Many young people queue up to ride very fast and scary roller coasters(过山车),screaming but enjoying themselves, Other people like to read "goose bumps(鸡皮疙瘩)” books or watch horror movies at night, scared to death but feeling excited. Why do people like being scared?Fear is an ancient way of surviving. Being scared makes animals, including humans escape from danger and save themselves. It is because of fear that we have lived through millions of years of evolution. Those who lacked a strong fear response were more likely to be killed, leaving the more fearful and careful to pass their genes onto the next generation. How do scientists explain why shaking over such scary things is fun? "Some kids will go to a scary movie and love it and laugh over it, others will feel anxious and hide their faces and some won't even set foot in the cinema," said Ned Kalin, a US scientist. "Which kind of person you are depends partly on experiences you've had and partly on your genes."What happens in the brain when something frightens you? Nerves that begin at the eyes and ears lead to a part of the brain called the amygdala, When you suddenly see a snake, for example, the amygdala makes you freeze, sweat, have a quickened heartbeat, or run very fast. However, seeing the snake also uses another part of the brain, the cortex. It analyzes the situation, and if it finds that the snake is only made of rubber it tells your heart and the rest of your body to calm down. Think of the amygdala as the engine and the cortex as the brake.Back to the first question: Why do some people like to make themselves scared? "One reason is that we can play games with fear, find ways to reduce the scariness by looking away or thinking of something else," Kalin said. "To believe we have control over a situation gives us a feeling of power. " "Scary movies or novels are good practice to prepare young people for the real thing, Thrills such as roller coaster rides also go to the brain's pleasure centre. "And there might be some evolutionary advantage to being able to adjust this system that is there to protect people.43.How many questions are answered in the passage?A.2 B.3C.4 D.544.Some people like to be scared because _________.A.they are afraid that the fear genes will be passed onto their childrenB.it's a good practice to get prepared for the real frightening situationC.it can help them show their own personalitiesD.they will feel powerful after getting rid of fear45.Which of the following is true about the people who are not easily scared?A.Their cortex is better at analyzing the situations.B.They are more likely to suffer from potential danger.C.They are born unaffected by anything horrible.D.They lack a strong response towards threat.46.What is the best title of the passage?A.Ready to scream? B.How to be scared?C.Willing to shake? D.Why to be scared? The Diet Zone: A Dangerous PlaceDiet Coke, diet Pepsi, diet pills, no-fat diet, vegetable diet. . . We are surrounded by the word "diet" everywhere we look and listen. We have so easily been attracted by the promise and potential of diet products that we have stopped thinking about what diet products are doing to us. We are paying for products that harm us psychologically and physically.Diet products significantly weaken us psychologically. On one level, we are not allowing our brain to admit that our weight problems lie not in actually losing the weight, but in controlling the consumption of fatty, high-calorie, unhealthy foods. Diet products allow us to jump over the thinking stage and go straight for the scale(秤)instead. All we have to do is to swallow or recognize the word "diet" in food labels. On another level, diet products have greater psychological effects. Every time we have a zero-calorie drink, we are telling ourselves without our awareness that we don't have to work to get results. Diet products make people believe that gain comes without pain, and that life can be without resistance and struggle. The danger of diet products lies not only in the psychological effects they have on us, but also in the physical harm that they cause. Diet foods can indirectly harm our bodies becauseconsuming them instead of healthy foods means we are preventing our bodies from having basic nutrients(营养成分). Diet foods and diet pills contain zero calorie only because the diet industry has created chemicals to produce these wonder products. Diet products may not be nutritional, and the chemical that go into diet products are potentially dangerous. Now that we are aware of the effects that diet products have on us, it is time to seriously think about buying them. Losing weight lies in the power of minds, not in the power of chemicals. Once we realize this, we will be much better able to resist diet products, and therefore prevent the psychological harm that comes from using them.47.From Paragraph 1, we learn that _________.A.diet products fail to bring out people's potentialB.people have difficulty in choosing diet productsC.diet products are misleading peopleD.people are fed up with diet products48.One psychological effect of diet products is that people tend to _________.A.try out a variety of diet foodsB.hesitate before they enjoy diet foodsC.pay attention to their own eating habitsD.watch their weight rather than their diet49.In Paragraph 3, "gain comes without pain" probably means _________.A.losing weight is effortlessB.it costs a lot to lose weightC.diet products bring no painD.diet products are free from calories50.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?C: central point P: point Sp: sub-point(次要点)C: conclusion A.B.C.D.四、七选五Most of us don't like to think too much about rubbish.51.. However, household waste is a major contributor to our planet's waste problem. Like it or not, it needs to be managed if we are to have a brighter green future. When it comes to being responsible for our own rubbish, the best way to approach it is by following the three golden rules of waste management, or the'3 Rs'-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle."The order is important.52.," says Eugene Tay, Director of Green Future Solutions in Singapore. "Recycling still affects the environment and should be done last after reduce and reuse."But, when our efforts to reduce and reuse still result in an overflowing rubbish bin, the advantages of recycling cannot be ignored. "53.," says Amy Ho, Managing Director of World Wide Fund For Nature in Singapore. "The damage to our environment could then be slowed down as a result. "In fact, by recycling just one plastic bottle, you are saving not just the material to make a new one, but you also stop it from getting thrown into a landfill(垃圾掩埋场)for up to 700 years-and that's before it even starts to rot. 54..Recycling is so important that we really have no excuse not to do the simplest of household tasks that will make a difference."55.," says Ho. "Starting with recycling grey water for gardening purposes, to recycling materials such as glass, paper and iron-it all reduces the use of raw materials."A.We put it in the bin and don't think too far beyond thatB.The collective action of individuals can make a significant effectC.It's important for every household to make good use of grey waterD.Waste reduction and reuse is usually the best way to decrease wasteE.The three rules of waste management should be followed by every householdF.Recycling reduces the use of raw materials and so protects our natural resourcesG.Recycling just 10% plastic bottles would keep 90 million kilograms of plastic out of landfills五、选用适当得单词或短语补全句子选词填空56.Music shops should arrange their recordings in simple alphabetical order, rather than by _____________.57.Drivers will ____________ the law if they drive after drinking wine.58.I didn't do it __________ —it was an accident!59.She was in a __________ whether to stay at school or get a job.60.I've managed to __________ a five percent pay increase with my boss.61.Children need __________ amounts of nutritious foods to grow up strong and healthy. 62.She couldn't speak much English so her children had to __________ for her.63.If you don't use the correct grammar the meaning can be a bit __________ and lead to confusion.64.Many disabled people suffer from __________ at work.65.It is __________ for all motorcyclists to wear helmets(头盔).六、单词拼写根据首字母和英文释义填空66.There is a limit to what one person can t__________ (to accept something or someone that is annoying or unpleasant).67.They are s__________ (to try to find something) for a solution to this problem. 68.The milkman was responsible for d__________(to take something to a place) milk to the households in this neighborhood every day in the morning.69.She used to be a p__________(host of a TV or radio program) of a gardening program. 70.This book is highly r__________ (to say something is good or useful) by teachers. 71.He p__________ (to touch somebody or something gently several times with your hand) her gently on the shoulder and then walked away.72.He r__________ (to give something to somebody because of their efforts service or help)us with a lot of money for helping him when he was in difficulty.73.Recently, they have just u__________ (to make something modern, usually by adding new parts or it or giving new information) their software.74.I accidently s__________(to cause liquid to flow out of its bottle) my drink all over him. 75.I woke up just before d_______________ (the beginning time of a day when light first appears in the sky).七、根据所给汉语意思完成句子词组填空,每条横线代表一个词76.The airline company has paid the passengers to ___________ ___________ __________(弥补)the serious delay.77.It was time we ___________ _________ ________(开始做某事)some serious work. 78.Sue tried to smile, but her voice _________ ___________(出卖,使……暴露)her sadness.79.You need to ________ _________ ___________(设定可实现的目标),or you may always _____________(推迟)your work.80._________ ___________(无论)age, everyone is welcome to join the club, which________ __________ (由……组成)people from different countries.81.The broken window has _________ _________ _______(替换)a new one. 82.Last year,he finally achieved ________ ________ ______(突破了极限)and ________ ___________ _____________(做出了突破).八、提纲类作文83.假设你是红星中学高一学生李华,你的英国朋友George要来北京,期间他想参加中国传统文化方面的课程,来信希望你能推荐一个课程。

Picasso was famous for his work in Cubism, which often uses acute angles and ________ the world is represented as being constructed of cubes and rectangles.A. thatB. whichC. whereD. why参考答案:C【详解】考查非限定性定语从句。
【点睛】本题的难度在于一个句子中含有两个定语从句,可用代入法解题,即:把先行词Cubism带入到第二个定语从句,完整的定语从句是"in Cubism the world is represented as being constructed of cubes and rectangles";in Cubism 在定语从句中作抽象的地点状语,所以用关系副词where。

Dear Jim,I’m glad to hear that you’re interested in garbage classification in Beijing……….范文Dear Jim,I’m glad to hear that you’re interested in garbage classification in Beijing. I am writing to introduce it to you.Garbage classification has lots of benefits. Not only is it beneficial to people’s living environment but also it helps us make good use of the limited natural resources. For that, Beijing has made a policy on garbage classification, which is warmly welcomed. Most families in our community buy garbage cans based on the four main categories: recyclables, kitchen waste, harmful waste and other waste, and sort them carefully before taking them outside. Besides, volunteers stand by the garbage area to help residents put the different kinds of garbage into the right cans. What’s more, to encourage more people to take part in this activity, the community give some rewards such as green plants/greenery to those who do well in garbage classification at the end of each month.I find it important and worthwhile to classify waste. As members of the global village, we should love and protect our environment. I will continue learning to make my hometown a better place. If you have any questions, please contact me.Best wishes,Yours, Li Hua2.假如你是高二1班学生李华,你的美国朋友Chris喜欢中国电影,你给他写一封回信,推荐一部中国电影。

She stopped at a traffic light, where a man, in his 60s, looking out of luck, was sitting alone. She rolled down her window.“Hey!” she shouted. “ I’m driving around giving free haircuts. Do you want one right now?”The man, missing a few teeth, paused and laughed. “Actually,” he said, “I have a funeral(葬礼)to go to this week . I was really hoping to get a haircut.”Then, Steller unloaded a red chair from the car. The man, named Edward, took a seat. As Steller was cutting his curly graying hair, he told her about growing up in Mississippi, about moving to Minnesota, and how he still talked to his mom over phone every day.To date, Steller has given 30 or so such haircuts to people around the city. They are all living on the margins, and she is aware of the power of her work.“It’s more than a haircut,” she says. “I want it to be a gateway, to show value and respect, but also to get to know people.”Steller knows that a haircut can change a life. One changed hers: As a teen, she suffered from ulcerative colitis(溃疡性结肠炎)that was so serious, her hair thinned severely. Seeing this, he r mother arranged for Steller’s first professional haircut.“To sit down and have somebody look at me and talk to me like a person and not just an illness, it helped me feel cared about and less alone,” she says. After that, Steller knew she wanted to have her own hair salon so she could help people feel the way she’d felt that day. Not long after finishing cosmetology school(美容学校)in 2016,she realized her dream. Two years英语试题第3页(共10页)英语试题第4页(共10页)later, she began what she now calls her Red Chair Project, reaching out to people on the streets.Steller said, “I can’t fix their problems, but maybe I can help them feel less alone for a moment.” Steller listens to people’s stories of loss, addiction, and struggle to get back on their feet.An offshoot of the Red Chair Project is the Steller Kindness Project, in which people who commit acts of kindness are invited for a free makeover(美容)at Steller’s salon. In exchange, they tell their stories, which Steller shares on her website. Her hope is that by reading about kind acts, others will be inspired to do their own.So far, it’s working. “You have no idea what people are going to do with the kindness that you give to them,” says Steller.4.Edward agreed to have a haircut by Steller because________.A.he wanted to talk with Steller about his lifeB.he wanted to look good for a special occasionC.he was too old to go to a hair salon by himselfD.he was just waiting for a free haircut on the street5.In paragraph 5, the underlined words “living on the margins” can probably be replaced by________. However, 400 years later, scientists now believe that they could bring the dodo back to life through cloning of some of its closest living relatives.Scientists recently published a paper which identified the overall genomic structure of dinosaurs. The team achieved this by tracing the ancestors (祖先)of birds — the dinosaurs closest living relatives — to create the genomic structure. Researchers involved in the study say it is an emphatic ‘no’ when it comes to the possibility of ever being able to clone dinosaurs, but they do say that more recently extinct birds like the carrier pigeon and the dodo could be brought back due to the fact that they have such close living relatives.University of Kent scientists Darren Griffin and Rebecca O’Connor wrote in an article for The Conversation: “We discovered that birds and most flightless dinosaurs had a lot of chromosomes (packages of DNA). Having so many allows animals to generate variation, the driver of natural selection.”“However, though it is a long shot, it may be possible in future to use Jurassic Park technology to help avoid some of the harm that humans have caused. Mankind has seen the extinction of well-known avian dinosaurs such as the dodo and the passenger pigeon.”“Recovery(恢复)of DNA that is a only few hundred years old from these birds is a far more realistic way. It may also be that eggs from closely related living species might just be good enough. In the right conditions we may be able to use them to resurrect some of these species from extinction.”8.What can we learn about dodos?A.They flew to Mauritius in the 1600s. B.They could be used to clone pigeons.C.They would die out in the near future. D.They might be brought back to life soon.9.How do scientists revive dodos?A.They clone dodos’ closest living relatives.B.They trace those endangered birds closely.C.They look for dinosaurs’ livin g conditions. D.They identify genomic structure of pigeons.10.What does the underlined word “resurrect” in the last paragraph mean?A.Learn. B.Protect.C.Revive. D.Prevent.11.What is the best title for the text?A.Scientists Expect to Clone the Dodos. B.Scientists Find Close Living Relatives.C.Dinosaurs Have Already Been Extinct. D.Some Species Have Been Discovered.DPlastic waste is a huge problem in Indonesia, and this has led the country's second-largest city to come up英语试题 第5页(共10页) 英语试题 第6页(共10页)with a novel approach to encourage residents to recycle —free bus rides in exchange for used plastic bottles and cups. The city of Surabaya launched the initiative back in April —the first Indonesian city to put it into practice, and citizens can ride city buses by either dropping off the plastic bottles and cups at terminals(终点站) or using the plastic items to pay their fare directly.Under the new recycling initiative, a two-hour bus ticket costs up to five plastic bottles or 10 plastic cups, depending on the size. The city hopes this scheme will help it meet its target of becoming free of plastic waste by 2020.''Garbage, like plastic bottles, piles up in my neighborhood, so I brought it here, so the environment is not only cleaner but also to help ease the workload of garbage collectors,'' said Linda, a resident of Surabaya.According to Reuters, data show that 15 percent (nearly 400 tons) of the city's daily waste is plastic. The data also show that one bus can collect up to 550 pounds of plastic each day, totaling about 7.5 tons each month. After collecting the plastic waste, workers remove labels and bottle caps before the plastic is sold to recycling companies. This money then goes toward bus operations and to fund urban green spaces. 12.What does the underlined word ''initiative'' probably mean? A .A new price of riding buses. B .Dropping off the plastic bottles. C .Selling plastic items to get fares. D .The first action to recycle plastic.13.What's Surabaya’s new way to deal with plastic waste? A .Plastic items are only sold to companies. B .Citizens are encouraged to sort plastic bottles. C .Natives can take city buses instead of driving. D .People can trade plastic waste for free bus rides. 14.What's Linda's attitude towards the program? A .Doubtful.B .Supportive.C .Negative.D .Uncaring.15.What's the purpose of Surabaya's taking the measure? A .To develop the city's economy. B .To call on green travel in the city. C .To raise the environmental awareness. D .To solve the worldwide social problem. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

The Olympic Games were being held in Berlin. I had trained, sweated and disciplined myself for 6 years on the running broad jump. A year before, as a college student at the Ohio State, I'd set the world's record of 26 feet 8 1/4 inches. Nearly everyone expected me to win.I was in for a surprise. When the time came for the broad-jump trials (选拔赛), I was shocked to see a tall boy hitting the pit (坑) at almost 26 feet on his practice leaps. He turned out to be a German named Luz Long. He had easily qualified for the finals on his first attempt.A nervous athlete is an athlete who will make mistakes. I fouled (犯规) twice on my qualifying jumps. Walking a few yards from the pit, I kicked at the dirt disgustedly. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to look into the friendly blue eyes of Luz Long. "Hi, I'm Luz Long. I don't think we've met." "Glad to meet you," I said. Then, trying to hide my nervousness, I added, "How are you?" "I'm fine. Something must be eating you. You should be able to qualify with your eyes closed." He said.He seemed to understand my nervousness, and took pains to reassure me. Finally, seeing that I had calmed down somewhat, he said, "What does it matter if you're not the first in the trials? Tomorrow is what counts." All the tension left my body as the truth of what he said hit me. Confidently I qualified with almost a foot to spare.Luz broke his own record and pushed me on to a peak performance. The instant I landed from my final jump — the one which set the Olympic record of 26 feet 5 1/16 inches — he was at my side, congratulating me.46.The author said "I was in for a surprise" because he _____.A.beat Luz Long B.met a great competitorC.qualified for the final D.joined in the Olympic Games 47.What can we learn about the author from the passage?A.He remained confident in the Olympic Games.B.He had qualified for the finals on his first attempt.C.He broke the world record of the running broad jump.D.He had prepared for Berlin Olympics in Ohio State.48.What is the passage mainly about?A.A memorable experience in the Olympics.B.A reliable man in the Olympic Games.C.A surprising result in the Olympic Games.D.A good suggestion on how to win in the OlympicsMy daughter and I collected the empty cans and bottles in our home this morning. We had 6 full garbage bags later so I knew we would be spending a bit more of time at the recycling center. When we got there, a man and his kids were also doing the morning recycling and were using two of the four machines to recycle their plastic and cans. Luckily, we were able to use the 2 remaining machines.Of course, there were others that came, but when they saw the two families with garbage bags full of recycled things, they quickly left. However, one woman came in with just 5 cans and looked as if she was in a hurry. So I stopped what I was doing and let her in to recycle her cans. Of course, she was grateful, and it felt good to let her go ahead of me. But that was not the whole story. My daughter and I continued to work through the bags, but the plastic recycling machine stopped working because it was full, My daughter was left with nothing to do. The other family was still using the other two plastic recycling machines, but it seemed that they were almost done. I just told my daughter we would have to wait until they were done. But the man of the other family came through with another act of kindness. He offered to let us go ahead of him. I was really surprised, because we had more than 5 bottles, but he didn't seem to mind. I happily accepted it.It was great to give and then to get an act of kindness in turn. It was small, I didn't expect it, but it surely brightened up my day.49.From Paragraph 1 we can learn that _____________.A.the author did collecting every morningB.the author usually had 6 bags of cans to recycleC.most people did recycling in the morningD.there were four recycling machines in all50.The author let the woman recycle her cans first because ___________.A.there were many other families thereB.the woman seemed to be in a hurryC.the author wanted to hear a storyD.the woman was very grateful51.Why couldn't the author finish her recycling in time?A.Because her daughter's machine stopped working.B.Because the other family was still using the machines.C.Because she let the other family use her machine first.D.Because she helped recycle the other family's bags first.52.What does the underlined word "it" in Paragraph 3 refer to?A.The kindness. B.The offer.C.The machine. D.The 5 bottles. The Commonwealth games have meant that the eyes of the world have been focused on our fair city-Melbourne. And it would look pretty good, wouldn't it? And what better way to regain our title as world's most livable city? I'm told that we recently lost the right to say this to foreign friends proudly when the international list was re-examined and we slipped to the fourth place. It's hard to see how Melbourne could have lost its crown (桂冠) when you look at what it has to offer. 24 hours Coles, free transport for drunks on New Year's Eve, a new freeway, it's all here. The first focus for the international press will obviously be the endless stadiums dotted around the city. But as well as being full every other weekend, these great places often play host to slightly older kids. At Rod Laver, even the olds get a look-in as the Christian evangelical (教会的) road show rolls into town once a year for a night of stadium worship (崇拜).Another pleasure Melbourne enjoys is that it's very easy to get around. There's a bit of a squeeze during rush hour for sure, but nothing like Bangkok, where the journey home can take longer than growing a beard and parking is barely distinguishable from the drive itself. Driving here is a piece of cake. It must be because the wise people who hand out the taxis seem to actively encourage a career behind the wheel within 24 hours of landing in the country as an educational tool for getting to know the city. No slowing down for learning bends, just go, go, go!As for the social life, with over 40 million bars in Melbourne's CBD alone, we have plenty of places for spectators to celebrate national victory, making this town as good as any and ithappens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Unfortunately, the athletes themselves don't get to smell the roses to the same degree. But the rest of the world will know that this is the place to be. The most livable city in the world. By far the easiest place on earth to cheat death, which is essentially what we're talking about. 53.In Paragraph 1 and 2 the author is wondering ________________.A.how Melbourne has fallen behindB.when the international list was re-examinedC.what they should do to regain the world's focusD.whether Melbourne can offer greater convenience54.What does the author mainly want to show in the passage?A.The casual life styles of Melbourne.B.The competitive advantages of Melbourne.C.The various social activities in Melbourne.D.The convenient transportation in Melbourne.55.From the underlined sentence, we can infer the athletes __________.A.have minimum social activitiesB.take no interest in the beauty of the cityC.are forbidden to live in the busy city centerD.are unwilling to celebrate the victory publicly56.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?CP: Central Point P: Point Sp: Sub-point(次要点) C: ConclusionA.B.C.D.Basically, without the possibility of failure, there is little possibility of success. Education is in danger of becoming a branch of the entertainment industry. Although educationshould indeed be entertaining where possible, it cannot always be fun. Often, it needs the "hard yards".Some educationalists feel that if something causes worry it should be avoided at all costs, I would disagree. Facing up to challenges helps develop children. Avoiding challenges can severely limit their potential. Tougher children are able to try and fail. The less tough may simply fail to try anything new.I’m not advocating putting children under pressure. The real debate is perhaps what pressures are unavoidable. It's not about "throwing children into the deep end", but rather encouraging them to put their foot in the water and giving them the skills to float. This latter approach is basically the work I and my team do at the University of Hull. We measure mental toughness and then provide interventions to improve this. These interventions include psychological skills such as goal setting, relaxation and thought control. So, for example, many children will say: "What happens if it goes wrong?" We work hard to change this so that the sentence reads: "What happens if it goes right?" One word difference, but a world away when thinking about challenges. We try to help children deal more effectively with life using a three-step approach. Firstly, it is important to set realistic and achievable goals. Then it is a matter of finding out what factors (因素) are helping children to achieve these goals and what factors are working against this. The final step is to discover which of these factors can be controlled, or at least influenced, and what factors the child is in reality stuck with. Redirecting children's energies to movable obstacles (障碍) can produce huge life changes. However, I think that for most of us we have become stress averse (反对的) and overreact to it. It has always been there, and it has always been the case that some people enjoy it, some need help to deal with it and some people's lives are ruined by it.Showing our children that stress can be faced with and beaten offers them a way forward. The more a fear is avoided, the bigger it gets.57.From the passage, we know the writer believes ____________.A.education needs challengesB.education should always be funC.children should avoid facing challengesD.the more challenges, the better for the children58.The writer disagreed with some educationalists because ________________.A.some children are less toughB.some pressures are avoidableC.some challenges do good to childrenD.some children are unaware of their potential59.What do the writer and his team do at the University of Hull?A.Record what the children do in stressful situations.B.Make the children tougher mentally and physically.C.Put the children under pressure by giving them challenges.D.Give the children challenges and suggest suitable approaches.60.What is the correct attitude towards stress according to the writer?A.We should try our best to avoid stress.B.We should love stress because stress is unavoidable.C.We should put ourselves to the test in stressful situations.D.We should experience stress and learn skills to deal with it.四、七选五ApathyApathy is a state of lacking interest, enthusiasm or concern. 61.They may also exhibit unfeelingness. Christians have condemned apathy as a lack of love and devotion to God and His works.62.Also meaning "absence of passion" in Greek, the term "apatheia" was used by the Stoics (禁欲主义者) to show a desirable state of indifference towards events and things which lie outside one's control. The modern concept of apathy became well known after World War I, when it was called “shell shock. " Soldiers, living in the trenches among the bombing and gun fires, saw the battlefields filled with dead and wounded companions.63.In 1950, US novelist Passos wrote "Apathy is one of the characteristic responses of any living being when it is subjected to something too tense or too complicated to deal with. " US philosopher Robert M. Hutchins summarizes the concerns about political indifference. He claims that the death of democracy is not likely to be a sudden murder from ambush (埋伏).64.There may be other things contributing to a person's political apathy. Activist Dave Meslin argues that apathy is often the result of social systems actively blocking engagement andinvolvement. He describes various barriers that prevent people from knowing how or why they might get involved in something,65.These include: political media that make it difficult for potentially interested individuals to find relevant information, and media descriptions of heroes as "chosen" by outside forces rather than self-motivated. He suggests that we redefine social apathy not as a population that is stupid or lazy, but as a result of poorly designed systems that fail to invite others to participate.A.It will be a slow process of fading away from apathy and indifference.B.Apathetic people may lack a sense of purpose or meaning in their life.C.The word "dispassion" is used for "apatheia", so as not to confuse it with apathy.D.He focuses on design choices that unintentionally or intentionally exclude people.E.So they gradually developed a sense of disconnected numbness to normal social interaction.F.Although the word "apathy" originates from "apatheia", it is important not to confuse the two terms.G.Author John McManamy argues apathy is a psychological problem for some depressed people, in which they get a sense that "nothing matters".五、单词拼写请根据提示,用单词的正确形式填空。
