英语重点语法解析a puma at large
英语重点语法解析a puma at largePumas are large, cat-like animals which are found in America. When reports came into London Zoo that a wild puma had been spotted forty-five miles south of London, they were not taken seriously.节选《新概念英语3-A puma at large》文章解读:(1)a puma at large这是本文的题目,非常的简短,但却不容易看懂。
The disease is still at large.
先看一个例子:①I have a brother who is an actor.②I have a brother ,who is an actor.

Thirteen equals one
Our vicar is always raising money for a cause or another, but he has never managed to get enough money to have the church clock repaired. The big clock which used to strike hours day and night was damaged many years ago and has been slient ever since.
One night, however, our vicar woke up with a start, the clock was striking the hours. Looking at his watch, he saw that it was one o’clock, but the bell struck thirteen times before it stopped. Armed with a torch, our vicar went up into the clock tower to see what was going on. In the torchlight , he caught sight of a figure whom he immedelatly recognized as Bill Wilkings, our grocer. Whatever are you doing up here, asked vicar in surprise. I am trying to repair the bell, answer Bill. I have been coming up here night after night for weeks now. You see, I was going to give you a surprise. You sertainly did give me a surprise, said the vicar. You have probably woken up everyone in the village as well. Still, I am glad that the bell is working again. But the trouble is, answered Bill, the bell is working all right, but I’m afraid that at one o’clock it will strick thirteen
times there’s nothing I can do about it. We will used to that, Bill, said the vicar, thirteen is not as good as one, but it’s better than nothing. Now, let’s go downstairs and have a cup of a tea.。
