Dead Poets Society
When Neil got the news that there was an open tryout for the Midsummer Night Dream, he rushed joyfully to dormitory and was desperate to shear it with Todd, every words showing his dream of being an actor and his resolution to take this opportunity. “I’m g oanna be an actor. Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to try this” “For the first time, in my whole life, I know what I want to do and, for the first time, I’m goanna do it whether my father wants me to or not.” Neil was immersed in a great sense of excitement and enjoyment, completely regardless of his father’s order, expectation and dignity. “Carp Diem”---seize the day, He was taking action and attempting to make it works. What Mr. Keating had done and said emitted effects upon Neil, which gave him encouragement and impelled him to pursue his dream buried deeply in his heart since he was born. However, what Todd said dampened the enthusiasm---he must ge t his father’s permission, or nothing is possible. Then Neil was pushed into a dilemma: to pursue his dream or continue to obey father’ order? Thanks to Mr. Keating, it is impossible for him to surrender, so did his father. How can he do? Perhaps this difficult decision to some extents omens the tragedy. He didn’t know how to choose, and then he chose the easiest but the cruelest way to relieve himself.I appreciate Mr. Keating. Not everyone can encounter such respected teacher in his study career. He has his personal independence of conduct, full of passion and enthusiasm about teaching. When Neil asked him how can he stand live and work in this rough and small room, for he can go anywhere and do anything, he just said,” I love teaching” He devoted all his time and energy to teaching and students, but waiting for him is being expelled from school. To his relief, he got students’ understanding and supports, Todd Anderson being the first one standing on the desk to show his farewell statement to him. By looking at scenes from the movie, we all know that upon entering Welton Academy, he must live up to the reputation of his elder brother and he spent much of his time studying rather than socializing. He was shy and timid. He was daunted to read his original poem in front of class. But thanks to Mr. Keating, he helps Todd to improvise a poem following his heart, and he succeeded. Apart from Todd, Neil showed his talent for performance; Knox finally dared to pursue his favorite girls; Charlie was fully liberalized himself. He taught the boys so many lessons that they would have never learned from any other teachers. “Carpe Diem”was his first important lesson. He reminded students to seize the day and cherish every day dearly. He required students to call him “captain o’my captain”. He distinguished himself and his students as captain and sailors. He hoped he could guide his sailors to be independent and succeed in the life’s battle. He failed in the battle of tradition and reformation. He was beat by Welton’s four principles---tradition, discplin, but he succeeded in the acceptation and supports of students. He just likes a shaft of sunlight---weak but full of power---felling into the lifeless and spiritless community, warming human’s heart. He is actual the spiritual guider. He taught the boys so many lessons that they would have never learned from any other teacher. By looking at scenes from the movie, and lines from the works of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman, we can see just how important the lessons were that Keating was trying to teach the boys. Mr. Keating reminded them to seize each day and cherish them dearly. Todd Anderson, Neil Perry, and Mr. Keating are three of the most important characters in the film “Dead Poets Society.” T odd Anderson is the character that we see undergo the most change during the course of the movie. Upon entering Welton Academy, he already must live up to the reputation of his older brother, who was the valedictorian of his class. During Todd’s stay at Welton, he spent much of his time studying rather than socializing, and often passing up a good time because of his shyness. Along with the rest of his peers, Todd became a member of the Dead Poets Society, a secret organization that appreciated poetry. Through the Dead Poets Society, Todd became a more friendly and social person. Later in the year, an assignment was given by Mr. Keating for each student to compose their own poem. T odd spent much of his time trying to create a poem, but when the time came in class to read it, he backed down andNeil would let their talent show performance, Knox finally daring to pursue their favorite girls, Charlie was fully liberalized self, timid Todd also look through the Keating back to courage.。

研究生影视赏析课《死亡诗社》详细答案
死亡诗社1. What’s the running theme of the film?I think the running theme of the film maybe the liberation of nature, the pursuit of freedom.Teacher Keating instilled free to the students, Led them to break the traditional education, His students under his education began to struggle for their dreams, begin to seek out their own inner yearning. The film teaches us to listen to inner voice. When we see traditional conservative ideas of the school and all students without blood drive, we hope that anyone can change that. The teacher keating came. Meticulously to see students to take notes, we would like to see some different, so keating said it was a waste of materials, so tear up a few pages. Saw a child respond to the teacher on the table, we hope to have inspire other boys, they were also stood up, coruscate gives we want them to glow of free breath.I think that the presence of the dead poets society give children who don't understand the poetry opened a door of freedom, though it only open in the darkness of night. I have always believed that poetry is a scalpel, resect the tumor of the thought, refinement on the hearts of those who have been silent, too.2. Do you like Keating’s educational ideas and his special ways of teaching and why?I like k eating’s deucationl ideas and his ways of teaching.because Hiseducation can give students a positive impact. From him, we can see the shadow of the artist. They have never been famous, but hiding in the corner of the city, to do their own dreams. He teaches the students not only knowledge but also the truth of human. He let the children understand the freedom of the life, give them the courage to pursue their dreams. His teaching is not popular with the traditional education idea, but the liberation of the student's thought.Under mr.keating’s guidance ,the boys begin to swin against the stream and pursue their dreams.todd Anderson becomes brave and learns to lead his own path.charlie Daltuon is punihed for “the call from god”.charlie is reminded that he should choose a cautious and wise way to suck all the marrow out of life.the most unlucky one is neil perry .he is too concerned with his ideal to make necessary compromise with reality.he put himself into an impasse and he kills himself in order to make his body free. This romantic teacher education his students with passion and dream, his experience is a tragedy, he chose a different path, butI think he is successful teacher, he gives a soul to the students.3. Do you think we can imitate Keating’s wa y of teaching? What difficulties are we facing if we do?This education may be difficult to replicate, because it’s the product of a particular period. When the Appropriate people attend at the right time, this form of education will happen. we can not think beyond society . On the background of a traditional educational, many things can not been controlled by people. If we do like mr.keating,Our leaders may not agree with us, we will lose our jobs. Protests from parents, life pressure and so on, will become our difficulties. Teachers without proper teaching materials, not every teacher can write their own books. The students in reality can not be like in the movie. The current exam system is not suitable for the keating's teaching method. In a word, in the concrete implementation, will encounter many difficulties. We can't live out of education, movies and life is not the same. We can accept the idea of Mr Keating, his ideas on education combined with the actual situation, create the education method is appropriate for my situation. The teacher should be in the transmission of knowledge, encourage students to develop their unique spirit at the same time. Every student is different, we need to give students the opportunity to develop their own talents.4. Why is the tradition so powerful and how can we break it out? Because in theschool, people with traditional idea holds the rights, they stick to the traditional education concept, there is no new sounds. When there is a new teacher put forward different opinions, then they beat him, and destruction of the development of new things. The formation of traditional also experienced a long time, after a long time of accumulation, traditionalbecome truth, cannot be changed. People always like to get accustomed to things, when used things began to change, they may feel panic, especially powerful men, they are afraid of losing power, will be to maintain the traditional.Break the traditional is very difficult. I think the first thing should be determined the truth. Only use the truth to convince people, let people understand the correctness of the new things, can make people change the traditional way, accept new ideas. Next,we need have a firm confidence. The truth prove that takes time, we may have to undergo countless failures to succeed. Tradition is also under the accumulation of time, gradually formed. Finally, to adopt the method of science. It is difficult to let people accept new things at a draught, so it's very important to the choice of methods, can adopt the method of osmosis, gradually to get people to accept.5. What do you think of Neil’s death? Is it avoidable? This is an extreme way, death is to escape, is a cowardly act. Neil's death has no value, changes nothing of his death, his pursuit of freedom is actually lost. His behavior not only took their own lives, and hurt the people around him. His parents lost their son, a teacher lost the opportunity to continue to education students. We felt sorry for his death, but it's not worth , this is wrong, will only make things worse. In fact, he can take some positive practice, through the communication to obtain the blessing of their parents, he can prove himself to his parents for his efforts to choose the right, he canask the teacher for help, all in all, positive think solution is much better than suicide.I think commit suicide can be avoided. If Neil can change their own character. If he is a cheerful person, if he can to the life full of hope, then he will not choose to commit suicide, but take a positive approach. In addition, if the parents can understand him, Neil in daily life show more love for him, give him confidence, to give him encouragement, so things can be resolved.6. How do comment on Neil’s parents? Are they so familiar to us? How do you deal with such parents?Neil's parents don't know how to express their love. They use the incorrect way to education child, lets the child repressed, finally choose death. In fact, the parents feel good choice, children are not like too, respect the child's interest is the best choice. my parents seldom asked me to do things I really had no interest or gave up my interest though they sometimes made decisions I didn’t like in the past of my life .So when I saw Neil’s father ,a stubborn man ,never allow Neil to act in the play which Neil likes most, I got shocked.I think with such parents need to be patient communication. Neil's parents don't know my children, they did not listen to child's voice, always make a choice for him. If I were Neil, I would rational express their views, to seek the aid of all and to persuade parents with me, I want to show results prove that I choose the right. On the other hand, I also want to understandtheir parents, understand their painstaking, understand that they are in order to I have a better future. I'll find the balance between my parents' hope and my own hobby.7. What do you think of the major members of the Dead Poets Society, particularly Cameron, the fink? The members of the dead poets society is a group of students willing to accept new things. They are students dare to seek freedom, they have their own dreams, they want to challenge the old education system. Although they failed, but their action is positive, they changed their, brave to challenge the whole school. I admire the members of the courage, each and every one of them is a hero. When they read poetry, they are the truly happy, their life is valuable. Although the conditions don't allow them to sing, but, the truth will prevail, dead poets society would not die, lives in people's hearts forever.I think Cameron is a disappointing boy.He said the teacher encouraged neil should seek for his dream,mr.keating should be blamed.but it is not the truth. The teacher wanted the young to be happier and live a rich life. I feel sorry for them .They are full of passion for their life but they lead a poor life .They have no right to choose their future .They parents do that for them .Y ou grow to be a banker ,and you grow to be a doctor .They have a lot of money but they are feeling sorry for themselves .The young have done nothing wrong but they have to be a man what their parents ask them to be.They all should be sympathized.8. Make comments on the realistic situation of our education and point out the similarities and differences. Our education is a kind of exam-oriented education. Learning is in order to can get high marks in the exam, we cultivate not to use the knowledge ability, but the ability to cope with exams. That’s why Chinese student studies very well, but the ability to work is very poor. We never care about the students' interest is what, the future want to engaged in what industry, we only care about students' scores. Students have no clear goals in life, very few have their own play space, most of the time is to do exercises. Teachers and parents are concerned about the students' grades, don't allow students playing games, our study life is boring.Education is a major part of American culture. Schools do more than just fill students' heads with knowledge. They pass on culture, traditions and values.American children start their education in elementary school. Most youngsters enter first grade at around six years of age. Children can prepare for this step by attending preschool and kindergarten from ages three to five. Y oung learners finish elementary school in fifth or sixth grade. From there, students go on to junior high school until eighth or ninth grade. Americans complete their required education in high school. They graduate and receive a diploma after twelfth grade. The students can not only learn theory knowledge, and, more importantly, to master the practical skills.。

死亡诗社1. What’s the running theme of the film? The theme of died poets society reflect humans resistance of traditional education which lack of humanization and the pursuit of the freedom of thought , This film also tell us to” seize the day and cherish our lives” . From the love that student to Keating ,we can easily see that Keating bring students happiness ,at the same time our students really need the freedom of thought and the right of pursuitting happiness . Students in this film were asked to long for love, seize the moment and being-towards-death. Maybe the background of society or families restricts person’s development, but we must realize the value of our lifes and show our talents at a apparent time ,of course ,it does not mean the cost of our lives.2. Do you like Keating’s educational ideas and his special ways of teaching and why?If you ask me,do you like Keating. I will answer quickly without any hesitate yeah,of course ,I like both Keating. but his way of teaching is lake of reality .To tell the truth, Keating’s mind is not teacher’s mind but poet’s mind. So presumingly, I admit that Keating bring so much happiness and laughter to these student ,but he just brings children into his field without teaching students how to adapt themselves to terrible changes. When student like Neil finds out that there is dissimilarity between imagination and the reality, they become confused, they cant do a right choice, even suicide. To sum up, Keating is a good friend to adult, and a dangerous teacher to young people.3. Do you think we can imitate Keating’s way of teaching? What difficulties are we facing if we do?We can pick out some points to apply. For example, Keating asked his students to tear the book because “The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”(From the bible). And once, Keating let students jump on the teacher’s desk and see the world in a different view. What can we learn from that? Our Chinese students are not consistent with our own perspectives. Maybe we can encourage students to talk about dreams, frustrations, and ideas for change. We should love our books, but we can try to question well-known opinions, and argue with Ancient Oracles. Building up this capacity of creation is simply not an overnight process. in fact, there are several difficulties to learn this educational way. For example, if we teach in Keating’s way , the class will be no order ,and some student can work seriously, but others may not listing, even trouble.4. Why is the o powerful and how can we break it out?Tradition is powerful because it is accumulation of knowledge and experience for quite a long time. Tradition is thousands of years culture essence of precipitation .moat of us all admit it .At least it was correct in the past. Before we break it out we should recognize the differences in the past and present and find out what can be improved. Whenever we challenge tradition, we can’t reverse it completely. We should do something new at the base of these tradion ,only did these ,can everything be better.5. What do you think of Neil’s death? Is it avoidable? For neil , when conflict between reality and dream occurred ,he choosed to finish his life to resist his parent and school. Neil’s death made warning for the school and other parents ,from this point ,it was worthy . but this did not simply solve the problem , so neil’s death was not valuable , neil’s death made his parent sosad ,although made Keating self-condemned . neil’s bitter experience caused by the intense inner confusion and conflict, which is the war between freedom and secular power. The conflict is unavoidable but the death is avoidable. Mr. Keating give the philosophy of death to Neil prematurely so that Neil chose a extreme method to annotate the essence of life.6. How do comment on Neil’s parents? Are they so familiar to us? How do you deal with such parents?Parents, without question, always love their chi ldren. Neil’s parents, especially the father loves Neil, too. He knows the importance of a decent job, and he knows the impulse of young will be over soonner or later. He did think that his boy’s spirit was too strong to control and he didn’t listen to his boy’s heart. I have known many parents just like the father. What we can do is to forgive and beer. Maybe you will say “how could you think about that? Did you really watch the film carefully?” I did. And I know we always forgive or beer our parents in the past several years. Sometimes their judgment is better than ours. At least they give us a easy way to servive.7. What do you think of the major members of the Dead Poets Society, particularly Cameron, the fink? From what I know , we cant easily judge if the members of t did a right or a wrong thing . I believe that every member of the Dead Poets Society have a deep thought before they make a decision to do what they just think right .There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. In Cameron’s eyes, Mr. Keating is responsible for Neil’s death. We know Cameron didn’t want to join the dead poets society at the beginning time . maybe Cameron was right .In his eyes, Neil’s dream is a source of happiness pursued only by mad men. Finally ,he became the fink ,and some people dislike him . But if he did not do like that,Maybe there will be more and more people get hurt because of this matter.8. Make comments on the realistic situation of our education and point out the similarities and differences. There are some Similarities of education both in china and foreign country . for example , both these two classes serve a class as a unit, The teacher stands on the platform to have a talk , and the students sit down the chair to listen carefully. And both students in china and foreign country learn the same subjects , such as math , chemistry , biology , physical and so on . of course ,there are some differences of education between china and foreign country . For instance , foreign country encourage students to speak more in class discussion ,practice more by themselves and think independently . instead of ,in china ,most student in class keep silent and make notes about what teacher said. And if there is a noise in class ,the teacher would like be angry , because this noise can interrupt the teacher’s teaching.。

T Mr. Keating asks the students to call him “Captain”.(…Now in this class you can either call me Mr. Keating. Or, if you're slightly more daring, Oh Captain, My Captain.‟)2. T “Carpe Diem”, a Latin term which means “seize the day”, is the themeof this scene.(Keating: The Latin term for that sentiment is Carpe Diem. Now who knows what that means?Meeks: Carpe Diem. That's "seize the day".)3. F The schoolmates in the past are very different from the boys now.(Keating: They're not that different from you, are they? ... just like you…just like you feel…just like many of you…just like you.)Task 2·Gather ye rosebud while ye may .·Carpe diem.·Seize the day .Scene TwoTask 11) Why does Mr. Keating stand upon the desk?“I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way.”2) Why does he suggest the boys must strive to find their own voice?“Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all.”Task 2I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way…Even though it may seem silly or wrong, you must try!... What is “a barbaric yawp”?…A yawp is a loud cry or yell‟; “a barbaric yawp” literally means a loud cry made by a barbarian a nd here it is a way that Mr. Keating uses to encourage T odd to …yell likea man‟.3. What is T odd‟s poem mainly about? What does the person he is describing looklike? In this improvisational poem, T odd describes what Walt Whitman looks like and what he is doing and mumbling about truth. In T odd‟s imagination, Walt Whitman looks like …a crazy/sweaty-toothed madman‟who is …staring‟at him powerfully, …choking‟ him and …mumbling‟ about truth.4. What do you think of T odd‟s poem?(Open question) Personally, I think T odd‟s poem is very creative. It vividly demonstrates the image of Walt Whitman and powerfully conveys what truth is like by using an extraordinary metaphor. Through the process of constructing this poem, T odd gradually frees up his mind and shows a great potential to be a poet.5. Has T odd gone through any changes in this part?Y es, he changes from a shy boy that feels embarrassed and scared to speak publicly to a creative poet who improvises a poem and delivers it aloud in front of the class. [Cf. T6. If so, what has made his change happen?Mr. Keating‟s constant encouragement and urge play a very important role inpromoting T odd‟s change. [Cf. TTask 2ou have something inside of you that isThe effective ways/technique Mr. Keating uses to encourage and inspire T odd may include:⏹Questions & Answers [This is also the key to finish the dictation exercises.] Keating: raise guiding questions (e.g. what, what you see); follow T odd‟s answers and probe into them (e.g. what kind of madman? Why is Neil so excited? What has he “found”?Because he is going to realize his dream and be an actor in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He has found what he really wants to do for the first time in his life, that is, to be an actor (…what I wanna do right now. What's really, really inside me‟, …For the first time in my whole life I know what I wanna do‟, …for the first time I'm gonna do it whether my father wants me to or not!‟).2. What is T odd‟s reaction? Does he support Neil‟s tryout? After Neil explains what the play means to him, T odd reminds him that he should ask for his father‟s opinion otherwise it is impossible for him to take part in the play.3. In the end, what makes Neil‟s excitement gone?Neil‟s excitement is gone after T odd reminds him of his father, because he realizes that he still has to face the cruel fact that he cannot go round his father about this matter and, more importantly, his dream of being an actor is just a fantasy since he knows his father will nev er allow him to do so.Scene Two1. What is the problem Neil is facing? How does he feel?Neil is facing the conflict between his own dream of being an actor and his parents‟expectation of him being a doctor. He feels …trapped‟ and cannot find a solution. 2. Why doesn‟t he tell his father what he just tells Mr. Keating?Because he doesn‟t think he can talk to his father this way. Moreover, he believes it is useless to do so since he already knows the answer- his father counts a lot on him and considers acting as …a whim‟, thus he will never allow him to do this.3. What advice does Mr. Keating give Neil? In your opinion, how will Neil deal with this problem?-Mr. Keating insists Neil talk to his father about his dream of being an actor and prove it to him by his conviction and passion rather than being …an indentured servant‟.-In terms of how Neil will deal with this problem, according to this scene, we can see that until the end of his talk with Mr. Keating, he still doesn‟t screw up enough courage to talk to his father about his dream since he still ask Mr. Keating …Isn't there an easier way?‟.After watching the whole movie, we know that Neil then lies to Keating that he has talked to his father what he has told Mr. Keating and his father lets him stay in the play. But, in fact, he had not talked to his father; he decides to go around his father to participate in the play. Neil‟s performance is a marvelous success. However, his father appears at the end of the play and takes Neil home ruthlessly. Scene Three shows the conversation between Neil and his father after getting home.Scene Three1. What is Neil‟s parents‟“decision” about Neil‟s study and career? They will withdraw him from Welton and enroll him in Braden Military School tomorrow. He is going to Harvard and be a doctor.2. Why does Neil‟s father make this decision? From his manners, do you think thereis any room for negotiation?-Because his father counts on Neil a lot and expects him to treasure the opportunities he has never even dreamt of and lead a prosperous life rather than waste it in the worthless acting business.-It is an open question whether there is any room for negotiation between Neil and his father.Personally, I think although his father is very stubborn and forceful, he does so out of love and he asks Neil: …T ell me what you feel. What is it?‟. So if Neil can seize this opportunity to express convincingly what he really wants to be and that he is mature enough to make decisions by himself, there might be a chance that his father would begin to reconsider or even change his viewpoints, or at least, this would open a window for communication between them. [Cf. Answer to Let’s Talk Q1.]3. Does Neil want to tell his father what he feels? What eventually does he do and why?Y es, from his saying …I've got to tell you what I feel‟, we can see that Neil wants to tell his father what he feels. But eventually when his father asks …T ell me what you feel. ...What?‟, he just answers …nothing‟ and is still unable to tell his father what he really wants to be. The reason why he fails to do so may involve two factors: one is that his father‟s talk makes him feel a strong obligation to live up to his parents‟ expectation and he cannot disappoint them since they make a great sacrifice to cultivate him; the other is that his father seems so nonnegotiable to him and still doesn‟t screw up enough courage to talk to his father. [Cf. Answer to Let’s Talk Q1.]。
film review on Dead Poets society
A film review on Dead Poets SocietyThe film Dead Poets society,an old film, deserves us to watch and have a deep thought. It tells a story of a teacher,Mr.Keating and his students who want to flee from the feudal thoughts.Mr.Keating,in the story, always encourages his students to change their eyesight to definite the world, having classes outside or jumping up the desks to see the world in a different way.Setting up their own Dead Poets Society, not only poems that they written but also daily life or some amazing periods were discussed.A youth, called Neil, desired to be an actor whereas his parents had planned his life to as a doctor, after succeeding in entering the Harvard University. At last,Neil was committed suicide in order to insist on himself and Mr.Keating was considered as the murderer, failing in continue to teach. No response to love, youth or any other heated issues,it makes me deep in thought. Though we think that much freedom that the western teenagers have nowadays, actually they even didn’t get the permission to talk about or pursue their dreams in the feudal era. They were asked to obey their parents’ vision, even if they can join a play.As a matter of fact ,I felt furious as Neil’s death was pinned on Mr.Keating.It is hisflinty parents and the rigid tradition that led to his death rather than Mr.Keating’s unique teaching methods. How ridiculous it was!Besides,it shows some deeper meaning so that it reserved a large amount of appreciation.Though Mr.Keating was fired, his students jumped up on their desks at the last of the movie, which represent his opinion about open, passionate and free in literature has remembered in the children’s mind.Disobedience, independence and creation are highly recommended from the film,so as our modern education. So,it is undeniable that this film will have a long-lasting influence on human beings,no matter to the past or the future.Business English class 1 SharkeyA Report on Dead Poets SocietyLast morning I just took several hours to appreciate the movie“Dead Poets Society”.I had to admit that it was one of my favourite movies that I have even seen. I even wept when I saw the scene that Neil couldn’t refuse his father’s orders and killed himself, which depressed me a lot, because Neil was one of the characters who I liked.I could deeply feel the pains that Todd and Neil’s other friends suffered. When Todd came out of Welton Academy, running to the snowfield, roaring to make himself calm down,I just wept again with the sound of music, which suddenly rang sadly. As far as I am concerned,Neil was a courageous and intelligent person, because he could bravely followed his teacher,Mr.Keating ,whose teaching method was so new, innovative and visionary against the traditional and old principles taught in the school.Unfortunately,Neil still couldn’t escape from his father’s control.Although he loved acting, and actually he made it,he still couldn’t change his father’s idea, and thus he just had to make himself come to an end without talking to his father what he really wanted. As for me,Mr.Keating was on behalf of the new ideas such as democracy, romance and freedom of thought, while Welton Academy represented conventional, realistic and staid thoughts. It was a intense fight between the young and the old.Anyway,I loved Mr.Keating and every student(except Cameron, because he betrayed his partners eventually)in this movie, and I could find their hidden passions, which cheered me up a lot.I even thought that I resembled Todd in some ways,as I would be shy, introverted and lacked courage sometimes, thinking myself valueness and nobody would care what I said and think, fearing to express myself totally in front of many people, but Todd got more valiant at last when he stood on his desk and called Mr.Keating “Captain”to make Mr.Keating believe his expulsion is not which everybody wanted.I also loved the poems they have read such as“Gather ye rosebuds whileye may.Old time is still a—flying. And this same flower that smilestoday, tomorrow will be dying.”What’s more,I loved the sound of music, which impacted me a lot.At last,I just wanted to write down the sentence that Mr.Keating said: “But only in their dreams can men be truly free.”I was crazily fond of it,which made me know how essential the belief and enthusiasm was.Business Class one Daisy。
Dead Poets Society 英文影评
Dead Poets SocietyIn 1959, Walton preparatory college for its dignified style is respected by the people at that time. Where the education mode is fixed, not only boring but also hampered the thought. But all this changed at the hands of a new teacher. John Keating's against traditional education methods for college brought an angry: in his class, he encouraged students to stand on the desk, with a new perspective to observe the world around them; He is to introduce students to the many thoughtful poetry; He advocated the freedom of divergent type of thinking philosophy in the student has caused great response. Gradually, some people accepted him, and began to brave to face every day, grasp their own life. But there is a serious conflict between his education thought and traditional college. Story at the end, the students are on the table for the teacher, the scene is enough to touching tears. The movie powerfully demonstrated that different ways of education will lead to different results, cultivate different kinds of people. In the opening ceremony, students recited motto "tradition, honor, discipline, excellence", the students are afraid of into the school, called hell. Also made up another set for the school motto "mockery, terror, decadent, drainage", expressed strong dissatisfaction of the students. The way of education is so traditional and rigid, it eliminated the students' passion of learning, blocking the students to pursue self ideal of freedom. Students are forced to do what you don't want to do, and even hide the most authentic side of them.Neil is under the influence of Keating, the pursuit of life significance, find true self. Neil in their own way, not the arrangement of the parents, find the meaning of life and poetic find their own direction, from which to grow. But due to the strict parents, unable to communicate with, Neil was forced to suicide. Neil's death is a little weak, but he is inevitable in the growth of life cruel ritual.I think this is one of the college students must see movie, it tells us how to break down, how to search for the ideal, how to find interesting things in your life.。

《Dead poets society》is a film which is directed by Peter Weir .It won Oscar Academy Award for Best Writing. In some extent, it is a social drama. It reflects a very serious social problem. The director uses his own unique style and aesthetic concept to explain human nature. In the film, director Peter pays his attention to the adult and child’s contradiction deeply. The story happened in a boys’ prep school in 1959. With a group of young boys , a unique teache who has a good standing of life, and a stereotype strict school, the story began. At the beginning of the film, a lot of birds flushed from the ground. Later ,when the boys ran to the cave in the darkness, their figure of yearning freedom. These scenery shots suggest that the contradictions -- the teacher and student's confrontation and the traditional and innovative confrontation ,are emerging slowly under the peace surface. This is an unusual education movies, it reached peak that other general education film are difficult to reach. In the beginning of the film, the head master said the school’s four creed”Tradition! Honor! Discipline! Excellent!”. In the class ,the teachers are very strict. All these things foreshadow the existence of t he main character Jhon Keating who is a romantic man and doesn’t obey the traditional teaching method. In his first class,he let the students call him”oh!captain ,my captain !”. He taught the students that “poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”. He encouraged the boys to seize the day and make their life extraordinary. He let the students stand on the teaching desk and look at things in a different way. He called them to insist on his own footsteps and walk yourself's road. He used his own way to let studdents shout out their voice. All the things he did are the retort to the traditional education system .With the help of Keating , Todd gradually came out of inferiority, and wrote poetry. Neil found what he truly love and finally appeared in a play. Neil performed a demon in the play. However, the death of Neil makes the story come to the climax. Neil was a obedient child for so many years. He cann’t go on his life any more,so he chose to dead. His death was a blasting fuse in the film. The school education is utility and inflexible and the parents put the family hopes on their children. In the free country, education was also once so inflexible, conservative, utility. The problems in the education is worldwide. Should we pay attention to the education system? The answer is obvious. The American education also have very rigid and utilitarianism side, but American filmmakers can let you pay attention to these problems and encourage people to think deeply. The film is a reflection of the education system. It is a unique social drama which attracts the audience,。

Film Critics of “Dead Poets Society”What is life? In the movie" dead poets society", life is a poem, life is music, drama is most the brilliant chapter; life is ideal, life is free, a person should have full confidence and independence; it will guide you, encourage you, inspire you to death and living the courage to the pursuit of true and noble faith of youth.Dead Poets Society tells about the story of students at the Wilton Academy, which is a famous preparatory school in Vermont. The plot centers on how Mr. Keating, a young and exciting teacher, who is determined to teach his students to live life with absolute passion, tutors his students to challenge the institutions around them."Captain" led the students station to the table down around four, as he tells us, change an angle to have a look the world, you'll find out different things. Thus odd the brave learned to face, he was aware of the meaning of life. Knox ultimate pursuit to his most loved the girl, he learned that life is wonderful. Neal's dramatic dream in the snowy night successfully staged, his heart with passion and crazy beats, he was like a teacher said, do you really want to do. However , Mr . Keating’ existence is also a dagger. When the childen see light, they also smell death. Neal's rebellion, pale and weak force him to be driven into a corner. Radical teacher Keating was framed with Neal's death, the result is: leave.Children are collective station onto the table, watch their captain. Here, no regret, because children already realized he taught everything! The movie is one of the most wonderful films I have ever watched. To be honest,I were always thinking that there were few movies or stories that could indeed touch me from the bottom of my heart .We have been limited since we were born. There are a great many rules and judgement around us which we are asked to do everything in accordance with.We all have a great need for acceptance, which lead us to act like all the other people regardless of ideas of our own.But life is short. Each and every one of us is one day going to stop breathing, turn cold and die.We don’t have to perform.Just make it for ourselves.Just like what Mr.Keating tells the students,we don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute.We read and write poetry because we are members of humen race. And human race is filled with passion.Seize the day." Neal can be proud to say:" I lived, I was free to live!" Neal, you have led us to a revival of" dead poets society", in the night in the cave, we repeat the poem:" I went to the woods, because I wanted to live a meaningful life, I wanted to live deep, learn the essence of all life. Let's all give up all that was not life, and not when I return to the earth, but I found that I had not lived."Dead poets society" reminds us, everyone of us is the only thing in the world, is also the most out of the ordinary, the genius of the one and only. Do we want to do, take the bull by the horns, no pressure, no doubt, fear nothing, brave starts our pace. life is a contradictory process, think of it very easily, not easy to be yourself in a real hit. Growth should be full of joy and happiness, but the cruel reality always relentless break our dream wings. The school built high walls, no body warmth, tortured people's social environment, wave after wave will drive us to the abyss of suffering, to accompany our only dark day, there is no dawn sun, cold air, and the pressure on the body of the mountains. If there is no evil, you will know how painful experience the warmth and happiness? Anyhow, just as the famous sing goes " When I was alive, I will be the master of life, not be its slave."。

1. What difficultiesare we facing if we do?We can pick out some points to apply. What do y ou think of Neil’s death? Is it avoidable?Neil’s bitter experience caused by the intense inner confusion and conflict, which is the war between freedom and secular power. The conflict is unavoidable but the death is avoidable. Mr. Keating give the philosophy of death to Neil prematurely so that Neil chose a extreme method to annotate the essence of life.6. How do com ment on Neil’s parents? Are they so familiar to us? How do you deal with such parents?Parents, without question, always love their children. In Cameron’s eye s, Mr. Keating is responsible for Neil’s death. We know Cameron didn’t want to join the dead poetssociety at the beginning time . maybe Cameron was right .In his eyes, Neil’s dream is a source of happiness pursued only by mad men.
