Unit 5 The power of nature1.教材分析本单元以The power of nature 为话题，旨在通过单元教学使学生了解火山爆发、地震、台风、洪水等自然现象，认识到自然的伟大力量，并会用所学词汇描述在经历自然灾害时的感受，思考人类应对自然灾害的态度和方法，提高自我保护意识。
1.1 Warming Up通过对火山爆发示意图的讨论激活学生了解与本单元话题相关的背景知识，而后通过讨论人类应对自然灾害的措施引发学生对本单元话题的思考，激发学生的求知欲，为随后进行的听、说、读、写打下基础。
1.2 Pre-reading通过回答问题测试自己是否适合作火山学家，让学生了解这一陌生职业，为阅读做好准备。
1.3 Reading部分一位火山学家以第一人称的形式讲述了自己的工作及第一次目睹火山爆发时的情景和心情，描写了人与自然的斗争与和谐相处的乐趣，使学生认识到火山是美丽的，但同时极具破坏力，而火山学家的工作可以减少由火山引发的损失。
1.4 Comprehending设计了两种题型：第一题要求学生在阅读后回答相关问题；第二题检测学生对文章细节的理解。
1.5 Learning about Language 分为词汇和语法两部分。
词汇部分着重从词的意义用法和表达方面对学生学习词汇给予指导；语法部分学习ing 形式在句子中作状语表示时间、原因及结果。

号称“火山之国”的萨尔瓦多也在这条火山带上，世界上最高的活火山-智利的尤耶亚科火山，海拔6723米；最高的死火山-智利的阿空加瓜火山，海拔6964米，也都在这个带上。
大西洋火山带中最引人注目的海底火山爆发和随之而来的火山岛的形成。
在那里，有时候你会看到海底火山喷发的奇特景象，数天的时间里，原来一片汪洋处就能冒出一座岛屿。
由于新形成的火山岛物质还比较疏松，抵抗不住海浪的冲击，所以经常会像变魔术一般又突然消失了。
地中海火山带以火山活动频繁而著称，举世闻名的维苏威火山就在这条火山带上。
这条带上的很多火山至今仍然活动着，如位于西西里岛上的埃特纳火山，从公元前6千多年一直到今天从未停止过喷发。
非洲大陆因受到两侧的拉扯力而形成断层，叫作东非大裂谷，这里也是火山活动十分活跃的地方。
大裂谷两侧，耸立着一座座火山，死火山至今仍有水汽喷出，温泉涌流，活火山更是热气腾腾，烟雾缭绕。
两个世界闻名的火山奇观就在这里：一是第二大破火山口-恩戈罗恩戈罗火山口，一是尼拉贡戈火山的熔岩湖。
非洲第一高峰-乞力马扎罗山，第二高峰-肯尼亚山，这两座死火山的山顶终年覆盖着白雪，十分美丽。
中国的火山，约660座，其中绝大部分是死火山。
活火山和休眠火山主要分布在台湾省、昆仑山区、黑龙江省、长白山和云南腾冲等地。
黑龙江和吉林共有230多座，其中著名的有五大连池和白头山。
内蒙古是我国火山数量最多的地区，共有270多座，我国最大的，包含有100多座火山的火山群，就分布在这里，其中达里火山群有多达56座火山。
台湾省正好位于环太平洋火山带中，是我国火山活动最为剧烈的地方。
澎湖列岛、火烧岛、钓鱼岛等都是海底火山喷发而成的火山岛。
