四川汶川地震：

⒈The Wenchuan Earthquake which happened on May.12,2008 has been the biggest one since the PRC was founded. The sudden earthquake has done a lot of damage（破坏）to people’s lives and property（财产）.

⒉After the earthquake, our government took an immediate actions to save the people in the disasters areas. Lots of firemen, the PLA and medical workers were sent there to help save the people. Many people from home and abroad offered to donate money, tents, food and medicine and so on to the disasters areas. Many people were saved and those who survived were carried to safety. Also the wounded were treated properly.

⒊In face of the great disaster, all the Chinese have united closely. They try their best to fight against the unusual disaster. We are sure to get through with the support from the whole country.

杭州湾跨海大桥：

Hang Zhou Gulf Spanning Sea Bridge, which links Haiyan, jiaxing, Zhejiang Province with Cixi, Ningbo has 36 kilometers in length (and six car lines). It is designed to shorten the distance between Ningbo and Shanghai by 120 kilometers. It took the workers 4 years and 4 months to build/finish building it and 14 billion yuan and was open to traffic on May.1, 2008.

The bridge, which is the longest in the world, is one of the wonders in the world bridge history. It shows the wisdom of the Chinese people. It will help to develop the communication between Ningbo and Shanghai and further promote（促进）the development of local travel, sightseeing and so on.

塑料袋：

With the development of the society, plastic bags are being more and more widely used in our daily life. Everyone can feel the convenience which it has brought to us. At the same time, it has caused big pollution to our environment. Wherever we go, we can see the plastic bags which are thrown by people. To make things worse, some animals died, because ate the plastic bags by mistake. The “white pollution” is the biggest problem that we are facing now. It’s high time for us to take some actions/measures to solve it. At present, some supermarkets have begun to provide people with bags which they must pay for. What’s more/Besides, people are encouraged to use shopping baskets, most importantly, people must realize the importance of protecting the environment. Here, I urge every one of us to make contribution to making our country more and more beautiful.

重新修订节假日：

Nowadays western festivals such as Mothers’Day and Christmas Day are becoming more and more popular in China, especially among teenagers.

It’s known that different countries have different customs. In my opinion, I’m not against the western festivals. However, while we are paying more attention to the western festivals, we shouldn’t ignore（忽视）our traditional festivals.

It’s wrong to think that “the moon abroad is especially round.”It can do harm to the teenagers. We should remember our own culture and pass them on from generation to generation.

It’s really a good idea for our country to make Qingming Festival, the Mid-autumn Festival, and the Dragon Beat Festival as our public holidays.
