Gulliver’s Tra一vel is a fairy tale written by Jonathan Swift. It’s a very interesting story full of imagination. Besides, the description is vivid and appealing, when I read it I feel like I’m tra 一veling with the hero in the story.Jonathan Swift was born in Ireland, but his parents are English. He has written many books such as A Tale of A Tub and The Battle of Books, respectively criticizes and attacks the corruption of religion and prejudice of scholar authority. His Drapier’s letters reveals the attempt of England to destroy the economy of Ireland. For this reason, English government awarded 300pounds for catching Swift. However, nobody in Ireland betrayed him. Swift died in 1745, and he said in his testament that he would give all his property to the charity.Gulliver’s Tra一vels tells a story of Captain Gulliver’s unique experience. Gulliver has a strong desire of tra一veling around the world since he grew up. However, when he became a captain, he tra一vels not between different countries but between strange places we never imagine. The first time, his boat encountered a storm and he swan to the shore. When he woke up he found himself surrounded by small men later he realized he had come to the country “Liliput”, which was a country of small men. In the country, the people treated him very friendly, they ga一ve him food and drink and wine. He? lived happily and he was nice to them as well. Later, the king asked him to help fight the other country Blefuscu for a very amusing reason: people there break their eggs at the big end while people in Liliput break eggs on the small end. Gulliver helped the king win the battle and soon after that he went home. The second time, he set sail and met a fierce storm again. This time he found a land which was a country named Broadingnag. It was a country of giants. You can guess his whereabouts. The huge people treated him as a pet. They put him on show, give speech and do sword drill, till he was tired out. Later he was sent to the Queen, the Queen liked him very much and had him dine with her everyday. But life was not easy for him. Nevertheless, something interesting happened. When he wanted to read, he had to climb up on the book and walk from left to right to read a line. Imagine that scene I couldn’t help laughi ng. Another story is playing the piano. He had to strike the keys hard with his first.People comment the book as a satire to England even to the whole Europe. In detail, that is, the first experience use the amusing reason of war to criticize the parties and religion of England, the second experience satirizes the boast and conceit of the whole Europeans. Nevertheless, in my opinion, I only see the vivid portrayal and the interesting imagination. Maybe it’s because it’s the first time I read the story an d know not so much about the background and situation of the author and his society, but the story really impresses me. Ilike the exotic experience of Gulliver, and I like Swifer’s imagination. A masterpiece which can influence generation after generation surely has its reason, maybe for the profound understanding of history, maybe for the description of people’s life. This novel may ha一ve something to do with sarcasm, but to me, at least by now, is a pure fantasy and a wonderful fairy tale.On this holiday, I read a book called Gullivers travels. The author of the book is the best satirical expert and politician in Britain in the early eighteenth Century - Jonathan Swift. The first place in Gullivers adventures was the villain. There he was able to drag the entire naval fleet with one hand, a large number of chickens, ducks, cattle and sheep, and lots of barrels of wine at a meal. In order to send the giant to the capital, he used five hundred craftsmen, countless ropes, nine hundred big men, fifteen thousand big royal horses, and so on. In a small country so that all competition and war inevitably seem small petty. With the height of heel partisan divide, "high-heeled party" and "low with Party infighting, neighboring countries not only irreconcilable opposed to; want to conquer and enslave each other, but also should eat egg debate where head knock like trifles" principles "problem.Giant in the country, he has become giants of the doll, was playing in the palm of your hand, and fight against flies and birds; later, he came to the mysterious flying island, people here use the flying island of the lower part of the natural magnet and the seabed under the force of a magnet, want to move, this is also a at any time, engage in some special summoned the ghost of dialogue rather baffling the study of the strange country.I admire the hero to honor to Hui from country to country, Hui from country to country is the pursuit of the ideal situation and yearning, here you dont need to worry about other people say is true, but in reality, there are so many things we dont want to see someone with blandishments cheat other peoples hard-earned money, people and children profiteering and some people even sacrifice their all for money. No wonder our parents and teachers have taught us to be vigilant and not to be deceived. This is very difficult to unite with others, who help others and love others. When I meet someone who is in trouble, I want to lend a helping hand. I hesitate. When someone comes to help me out, I cant accept it. All this makes me feel miserable, contradictory and at a loss what to do. Isnt it sad that it prevents me from "loving" other people and also "missing" other peoples love?I am looking forward to the day when our society is like the kingdom of Hui, the childrens eyes no longer have doubts, and education and reality are united. I would like to work hard for this, and I hope all of you will join me in doing it yourself, and from now on, let this society be more sincere and less hypocritical. One of the most interesting questions about Gullivers Travels is whether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of Swifts satire. In other words, in Book IV, is Swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way that the Houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact Swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.First we have to see that Swift does not even take Gullver seriously. For instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. Also, when he firstsees the Yahoos and they throw excrement on him, he responds by doing the same in return until they run away. He says, "I must needs discover some more rational being," even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. This is why Swift refers to Erasmus Darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the Beagle-to show how Gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. But if Lemule Gulliver is satirized, so are the Houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati. They walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. As Gulliver says, "It was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a Vienese waltz. To my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the Lord Edmund Burke" . As this quote demonstrates, Gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the Houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. For instance, the leader of the Houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of Charles Dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the Kings and Queens of England up to George II. Swift subtly shows that this Houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of Queen Elizabeths husband.Swifts satire of the Houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. One of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that Guenivre has brought with him to the island. First she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: "As I watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than Mr. Pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away." It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. But it makes more sense if we see that Swift is being satiric here: it is the female Houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century England. The Houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress Gullivers horse. Gulliver imagines the horse saying, Sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held Mr. Pope on her back makes me queezy .A final indication that the Houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the Houynhms visits Lilliput, where he visits the French Royal Society. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee)。

英文名著读后感1I believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. This is definitely a book everyone can relate to.The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the Mississippi River called St. Petersburg. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyers life.It is a story filled with action, adventure,, ingeniousideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood. The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally,it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even young children already know),the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again,if just for a few hundred pages.英文名著读后感2Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classicbooks. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and issomehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book. The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century. In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married. In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lotof parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.英文名著读后感3After reading “A tale of two cities”.”A tale of two cities” is one of Dickenss most important representative works. The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes. The novel also describedmany magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed peoples great strength. The novel has portrayed many different people. It is a first-hand account of lu xuns life history, and we may see the complete image of lu xun in the early years. “The battle cry” is the collection of lu xuns short stories from 1918 to 1922. He was full of ambition in his youth, and hoped that China would get rid of the old system and stale traditional ideas. But the frustration he suffered gradually made him feel desperate and lonely. The true story of ah Q shows us the true face of a deformedChina and a group of deformed Chinese before and after the 1911 revolution. It is the epitomies of the people under the feudal rule. 英语小说读后感(3篇)

英语小说读后感(3篇)英文小说读后感篇一I have got a lot of interesting scientific knowledge from the books of National Geographic Reading Expeditions, some of which are about life, physics. I really can’t help losing myself in the colorful pictures and clear words in the books. After reading the books, I have been considering a question: What if we lived without science? Great changes have taken place in the world with the help of science. In the past, life was nasty, brutish and short. It is hard to imagine how our forefathers could do without so many conveniences that modern science brings about. Back then, only a small group of people enjoyed the very few forts. But the majority of people didn’t even have sufficient food, let along their privilege to be educated. Anyway, it is science that changes the world and makes people’s life better and better, although it also leads to some bad aspects at the same time. From the discovery of the gravity to the first step on the moon, we human beings have experienced a long process of developing science. And now, this process is still continuing much faster. New organisms are already being engineered, and new genetically modified crops promise benefits from higher yields and less use of harmful chemicals and so on. A lot of examples are showing this point. In the future, changes are likely to be even much greater as science reaches out to shape life itself. Maybe one day, the possibility that life existed on Mars billions of years ago will be potentially one of the greatest discoveries of our time. It is the force of the petition, we human beings’ inquiring mind and initiative that bring about thenon-stopped development of science. Therefore, it is difficult andimpossible to prevent science from changing the world and our life as well.At present, we are in two minds about science. On the one hand, we are enjoying the sweet life as a result of the evelopment of science, and expect it to continue. And we are showing our interests into some scientific expeditions, such as the astronomy, the alien civilization, etc. On the other hand, we are distrustful of it, due to the lack of understanding of science. Some people thus far arestill very superstitious, and they would even believe insuperstitions rather than believe in science.Stephen Hawking, one of the most remarkable scientists in the world, once said, “In a democratic society, the public needs to have a basic understanding of the science, so that it can make informed decisions and not leave them in the hands of experts.” This has reminded me of Professor Alan G. MacDiarmid from America, the person who got the Nobel Prize for chemistry in the year of 某某. In his lecture at Peking University this year, he put forward that scienceis people. He also expounded the importance of the basic science for the public. Evidently, every one of us does need science, or wecan’t live without it.Now that everyone needs science, why not take advantage of some means to give the public the right basic scientific knowledge? So when they face the problems such as acid rain, the greenhouse effect, nuclear weapons, environment destruction and some other problems, they can also make informed decisions on these subjects, just as what Hawking said. One aspect relies on what is taught in schools. But science is often taught in an uninteresting way and most studentsjust learn it by rote to pass examinations. However, the final goalof learning science is not to pass examinations or to get a higher score; instead, we should try to make full use of it to change our world and life. While learning, we should try to ask more questions and we should have the courage of suspecting the knowledge in the books, as some of the scientific conclusions are likely to be corrected in the future. Who knows. So not only must we change our attitude towards science, but also the way of teaching and learning science. In addition, science is always changing at a fast rate, and who we learn at school isn’t that sufficient to last a lifetime. So the mass media including TV, radio, newspaper, magazine and publishing pany will play an important role in reporting the latest science in time. Moreover, the mass media can also popularize basic science to the public, because only in this way will more people realize what on earth science is.“Scientists and engineers tend to express their ideas in the form of equations because they need to know the precise values of quantities. But for the rest of us, a qualitative grasp of scientific concepts is sufficient, and this can be conveyed by words and diagrams, without the use of equations”, said Stephen Hawking.I agree with him very much, and, I’m fond of the wonderful words above, from Stephen Hawking. For the development of science, are you ready?英文小说读后感篇二Scarlett , a very personality figures ,the two mans she love ,neither does she know her, I was pelled to admire, admire her strong and brave, admire her to lay down in the environment, farm workers previously suffered education, admire her to disregard the munity tocreate their own expression of the cause 。

Jane love 1000 wordsJane Eyre is a novel with rotation color. It illustrates such a theme: human value = dignity + love.Jane Eyre's author, Charlotte Bront, and author of Wuthering Heights, Emily, are sisters. Although two people living in the same community, family environment, personality is not the same, Charlotte. Bront has become more gentle, more pure, more love the pursuit of some good things, although her family was poor, young lost love, father rarely, coupled with her short stature, appearance is not beautiful but, perhaps such a soul deep inferiority complex, reflected in her character is a very sensitive self-esteem, self-esteem in her heart to the inferiority of the compensation. She describes jane. Love is a beautiful, short woman, but she has a very strong sense of self-respect. She was steadfast in her pursuit of a bright, holy, and beautiful life.Jane. Love living in an orphaned, happy environment, grew up under treatment with peers, aunt abandon, cousin of contempt, insults and beatings cousin...... this is the dignity of the ruthless trample, but perhaps it is because of all this, Jane. Love unlimited confidence and firm and inflexible spirit, which can overcome the inherent personality. In front of Rochester, she never because he is a low status of the family teachers feel inferior, but that they are equal. Should not be because she is a servant, but not respected by others. It is because of her integrity, noble, pure, spiritual not secular society of pollution, making Rochester the shocked, and she can be seen as a spirit of equality and in their conversation, and slowly fell in love with her. In his heart, she moved, she accepted him. And when they get married that day, Jane. Love to know Rochester has a wife, she felt she must leave, she said, "I want to follow God's law issued by the world recognized, I want to hold on to me awake and not like this madness is now accepted the principle", I will firmly hold this position". This is Jane Eyre tells Rochester she must leave the grounds, but from the heart, a deeper thing was Jane realized that he had been deceived, her pride was teasing, because she loves Rochester, which woman can withstand the most trusted by oneself, closest to deceive people Jane? Love bear to live, but also to make a very rational decision. In this surrounded by a very powerful force of love, in abeautiful, prosperous life under the temptation, she still must adhere to their own personal dignity, this is Jane Eyre most has the spirit of place.Novel design of a very bright at the end - although Rochester's manor destroyed, he himself became a disability, but we see that it is such a condition, so that Jane is no contradiction between love and dignity, and at the same time be met when she married in Rochester and there is dignity at the same time, there is love. The novel tells us that the best human life is human dignity and love, and the ending of the novel is such a kind of life for the heroine. Although I think such an outcome is too perfect, even such a superficial marks itself, but I still respect the ideal -- the author of this wonderful life is the dignity and love, after all, in today's society, the people's value = dignity + love this formula to pay to achieve often cannot do without the help of money. People seem crazy to drown love for money and status. Between the poor and the rich, choose between rich and poor, choose between love and not love. Few people, like Jane, abandon everything for love and for personality, and proceed without hesitation. "Jane Eyre" show to us is a simplified, is a kind of recover the original simplicity is a dedicated pursuit, a feeling, no gain or loss is a simplified feelings, it is like a cup of water, purify every reader's heart, also cause readers, especially female readers.。

《简爱》读后感英文版3篇

《简爱》读后感英文版3篇1. A Tale of Resilience and Self-Discovery: My Reflections on Jane EyreI recently finished reading Charlotte Bronte's masterpiece, Jane Eyre, and was simply blown away by the depth and complexity of the novel. At its core, Jane Eyre is a story of resilience and self-discovery, as the titular character overcomes immense challenges and learns to trust her own instincts in the face of societal pressure and restrictive gender roles.Despite the many obstacles that Jane faces, she remains determined and strong-willed throughout the novel. Her fierce independence, coupled with her sense of morality and empathy, makes her a truly unique and inspiring protagonist. I found myself rooting for her at every turn, even when it seemed like the odds were overwhelmingly stacked against her.Of course, Jane's journey is far from easy, and she faces many trials and tribulations on the road to self-discovery. Her abusive childhood, her struggles with romantic entanglements, and her ongoing battle for independence all serve to make her journey all the more compelling. What I appreciated most about Jane, however, is that she never loses sight of her own worth and value as a person, even when others try to tear her down.Overall, I would highly recommend Jane Eyre to anyone who is looking for a powerful and thought-provoking read. It is a true masterpiece of English literature, and one that will stay with me for a long time to come.2. The Power of Self-Awareness: Lessons from "Jane Eyre"Charlotte Bronte's classic novel, "Jane Eyre," is a remarkable work of literature that is still widely read today. The protagonist, Jane Eyre, is an inspiring character who, despite the many obstacles she faces, manages to find her own path in life.At its core, "Jane Eyre" is a story of self-awareness, as Jane struggles to understand her place in the world and the forces that shape her destiny. Through her experiences with love, loss, and personal growth, she comes to realize that she is not defined by the circumstances of her birth, but rather by her own strength of character and perseverance. One of the most powerful lessons that readers can take away from "Jane Eyre" is the importance of self-awareness. By understanding our own strengths, weaknesses, and motivations, we can better navigate the challenges of life and move towards greater fulfillment and happiness. Through Jane's example, we are reminded that we are capable of great things, even in the face of adversity.Overall, "Jane Eyre" is a timeless masterpiece that continues to resonate with readers today. Its themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and self-awareness are universal, making it a must-read for anyone seeking inspiration and insight into the human experience.3. Love, Loss, and Self-Discovery: My Journey with "Jane Eyre""Jane Eyre" is a novel that has long fascinated me, and I recently decided to revisit this classic work. As I read through the novel once again, I was struck by the depth of emotion and insight that Charlotte Bronte brings to her storytelling. At its heart, "Jane Eyre" is a tale of love, loss, and self-discovery. The relationship between Jane and Mr. Rochester is complex and nuanced, with both characters struggling to reconcile their feelings for one another with the social norms and expectations of the time. It is a love story that is both tragic and hopeful, reminding us of the power of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit. But beyond the romance, "Jane Eyre" is also a tale of personal growth and self-discovery. Through her experiences with loss, betrayal, and hardship, Jane learns to trust in her own instincts and find her own sense of purpose in life. Her journey is a powerful reminder of our own capacity for self-reflection and self-improvement, even in the face of great adversity.Overall, "Jane Eyre" is a timeless masterpiece that speaks to the human condition in profound ways. Its themes of love, loss, and self-discovery are as relevant today as they were when the novel was first published, making it a must-read for anyone seeking greater understanding of the human experience.4. Gender Roles and Social Expectations in "Jane Eyre"One of the major themes in "Jane Eyre" is the restrictive gender roles and social expectations of the time. Jane's struggle to find her place in a society that values conformity and submission is acentral theme in the novel.Throughout the novel, Jane is constantly reminded of her place as a woman, and the limitations that society places on her because of her gender. From the very beginning, she is taught to be meek and obedient, and to never question authority. However, as Jane grows older and begins to assert herself, she realizes that the expectations placed upon women are unjust and hypocritical.Through Jane's journey, we see the importance of challenging these societal norms and expectations. Despite the many obstacles she faces, she never loses sight of her own value and worth as a person. She refuses to conform to the expectations of others, instead choosing to forge her own path in life. One of the most powerful moments in the novel is when Jane asserts her independence and leaves Mr. Rochester, despite the great love she has for him. This act of bravery and self-respect is a reminder that we are not defined by our relationships or the expectations of others, but rather by our own sense of self and purpose.Overall, "Jane Eyre" is a powerful commentary on gender roles and societal expectations, and a reminder that we must fight against injustice and inequality in all its forms.5. The Importance of Empathy and Compassion in "Jane Eyre" Another important theme in "Jane Eyre" is the importance of empathy and compassion. Throughout the novel, Janedemonstrates a deep sense of empathy for those around her, even when they do not show her the same kindness in return. This sense of empathy is particularly evident in Jane's relationship with Bertha Mason, Mr. Rochester's first wife. Bertha is a troubled and mentally ill woman who is kept hidden away from society, and is often the subject of ridicule and scorn. Despite this, Jane shows great compassion towards Bertha, recognizing the tragedy of her situation and the injustice of the way she is treated.Through Jane's example, we see the power of empathy and compassion, and the transformative impact it can have on those around us. By showing kindness and understanding, we can break down barriers and cultivate deeper connections with those around us.In addition to Bertha, Jane's empathy is also evident in her relationships with other characters in the novel, such as Helen Burns and St. John Rivers. Through these interactions, we see the importance of seeing beyond surface-level differences and recognizing the humanity in all people.Overall, "Jane Eyre" is a powerful testament to the importance of empathy and compassion in our lives. It reminds us that by showing kindness to others, we can create a ripple effect of positive change and make the world a better place.。
