My Favorite Hobby: Listening to Music
Hi there! My name is Sam and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my biggest hobby and one of my favorite things in the whole world - listening to music! Music makes me so happy and I love listening to all different kinds.
I can't remember a time when I didn't like music. Even when I was a little baby, my parents said I would bounce up and down and smile really big whenever they played songs for me. My earliest memories are of singing along to kids' music in the car with my mom and dad. We had these CDs with all the classic children's songs like "The Wheels on the Bus," "Old McDonald," and "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." I knew every single word!
As I got a little older, I started getting really into pop music. My big sister listened to all the top 40 hits, so I would go into her room when she wasn't there and listen to her CDs. I loved singing and dancing around to stars like Taylor Swift, Justin
Bieber, and Ariana Grande. Those songs were just so fun and catchy!
Then when I was around 8 years old, I discovered movie soundtracks and musicals. My friend took me to see the movie The Greatest Showman and I fell in love with all the songs from that film. "This Is Me" and "Rewrite the Stars" instantly became two of my most played tracks. From there, I went down a rabbit hole listening to soundtracks from other famous musicals like Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, and Wicked. I was amazed by how beautiful and powerful the vocals were.
These days, I listen to pretty much every genre of music. I'll go from rapping along to songs by Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, to rocking out to classics by Queen and The Beatles, to feeling all the emotions with ballads by Adele and Sam Smith. I have the most eclectic taste!
One genre I've particularly gotten into recently is K-pop. My cousin introduced me to bands like BTS and Blackpink and now I'm obsessed. The songs are so upbeat and energetic, plus the choreography in their music videos is out of this world. I've even tried to learn some of the dances, which is really hard but so much fun.
More than anything though, I just love how music makes me feel. Listening to my favorite songs can boost my mood no matter what kind of day I'm having. If I'm feeling sad, angry, or stressed, a few minutes of jumping around and singing at the top of my lungs lifts my spirits. And when I'm already feeling happy, listening to upbeat, feelgood tunes amplifies that joy.
Music also helps me focus when I'm doing homework or chores. Having something playing in the background seems to put me in a zone where I can concentrate better. Though sometimes I do get a little too into the music and start having mini dance parties instead of studying!
One of my biggest dreams is to learn how to play an instrument so I can start making my own music. I've asked my parents for guitar or piano lessons, but they want me to get a bit older first. Until then, I'll keep on singing along to my favorite tunes every chance I get. Who knows, maybe I'll even start a band with my friends one day!
Whether I'm getting ready for school in the morning, out running errands with my parents, hanging out with friends, or just chilling in my room, you can bet I've got headphones on listening to something. Music is always my companion to help me through any situation.
I know I'm still just a kid, but music is seriously my biggest passion. While other hobbies like sports or video games are fun too, none of them make me feel as happy and free as listening to music does. Discovering new artists and genres to fall in love with will always be one of my favorite pastimes.
I'm so grateful that we live in a world with such an incredible array of music out there to experience. Every song has the ability to take you on an adventure and make you feel things you've never felt before. To me, there's no greater joy than that! So keep on singing, dancing, and rocking out, my friends. A life with music is a life full of magic.

My Favorite Things to Do
Hi there! My name is Alex and I'm 10 years old. I love a lot of different things, but my two biggest hobbies are listening to music and learning English. These two activities make me really happy and I never get bored of them. Let me tell you a little bit more about why I enjoy them so much!
Music is the Best
I've loved music for as long as I can remember. When I was a tiny baby, my parents would play lullabies and rock songs to help
get me to sleep at night. As I got a little older, they let me pick out CDs from the music store and make mixed tapes (that's what we called playlists back then!). Now that I'm 10, I'm obsessed with singers like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd. Their songs just make me want to get up and dance!
My favorite type of music is pop, but I'll pretty much listen to anything except heavy metal or rap (I'm not really into those genres yet). Pop just has such catchy melodies and fun lyrics. I know all the words to songs like "Anti-Hero" by Taylor Swift and "As It Was" by Harry Styles. Sometimes I'll even put on little concerts for my family, using a hairbrush as a microphone. They think it's hilarious but I'm just being my true popstar self!
Other than singing and dancing, I also play the piano. I started lessons when I was 6 and it was really hard at first. My fingers are still pretty small so I had trouble reaching some of the keys. But my piano teacher is really nice and encouraging. Now after 4 years I can play tons of pop songs like "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi. Music helps me feel creative and expressive. Whenever I'm happy or sad, I can get those emotions out through song.
Learning English is Super Fun
My other big hobby is learning English. I know that might sound a little strange since English is my first language. But there's just so much to learn about it! Did you know English has more words than any other language? Over a million! How crazy is that?
I really like learning new vocabulary words. My favorites are whimsical ones that just sound silly, like "flibbertigibbet" which means a silly, light-headed person. Or amusing phrases like "raining cats and dogs." Whenever I learn a new wacky word, I write it down in my special vocabulary journal. Then I try to use it in my writing assignments for school. My teachers always get a kick out of that.
Grammar is another part of English that I find really fascinating. Like how singular and plural nouns have different verb forms - "I walk" but "they walk." Or the difference between past, present, and future tenses. At first all the rules seemed so complicated, but the more I study them the more I appreciate how brilliant (and weird!) the English language is.
Reading books is one of the best ways for me to keep building my English skills. I especially love getting lost in fantasy novel series like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. Those magical worlds are filled with so much rich vocabulary and intricate plots
to follow. Sometimes if I come across a word I don't know, I'll make a flashcard to review later. Reading has helped my comprehension, writing abilities, and even my speaking skills.
I've also started watching more shows and movies in English so I can practice listening comprehension. My favorites are animated Disney movies because the plots are easy to follow and the language isn't too complicated. But I also like teen shows and comedies aimed at kids my age. I'm pretty proud that I can understand most of the slang and idioms now!
Bringing It All Together
You're probably wondering how my love of music and English could possibly be connected, right? Well, aside from both of them bringing me joy, I've found that learning about one can really help with the other. Like when I'm studying song lyrics, it pushes me to look up words I don't know and analyze the grammar in new ways. Or when I'm reading books, sometimes I'll look up the musical artists or song references I come across.
Music is also a fantastic tool for memorizing things related to English. There are silly songs that teach grammar rules (those really come in handy for tests!). And putting vocabulary words into rhythmic, rhyming sing-along tunes makes it so much easier to remember their meanings. Sometimes I'll even re-write my
favorite Pop songs using new vocab I've learned. It's amazing how naturally their rhythms and melodies can stick in your brain.
So those are my two biggest hobbies and passions - listening to music and honing my English skills. I'm sure they'll stick with me for life. The two of them combined have taught me so much already about expressing myself, being creative, and appreciating the incredible power and complexity of language. I may only be 10 years old, but I can't wait to see where this musical, literary journey takes me next!

My Hobbies and Interests
Hi there! My name is Alex, and I'm in the 5th grade. I'm really excited to tell you all about my hobbies and interests today. I have a few different things that I really love doing in my free time!
One of my biggest hobbies is listening to music. I absolutely love music and listening to all different kinds of songs and artists. My favorite type of music is pop music, but I also really like rock, hip hop, and even some country songs too. I listen to music pretty much any chance I get - in the car, at home, at school during free periods, you name it!
I have a huge playlist on my mom's old iPod with hundreds and hundreds of songs. My favorite artists are Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, and Shawn Mendes. But I'm always looking for new music to listen to as well. Maybe you have some recommendations for good songs or artists I should check out? I'd love to hear them!
Listening to music is my favorite way to pass the time and just vibe out. I'll put my headphones on and listen to whole albums from start to finish. Or I'll just hit shuffle on my playlist and sing and dance around like a crazy person! My parents are always telling me to stop singing so loudly, but I just can't help myself when a good song comes on. Oops!
Another thing I'm really interested in is learning about different languages and cultures from around the world. My favorite subject in school is English, because I love reading books and writing stories. But I'm also super fascinated by other languages. In my English class, we've learned some basic phrases in Spanish, French, and even a tiny bit of Mandarin Chinese. How cool is that?
I think it's so awesome that there are thousands of different languages spoken by people all over the globe. Each one has its own unique words, grammar rules, and pronunciations. I've
started trying to learn more Spanish on this language learning app my dad put on my tablet. My goal is to become fluent one day so I can speak it as well as I speak English!
In my free time, I also love reading all kinds of books - fiction novels, non-fiction books about real people and places, comics and graphic novels, you name it. I'll read just about anything I can get my hands on. We have a little tent set up in my bedroom with a beanbag chair and reading lights where I spend a lot of time getting lost in books.
My favorite books are the Harry Potter series, The Chronicles of Narnia, books by Rick Riordan like Percy Jackson, and series like Dogman and Captain Underpants. They're just so creative and exciting! I can read for hours and hours without getting bored. My parents have to force me to put my books down and go to sleep at night.
When I'm not listening to music, practicing Spanish, or reading, I really enjoy being active and playing sports too. Soccer is probably my favorite sport - I play on a local recreational team in my town. But I also love basketball, swimming, and even just running around outside. Anything to get my energy out!
During the summer when it's warm out, my friends and I spend as much time as possible outdoors riding our bikes,
playing pick-up games in the park, and having water balloon fights. We try to soak up as much sunshine and fresh air as we can before it gets cold again. Then we're stuck inside a lot more once winter rolls around.
Well, those are some of my biggest hobbies and interests! Writing, art, and science are a few other things I'm really into as well. As you can probably tell, I'm a pretty curious and active kid who loves learning about all sorts of new things. I'm never bored because there's always a book to read, a game to play, or a song to listen to.
I could honestly keep going on and on, but I'd better wrap this up before it gets too long. Maybe you can tell me about some of your hobbies and interests as well? I'm always eager to hear about the cool things other people like to do. Thanks for reading, and happy hobby-ing!。
