②Smoking is not allowed here. 此处禁止吸烟。

3)allow用于被动语态时，只能接动词不定式做宾语补足语，不能接动名词形式。

即sb/sthbe allowed to do sth .例：We were allowed to smoke in this room only. 我们只许在这间屋子里抽烟。

3）allow还常与 out, in, up等副词搭配使用，即 allow sb.in/out/up等。

例：①She won't allow the children in until they've wiped their shoes.直到孩子们把鞋擦干净，她才让他们进来。

②She is n ot allowed out after dark. 天黑后，不准她出去。

③The patient was allowed up after ten days. 十天后病人才被允许起床(下地)。
