Instead of taking her to my church, I took her to her old neighborhood church where all her friends were. We got there early and I got her a seat where her friends could see her as they came in. Then soon some of her friends came to the church and they rushed over to greet her and sit with her.

In a computer age, a broadband internet connection is very popular now. Whether cable or mobile broadband, today's connections are many times faster than those in the early days. Videos play smoothly, complex websites load quickly, and files download much faster than ten years ago. And the files are much bigger too.
There's a hidden problem:you have to live near enough to a major city to get broadband internet. If you don't, it's slow dial-up access for you. And for those living really far out, there may be no internet access at all.
Technology experts often talk about the "last mile" problem , which refers to the difficulty of bringing Internet access to remote locations. in cities and suburbs, it's relatively easy to provide access for everyone. it is much more difficult to deliver access to those living far from cities, especially in developing countries. internet service providers ,for their part, have been reluctant to provide access to sparse(稀疏地)populated areas. The handful of internet users they would reach wouldn't cover the expense.
But every year, technological advancements allow of more and more internet users. Most broadband connections today run over existing cable TV and telephone lines although these technologies aren't available everywhere.
Some companies have delivered the internet over standard power lines. Advancements in cheaper more efficient fiber optics cables(光纤电缆)promise to bring extremely fast internet connections to more users. Still, the "last mile "problem remains hard to deal with. There will always be somewhere that doesn't have an affordable broadband connection. But someday that might not matter. if the rapid progress in cell phone technology is any indication, it may not be too long before
A. internet connections have been popular everywhere.
B. internet service providers are willing to care about rural customers.
C. The problem of Internet access hasn't been completely dealt with
30.Paragraph 4 mainly tells us that technological advancements_____.
A. make TV and telephone available everywhere
B. bring great change to people's everyday life
C. bring faster internet connections to users
D. make it possible for more people to use the internet
31.What may eventually settle the “last mile”problem
A. The broadband connection's getting faster.
B. The rapid progress in cell phone technology.
C. More and more internet connections.
D. More and more Internet users
32.The best title for this passage may be_____.
A. internet Connection Problems
B. internet Connections Need improving
C. Progress in internet Connections
D. internet Connections Today

A good deal of fascinating research has been done about the reading patterns of young people, and it is surprising to discover at what an early age children start expressing preferences for particular kind of books. A recent report, which examined in detail the reading habits of primary-school children ,showed that even seven-year-old boys and girls have clear views about what they want to read. Girls, in general, read more, and far more girls than boys preferred reading stories. Boys were showing a taste for the more instant appeal of picture stories, or else books about their hobbies.
These tastes continue unchanged until the children are teenagers. Apparently girls read more in general, but more fiction in particular .You Could say that there are more opportunities for girls to read fiction :magazines encourage the fiction habit in girls in their early teens, and by their late teens they have probably moved on to the adult women's magazines. Teenage boys tend to buy magazines
Adult reading tastes are also the subject of research. Again the number of women who read for pleasure is considerably higher than the number of men. it seems that the majority of women still want love stories. There has also been some analysis of what men actually read. Apparently only 38 percent of men read anything, but 50 percent of what they read is fiction in the form of action-packed(内容丰富有趣的)stories of space or gunmen
A. Children begin to read very fast at an early age
B. Children examine in detail what they read at school
C. Children can read clearly in primary school.
34. If we have a close look at the reading habits of boys and girls we'll find that
A .girls are more interested in fiction than boys
C .boys read much more than girls
D. boys have no interest in fiction
35 It can be inferred from the passage that____
A. boys change their reading tastes more often than girls
B. people usually do not change their reading tastes when they grow up
C. boys and girls form their reading habits by reading magazines
D. people have no definite(确切的)reading tastes
