Analyze “A Doll’s House”-----The truth often was hidden behind the appearance. The drama “A Doll’s House” was written by Henrik Ibsen, and it can be regarded as Ibsen’s masterpiece. In the three ACT, it has described the main protagonist Nora’s change process. In the early time, she cared for her husband Torvald, and she also trusted in her husband. But, in the later, their relationship was broken, and Nora ran away from her house. Finally, Nora got rid of her doll figure. The drama has three ACTs, the first ACT can be regarded as the introduction. The third ACT is the main plot in the drama, and it seems like the result. In the third ACT, people’s characteristic is exposed thorough. The second ACT can be regarded as a base function.I n the drama, Ibsen not only described Nora’s awakening. He written a few people, and these characters had their own personality, and these personality reflected the drama’s topic. With these person’s char acteristics, the author has revealed that some unknown truth were hidden behind the appearance. In the drama, behind the sweet happy relationship between Nora and Torvald, it hid some contradictions, and it led to a broken in the family. Next, I will analyze the characters and plot, and interpret why the truth often was hidden behind the appearance. In the beginning, Nora loved her husband, and she devoted herself to the family. She bought some gifts to other family members except her. When she was asked why she did not buy gifts to her, she said: “For me? Oh I don’t want anything.” (Ibsen 64).This showed that she loved the family. When her husband Torvald got a serious illness, in order to saving Torvald’s life, she saved money, and borrowed money from o ther people. She said: “So if Torvald gave me money for a new dress or something, I never spent more than half.” (Ibsen 422-424). This was an evidence that Nora loved her husband. However, she gradually realized that she liked a doll in the family, and she also realized her husband’s selfish and hypocrisy. Afterward, she resisted against the social fact, and ran away from house. In my opinion, although in the begging, it seemed that Torvalds loved his wife, this love only existed in the appearance because Nora’s action not affected with her husband’s right. Once his right was affected, after he read the letter, he changed attitude toward to his wife. Thus, this is reason why I state that in the drama, the truth often was hidden behind the appearance. Besides, this drama also reflected a social fact in that time: the relationship between women and men was not equal. After I interpreted the reason why the truth often was hidden behind the appearance in the drama. Next, I want to analyze the main person’s cha racteristic in the drama.NORAAt the beginning of the drama, the author described Nora: “She takes a bag of macaroons from her pocket, eat a couple, then crosses quietly to Torvald’s door and listens carefully.” From this sentence, I think that Nora is a lively, and even a little naughty woman. Afterwards, form the conversation between her and Mrs. Linde, Nora did not write a letter to Mrs. Linde many years, and she simply expressed regret. These plots indicated that she was a naïve, and self-centered woman because sherarely to consider other people’s feeling. However, in order to saving her husband, she borrowed money form Krogstad, and under Krogstad’s threat, she did not give up her action. After Nora found that her husband was a hypocritical person, she made a decision to leave Torvald. These plots showed that Nora love her husband, but she did not like a doll in the family.TORV ALDIn the drama, Torvald called Nora as “little lark”, and “little songbird”, and “little squirrel”. He also appreciated Nora’s dance. These plots indicated that Torvald loved his wife. However, after he read the little, and after the truth was revealed, he worried about it, and he afraid the comments from other people. In the drama 2100 to 2130, the plots showed that Torvald was selfish, hypocritical man. Only in order to his private right, he blamed and belittled his wife Nora. Obliviously, compared with Nora’s love, Torvald’s ugly point was described thorough. When he was in front his wife and his reputation, he chose the latter one. Therefore, I think that Torvald’s love is not true, and these plots also reflect my topic: The truth often was hidden behind the appearance. Torvald thought that Krogstad had a worse behavior, and he fired Krogstad. But I think that this may not be the real reason why Torvald fires Krogstad because Torvald is a selfish and hypocritical man.KROGSTADIt seemed that Krogstad was a bad behavior person in the drama. Dr. Rank described Krogstad: “There is a man in there with Helmer who’s a moral cripple.” (Ibsen 506-507). He used Nora’s forged signature, and the purpose was that he wantedto keep his position in the bank. Just as his action, it made that Nora was blamed by her husband, and it also made Nora left his husband. However, because Mrs. Linde abandoned him, and he also had two children. This made that his life was casted in a shadow. But after conversation with Mrs. Linde, he gave up his threat thinking. In fact, he may be not an evil man. Maybe he was affected by the social environment, and it seemed like a bad behavior man.In the end of the drama, the appearance that the family had a happy life was not existence. No doubt, Torvald’s characteristic of selfi sh and hypocrisy was exposed. In his heart, Nora liked a doll in the family, and it seemed that she was not importance. Therefore, the author showed a real relationship in the family to us.After reading the drama “A Doll’s House”, in my opinion, no matte r what is the appearance or no matter what the truth is hidden behind the appearance. When reading a fiction or drama, we should understand the real meaning and truth other than only stay in the surface. Just as the life, in front of the love, people should seek for the real love with practice, and we should not be inducted by wonderful words.。

I remember clearly the first time I read The Doll's House by Katherine Mansfield. Its vivid portrayal of the social hierarchy and childhood innocence left a deep impression on me.

The story follows the Burnell family, particularly the three Burnell sisters, as they receive a doll's house as a gift. The intricately detailed doll's house becomes a symbol of wealth and privilege, highlighting the stark contrast between the Burnell girls and their less fortunate peers.

Through the eyes of the Burnell children, Mansfield exposes the cruelty of social class distinctions and the impact they have on individual lives. The rejection faced by the Kelvey sisters, who come from a poor, lower-class background, is a poignant reminder of the injustices present in society.

The Doll's House" is a beautiful and touching story written by Katherine Mansfield. The story is a depiction of the social hierarchy, class systems and the unfair treatment meted out to people on the lower rungs of the societal ladder. The story is set in a small village in England and follows the lives of the Burnell sisters, Isabel and Kezia, and their brothers Lottie and the youngest, who are all waiting for the arrival of a doll's house made especially for them by their dear aunt Beryl. The doll's house is a beautiful masterpiece, and the sight of it was enough to make the Burnell children squeal with excitement. As they explore every inch of the house, they are given a glimpse into the lives of the two dolls inhabiting the house. The dolls are a representation of the upper class in their society, and the children are enamored by them. However, not all is well in the Burnell children's world. Kezia, the youngest of the sisters, is full of compassion and kindness, and it is through her eyes that we see the unfair treatment meted out to the Kelveys, two sisters who live in poverty in the village. The Kelveys are shunned and looked down upon by everyone else. Kezia's heart goes out to the Kelveys, and she invites them to come and have a look at the doll's house. The Burnell sisters' mother, who is deeply entrenched in her beliefs about social class and hierarchy, is horrified by Kezia's invitation. She forbids the Kelveys from entering their house, and in doing so, shows her daughters that the social hierarchy is rigid and one cannot break out of their societal class. The story ends on a poignant note, with Kezia's realization that the world is not fair, and that the Kelveys will always be looked down upon by the rest of the society. The Burnell children are not innocent bystanders in this scenario, and their actions only serve to perpetuate the social hierarchy."The Doll's House" is a beautifully written story that highlights the unfair treatment of people based on their social class. Katherine Mansfield's prose is captivating and poetic, and she delicately weaves together the story of the Burnell children with the plight of the Kelveys. The story is a poignant reminder that the world is not fair, and at times, unjust. It also reminds us of the importance of showing compassion and kindness, irrespective of the societal class of others. The Doll's House is a story that resonates with readers across generations and is a testament to Mansfield's talent as a writer.。

In his works, the European bourgeois image than in Shakespeare, moliere's rot appear more and more ugly, also hated more, it is very natural. His sharp pen full of enthusiasm, incitement skewers the bourgeoisie in morality, law, religion, education, and family relationships the mask of many sided, exposed the hypocrisy of the capitalist society and absurd. "A doll's house" is for marriage under the capitalist private ownership, of the bourgeois ideas of male a tacitly indictment. "A doll's house" is henrikIbsen's 1879 drama, and then the emerging of the disadvantage of capitalism, social conflicts intensified, the people in front of the money to selfishness, hypocrisy, ugly face. In order to rob money, regardless of friendship, affection, love, in their eyes, money is everything. These bourgeois ugly behavior on haier mau got plete interpretation, Nora from him just toys, a beautiful appearance, can amuse his toys. When that Nora's behavior would threaten their own interests, he immediately changed his face, said Nora is a hypocrite....... Is Nora do inorder to save him, all because of love him, but he didn't ungrateful, not grateful to calculate, also said Noradidn't qualification education child......, it's like in Nora heart put a knife, he was such a hypocrite, oneself when he doll so long but I do not know, for him, Nora is just a doll, she is nothing else, haier mau ignores Nora pay everything for this family, take care of the children, and so on. Maybe it should be said with the center of the patriarchal society at that time, women labor is that they have to do in the home, only pain no gain. Not qualified to talk about the remuneration and rewards. Haier mau is unlikely to care about her these pay, also were not considered in his consciousness, men work outside, wife have a duty to labor in the home, take care of the children don't even have a reason to ask what, have no reason to say no to his arrangement.Nora is a a bourgeois individuality to emancipate the mind of the rebellious women. Her betrayal of society and leave home, has been hailed as a "declaration of independence of the women's liberation. Nora is ostensibly a young women without sophisticated cutting has always been being called "birds", "little squirrel", actually she kind and strong personality, to her husband and family at humiliation, ready to sacrifice even his own reputation. Due to save her husband's life, used to hide from him toborrow a debt; At the same time want to give dying father save trouble, and impersonate signed a word. Is due to the reasonable behavior, the bourgeoisie's "not reasonable law" forced her desperate. More to her heart, the truth, most in need of her husband and her together, take risk moment, she found himself as the sacrifice of the husband turns out to be a false and despicable philistinism. She finally awakening, to realize their father before marriage is but a doll, but is the dolls of her husband after marriage, has never been an independent personality. So she hasdecisively abandoned her husband and children and family run away from the cage.I admire the courage of Nora, women should have the right to choose their own happiness, rather than rely on others. Women want to get their position in the family, should have an independent source of ine. Women should have independent thought, free-standing self-improvement, self-esteem, self-love. To better foothold in the society.

The Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen is a thought-provoking and poignant play that delves into the complexities of societal norms, gender roles, and the struggles of individual autonomy. As I immersed myself in this captivating work, I was struck by the profound insights it offered into the human condition and the challenges faced by those who dare to defy the rigid expectations of their time.At the heart of the play lies Nora Helmer, a woman whose outward appearance of a dutiful and submissive wife conceals a deep-seated desire for self-discovery and liberation. Ibsen masterfully crafts a narrative that gradually peels away the layers of Nora's seemingly perfect life, revealing the stark realities of a patriarchal society that confines and constrains her.One of the most striking aspects of the play is the way it challenges the traditional gender roles and power dynamics within the household. Nora's husband, Torvald, is portrayed as the quintessential patriarch, a man who firmly believes in the naturalorder of things and the superiority of the male over the female. His condescending attitude towards Nora, his attempts to control her actions, and his inability to see her as an individual with her own aspirations and needs, serve as a powerful critique of the oppressive social structures that governed the lives of women during that era.In contrast, Nora's journey of self-discovery and her eventual rebellion against the constraints placed upon her are nothing short of inspiring. Her decision to forge her own path, to prioritize her personal growth and autonomy over the societal expectations thrust upon her, is a testament to the human spirit's resilience and the power of individual agency. One of the most poignant moments in the play is when Nora, in a climactic scene, confronts Torvald with the truth about her past actions. Her revelation that she had forged her father's signature to secure a loan, in order to save Torvald's life, shatters the illusion of their perfect marriage and forces Torvald to confront the reality of his own prejudices and the ways in which he has failed to truly see and appreciate his wife. The play's exploration of the theme of individual identity and the right to self-determination is particularly compelling. Nora's journey from a seemingly docile and obedient wife to a woman who boldly asserts her independence and refuses to be defined by theexpectations of others is a powerful testament to the human capacity for transformation and growth. Moreover, The Doll's House resonates with contemporary audiences, as it touches upon issues that continue to be relevant today. The play's examination of the challenges faced by women in a patriarchal society, the struggle for gender equality, and the importance of personal autonomy and self-actualization, all find echoes in the ongoing discussions and struggles for social justice and equality. As I reflect on my reading of The Doll's House, I am struck by the timelessness of its themes and the profound impact it has had on the literary and theatrical canon. Ibsen's masterful storytelling and his ability to craft complex and multifaceted characters have left an indelible mark on the world of literature. In conclusion, The Doll's House is a truly remarkable work of art that continues to captivate and challenge audiences across generations. It is a testament to the power of literature to illuminate the human experience, to question the status quo, and to inspire us to strive for a more just and equitable world. As I close the book, I am left with a deep sense of admiration for Ibsen's artistry and a renewed appreciation for the transformative power of literature.。

After watching the movie "Doll's House", I was deeply moved by the story and the characters. The film tells the story of Nora, a seemingly happy wife and mother who is living a life of deception and confinement. Throughout the movie, we see Nora's transformation from a naive and submissive woman to a strong and independent individual. One of the things that struck me the most about the movie was the theme of societal expectations and the pressure to conform. Nora is initially portrayed as the perfect wife and mother, always obedient and willing to please her husband. However, as the story unfolds, we see that Nora has been living a lie and has been sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of others. This theme resonated with me because it reminded me of the importance of staying true to oneself and not letting societal expectations dictate our lives.Another aspect of the movie that I found intriguing was the complex relationship between Nora and her husband Torvald. At first, Torvald appears to be a loving and caring husband, but as the story progresses, we see his true colors. He treats Nora as a possession, constantly belittling her and expecting her to fulfill his every whim. This dynamic between the two characters highlights the power imbalances that exist in many relationships and the importance of equality and mutual respect. The movie also explores the theme of self-discovery and empowerment. As Nora begins to realize the truth about her marriage and her own identity, she makes the bold decision to leave her husband and children in search of her own happiness. This act of defiance and self-assertion is both inspiring and thought-provoking. It made me reflect on the importance of self-care and pursuing one's own dreams and desires, even if it means going against societal norms.Overall, "Doll's House" is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged film that delves into important themessuch as societal expectations, gender roles, and self-discovery. The compelling performances and powerful storytelling make it a must-watch for anyone interested in exploring these complex issues.

The story revolves around a group ofdolls living in a dollhouse, each with their own unique personalities and experiences. Through their interactions, the film explores themes of friendship, love, and the importance of embracing one's true self. One of the things that struck me about the film is how relatable the characters are. Despite being dolls, they have their own hopes, dreams, and struggles, just like real people. For example, there is a doll named Lucy who is always trying to please others and be the perfect doll. However, throughout the film, she learns that it is more important to be true to herself and follow her own dreams.Another aspect of the film that I enjoyed is the humor. There are many funny moments throughout the movie that hadme laughing out loud. One of my favorite scenes is when the dolls decide to put on a talent show and each doll performs a unique act. It was entertaining to see their different talents and how they all came together to create a memorable show. The film also has a beautiful message about the powerof friendship. The dolls in the playhouse support and care for each other, even when they face challenges. This reminded me of the importance of having a strong support system in our own lives.Overall, "Playhouse" is a delightful film that combines heartwarming moments, humor, and important life lessons. The play revolves around Nora Helmer, a seemingly perfect housewife who grapples with her own hidden desires and the stifling constraints of her marriage.Ibsen's masterful storytelling exposes the hypocrisyand double standards of Victorian society. Nora's husband, Torvald, treats her as a child and expects her to conformto the submissive role of an ideal wife. However, beneath her facade of domesticity, Nora possesses a simmering discontent and a longing for self-fulfillment.Through a series of events, Nora's secret past is revealed, and she is forced to confront the consequences of her actions. The Doll's House is a fantastic play that I had the pleasure of watching recently. It is a thought-provoking and deeply insightful play that explores themes of gender roles, societal expectations, and the pursuit of personal freedom. One aspect of the play that I found particularly compelling was the way in which it challenges traditional gender roles. The main character, Nora, starts off as a seemingly submissive and obedient wife, but as the play progresses, she begins to question her role and assert her independence. This is a powerful message that resonates with many people, as it encourages us to question societal norms and expectations.Another element of the play that stood out to me was the symbolism of the doll's house itself. The doll's houserepresents the facade of a perfect life, with its beautiful exterior and meticulously arranged furniture. However, as the play unfolds, we come to realize that the doll's houseis nothing more than an illusion. It is a metaphor for the superficiality of societal expectations and the pressure to conform to a certain image. The dialogue in the play is also incredibly well-written and engaging. The characters speak in a natural and authentic way, using idioms and colloquialisms that make them relatable and human. For example, when Nora confronts her husband about her desire for personal freedom, she says, "I've been living like a doll in a doll's house, playingthe role of the perfect wife. But I'm tired of pretending.I want to be my own person." This line perfectly captures the frustration and longing that Nora feels, and it is aline that many people can relate to.Overall, The Doll's House is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged play that addresses important social issues. In the Doll's House, there are several characters that leave a lasting impression on me. Firstly, there is Nora Helmer, the main protagonist of the play. Nora is a complex character who starts off as a naive and submissive wife, but gradually discovers her own strength and independence. She is willing to go to great lengths to protect her husband and family, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. Nora's transformation throughout the play is truly remarkable.Another character that stands out to me is Torvald Helmer, Nora's husband. Torvald is portrayed as a typical patriarchal figure, who values societal norms and appearances above all else. He treats Nora like a child, constantly patronizing and controlling her. However, as the play unfolds, we see a vulnerable side to Torvald, as his true character is revealed. He is willing to put hisreputation and pride above the love and well-being of his own wife.Mrs. Linde is another interesting character in the play. She is portrayed as a practical and independent woman, who has had to make sacrifices in order to survive. Mrs.Linde's presence in the play adds depth and perspective to the story, as she serves as a contrast to Nora. While Norais trapped in a doll's house, Mrs. Linde has already experienced the harsh realities of life and has learned to be self-reliant.Lastly, I cannot forget to mention Krogstad, the antagonist of the play. Krogstad is a morally ambiguous character, who initially appears as a villain, blackmailing Nora in order to keep his job at the bank. However, as the play progresses, we learn about his troubled past and the reasons behind his actions. Krogstad serves as a reminder that people are not always as they seem, and that everyone has their own motivations and struggles.

Playhouse" is a heartwarming and thought-provokingfilm that left a deep impression on me. The story revolves around a family and their struggles, as seen through the eyes of their daughter. The film beautifully captures the complexities of family dynamics and the impact of societal pressures. One aspect of the film that struck me was the portrayal of the parents' relationship. They are constantly at odds with each other, with their arguments and disagreements becoming a source of tension in the household. This reminded me of the phrase "the elephant in the room," which refers to an obvious problem that no one wants to address. In the film, the parents' issues are the "elephant in the room," affecting not only their own happiness but also that of their daughter.Another powerful theme in the film is the pressure to conform to societal expectations. The daughter, like many children, feels the need to meet her parents' expectations and excel academically. This is a common phenomenon in many cultures, where children are pushed to succeed in order to secure a better future. The film highlights the toll this pressure takes on the daughter's mental health, as she struggles to find her own identity and pursue her own dreams. One scene that particularly resonated with me was when the daughter finally opens up to her parents about her true passion for art. This scene reminded me of the phrase "coming out of the closet," which is often used to describe someone revealing their true self or identity. In the film, the daughter "comes out of the closet" as an artist, expressing her desire to pursue her passion despite the potential disappointment of her parents. This scene beautifully captures the importance of self-expression and staying true to oneself.Overall, "Playhouse" is a poignant and relatable filmthat explores the complexities of family relationships and the pressure to conform. It serves as a reminder toprioritize open communication, acceptance, andindividuality within our own families and society as a whole.

The Doll's House is an intriguing and thought-provoking story by Henrik Ibsen. It tells the story of Nora, a woman who is trying to find her freedom from her conventional life and her oppressive husband, Torvald. Nora’s quest to find her independence is profoundly explored in this play, making it a timeless classic that speaks to modern issues of gender roles, societal expectations and marriage.I was deeply moved by the play and I found it to be very powerful in its message. Nora has been brought up to believe that she is inferior to her husband, yet she still has dreams of one day becoming independent and having a successful career. This courageous desire for self-autonomy is admirable, and I think it speaks to how a woman in Nora’s time might have been struggling against the role that society has forced upon them.Another important theme of the play is the importance of being true to oneself. Nora goes against her husband’s wishes for her to stay at home and instead chooses to pursue her dream of being a doctor. I think this is important to note because it shows that even in the face of great adversity, people are driven by courage and determination to do what they believe is right. The play is a timeless classic and speaks to some of the most relevant topics of today. It addresses issues of gender roles and societal expectations, as well as the struggle to be true to oneself. I found the play to be moving and inspiring, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to gain insight into the human spirit and the power of determination.。
