Audio Codec的必要性在理想状况下,对于录音过程,只需要将麦克风获取到的analog信号通过ADC转换为digital信号并存储即可,对于播放音过程,只需要将digital信号通过DAC转换为analog并输出到speaker播放即可。

但在实际的过程中,对于录音过程而言,会受到外界声源的干扰,麦克风自身对信号的衰减以及物理链路接口上引入的杂音等因素的影响,对于放音,可能会受digital数据本身的问题等因素的影响。

举个简单的例子,拿着手机或者固定电话和别人讲话的时候,虽然一边自己说话,一边听电话另外一端的人讲话,但是从听筒中并没有非常明显的听到自己的讲话声音。

这中间就是一些Audio Codec在起作用,它们可以实现回音消除,噪音抵消,以及ALC/Limiter等,当然它也实现了最重要的AD和DA功能。

ALC(automatic level control)不知道怎么来翻译这个词语,姑且称之为动态电压控制。

通过检测系统中的analog信号来判断是否超过Codec中设定的Max/Min值,如果超过的话,则去根据设定的attack rate和release rate来调整analog的电压,以达到使其介于一个合理范围内的目的。

所谓的attach rate其作用的过程就是增益增大(电压降低)的过程,而release rate则是增益减小(电压增高)的过程,如下图所示:实际使用过程中,ALC功能所能够达到的效果如下图:从图中可以看到,对于超过Max强度的电压,通过调整attach过程将其降低,反之则通过release将其增大。

对于一般的Codec芯片而言,使用ALC功能的时候都要去配置Max/Min的threshold(db)值,以及Attach rate和Release Rate(快or慢)。

Limiter不知道应该怎么翻译这个词。

与ALC类似,Limiter也是去检测analog信号的强度,当大于用于设置的threshold的时候通过直接对信号进行截断处理,也有的Codec不是野蛮的进行截断处理,而是采用类似ALC调整Gain的方法来调整analog信号的强度。

Input/outputASIO4ALL v2,声卡选择。

Auto close device ,自动关闭声卡,当声卡与其它使用声卡的设备有冲突,点亮这个,在最小化FL Studio时,其它设备可以暂时使用会冲突的声卡。

Sample rate(Hz),采样速率选择,最好选择44100,碰到兼容问题时再选择其它的试试(不兼容一般是采样出现音调问题)。

Buffer length :缓冲长度,缓冲长度越长越不容易出现爆音,但是延迟会增加。

Show ASIO panel,打开声卡设置。

Clock source,时钟源,如果声卡驱动有提供就可以改善同步输出问题。

Mix in buffer switch,在缓冲区混音,能达到更低的延迟。

Triple buffer,三倍缓冲区,能改善当CPU达到最大负荷时和序出现的问题。

使用板载声卡时其它的与上面讲的都一样,Offset,专为windows vista准备的开关,能改善驱动性能。

Use polling,在大部分电脑上点亮此项能获得更小的缓冲,有些电脑不行(很诡异,说明书是这么说的)。

Use hardware buffer,使用音频硬件缓冲。

Use 32Bit buffer,使用 32位浮点缓冲(仅在windows XP版本以上试用)。

Priority,优先级别。

高级别CPU 使用率高时,崩溃率更高;低级别缓冲区欠载率更高。

Safe overloads,选中,当CPU使用率高时,会留一点给FL Studio的图形界面,否则容易出现假死现像。

Underruns,欠载数,缓冲区太少时容易欠载,出现爆音。

Playback tracking,回放指示器跟踪。

Driver,根据驱动程序用于播放批示。

Hybrid,混合跟踪。

Mixer,根据设音台延迟跟踪。

Offset,设置播放指示器偏移。

Abstract-In this paper, we propose a low-complexity scalable audio coding algorithm using an over sampled discrete wavelet transform (ODWT). The aliased free coefficients obtained are then used to accurately calculate the forward temporal masking threshold. The algorithm based on the bandwidth scalability, uses bits per sub-band and bits per frame, as outlined in this paper. Subjective tests conforming to ITU-R BS.1116 for audio signals show that the audio signals coded at 32 and 64 kbits/s using an ODWT with temporal masking offered a better audio quality compared to the critically sampled DWT.

A. Overview The block diagram of the scalable audio coder used in this work is shown in Figure 1. Eight level decompositions of the over sampled discrete wavelet transform (ODWT) are performed using the "a Trous" algorithm [4]. The wavelet coefficients obtained from the ODWT are then used for masking threshold calculations. The critically sampled wavelet coefficients are available as a subset of the over sampled wavelet coefficients and therefore the increase of computational load from the ODWT only occurs at the encoder, thus the decoder is unaffected.
efficient embedded audio coding (EAC) algorithm outperforms the audio compression standards [2]. However, in all these audio compression algorithms, an accurate calculation of auditory masking threshold is essential for efficient compression. Wavelets are especially suitable for scalable audio coding because their multi resolution property can be directly applied to bandwidth scalability [1]. Many existing audio coders use a critically sampled DWT for the decomposition of audio signals and these coders normally perform the calculation of masking thresholds directly on the aliased coefficients produced by the DWT. Recently, an over sampled DWT has been proposed in [2] to calculate the masking threshold more accurately and to produce an improvement in the audio quality that was coded at approximately 96 kbps. Moreover, temporal masking has been found to reduce the bit rate while maintaining transparent quality [2, 3]. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity scalable audio coding algorithm using the ODWT incorporating a temporal masking model combined with a simultaneous masking model to achieve an efficient compression.

INTRODUCTION The basic objective in audio coding is to achieve transparent quality in the reconstructed audio signal at a minimal bit rate. Motivation for this emerges from various applications, such as audio over Internet and digital broadcasting that has bandwidth limitation in transmitting the digital data. The challenge is to get a better audio quality from an audio signal sent through a limited-bandwidth channel, where different applications may require different bandwidths. This aliasing will be cancelled out in the decoder, but due to the fact that masking calculation is performed before the decoding process using these aliased coefficients, it results in an inaccurate masking threshold. The ODWT provides aliasfree wavelet coefficients and as a result, an accurate masking threshold is obtained. The masking threshold is normally calculated using subband signal power. Suppose that we define Pos and PCs as the energy of the wavelet coefficient with maximum energy in each sub-band using the ODWT and CSDWT, respectively. Figure 2 shows the possibility of two conditions of Pos and Pcs, that is Pos > Pcs and Pos =PCs where five audio materials were used to verify these conditions. It can be concluded that a more accurate signal power can be calculated using the aliased free wavelet coefficients obtained in ODWT than using CSDWT. Results show that this is true for almost 90O on average [6].
B.
Oversampled Discrete Wavelet Transform The critically sampled DWT is a very powerful tool in audio coding, as it results in a compact, yet complete representation of an audio signal [3]. In addition, it also allows sub-band decomposition that approximates the critical band structure of the human auditory system.
