An auteur make his film an art form through its visual style. Usually the signature of an auteur could be seen most clearly through his distinctive personal style, his distinctive themes or narrative structure.
Auteur Theory
Definition: The auteur was a person who was able
to stamp his own identity on a film in spite of the commercial restraints of the studio system. An auteur was contrasted to the metteur en scène (匠 人),who treated film directing as a job rather than an art form.

Overview
• The Nanny Diaries is a 2007 comedydrama film, based on the novel The Nanny Diaries, by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. Written and directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, it stars Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Keys, Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney; and was produced by Richard N. Gladstein.
Plot
• 21-year-old Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) is a recent graduate of Montclair State University when she becomes a nanny to the X family: Mrs. Alexandra X (Laura Linney),Mr. Stan X (Paul Giamatti),Grayer Addison X (Nicholas Art), on the Upper East Side of New York City who turn out to be the family from hell. Life becomes complicated when she falls for a neighbour whom she nicknames Harvard Hottie (Chris Evans). Throughout the movie Annie is shown to be an introvert, but in the end she gathers the courage to blast the couple for their misdemeanor through a hidden spy camera in Teddy bear. This brings about a change in Alexandra and she later thanks her for bringing the nice change in her life.
Scarlett Johansson
• Scarlett I. Johansson (born November 22, 1984) is an American actress and singer. Johansson made her film debut in the 1994 film North and was subsequently nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female for her performance in 1996's Manny & Lo.
