Middle Cuiyan Peak(翠岩峰)
Mountain wutai is one of the earliest places to build Buddhist temple in China. Since the eastern han (58～75)years, the ancient temples built with magnificent pagoda and temples. All of those are the ancient architecture and cultural resources.

Mount wutai is located in Xinzhou city, Wutai country, Shanxi province. It is one fo four major buddhist mountain in china and one of five famous major buddhist holy places.
Tayuan Temple(塔院寺)
Tayuan temple is bulit by nepal artisan anege in yuan dynasty. There is a white tower in the temple. The white tower is the symbol of the mount wutai.
Mount wutai is majestic and is surrounded by a circumference of 250 square kilometer, with a total area of 592.88 square kilometer.
It is consist of five peaks. They are East Wanghai Peak, West Guayue Peak, South Jinxiu Peak, North Yedou Peak and Middle Cuiyan Peak.
East Wanghai Peak(望海峰)
The east peak rises 2795 metres above sea level.
West Guayue Peak (挂月峰) The west peak rises 2773 metres above sea level.
South Jinxiu Peak(锦绣峰) The south peak rises 2485 metres above sea level.
North Yedou Peak(叶斗峰)
• The north peak is the highest peak rising 3061.1 metres above sea level. • It is be referred to as “the roof of north china”.
The top of mountain is covered of a year-round ice.
Sculpture, stone carving, murals and calligraphy all over the temples, all have high artistic value.
Temple
• The total amount of temples were more than 300 in Tang dynasty, but lots of them were destroyed by several changes. • At present both inside and outside temples are 47 seats. • The Foguang temple and South Zen temple are the earliest two existing wooden structures. • Xiantong temple, Tayuan temple, Pusa temple, Shuxiang temple and Luohou temple are listed as “five zen places in mount wutai ”.
Achievement
In 1992, Ministry of Forestry approved mount wutai as a “national forest park”. In January, 2001, the National Tourism Administration approved for “the first national AAAA level scenic areas”. In September, 2005, mount wutai passed through the evaluation of the fourth national geological park, became “national geological park”. In June 26th, 2009, the 33rd World Heritage Committee held in Seville in Spain, mount wutai is included in the “world heritage list”.

Assembly of hinny is held at june in the traditional Chinese calendar every year. It is a biggest domestic animals exchange committee. At that time, chanting sutras is the major item.

According to legend, mount wutai is the place for sermoning by Manjushri.
Jump Cloth Pierced (跳布扎)
Jump cloth pierced originated from Tibet. Yellow religion held it at june 15th in the traditional Chinese calendar every year. At the previous day, Lama will chant hufajing (护法经), jump jingangwu(金刚舞) and crackdown ghost at pusa peak. At 15th, lama will come to luohou temple to jump god(跳神). At 16th, lama will kill ghost at pusa peak. The function of All activities is to banish evil.

Xiantong Temple(显通寺)
It is located in the middle of taihuai town, is the oldest and biggest temple in mount wutai. This temple is built in han dynasty, named dafulingjiu temple(大孚灵鹫寺). According to the huayanjing, wu zetian renamed it as dahuayan temple(大华严寺). In ming dynasty, ming taizu rebuilt and named daxiantong temple(大显通寺). At present, it is 120 mu, has 400 seats of buildings.
• Mount Wutai (Shanxi Province), Mount Ermei (Sichuan Province), Mount Jiuhua (Anhui Province) and Mount Putuo (Zejiang Province) are reffered to as “four famous moutain of chinese buddhist”. • Mount Wutai is known as “five famous major buddhist holy places” with Nepal Lumbini Garden, India Migaranna, Bodh Gaya and Kushinagar Buddha.
