英语故事 豌豆公主

The Princess and the Peaby Hans Christian Andersen (1835)ONCE upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess. One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate, and the old king went to open it. It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess. “Well, we’ll soon find that out,” thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses. On this the princess had to lie all night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept. “Oh, very badly!” said she. “I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It’s horrible!” Now they knew t hat she was a real princess because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty eider-down beds. Nobody but a real princess could be as sensitive as that. So the prince took her for his wife, for now he knew that he had a real princess; and the pea was put in the museum, where it may still be seen, if no one has stolen it. There, that is a true story.。

Conclusion (4)Works Cite (5)1.1 Purpose of this studyThe paper studies The Princess and the Pea which was written by Hans Christian Andersen. As we all know,Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales are s imple and can satisfy our need for beauty. The Princess and the Pea is also simple and easy to understand. What’s more,it ends up with happiness. However, the purpose of this study is not about those. The main role of The Princess and the Pea is the princess who is regarded as sensitive as usual. But this paper wants to conclude more and more information about the princess’s character under the guide of Deconstruction. The purpose of this study is to show that the princess is brave and innocent instead of being sensitive. On the basis of study, there are meaningful philosophies that can be achieved. And those philosophies will be the lamps to light up our path where there are difficulties and challenges. The study shares different princess’s characters with all of you and encourages more and more people to be strong enough and be grateful for our life.1.2 Introduction to The Princess and the PeaThe Princess and the Pea mainly tells that how a prince’mother tested a young woman who was seeking shelter in the their castle.Because they did not sure whether she was a real princess.By placing a pea under 20 mattresses and 20 eider-down quilts on the bed ,the princess told that she got a sleepless night for that she was kept awake by something hard in the bed in the next morning. Not only the prince but also his parents were happy, because they thought only a real princess would have the sensitivity to feel the pea. The princess and the prince finally got married. The fairy tale ends up with a happy ending.2.1Introduction to Deconstruction and commentsDeconstruction is a literary theory and philosophy of language originating principally from Jacques Derrida's 1967 work Of Grammatology.Deconstruction denies the possibility of a pure presence and of essential. It shows the pursuing of themeaning of a text to the point of exposing the supposed contradictions and internal oppositions upon which it is founded.Deconstruction generally tries to demonstrate any text is not a discrete whole but contains several irreconcilable and contradictory meanings;it also show any text therefore has more than one interpretation and the text itself links these interpretations inextricably.Besides deconstruction indicate that an interpretative reading cannot go beyond a certain point. As a whole, deconstruction encourages us to discovery different points for the object of your study. From Wikipedia, Maria Tatar notes that the prince ss’s sensitivity is enough to validate her nobility. "True" nobility derives not from an individual's birth but from their sensitivity. Toksvig thinks the child might believe the false idea that great ladies must always be so terribly thin-skinned.In views of The Princess and the Pea, the real princess is smart enough to accept test and finally she gets happiness. The fairy tale is a satire of the princess for she does not know common sense. In critical articles,it is said that the real people will turn out who they really are. Also the princess symbolizes the talented people who will finally find their position and achieve their own success.3.1The princess is innocentBy reading and taking notes for the plots, the princess is aware of something hard on her bed. Even the the pea is put under 20 mattresses and 20 eider-down quilts on the bed. Some critics draw a conclusion that the princess is sensitive. They think that it is obviously that the princess gets sleepless during the night and is kept aware of the pea. So she is so sensitive.Maria Tatar notes that Andersen's princess has no need to resort to establish her identity and her sensitivity is enough to validate her nobility. However, under the influence of Deconstruction,we know that it is partial to confirm that the princess is sensitive.Instead, the Princess is not aware of the pea on her bed due to her innocence. She never comes to that the prince’s mother will test her by putting a pea on her bed. The Princess must be protected well and almost no onecheat her in her former world. If she has her own parents and relatives, they must spoil her as a treasure and arrange everything well for her. What ’s more, it is said that the princess was caught by a heavy rain in this fairy tale, it was eager for the princess to find a safe place. She came to the prince’s castle and they accepted her. The princess finally got a safe place. The princess was happy at that moment and she was not aware of other test.As a whole, she is innocent rather than sensitive. And her innocence finally contributes to her happiness.3.2The princess is braveSome comments on the princess in The Princess and the Pea are that she is not brave enough for the noble role.According to the analysis of Hans Christian Andersen, critics come conclusion that the princess is not brave enough to indicate that she is a real princess.Andersen lived in a ordinary world he believed that the nobles were away from ordinary people and they were timid. For example, critic Paul Hazard believed that "the world Andersen witnessed—which encompassed sorrow, death, evil, and man's follies—is reflected in his tales," and most evidently in The Princess and the Pea. However under the guide of Deconstruction, we can get that the princess is brave form the analysis of the main plot. In fact, we do not know where the princess comes from and what is her life before. But it is true that she is caught by rain and struggles to find a shelter on one stormy night. This point shows she is brave. Firstly,it says:“It thundered and lightened and the rain streamed down in torrents. ” When she is faced with so terrible weather, the princess does not cry or shout in the rain instead of trying her best to seek safe place. Though the weather is bad, what’s more, the water runs down from her hair and her dress into the points of her shoes and out at the heels again. The princess does not give up and tells others that she is a real princess. Even when she is allowed to live in the prince's castle for a while, but the prince and his parents do not believe her.The princess is not unhappy and she sleeps as she is used to. So all in all, the princess is brave. To some degree, she is brave enough to face bad things. So we can not draw conclusion partly from the author for sometimes it is accurately.3.3The princess is optimisticIt is not accurate to say that the princess is negative. On the basis of watching some movies about The Princess and the Pea, some critics point that the princess has not found ways to prove that she is a real princess actively. She only said a sentence that she was a real princess. However, Deconstruction encourages us to analyze the princess from different parts and there will be different characters of the princess. So the point that the princess is optimistic is concluded. According to the fairy tale, when the princess was faced with the strange castle, she was not afraid of strange people. And she was not afraid of being harmed by others.Instead, she quickly joined in the princes’s family. What’s more, she told the queen her true f eeling about sleep. By this way, we know that the princess did not care where she was and what difficulties she would meet. She just cares the moment. She just wants to find a safe place and live simply. To some degree, she is point also optimistic .4. ConclusionThrough the study of The Princess and the Pea,It can be concluded that the princess is innocent、brave and optimistic. These are the princess’s characters that different from former characters. On the one hand, the former study focuses on the how author describes the fairy tale.On the other hand, some critics take the plot into account partly. So the princess’s characters include innocence、being brave and optimistic. Then due to the study for the princess’s characters,it shows that m aybe you are not in favor of the princess, but you can not deny her totally.Besides, you can find meaningful characters belonging to the princess. As a whole, there are three main philosophies that I gain from theprincess.Firstly,we all need to make our best to prove us that who we really are. After we get it,we can make our purpose clear.Secondly,we need to brave and strong enough to face difficulties upsetting us.Thirdly, there are always something complex waiting for us.So it is necessary for us to facilitate them. The Princess and the Pea is worth reading and studying.Works Cite【1】Andersen, Hans Christian. The Princess and the Pea,1835.<.il/princess.html>.【2】Wikipedia,22th Dec.2013.</wiki/Hans_Christian_Andersen>.【3】Davis Linell,Academic Writing for English Majors,Nanjing University Press. 【4】“Deconstruction.”OXFORD ADVANCED LEARNER’S English-Chinese Dictionary.6th Edition.【5】Swan Mark .Princess and the Pea,2002.</32460/>.【6】Andersen, Hans Christian (2000) [1871]. 101个儿童英语故事059A Princess and the Green PeaA long time ago, there was a prince of a country. When he grew old enough to marry, he decided to find a princess who was going to be his queen. So he started to travel all around the world. The prince visited many countries and searched for a beautiful and kind princess, but no princess seemed good enough to be his bride. "There is no great princess in this world." He was disappointed and went back to his country spiritlessly. One day, there was a frightening night of thunder, lightning, and very severe rainstorms. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door of the castle. "Who is it in the middle of this stormy night?" The king went out his room and opened the door by himself curiously. A girl in shabby clothes was standing in front of the door. Even though she looked tired from the severe rainstorm and the strong winds, she was beautiful and looked clever. She was soaking wet with rain. "I am a princess of your neighboring country, but I got lost. Could you please let me stay in your castle tonight." She asked him politely. The king was surprised to hear that the shabby girl was a princess, and he allowed her to stay in his castle out of pity. But the queen thought the girl was lying. 'Is the girl with those shabby clothes a princess? I am sure she is not a princess, but let her stay here with us tonight for the moment.'The queen thought to herself like this and went into a guest's room. She took all the sheets off the bed, and put a grain of a green pea on the bed. Then, she covered the bed with twenty layers of blankets and another twenty layers of soft bird feather blankets. The girl fell asleep in that bed.The next morning, the queen asked the girl, "Did you sleep well last night?" Then, she answered, "I appreciate your kindness, but there was something under the blankets. It hurt me so much I could hardly sleep last night."The queen was surprised at what she heard, and she thought that the girl must be a great princess. If the girl was so sensitive that she could not sleep well because of a green pea even under many blankets and soft bird feather blankets, she must be a noble princess. They found the noble princess accidentally. The prince was happy when he heard the story. The prince made the princess his wife. The green pea was displayed in a museum. If someone had not taken the pea away, maybe we could have seen the pea in the museum.File name: 246600345.doc; Total pages: 1Printed at 09:13:38 on 2014-12-27。

(The Princess and the Pea)英文版

There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess.
"Well, we'll soon find out," thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bedroom, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses.
It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! What a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.

小学英语 英语故事(儿童故事)A Princess and the Green Pea

A Princess and the Green PeaA long time ago, there was a prince of a country. If someone had not taken the pea away, maybe we could have seen the pea in the museum.。
