hike a glacier to beautiful scenery and wander through postcard-worthy villages. Tours to Canada for $200 / day. Seven days tours for $ 300 / day. Nine days tours for $230 / day,可知在南非旅行的费用是230x9=2070。

B
Travelers to a new city are often encouraged to take a bus tour. The thinking is that they can later return to the places that attracted them, but that’s nonsense! What you see from the inside of a fast-moving bus is sanitized (清洁的) and unreal , entirely removed from the real sights, sounds, and smells outside.
The best way to experience any destination is by foot, without an itinerary, wandering where your spirit leads you. Even in the largest cities, the savvy(资深的) traveler plunges into the very center of town and walks down the nearest street, experiencing the actual life of the people while looking into the grocery stores and courtyard. You eventually get to many of the same sites that are on the bus route--the museums, the monuments, the city hall--but you will have witnessed so much more because you will have felt the contemporary life of the city you’re visiting.
“But what if I get lost?” people ask. No one ever gets permanently lost in a major c ity. Eventually, a trolley or bus passes with the words “Central Station” on its front and you can easily return to the center of town. Besides, the most wonderful things can happen if you do get lost, such as stopping at a sidewalk cafe to sit and relax and then asking directions from the locals at the next table. Hopefully , your trip may be attractive by this encounter. Here are a few ways to make the most of your travels:
Know before you go. Before you depart, spend time in a library or bookstore, learning about the history and culture of your destination so you will better understand the place you’re visiting .
Move around like a e the local subways, trams and buses. You’ll not only save money, you’ll learn how people live there , and you’ll ga in a realistic perspective of the city.
Check the bulletin board. Bulletin boards list free lectures, concerts, workshops and social gatherings, giving you a chance to join or meet the area’s most dynamic residents.
Take a walking tour. If you must book a guided tour, select the nonstandard , inexpensive kinds conducted on foot.
So, the next time you feel lured by a sightseeing bus tour, save your money and instead, wander around on your own. I promise you a time you’ll remember fondly.
4. What does the author think of a bus tour?
A. It is reasonable.
B. It is fast.
C. You can’t be exposed to the outside world.
D. It is noisy.
5. What does the underlined word in Para 2 mean?
A. a guided book for travelers.
B. a car.
C. a bag.
D. something to eat.
6. Why is traveling by foot one of the best choices to experience the city?
A. Because you can buy anything you like.
B. Because you can get to the same destination as the bus tour.
C. Because you can experience the real life in person.
D. Because you can go to museums and city halls where the bus doesn’t get.
7. How do you make the most of your travel? Which statement is not true?
A. Read some introduction of the place where you want to go.
B. Join the local workshop and social gatherings.
C. Join a tour without a guide.
D. Use the public transportation as well as visit on foot.
8. What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. How to avoid getting lost.
B. How to make the most of your travel.
C. Bus tour is not as good as we think.
D. How to travel with a budge
C 5. A 6. C 7. C 8. B

What you see from the inside of a fast-moving bus is sanitized (清洁的) and unreal , entirely removed from the real sights, sounds, and smells outside.

根据本词后的“without an itinerary, wandering where your spirit leads you”任凭你的心来引导你旅游。

The best way to experience any destination is by foot, without an itinerary, wandering where your spirit leads you…. experiencing the actual life of the people …You eventually get to many of the same sites …, but you will have witnessed so much more because you will have felt the contemporary life of the city you’re visiting.

根据Know before you go.中的Before you depart, spend time in a library or bookstore, learning about the history and culture of your destination在你离开之前,花些时间去图书馆或书店,了解一下目的地的历史和文化。

Move around like a local中的内容Use the local subways, trams and buses可知除了步行,还可以使用公共交通工具。

根据Check the bulletin board中的Bulletin boards list free lectures, concerts, workshops and social gatherings, giving you a chance to join or meet the area’s most dynamic residents.

C
We are all human and have weaknesses. Even if your physical appearance or social skills aren’t what you wish they were, that doesn’t have to stop you from being confident. Here’s how to believe in yourself.
Make a list of special talents you have, or things you do that are good—morally or otherwise. It doesn’t have to be a specific skill;it can be an approach or an attitude that you hold through life. Do you always stay calm, cool and collected, even in hurried situations? Are you very patient with people? Do you always see the humorous side of things? Are you always there for your friends?
Know that you have important things to say and do. When you feel strongly about something, speak loudly and clearly and make eye contact with people. People will judge you all the time, and usually they’ll misjudge you anyway, so why bother trying to live up to their opinions at all?
Take care of yourself. Eat a healthy diet and get enough exercise. Don’t abuse your body, don’t overload it, and don’t deny any of the things it needs. At the same time, don’t obsess(沉迷). Buying all the moisturizers (润肤霜) and creams will not bring you closer to who you want to be. Those things are only band-aids and make-up. Confidence comes from within. In order to be confident, you must value yourself and understand that your well-being is important.
Improve your posture. Having good posture can actually make you feel more confident. Don’t drop your shoulders. Make sure that your back is straight, your shoulders are square, and your chest sticks out slightly (but stay loose, otherwise you’ll appear stubborn and nervous). Good posture also helps with deep breathing, which helps with feeling calm and relaxed.
9. What is the best title for the text?
A. How to keep a good shape.
B. The way to success.
C. What talents you need.
D. How to be confident.
10. Among the following things, which is not mentioned in paragraph 2?
A. When your friends are in trouble, you are always there to help.
B. It’s time for your performance, but you forgot you r words. Instead of being nervous, you made it.
C. You have a special gift for language learning.
D. Even it’s hard to study well, but you always have a positive attitude towards life.
11. What’s the meaning of the underlined words in paragraph 3?
A. do as well as others expect you to
B. care about
C. don’t agree with others
D. praise
12. Why does the author mention “moisturizers (润肤霜) and creams” in paragraph 4?
A. To tell us they are all very important for people to become beautiful.
B. To show us these things are not necessities for confidence.
C. To show us that moisturizers (润肤霜) and creams are special diet for our skin.
D. To tell the readers they are essential to their well-being.
D 10. C 11. A 12. B

It doesn’t have to be a specific skill;it can be an approach or an attitude that you hold through life. Do you always stay calm, cool and collected, even in hurried situations? Are you very patient with people? …Are
you always there for your friends?“你可列出你拥有的特殊才能,它不一定是特定的技能(但没有说语言学习你有特别的天赋,C是错误的),它可以是你一生中坚持的方法或态度(可知,即使学好很难,你也总是对生活积极乐观,故提及D)。

People will judge you all the time, and usually they’ll misjudge you anyway, so why bother trying to live up to their opinions at all?

(A. do as well as others expect you to做得和别人期望的一样好;B. care about在乎,担心;C. don’t agree with others不同意别人的意见;D. praise表扬),可知A符合题意,故选A。

根据第四段的Buying all the moisturizers (润肤霜) and creams will not bring you closer to who you want to be. Those things are only band-aids and make-up. Confidence comes from within“.

首段doesn’t have to stop you from being confident. Here’s how to believe in yourself. How to be confident.”。

D
People in Finland were the least likely to believe that people laughing in their presence were making fun of them. Less than ten percent of Finns in the study said they would think that, compared to eighty percent of people in Thailand.
Some people in the study said they felt unsure of themselves in social situations but hid their feelings of insecurity(局促不安)Others said they avoided social situations where they had been laughed at before. The study found that people in Turkmenistan and Cambodia were more likely to be in the first group. They would hide their feelings of insecurity if they were around other people's laughter. But people in Iraq, Egypt and Jordan were more likely to try to avoid such situations if they felt they had been laughed at before.
Shy people often avoid situations that would force them into close contact(联系) with other people. They worry that something they say or do will make other people laugh at them. But some people worry much more than others. They may have an illness called gelotophobia. Gelos is a Greek word. It means laughter. Phobia means fear. This fear of laughter can be truly sad for those who live with it. It can affect how they lead their lives.
In the study, a team from the University of Zurich led more than ninety researchers from around the world. They wanted to understand the difference between normal shyness and true gelotophobia. Another purpose of the study was to compare the levels of fear of being laughed at in different cultures. The researchers surveyed(调查) more than twenty-two thousand people in forty-two different languages. The findings appeared in the scientific magazine Humor.
13. What did the study find?
A. Being laughed at is a common fear.
B. Being laughed at is different from culture to culture.
C. Only people in Turkmenistan would hide their feelings of insecurity if they were around other people's laughter.
D. The fear of being laughed at is different around the world.
14. Shy people often avoid situations that would force them into close contact with other people because ________.
A. they have a disorder called gelotophobia
B. It can affect how they lead their lives
C. they worry that something they say or do will be laughed at
D. they worry that all what they say or do will make other people laugh at them
15. The underlined word “it” in Paragraph3 refers to .
A. laughter.
B. gelotophobia.
C. fear.
D. Phobia.
D 14. C 15. B

Turkmenistan and Cambodia were more likely to be in the first group. They would hide their feelings of insecurity if they were around other people's laughter. But people in Iraq, Egypt and Jordan were more likely to try to avoid such situations if they felt they had been laughed at before.

They wanted to understand the difference between normal shyness and true gelotophobia. Another purpose of the study was to compare the levels of fear of being laughed at in different cultures..

Shy people often avoid situations that would force them into close contact(联系) with other people. They worry that something they say or do will make other people laugh at them.

This fear of laughter can be truly sad for those who live with it. “这种对笑声的恐惧对于那些生活在其中的人来说是非常糟糕的”,可知“It can affect how they lead their lives”中的it指的是上句所说的this fear of laughter,也就是“gelotophobia”。

Many of us live with a roommate at some stage. Sometimes, there can be problems. Who hasn’t had an argument about whose tu rn it is to take out the rubbish or who should be the one to clear up after dinner? ____16____
You know that there’s always someone else around, which can help you feel safer. There is always someone to talk to, so you never feel lonely. Besides these obvious benefits, there are some you may not notice. ____17____
To examine the effect of living alone, Australian university researchers did much research and found that people living alone tended to eat less fresh food, which can have a significant negative effect on long-term health. However, those living with others generally benefited from a more varied diet compared to those living alone.
____18____ The researchers believe the social and cultural roles played by cooking, food preparation and eating may be important considerations. For example, those living with friends have someone else to go shopping with, and thus are likely to buy high-quality fresh food regularly.
____19____ If people living alone find they do not have the knowledge required
to prepare a particular dish or cook a certain food, they may fall back on ready-made, less healthy food. However, if they live with at least one other person, they may be able to ask for help.
In addition, people living alone can eat whatever they want at any time of the day or night. However, it’s helpful to have someone around who questions your decision to eat frozen pizza at 3 am. ____20____
So, if you now live alone and find yourself fighting a losing battle against poor eating habits, why not consider sharing a home with someone else? You could encourage one another on to greater health and well-being.
A. Cooking skills may be another factor.
B. In other words, roommates can draw your attention to unhealthy routines.
C. Living with a roommate could be a good thing because a roommate can share your expenses and contribute to your home’s maintenance.
D. For example, we’re actually more likely to eat healthier food when living with others.
E. What could explain these findings?
F. It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t grate on your nerves, has a similar cleanliness level as you and goes to bed at the same time.
G. However, living with another person also comes with many benefits.
18. E 19. A
20. B

故选A。
