格式1) 信头(Heading);2) 称呼(Salutation);3) 正文(Body of the letter);4) 结束语(Complimentary close);5) 签名(signature)。

26 Coventry St.LondonSept. 15th, 1999.Dear Jack,I am going to the cinema to see the Red River Valley and I have two tickets. Would you like to come? The film starts at 7:30 . Maybe we can meet at the Covent Garden Station at 7:00 . and have a drink before the film starts. Please phone me at home to let me know.Looking forward to seeing you.

When it comes to communication in the modern world, writing letters has become a lost art. In the digital age, we have become accustomed to the speed and convenience of email, text messages, and social media. However, the art of letter writing still holds great value, especially for students in middle school. Crafting a well-written letter not only helps to develop essential communication skills, but it also allows individuals to express themselves in a more thoughtful and personal manner. In the context of middle school, letter writing can serve various purposes. It can be used to maintain connections with family and friends, to apply for academic programs or internships, or to express gratitude or appreciation. Regardless of the specific purpose, understanding the correct letter format is crucial to ensure that the message is conveyed effectively and professionally. The standard format for a middle school English letter typically consists of several key components. The first element is the heading, which includes the writer's address and the date. This information istypically aligned to the right side of the page. The next section is the salutation, which is the greeting used to address the recipient. Common salutations include "Dear [Name]," or "To Whom It May Concern."The body of the letter is the main content, where the writer expresses their thoughts, requests, or information. This section should be organized into well-structured paragraphs, each focusing on a specific idea or topic. The language used should be clear, concise, and appropriate for the intended audience. I still remember some people told me that in Britain there was weather and no climate. During the same day, it might snow in the morning, rain at noon, shine in the afternoon and be windy before the night falls. So I think I was lucky.I think the river trip was the best thing of all. London really camealive for me as we saw it from the Thames during that wonderful journey down to Greenwich. I did my five years' basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the People's General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic. As a result of the publication in 20__ of my article in New Scientist entitled Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses , which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients. Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.I enclose a detailed curriculum vitae and an offprint of my article, together with two letters of recommendation from Dr. Li Ming and Dr. Ma Li. 1Dear Grandma,How are you doing? I hope you and grandpa are staying healthy and safe over there. It's been a couple of months since I last wrote to you, so I thought I'd send you a long letter to update you on everything that's been happening in my life lately!First of all, I want to tell you about my new class at school. This year, I'm in 8th grade, which means I'm one of the oldest students at my school now. It feels kind of weird being one of the "big kids" after being one of the youngest for so many years. My new class has some familiar faces from last year, but also a bunch of new students that transferred in from other schools. My favorite new classmate is a girl named Emily. She's really nice and we've become pretty good friends already. Emily just moved to our city from America, so her English is perfect! She's been helping me a lot with practicing my English conversation skills. Sometimes we'll spend our lunch breaks just chatting inEnglish about our favorite movies, books, video games, you name it! It's been really fun getting to know her.In other news, the teachers have been piling on way more homework this year compared to previous grades. I've had to spend at least 2-3 hours every night working on assignments for Chinese, math, English, and all my other classes. It's been pretty tough, but I'm trying my best to stay on top of everything. I realized that effective time management and planning out my work schedule is really important now that I'm getting older. No more leaving things until the very last minute!Sports-wise, I'm still playing badminton for the school team. We had our first big tournament last month and I'm proud to say that our team took 3rd place! I didn't play as well as I could have in the finals match, but it lit a new fire under me to practice harder for the next tournament. Coach Wang has been pushing us really hard in practice lately with all kinds of crazy drills and conditioning exercises. My muscles are always sore after badminton practice, but I know it will pay off when I get stronger and improve my endurance on the court. One of the biggest highlights for me recently was when our class went on a field trip to the science museum downtown. It was a huge museum with all kinds of interactive exhibits onphysics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, you name it. My favorite areas were probably the physics section, where you could experiment with levers, pulleys, momentum, and all that cool stuff. I also loved the space exhibit, where we got to see real pieces of meteorites and learn all about the planets, galaxies, and latest space missions. The best part was definitely the planetarium show though - we got to lay back and watch a simulation of the entire universe projected all around us on the dome ceiling. It was breathtaking! In my free time, I've been really getting into photography lately. I badgered my parents for weeks until they finally gave in and bought me a nice digital camera for my birthday last month. Now I've been taking it everywhere I go and snapping photos of anything and everything I can. Landscapes, nature, architecture, you name it. I even set up my own little photo studio in my bedroom using some lamps and backdrops I made myself. My current subjects are my two pet hamsters - they're so cute and make perfect little models! I've been posting my favorite shots on my new Instagram account dedicated just to my photography. Maybe I'll become a famous photographer someday!Well, I could probably go on forever, but I'll stop here for now. I hope you enjoyed this nice long update letter! I attachedsome of my favorite recent photos I've taken. Let me know if you have any advice for improving my photography skills. I miss you and grandpa so much and can't wait until you're able to come visit us again soon. Stay happy and healthy!Love,Li Hua篇2Dear Aunt Lily,How are you doing? I hope this letter finds you well. It's been a while since we last spoke, so I thought I'd write to you and tell you all about what's been going on in my life lately.First of all, school has been keeping me really busy this year. Being in 8th grade is a lot of work! We have so many classes and assignments to keep up with. My favorite subjects are still math and science – I just find them really fascinating. Math is like a puzzle that needs to be solved, and science helps us understand how the world around us works. Pretty cool, right? In math class, we've been learning about algebra and equations. I have to admit, it was a bit confusing at first, but my teacher is really good at explaining things clearly. She uses a lotof examples and visuals to help us understand the concepts better. I'm starting to get the hang of it now, and I even find solving equations kind of fun!Science has been a blast too. We've been learning about biology and the human body. Did you know that the human body is made up of trillions of cells? And each cell has a specific job to do? It's just amazing how complex and well-designed our bodies are. We've also been doing a lot of experiments in the lab, which I really enjoy. Getting hands-on experience makes learning the concepts so much easier.Apart from academics, I've also been keeping myself busy with extracurricular activities. I joined the school's basketball team this year, and we've been practicing really hard. Our team made it to the semi-finals of the inter-school tournament, but unfortunately, we lost in the last few minutes of the game. It was disappointing, but I'm still proud of how far we made it. Playing basketball has taught me a lot about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.I'm also a part of the school's drama club, and we've been rehearsing for our annual play. This year, we're performing a comedy called "The Chaos of Middle School." It's a hilarious show about the ups and downs of being a middle school student.I'm playing the role of the class clown, and it's been so much fun getting into character. Acting on stage is a bit nerve-wracking, but it's also incredibly rewarding when you hear the audience laughing at your jokes. In my free time, I've been trying to pick up a new hobby –photography. Dad got me a new camera for my birthday, andI've been experimenting with taking pictures of nature and landscapes. There's a beautiful park near our house, and I often go there to capture the changing seasons and the different plants and animals. It's amazing how a simple photograph can freeze a moment in time and make it last forever.Oh, and I can't forget to mention my best friend, Amy. We've been inseparable since kindergarten, and she's been such a great support system for me. We often hang out after school, either at each other's houses or at the local mall. We love trying out new foods and exploring different stores and boutiques. Amy has a great sense of style, and she's always encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and try new fashion trends.Speaking of fashion, I've been trying to develop my own personal style lately. I used to just wear whatever was comfortable, but now I'm starting to pay more attention to how I dress and accessorize. I've been experimenting with differentcombinations of clothes and trying to find what works best for me. It's been a lot of fun, and I've even started following some fashion bloggers on social media for inspiration. That's pretty much what's been going on in my life lately, Aunt Lily. I know this letter has gotten quite long, but I had so much to share with you. I hope you found it interesting and that it gave you a glimpse into the life of a busy 8th grader.I can't wait to hear back from you and catch up on what's been happening in your life too. Please give my love to Uncle Tom and cousins Jenny and Michael.Love,Li Hua篇3Dear Aunt Emily,How are you doing? I hope this letter finds you well. I'm writing to tell you all about my life here in Guangzhou. So much has happened since you last visited two years ago!Let me start by telling you about school. I'm now in 8th grade at Guangzhou Middle School. Can you believe I'll be graduating from middle school next year? Time has flown by soquickly! My favorite subjects are still math and science. I find the logic and problem-solving aspects really fascinating. English class is quite challenging for me though. As you know, Chinese is my first language, so trying to write complicated essays in English is very difficult. My English teacher is always correcting my grammar and vocabulary. I have to spend a lot of extra time studying English vocabulary lists and doing grammar exercises. I really want to improve my English skills before I get to high school next year. Most of my close friends are in the same classes as me. My best friend is still Xiao Ming, that mischievous boy I've known since kindergarten. He's really funny and always finding ways to make me laugh, even when I'm stressed out about tests or homework. Speaking of Xiao Ming, let me tell you what happened last month that got us both in trouble! We were joking around during lunch and decided it would be funny to have a food fight. Big mistake! We ended up getting detention for making such a huge mess in the cafeteria. My parents were not pleased when they found out. At least Xiao Ming and I suffered through detention together. That's what best friends are for, right? When I'm not studying or hanging out with friends, I really enjoy playing basketball. I'm on the school's basketball team and we practice twice a week after classes. Our team is pretty good and we've won a few tournaments against other local middle schools. I love the feeling of running up and down the court, working as a team, and scoring points. Basketball helps me stay active and relieves a lot of stress from my busy school schedule. I'm actually quite tall for my age, so basketball is a perfect sport for me. Who knows, maybe I'll try out for the high school team next year? You'll be happy to know that I'm still helping out a lot at home too. Even with my busy schedule, I always find time to do chores and look after my little brother Jian. He's five years old now and already such a handful! I often have to help him get ready for bed, read him stories, and make sure he finishes his dinner. Taking care of him can be exhausting, but I remember how you always looked after me when I was little. Having a younger sibling tests my patience, but it's also helped me become more responsible. I'm sure the experience will make me an excellent parent myself someday! This summer, my parents are planning an amazing family vacation. We're going to spend two weeks traveling arounddifferent parts of China! I'm most excited about visiting Beijing to see iconic sites like the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and of course, the Great Wall of China. We'll also go to Xian to view the Terracotta Warriors. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and get souvenirs for you. Experiencing different cities and their rich histories will be such an educational experience. I just hope the travel doesn't disrupt my summer homework too much!Well Aunt Emily, I could go on and on, but I'll stop here for now. Thank you for always sending me such nice gifts and letters from America. I feel very lucky to have a cool aunt like you. Please give my love to Uncle David and cousins Anna and Jake. I miss you all and hope you can visit us again soon!Hugs,Li Hua篇4Dear Aunt Lily,How are you doing? I'm writing to let you know about my life here in Beijing over the past few months. So much has happened that I can hardly keep up!First of all, school has been really hard this year. We just started studying for our high school entrance exams and the teachers are piling on so much homework. Just last week, I had to write an entire 800 word essay on environmental protection for my Chinese class. My hand was cramping so badly by the end! And that was just one assignment. In math, we're learning about quadratic equations and graphing parabolas. I have to admit, it's pretty confusing stuff. Sometimes I stay up past midnight just trying to wrap my head around the concepts. My math teacher Mr. Wang is really strict too. If you don't understand something, he'll just tell you to "study harder!" No sympathy at all.At least English class is interesting. We're reading some short stories by famous Western authors. Last month, it was a strange one by Franz Kafka about a guy who turned into a big insect! Our teacher Ms. Lee always has us look for the deeper meaning and symbolism though. I'm just trying not to fail the class to be honest.Remember my friend Xiao Ming that I've told you about? He's driving me crazy lately! We were assigned as lab partners in science, and he never does any of the work. I'm usually the one setting up all the equipment and taking notes while he just jokesaround. Last week, he accidentally spilled chemicals all over the lab bench because he wasn't paying attention. We both got an hour of detention because of him! So annoying. At least I have basketball practice to take my mind off things after school. Our team is in training for the city-wide tournament coming up next month. Coach Yao has us running drills and scrimmaging every day to get ready. I'm one of the starting guards, so no slacking allowed! The pressure is on to win it all this year.I don't know if I told you, but I joined the school's environmental club too. We've been organizing recycling campaigns and doing park clean-ups on the weekends. It's actually been really fun getting out there and doing something positive. Though I did get scolded by the club president last week for accidentally throwing my banana peel in the wrong bin! She takes this stuff very seriously.Speaking of the environment, there was a really bad bout of air pollution in Beijing a couple weeks ago. The smog was so thick that I could hardly see across the street. School was even canceled for a few days until it cleared up. My parents made me wear an air filter mask any time I went outside. It felt like I couldbarely breathe! I'm just hoping that the government does more to reduce emissions soon.On a happier note, my birthday is coming up next month! I'll finally be turning 14 years old. I already told my parents that I want to have a big party and invite all my friends over. We're going to order pizza, play video games, and maybe even watch a movie. Though my younger brother already warned me that he's going to embarrass me in front of my friends like he always does. We'll have to keep him locked in his room!Well, I should probably get going for now. That math homework isn't going to do itself! Thanks for always letting me vent to you. Say hi to Uncle Jim for me. I'll try to write again soon!Your nephew,Li Hua篇5Dear Grandma,How are you? I hope you are doing well and enjoying the warm spring weather in our hometown village. Things are going great here in the city where I live with Mom and Dad. School juststarted up again after the long winter break, and I'm back in my 8th grade classes. I can't believe I'll be graduating from middle school soon! It feels like just yesterday I was a little kid, but now I'm almost a teenager. Time really does fly. This semester I'm taking some interesting new classes. My favorite is probably English literature. We're reading some classic stories and poems from British and American writers. I have to admit, some of them are pretty confusing and hard to understand at first! But our teacher Mr. Wang is really good at explaining them in a way that makes sense. He has us discuss the deeper meanings and themes with our classmates too, which I enjoy.Just last week, we read the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Have you ever read that one, Grandma? It's about a traveler in the woods who has to choose between two paths to take. The poem talks about how he picks the road less traveled, and how that "has made all the difference." Mr. Wang said it's a metaphor for making tough choices in life, and not just following the crowd. It made me think about the different paths I could take after graduating - like whether to go to a regular high school, or try for a spot at one of the top schools. I'm going towork really hard and see if I can get into a good university program.Math class is okay, but certainly not my favorite. We're getting into some pretty complicated stuff like algebra and geometry. Why do we need to learn about solving for x or calculating the area of shapes anyway? I'll probably never use most of this stuff once I'm an adult! Although I have to admit, some of the logic puzzles we do can be kind of fun when I'm in the right mood. I just wish math class didn't take up so much time that I could spend on other subjects instead. My best class is definitely art though. I just love being creative and working with colors, brushes, clay, and all sorts of different materials. We've been practicing still life drawings lately by observing bottles, vases, fruits and other objects then trying to sketch them realistically. My shading skills have really improved! Next month we'll start on self-portraits, which I'm excited about. I've always enjoyed drawing pictures of myself, friends and family members. Who knows, maybe I'll become a famous artist someday? In my free time after school, I've been helping out at the local community center a few days a week. They have anafter-school program there where volunteers can assist youngerkids with their homework, play games and do activities with them. It's actually been really fun! The little kids are so full of energy and chaotic at times, but also really sweet andwell-behaved for the most part. And it feels good to be giving back to my community. Plus I'm earning some pocket money from the volunteer hours, which will start adding up.I've been putting that money aside to hopefully go on the big 8th grade trip we have coming up in a couple months. Each year, the middle school takes the graduating 8th graders on a5-day trip to one of the major cities in China. This year we're going to Beijing! I've never been to a huge city like that before. We'll get to go see all the famous sights like the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Great Wall, and so much more. I'm really looking forward to it but also a little nervous since I've never traveled that far from home before without my parents. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and get souvenirs for you!Oh, I almost forgot to tell you - remember my friend Xiaoming who moved away last year? His family is moving back to our city soon! Xiaoming and I have already been making plans for all the fun things we'll do together when he's back. We're going to join the school basketball team, go to the mall, maybe even start a band if we can find some other kids who want to join.Xiaoming was my best friend growing up, so I'm super excited to have him living nearby again.Well, I should probably start wrapping this up since I still have a bunch of homework to do tonight (ugh, don't get me started on that physics assignment...). Thanks for always lending an ear and letting me tell you what's new in my life, Grandma. I really appreciate you being such a great listener. I'll make sure to give you a call on your birthday coming up next week!Love,Li Hua篇6Dear Grandma,How are you doing? I miss you so much! It's been a few months since I last saw you during the winter break. I hope everything is going well with you and grandpa back in our hometown. Things are keeping me busy here as school is in full swing.Let me tell you about what's been happening lately. Last week, we had our school's annual sports day event. It was so much fun! The day started with an energetic opening ceremonywhere all the students marched into the sports field behind their class banners. The school band played upbeat music to get everyone excited. Then the competition events began. There were all sorts of track and field events like sprints, long distance runs, long jumps, and relay races. My favorite was the obstacle course race where we had to crawl under nets, hop through tires, and climb over walls. It was tough but I managed to come in 3rd place for my grade level! I was super proud. The best part was the tug-of-war tournament in the afternoon. Our class had been training hard, doing push-ups and other strength exercises to get ready. When it was our turn, we dug our feet into the ground and pulled with every ounce of strength. It was an intense battle against the 5th graders, with both teams straining and digging in. But in the end, we were victorious! We all celebrated by jumping up and down, cheering at the top of our lungs. Winning that tug-of-war made me feel like a champion. After the events, we had a big outdoor luncheon. The parents had set up grills and prepared all sorts of delicious foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, fried rice, and fresh fruits. I ate so much that I could hardly move afterwards! Once I had digested abit, I joined my friends in preparing a special performance for the school talent show that happened right after lunch. We had practiced singing and dancing to a popular song for weeks. When it was our turn on stage, I was pretty nervous at first. But once the music started playing, the rhythm took over and we nailed every move and vocal melody. The cheers and applause from the crowd made us feel like superstars! It was such a thrilling experience to perform on that big stage in front of the whole school. As the day came to a close, I felt completely exhausted but extremely happy. Winning tug-of-war, performing wonderfully, and spending the day with my classmates made it an unforgettable experience. Sports day is definitely one of the highlights of being a student here.In other news, my best friend Jacob got a new puppy last month. It's a cute little golden retriever that he named Sunny. Jacob brings Sunny over to play at the park sometimes after school. We take turns throwing tennis balls for Sunny to fetch. It's really funny watching that little ball of energy sprint around with his tongue hanging out. Sunny has also been coming to our weekly soccer games, chasing after the ball whenever it rolls outof bounds. He's still just a puppy though, so he gets tired out pretty quickly from all that running around.Speaking of soccer, our team had a big game against our rivals from the school across town two weeks ago. We've been undefeated so far this season, so we were feeling pretty confident. The game was an intense back-and-forth battle. We took an early 1-0 lead in the first half off a beautiful header goal by our star striker. But they equalized right before halftime with a long-range shot that snuck past our goalkeeper. In the second half, both teams had lots of close chances but couldn't capitalize. We had a player get a red card for a bad foul, so we had to play a man down for the last 20 minutes. Despite being shorthanded, we fought hard and managed to hold them to a 1-1 tie. It wasn't the win we wanted, but we'll take the hard-earned point. Our coaches told us they were proud of our never-give-up attitude.I've also been keeping busy with my weekly volunteer job at the local animal shelter. Every Saturday morning, I go there to help take care of the cats and dogs. My main tasks are cleaning out the kennels, providing fresh food and water, and spending quality playtime with the animals to keep them active and happy.Getting licked by all those furry friends always puts a big smile on my face!Last weekend, the shelter had an adoption event where they waived all the fees to help find homes for as many pets as possible. It was so heartwarming to see families pick out their new four-legged companions. By the end of the day, over 30 cats and dogs had found forever homes. Knowing I played a small role in making that happen made me feel really good inside. I'm already looking forward to my next volunteer shift.Well, that's about all my news for now grandma. I need to get started on my math homework for tonight. Thank you for the delicious snacks you sent - the peanut brittle is my favorite! I'm counting down the days until summer break when I can come visit you again. Please give my love to grandpa. I'll write again soon!Your loving grandson,Li Hua。

Dear Mr. / Ms.,This is to introduce Mr. Frank Jones, our new marketing specialist who will be in London from April 5 to mid April on business. We shall appreciate any help you can give Mr. Jones and will always be happy to reciprocate.Yours faithfully, xxx正文(body of the letter 篇二位置在下面称呼语隔一行,是信的核心部分。

(1)写给家人、亲戚,用your loving grandfather,lovingly yours,lovingly等;(2)写给熟人、朋友,用yours cordially,yours affectionately等;(3)写业务信函用truely yours(yours truely),faithfully yours(yours faithfully)等;(4)对上级、长辈用yours obediently(obediently yours),yours respectfully(respectfully yours)等。

2. 信头/个人信头(letterhead/personal letterhead)
在非正式书信中,称呼后用逗号.(注意:尽量避免使用“to whom it may concern”或“dear sir or madam”,因为这种称呼已经过时,并且不很友好.
7. 提示句(选择性)attention line(optional)
8. 主题句(选择性)subject line(optional)
9. 正文(body of the letter)
