Procedure:

Introduction (5 minutes):

3. Show students a short video clip or images of people greeting each other in different situations to spark their interest in the topic.

4. Ask students if they know any common greetings in English and write their responses on the board.

Presentation (10 minutes):

1. Introduce the new vocabulary related to greetings and common sayings by showing flashcards or pictures.

2. Explain the meanings and usage of each word or phrase and provide examples.

3. Ask students to repeat after you to practice pronunciation. Practice (20 minutes):

1. Divide the students into pairs or small groups.

2. Distribute handouts with greetings and sayings in English and their Chinese translations.

3. Instruct students to match the English phrases with their Chinese translations.

4. Monitor students' progress and provide assistance when needed.

5. Check the answers together as a whole class.

Production (15 minutes):

1. Engage students in a conversation activity where they can practice using greetings and sayings in English.

2. Pair up students and give them a role-play scenario, such as two friends meeting after a long time or a receptionist greeting a guest.

3. Encourage students to use the new vocabulary they have learned during the role-play.

4. Observe students' conversations and provide feedback on their

language use.

Extension (5 minutes):

1. Ask students to create their own dialogues using greetings and sayings.

2. Invite a few students to share their dialogues with the class.
