浙江省2023年1月高考英语阅读理解D篇深度解读含译文According to the Solar Energy Industry Association, the number of solar panels installed(安装)has grown rapidly in the past decade, and it has to grow even faster to meet climate goals. But all of that growth will take up a lot of space, and though more and more people accept the concept of solar energy, few like large solar panels to be installed near them.Solar developers want to put up panels as quickly and cheaply as possible, so they haven't given much thought to what they put under them. Often, they'll end up filling the area with small stones and using chemicals to control weeds. The result is that many communities, especially in farming regions, see solar farms as destroyers of the soil.“Solar projects need to be good neighbors,”says Jordan Macknick, thehead of the Innovative Site Preparation and Impact Reductions on the Environment (InSPIRE) project."They need to be protectors of the land and contribute to the agricultural economy." InSPIRE is investigating practical approaches to "low-impact'' solar development, which focuses on establishing and operating solar farms in a way that is kinder to the land. Oneof the easiest low-impact solar strategies is providing habitat for pollinators(传粉昆虫).Habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change have caused dramatic declines in pollinator populations over the past couple of decades, which has damaged the U.S.agricultural economy. Over 28 states have passed laws related to pollinator habitat protection and pesticide use. Conservation organizations put out pollinator-friendliness guidelines for home gardens, businesses, schools, cities—and now there are guidelines for solar farms.Over the past few years, many solar farm developers have transformed the space under their solar panels into a shelter for various kinds of pollinators, resulting in soil improvement and carbon reduction.“These pollinator-friendly solar farms canhave a valuable impact on everything that's going on in the landscape,”says Macknick.32. What do solar developers often ignore?A.The decline in the demand for solar energy.B.The negative impact of installing solar panels.C.The rising labor cost of building solar farms.D.The most recent advances in solar technology.33.What does InSPIRE aim to do?A.Improve the productivity of local farms.B.Invent new methods for controlling weeds.C.Make solar projects environmentally friendly.D.Promote the use of solar energy in rural areas.34.What is the purpose of the laws mentioned in paragraph 4?A.To conserve pollinators.B.To restrict solar development.C.To diversify the economy.D.To ensure the supply of energy.35. Which of the following is the best title for the text?A.Pollinators:To Leave or to StayB.Solar Energy: Hope for the FutureC.InSPIRE: A Leader in AgricultureD.Solar Farms: A New Development本文主旨:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了过去十年中太阳能农场给土壤造成了破坏,最近几年通过将太阳能电池板下的空间改造成为传粉昆虫栖息地,从而改善了土壤质量,减少了碳排放,太阳能农场有了新的发展。

日本成人纸尿裤市场蓬勃发展Japan's rapidly aging population is producing some interesting new business opportunities, including a booming market for adult diapers.日本快速增长的老龄人口带来了有趣的新商机,这其中就包括蓬勃发展的成人纸尿裤市场。

The Nikkei newspaper reported on Thursday that three Japanese paper panies--Daio, and Nippon Paper--are expanding their manufacturing facilities for what are politely called "incontinence(失禁)products" due to an expected surge in demand. The Nikkei said adult diapers are expected to outsell baby diapers in Japan by 2020, but according to Unicharm, Japan's biggest diaper maker, the tipping point was in 2011.The adult diaper market is growing at 6-10% a year, and already pulls in 140 billion yen ($1.4 billion) by catering to Japan's elderly population--it has the highest percentage of over-65s in the world, making up more than 20% of the population.Demographics aside, adult diapers are an attractive business in their own right--they sell for as much as 2.5 times more than infant diapers, resulting inhigher profit margins, and there's also a lucrative sales channel to institutions like hospitals and nursing homes. Marketing to consumers can still be a minefield(as the parody ad from Saturday Night Live, below, demonstrates) but diaper manufacturers--confident that the embarrassment factor can be overe--are determinedto push the envelope.Sweden's SCA, the world's biggest hygiene product maker, recently sent a sample of its adult diapers to every Swedish man over the age of 55. It was besieged byangry phone calls from men who were perhaps not quite reconciled to needing the pany's products someday.。

It said the sales would help to meet the "entire daily d ollar requirements" of the three firm s. The Indian currency is one of the worst performers in the world this year.It has declined more than 20% against the US dollar since the start of 2013.Global oil cont r acts are mostly settled in US dollars. As a result, Indian oil firms need to sell rupees to buy US dollars to pay for the imports. The central bank's swap window is expected to take the bulk of their dollar demand away from the foreign-exchange market and help to stem the decline in the rupee. However, some analysts said the centra l bank's move was unlikely to result in a sustained recovery in the currency."The measure is unlikel y to arrest the decline in the Indian rupee with the authorities increasingly trying to find new means to stem the rout in the curr ency," s aid Mitul Kotecha, head of global markets research for Asia at Credit Agricole.。

浙江省2023年1月高考英语阅读理解C篇深度解读含译文

浙江省2023年1月高考英语阅读理解C篇深度解读含译文A machine can now not only beat you at chess, it can also outperform you in debate. Last week, in a public debate in San Francisco, a software program called Project Debater beat its human opponents, including Noa Ovadia, Israel's former national debating champion.Brilliant though it is, Project Debater has some weaknesses. It takes sentences from its library of documents and prebuilt arguments and strings them together. This can lead to the kinds of errors no human would make. Such wrinkles will no doubt be ironed out, yet they also point to a fundamental problem. As Kristian Hammond, professor of electrical engineering and computer science at Northwestern University, put it:"There's never a stage at which the system knows what it's talking about."What Hammond is referring to is the question of meaning, and meaning is central to what distinguishes the least intelligent of humans from the most intelligent of machines. A computer works with symbols. Its program specifies a set of rules to transform one string of symbols into another. But it does not specify what those symbols mean. Indeed, to acomputer, meaning is irrelevant. Humans, in thinking, talking, reading and writing, also work with symbols. But for humans, meaning is everything. When we communicate, we communicate meaning. What matters is not just the outside of a string of symbols, butthe inside too, not just how they are arranged but what they mean.Meaning emerges through a process of social interaction, not of computation, interaction that shapes the content of the symbols in our heads. The rules that assign meaning lie not just inside our heads, but also outside, in society, in social memory, social conventions and social relations. It is this that distinguishes humans from machines. And that's why, however astonishing Project Debater may seem, the tradition that began with Socrates and Confucius will not end with artificial intelligence.28.Why does the author mention Noa Ovadia in the first paragraph?A.To explain the use of a software program.B.To show the cleverness of Project Debater.C.To introduce the designer of Project Debater.D.To emphasize the fairness of the competition.29.What does the underlined word "wrinkles"in paragraph 2 refer to?A.Arguments.B.Doubts.C.Errors.D.Differences.30.What is Project Debater unable to do according to Hammond?A.Create rules.prehend meaning.C.Talk fluently.D.Identify difficult words.31.What can we learn from the last paragraph?A.Social interaction is key to understanding symbols.B.The human brain has potential yet to be developed.C.Ancient philosophers set good examples for debaters.D.Artificial intelligence ensures humans a bright future.

It comes just days after the central bank tightened the money supply in an attempt to stem the rupee's decline. The move is expected to make more credit available and also bring down borrowing costs for the government. On Tuesday, the bond yield or the cost of borrowing on India's 10-year bonds touched 9.48%, the highest since 2001.The Reserve Bank of India (R BI) said that it was "important to ensure that the liquidity tightening does not harden longer term yields sharply and adversely impact the f low of credit to the productive sectors of the economy".The bank said that it will buy the bonds via open market purchase operations (OMOs) on 23 A ugust.'Unintended consequences'India has been grappling with a declining currency. The Indian rupee has fallen nearly 16% against the US dollar since May and is Asia's worst performing currency so far this year.On Tuesday, it dropped to a n all-time low of 64.13 against the US dollar, before strengthening slightly. The decline has prompted the central bank to take steps to try to prop-up the currency.Recently it increased the interest rate at which it lends money to other banks and also put a cap on their daily borrowings. While the measures had little impact in stemming the rupee's decline, they did trigger concerns that a tightened credit supply may hurt India's growth - which has fallen to its lowest level in a decade - even further.Analysts said that the central bank's move would not only help allay fears over liquidity but will also help the rupee."RBI is trying to ensure that the u nintended consequences of their liquidity tightening steps that led to a spike in long-end bond yields are correct ed," said Ashish Parthasarthy, a treas urer at HDFC Bank."These measures will bring down 10-year bond yield sharply and will also reduce banks' depreciation(折旧,贬值)losses significantly."NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank added that the steps "will help the rupee positively" as foreign investors are likely to be attracted back to the Indian debt market on the expectation of falling yields.。

The job-search Web site Glassdoor compiled self-reported salary data of more than 33,000 software engineers over the past year. According to the results, while firms such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazo n, Facebook and Twitter all rank in the top 25 for highest average base salary, so do companies such as Juniper Networks, Integral and even Walmart. The salary snapshot also shows that software engineers aren't only in demand at the highest levels of the tech world. Engineers who told the site they work for Walmart reported a higher annual base salary than those who said they work for Facebook. The retailer ranked eighth, with a reported average base salary of $122,110 -- just behind Oracle's $122,905, but ahead of the average salaries reported by engineers from Facebook, eBay, Amazon or Microsoft.Juniper, which manufactures networking equipment, topped the Glassdoor list. Engineers who said they work for Juniper reported an annual base salary of $159,990, compared with the $136,427 base salary reported by those who said they work for the second-place firm on the list, LinkedIn. Yahoo, Google and Twitter rounded out the top five, while Apple came in sixth. The site also offered a picture of how salaries vary across the country. The greatest demand for software engineers is in the San Francisco Bay Area, which also boast's the highest average base salary per area at $111,885. But employers using Glassdoor to recruit are also hunting on the East Coast. New York City has the second-highest con centration of Glassdoor employers looking for software engineers, followed by Washington, D.C. But salaries are lower out East: In Washington, for example, employers using the job search site are offering an average base salary of $83,765, below Glassdoor's estimated national base salary average of $92,790.Overall, the averages have jumped up since Glassdoor looked a t the same job market last year, but they also show a shift. 一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解At the age of seven, while his friends were spending pocket money on things like candy and toys, Jose Adolfo was busy saving money for more essential purchases. To try to get his peers to do the same, the youngster from Arequipa, Peru came up with the innovative idea of an eco-bank, which allows kids of all ages to gain economic independence—while also helping the environment.Established in 2012, the Bartselana Student Bank is the world's first bank for kids. To open an account, kids have to bring in at least 5 kilograms of solid waste (paper or plastic) and establish a savings goal. Once accepted, all bank "partners" are required to deposit(存储) at least one additional kilogram of recyclables on a monthly basis and meet other requirements, such as attending financial education and environmental management workshops. The waste collected is sold to local recycling companies, who, thanks to Jose, pay a higher-than-market rate for everything brought in by Bartselana Student Bank members. The funds received are placed in the individual's account until his/her savings goal is reached. The account holder can then withdraw his/her money, or choose to leave it and continue to grow for a bigger target. "At the beginning, my teachers thought I was crazy," Jose recalls. "They did not understand that we are not the future of the country but its present. Luckily. I had the support of the school principal."By 2013, the bank had over 200 members who brought in one ton of recyclable waste. Today, the eco-bank, which now has the support of several local institutions, has ten educational centers. They are designed to teach the over 3,000 members both finance and environmental management. That was not because of his salary, which is a symbolic one dollar a year, but thanks to re-evaluation of Bloomberg financial news agency after the mayor bought a 20 percent stake from Merrill Lynch last year for 4.5 billion dollars.About 64 percent of the billionaires are self-made and their average age is 63.7, a slight rise resulting from the lower number of rich Russians and Chinese, whose average ages last year were 46 and 48.By contrast with that aging trend, Gates is a relatively youthful 53. The youngest billionaire prize this year goes to Albert von Thurn und Taxis of Germany, who is 25 and listed as having 2.1 billion dollars. But one of the young success stories from last year -- Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg -- dropped off the list altogether.1. Of all the billionaires mentioned above, who didn’t lose in the global recession?A. Bill Gates.B. Warren Buffet.C. Carlos Slim.D. Michael Bloomberg.答案解析:答案为D。

世界银行:全球经济正处于转折点
The global economy is at a "turning point", the World B ank has said, as it forecasts stronger growth for 2014.
世界银行称,全球经济正处于“转折点”,并预测2014年将有强势增长。

In its annual report on the world economy, the bank said richer countries appeared to be "finally turning a corner" after the financial crisis.
That is expected to support stronger growth in developing economies.
But it warned growt h prospects "remained vulnerable" to the impact of the withdrawal of economic stimulus measures in the US.
The US Federal Reserve has already begun to wind down its monthly bond-buyin g programme, previously set at $85bn (£52bn) a month.
'Crisis risks'
There is concern this could push up global interest rates, which could affect the flow of money in and out of developing countries and l ead to more volatile
int ernational financial markets.
The World Bank warned that some developing countries "could face crisis risks" if the unwinding of stimulus measures was accompanied by market volatility.
"Growth appears to be strengthen ing in both high-in come and developing countries, but downside risks continue to threaten the global economic recovery," said World Bank group president Jim Yong Kim.
"The performance of advanced economies is gaining momentum, and this should support stronger growth in developing countries in the months ahead. Still, to accelerate poverty reduction, developing nations will need to adopt structural reforms that promote job cr eation, strengthen financial systems, and shore up social safety nets."
The bank forecasts that global GDP will grow by 3.2% this year, up from 2.4% in 2013, with much of the pick-up coming from developed economies.
Developing nations will grow by 5.3% this year, up from 4.8% in 2013.
In an interview with BBC economics correspondent Andrew Wal ker, World Bank economist Andrew Burns acknowledged that Brazil, Turkey, India and Indonesia were among the countries that could be vulnerable to the impact of US stimulus withdrawal.
However he also noted that the first concrete steps taken by the Federal Reserve to cut back its programme of buying financial assets last month did not severely disturb the markets.。
