contributions of women during the colonial period and the early history of the newly formed United States.Lacking the right to vote and absent from the seats of power, women were not considered an important force in history.Anne Bradstreet wrote some significant poetry in the seventeenth century,Mercy Otis Warren produced the best contemporary history of the American Revolution, and Abigail Adams penned important letters showing she exercised great political influence over her husband,John, the second President of the United States. But little or no notice was taken of these contributions.During these centuries, women remained invisible in history books.Throughout the nineteenth century, this lack of visibility continued, despite the efforts of female authors writing about women. These writers, like most of their male counterparts, were amateur historians.Their writings were celebratory in nature, and they were uncritical in their selection and use of sources.During the nineteenth century, however, certain feminists showed a keen sense of history by keeping records of activities in which women were engaged.National, regional, and local women's organizations compiled accounts of their doings.Personal correspondence, newspaper clippings, and souvenirs were saved and stored.Thesesources from the core of the two greatest collections of women's history in the United States one at the Elizabeth and Arthur Schlesinger Library at Radcliffé College, and the other the Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College.Such sources have provided valuable materials for later generations of historians.Despite the gathering of more information about ordinary women during the nineteenth century, most of the writing about women conformed to the"great women"theory of history, just as much of mainstream American history concentrated on"great men."To demonstrate that women were making significant contributions to American life, female authors singled out women leaders and wrote biographies,or else important women produced their autobiographies. Most of these leaders were involved in public life as reformers, activists working for women's right to vote,or authors, and were not representative at all of the great of ordinary woman. The lives of ordinary people continued, generally,to be untold in the American histories being published.28.What does the passage mainly discuss?A.The role of literature in early American historiesB.The place of American women in written historiesC.The keen sense of history shown by American womenD.The"great women"approach to history used by American historians29.The word"they"in line 12 refers to .A.effortsB.sourcesC.writingsD.authors30.In the second paragraph, what weakness in nineteenth﹣century histories does the author point out?A.They put too much emphasis on daily activitiesB.They left out discussion of the influence on money or politics.C.The sources of the information they were based on were not necessarily accurate.D.They were printed on poor quality paper.31.What use was made of the nineteenth﹣century women's history materials in the Schlesinger Library and the Sophia Smith Collection?A.They were combined and published in a series of books about women.B.They formed the basis of college courses in the nineteenth century.C.They provided valuable information for twentieth﹣century historical researchers.D.They were shared among women's colleges throughout the United States.32.Why Doesn't Anybody Copy Apple?Apple's products are the envy of the world. They have been amazingly successful and are widely imitated,if not copied. The minute Apple launches a product, everyone knows how to compete. This idea that the basis of competition is set by Apple and then the race is on to climb the path of improvement is unquestionable. When Apple releases a product that defines a category or dramatically changes the structure of an industry,it becomes obvious what needs to be built. But what I wonder is why everyone wants to copy Apple's products but nobody wants to copy being Apple?I can think of two reasons.Firstly,Apple is not worth copying because it's not successful; secondly,Apple's success cannot be copied because it is a magical process. There is a great deal of evidence for the first assumption. The idea of Apple being successful is not something reflected in its stock price.Being valued lower than the average company in the S&P(标准普尔)500indicates that to whatever degree Apple was successful in the past, and it's not seen by the vast majority of observers as successful in the future. Why should one bother copying Apple if it results in being punished with a low valuation? If one works really hard at innovation and then that innovation becomes commoditized(商品化)very quickly, why should one bother? When innovation practitioners are asked what makes Apple successful, the answers regarding the cause of this success border on the mythical. The fabulous part of this assumption is the"chief﹣sorcerer"theory of success which places one magician, like Steve Jobs,in charge of casting all the right spells(符咒).What about Apple's own opinion of what makes it tick?Tim Cook refers to a greatteam and integration(一体)of hardware, software and services as unique Apple advantages. It's a better explanation.Integration is something that can take a long time, but it is possible with great effort.A few companies are starting to make moves in that direction, but efforts are half﹣hearted. There is no"move the Earth"feeling to become an integrated company from Samsung,Google or Microsoft. My own suspicion is that Apple is more aware of what makes it special than it lets out. However,as Tim points out,it's not a formula. It's complex,it's subtle, but it's not magic. It's a process that requires a degree of faith and courage.32.When a new product of Apple comes out, often it .A.starts a revolution of an industryB.ruins an industry dramaticallyC.puts itself in an unbeatable positionD.is soon overtaken by imitated products33.According to the passage, other companies don't"copy being Apple"because .A.Apple is not a successful companyB.they have no access to relevant resourcesC.it's hard to find a magician like Steve JobsD.being Apple takes more than time and efforts34.We can infer from Para.5 that .A.other companies are dedicated to integrationB.Apple itself is fully aware of its unique advantagesC.Apple will hold the leading position in this industryD.other companies don't have an extraordinary team as Apple does35.What does the author think of Tim Cook's statement?A.DoubtfulB.Acceptable.C.UnbelievableD.Disappointing.36.第二节根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项为多余选项.Ways to Track Your Personal Health Information on Your PhoneYour smart phone is a powerful With a group of famous judges and a wide range of talents, it is clear that the competitive atmosphere of American Idol will remain unrivaled by any other show. After all, its success has been “unmatched in broadcasting history.”American Idol came from the British series Pop Idol. Through an application, contestants came into the competition and thereafter, were chosen to audition(试音)for the show. Each candidate would have to perform a piece to the judges, and participate in a strict selection process. Not only would contestants have to sing in groups, they were sometimes tasked to perform pieces without musical instruments. At the end of this stage, only 24 o 36 artists were chosen to enter the semi-final stage. Soon, the fate of the contestants would be decided by the public. During the candidate’s live performance, a free telephone number was displayed on the screen for viewers to dial, to cast their vote. At the end of the night, only 13 lucky singers would be left in the competition; by the finals, only 8 contestants would remain. Finally, a runner-up(亚军)and a winner were announced every season. Though only the winner would receive a milliondollar reward and a significant record deal, other contestants7/ 20would have had a chance to be known by the public. As the famous producer Simon Cowell once said, “The point of the show is not to be mean to loser, but to find a winner.”As the final season of the program begins, past winners will return to the stage to say goodbye and a new winner will be announced. BusinessDA new study suggests that washing dishes by hand is healthier than using a dishwasher.Nobody likes doing the dishes, but it turns out that doing this task might pay off in an unexpected way. According to a new study publishe in the Journal of Pediatrics, washing dishes by hand instead of using a dishwasher might prevent the development of allergies(过敏).Researchers in Sweden surveyed the parents of 1,029 children aged 7 and 8. They discovered that children whose families hand-washed the dishes instead of using a machine were less likely to have allergies.Earlier research has shown that dishes washed by machine are cleaner than those washed by hand. So why would kids who eat off of slightly dirtier plates be better off when it comes to preventing allergies? One explanation is based on a theory known as the “hygiene hypothesis,” which says the reason kids developallergies is that their surroundings are actually too clean. Your9/ 20immune system keeps you healthy by fighting germs(细菌)like bacteria and viruses. But when you have allergies, it overreacts and tries to fight ordinary things like pollen(花粉)or certain foods.Being exposed to germs, especially early in life is good training for the immune system, says the lead author of the study, Dr. Bill Hesselmar of Queen Silvia Hospital in Sweden. “You stimulate the immune system in various ways and it becomes tolerant.”This study shows that while using the dishwasher might be easier, the old-fashioned method of cleaning up could be better for your health.33. Each of these deals replaces the morals of the queue ( waiting your turn) with the morals of the market ( paying a price for faster service) .Markets and queues—paying and waiting—are two different ways of allocating things, and each is appropriate to different activities. The morals of the queue, “ First co me, first served, have anequalitarian ( 平等主义的) appeal. They tell us to ignore privilege, power, and deep pockets. ”The principle seems right on playgrounds and at bus stops. But the morals of the queue do not govern all occasions. If I put my house up for sale, I have no duty to accept the first offer that comes along, simply because it’ s the first. Selling my house a nd waiting for a bus are different activities, properly governed by different standards.Sometimes standards change, and it is unclear which principle should apply. Think of the recorded message you hear, played over and over, as you wait on hold when calling your bank: “ Your call will be answered in the order in which it was received. ” This is essential for the morals of the queue. It’ s as if the company is trying to ease our impatience with fairness. But don’ t take the recorded message too seriously. Today, some people’ s calls are answered faster than others. Call center technology enables companies to “ score” incoming calls and to give faster service to those that come from rich places. You might call this telephonic queue jumping.Of course, markets and queues are not the only ways ofallocating things. Some goods we distribute by value, others by need, still others by chance. However, the tendency of markets to replace queues, and other non-market ways of allocating goods is so common in modern life that we scarcely notice it anymore. It is striking that most of the paid queue-jumping schemes we’ ve considered— at airports and amusement parks, in call centers, doctors’ offices, and national parks— are recent developments, scarcely imaginable three decades ago. The disappearance of the queues in these places may seem an unusual concern, but these are not the only places that markets have entered.21. According to the author, which of the following seems governed by the principle “ First come, first served” ?A. Taking buses.B. Buying houses.C. Flying with an airline.D. Visiting amusement parks.22. The example of the recorded message in Paragraphs 4 and 5 shows .A. the necessity of patience in queuingB. the advantage of modern technologyC. the uncertainty of allocation principleD. the fairness of telephonic services23. The passage is meant to .A. prove paying for faster servicesB. discuss the morals of allocating thingsC. analyze the reason for standing in lineD. blame the behavior of queue jumpingBWith alarming regularity, we read about oil tankers( 油轮) having accidents near land and the terrible consequences of the oil leaking on people, nature, and the environment.Millions of dollars have been used in developing specialchemicals to help dismiss the spills( 溢出 )and to clean up the animals, beaches, and land ruined by the oil. Unfortunately, when many of these chemicals are used, more damage is caused to the environment, especially to lives in the sea.Of all of today’ s environmental d isasters, an oil spill may actually be one of the least serious.Although oil is poisonous, it is a natural material. In the end, it breaks down naturally. There are, of course, long - term effects, but it is usually more serious in the short term.Nature by itself works better than chemical materials, but when there is a spill we demand that governments act immediately with as much hi-tech knowledge as possible. In 1967 the tanker Torrey Canyon sank off the Scilly Isles near the coast of England and spilled 120, 000 tons of oil into the ocean. If you go there today, you will find it hard to see any sign that it ever happened.Governments seem to accept the risk of transporting millions of tons of oil by ship every day so that we can fill up our cars and drive around and cause even more environmental damage. Interestingly, the biggest companies in the world produce cars, and the next biggest supply the gasoline to make them run!We should be thinking more about reducing our dependency on oil. Governments should be encouraging research into new technologies, such as cars run by solar power, electricity, hydrogen, and so on. Much of this research has, in the past, been held back by the oil, gas, and coal.If the world’ s millions of cars were 10% more efficient—and theindustry could easily produce cars at least twice as efficient —we would need many fewer tankers crossing the oceans each year. If this happened, the risks of oil spills would bereduced, and the air we breathe would be cleaner and fresher, too.24. What is the passage mainly talking about?A. Oil spills pollution.B. What oil pollution is.C. Oil tanker accidents.D. How to reduce oil pollution.25. How does the author support the idea that oil spills are not as serious as people believe?A. By giving a description.B. By making an argument.C. By giving an example.D. By drawing a diagram.26. What does the underlined word “ risk” in Paragraph 5 refer to?A. Transportation depending more on oil.B. Poisonous oil breaking down naturally.C. Millions of tons of oil spilling into the sea.D. More environmental damage being caused.27. Which suggestion is made for reducing oil tanker accidents according to the passage?A. We should build safer oil tankers in the near future.B. We should develop new technologies to cut oil use.C. Tankers should not be allowed to sail near the coastlines.D. Countries should build more oil pipelines under the sea.CBy now, we are all aware that social media has had a powerful influence on our culture, in business, on the world - at - large. Social media websites revolutionized the way people communicate and socialize on the Web. However, aside from seeing your friends’ new baby on Facebook, or reading about Justin Bieber’ s latest conflict with the law on Twitter, wha t are some of the real influences?Social networks offer the opportunity for people to re -connect with their old friends and acquaintances, make new friends, share ideas and pictures, and many other activities. Users can keep pace with the latest global and local developments, and participate in campaigns and activities of their choice. Professionals use social media sites like LinkedIn to improve their career and business development. Students can work together with their contemporaries to improve their academic and communication skills.Unfortunately, there are a few downsides too to social networking. If you are not careful, immoral people can target you for cyber bullying( 网络欺凌 ) and disturbance on social sites. School children, young girls, and women can fall victim to online attacks which can create tension and suffering. If you are a victim of cyber bullying, do not take it lying down, but try to take appropriate legal action against the attacker. Many companies have blocked social networks as addicted employees can distract themselves on such sites, instead of focusing on work. In fact, studies show that British companies have lost billions of dollars per year in productivity because of social media addiction among employees. Also, what you carelessly post on the Net can come back to trouble you. Leaking personal information on social sites can make users easily harmed to crimes like identity theft, stalking( 尾随犯罪 ) , etc. Many companies perform a background check on the Web before hiring an employee. If a potential employee has posted something embarrassing on social media, it can greatly affect their chances of getting the job. The same holds true for our relationships too, as our loved ones and friends may get to know if we post something undesirable on social networks.Social media has its advantages and drawbacks as each coinhas two sides. It is up to each user to use social sites wisely to improve their professional and social life, and exercise caution to ensure they do not fall victim to online dangers.28. Paragraph 2 mainly shows that social networks .A. benefit users in various waysB. offer professionals good chancesC. guide users to make right choicesD. help students finish their homework29. Faced with problems caused by social media, some companies .A. take legal action against the attackersB. avoid posting embarrassing informationC. refuse to hire potential addicted employeesD. forbid the use of social networks during work time30. The main purpose of this passage is to .A. share experiences in using social mediaB. provide some advice on social problemsC. raise public awareness of social problemsD. remind people to wisely use social media31. Which of the following shows the development of ideas in this passage?DWhile Jennifer was at home taking an online exam for her business law class, a monitor ( 监控器 ) a few hundred miles away was watching her every move.Using a web camera equipped in Jennifer’ s Los Angeles apartment, the monitor in Phoenix tracked how frequently her eyes moved from the computer screen and listened for the secret sounds of a possible helper in the room. Her Internet access waslocked— remotely— to prevent Internet searches, and her typing style was analyzed to make sure she was who she said she was: Did she enter her student number at the same speed as she had in the past? Or was she slowing down?In the battle against cheating, this is the cutting edge and a key to encourage honesty in the booming field of online education. The technology gives trust to the entire system, to the institution and to online education in general. Only with solid measures against cheating, experts say, can Internet universities show that their exams and diplomas are valid - that students haven’ t just searched the Int ernet to get the right answers.Although online classes have existed for more than a decade, the concern over cheating has become sharper in the last year with the growth of “ open online courses. ” Private colleges, public universities and corporations are jumping into the online education field, spending millions of dollars to attract potential students, while also taking steps to help guarantee honesty at a distance.Aside from the web cameras, a number of other high-tech methods are becoming increasingly popular. Among them are programs that check students’ identities using personal information, such as the telephone number they once used.32. Why was Jennifer watched in an online exam?A. To correct her typing mistakes.B. T o find her secrets in the room.C. To prevent her from slowing down.D. To keep her from dishonest behaviors.33. The underlined expression “ cutting edge” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to .A. advanced techniqueB. sharpening toolC. effective ruleD. dividing line34. For internet universities, exams and diplomas will be valid if .A. they can attract potential studentsB. they can defeat academic cheatingC. they offer students online helpD. they offer many online courses35. Which of the following is the best title of this passage?A. The Advantages of Online ExamsB. The High - tech Methods in Online CoursesC. The Fight against Cheating in Online EducationD. The War against the Booming of Online Education第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。The word addiction usually makes you think of alcohol or drugs. 36 Some people are compulsive ( 难以抑制的 ) shoppers. Others find it impossible to pull themselves away from their work.Still others spend countless hours watching TV or playing computer games.37 Many people enjoy going to malls or stores more and more every day, but it’ s more than a common hobby for some of them. They have turned into shopaholics( 购物狂 ) . They are people who simply enjoy shopping and walking around spending money without being able to stop doing it. They are hooked on shopping and usually buy things that they don’ t need. Even though they don’ t have enough money, they buy everything they want. The question is: why do they have this addiction? There isn’ t a specific answer. Some people go shopping when they are sad, worried, upset or lonely and they want to feel better. They use this activity as a way to forget their problems.

When you are fed up with your work and when you can get a holiday, you can go to the beautiful places to enjoy the beauty of nature and the special character of other cities. You can breathe fresh air, visit some places of interest, meet different people and make friends with them. If you do so, you will forget your tiredness and troubles and build up your health. As a result, you will feel fully relaxed and you will have the energy to do the new tasks waiting for you.But sometimes, travelling is not an enjoyable thing. For example, when the bus or car you take has a bad accident, you just sit in and waste your time. What’s more, the weather can be changeable. If you are climbing a mountain, it may rain suddenly. You may be caught in the rain and may catch a cold. The worst thing is that you may have your money stolen and you may have an injury. All these are terrible things that can happen to a tourist. Therefore, when you are going on a trip, you must prepare yourself carefully. Firstly, you must have clear information about the weather. Second, you should choose a good partner so that you can help each other. Thirdly, you must be careful everywhereand try to avoid accidents. If you do this, you’ll surely enjoy your travels and avoid any unnecessary trouble.21.In the passage, the author suggests that you should______ for a holiday.A.go to the countryB. go to different citiesC. go nowhereD. Both A and B22. In the first paragraph, the underlined words “are fed up with” means ________.A. finish doingB. can’t doC. are tired ofD. are interested in23. What is NOT mentioned in the passage? _______A. You may meet with a good friend.B. You may ill on a trip.C. You will have to spend a lot of money on a bus or in a car.D. It’s necessary for you to know about the weather before you travel.24. In order to have a good holiday, you should _________.A. never be careful enoughB. have a holiday with a good friendC. take an umbrella with youD. be well prepared for your tripBJust picture William Shakespeare, the king of English literature, sitting in front of a computer chatting with a "mouse potato" online. Perhaps both sides would think the other is using a strange newlanguage.Rome was not built in a day, and neither was English. And the Internet speeds up the evolution (进化) of language. The most recent evidence (证明) is some new words have found their way into the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as standard English words."Mouse potato", like couch potato, has nothing to do with food. It refers to (指) people who play on their computers all day. The verb "google" comes from the popular Internet search engine. You can easily guess its meaning. And a "drama queen" is not necessarily someone from a royal (皇族的) family or a stage play. It can refer to a person who often gives emotional performances or reactions (反应).Actually, the evolution of English has never stopped. In 1066, France invaded (侵略) Britain and then conquered (占领) it. That's why we find many French words in the English vocabulary ' words like cafe, mutton and beef. After the American Revolution, English in colonial (殖民地) America began to separate itself from English across the Atlantic. Besides changes in intonation, certain words fell out of favor and were replaced. For instance, "autumn" in Britain became "fall" in the United States.English has changed from a simple language with only 50,000 words into a complex (复杂的) one with over 750,000. This is partly due to globalization (全球化).Many languages have also contributed to (有助于) the development of English. Words like Chinese "tofu" and Japanese "sushi" can also be found in English. Maybe you will create the next new English word. Who knows?25.The writer gave the example of Shakespeare to stress_____________.A. The great change of EnglishB. The large number of English speakerC. The great use of EnglishD. The difficulty in learning English26.Which of the following words can refer to a person?A.mouse potatoB. couch potatoC. drama queenD. all of the above27.Which of the following words doesn’t come from a foreign country?A.AutumnB. MuttonC. TofuD. Sushi28.How many words were added to English during the course of its development?A. 50,000B. 750,000C. 800,000D. 700,000CAvalanches (雪崩) are one of those natural disasters that can cause great damage and only Mother Nature knows when and where they are going to occur. Even with modern technology it is still impossible to know exactly when or where one is going to occur. Mountain climbers are wise to be careful, as avalanches kill many of them each year. The physics of how and why an avalanche occurs iscomplex. There are times of higher probability. During the year, the transition(转变from winter to spring will cause some snow and ice to melt, which may trigger avalanches. Also at daybreak there is a higher probability due to the temperature change .While climbers hike up slopes, some distance between the climbers should be kept. If an avalanche occurs, then there will be fewer lives lost and a higher probability that someone will be able to seek help. Since an accident is more likely to happen when a top layer of snow is loose, avoid areas where heavy snow or rain has recently occurred.Try to choose areas that you are familiar with and stay in areas with rocks, bushes and trees. Trees and bushes allow snow to pile up and keep the layers stable. If an avalanche occurs, trees will take the impact of the snow, so there is a better chance of being safe.Climbers must pay attention to the degree of the slope. Avalanches won’t occur on level ground and there is little snowfall on very steep areas. The greatest danger is in areas where the slope is between 25 and 40 degrees.Remember that, if you get stuck in an avalanche, there is no car hire available to take you to the nearest airport.29. What do we know from the first paragraph?A. Many mountain climbers die of avalanches each year.B. Of all the natural disasters, avalanches cause the greatest damage.C. Most climbers who meet avalanches die for not paying enough attention to avalanches.D. With the development of science and technology, avalanches can now be predicted exactly.30. Why is there a higher probability that an avalanche occurs at daybreak?A. Because daybreak is the coldest time of the day in the mountain.B. Because it often snows heavily in the mountains at daybreak.C. Because temperature changes at daybreak.D. Because the top layer snow is loose at daybreak.31.It wouldn’t be a good idea for a climber to _______ while climbing a mountain.A.Keep some distance from other climbersB.Avoid areas where heavy snow or rain has recently occurred.C.Choose areas that he or she is familiar withD.Climb up a slope which is between 25 and 40 degreesDThis year some twenty-three hundred teenagers (young people aged from13~19) from all over the world will spend about ten months in U.S. homes. They will attend U.S. schools, meet U.S. teenagers, and form impressions of the real America. At the same time, about thirteen hundred American teenagers will go to other countries to learn new languages and gain a new understanding of the rest of the world. Here is a two-way student exchange in action. Fred, nineteen, spent last year in Germany with George'sfamily. In turn, George's son Mike spent a year in Fred's home in America.Fred, a lively young man, knew little German when he arrived, but after two months' study the language began to come to him. School was completely different from what he had expected-much harder. Students rose respectfully when the teacher entered the room. They took fourteen subjects instead of the six that areusual in the United States. There were almost no outside activities.Family life, too, was different. The father's word was law, and all activities were around the family rather than the individual. Fred found the food too simple at first. Also, he missed having a car."Back home, you pick up some friends in a car and go out and have a good time. In Germany, you walk, but you soon learn to like it."At the same time, in America, Mike, a friendly German boy, was also forming his idea. "I suppose I should criticize (批评) American schools," he said. "It is far too easy by our level. But I have to say that I like it very much. In Germany we do nothingbut study. Here we take part in many outside activities. I think that maybe your schools are better in training for citizens. There ought to be some middle ground between the two."33. This year _____ teenagers will take part in the exchange programme between America and other countries.A. twenty-three hundredB. thirteen hundredC. over three thousandD. less than two thousand34. The whole exchange programme is mainly to _____.A. help teenagers in other countries know the real AmericaB. send students in America to travel in GermanyC. let students learn something about other countriesD. have teenagers learn new languages35. What is particular in American schools is that _____.A. there is some middle ground between the two teaching buildingsB. there are a lot of after-school activitiesC. students usually take fourteen subjects in allD. students go outside to enjoy themselves in a car36.After experiencing the American school life, Mike thought __________.A.A better education school include something good from both American and GermanyB.German schools trained students to be better citizen.C.American schools were not as good as German schools.D.The easy life in the American school was more helpful to studentsEFriends play a very important part in everyone’s life.Friendship usually develops during childhood. New friends are made when you progress through school. Those friends that you make as a student can usually lastlong. Friends influence (影响) your development, maturity (成熟) and sense of responsibility. A familiar expres sion is “You can tell a lot about a person by knowing who his friends are.” Friendship is based on common interests. If you like sports, most of your friends are likely to be athletic. If you enjoy reading and shopping, most of your friends do the same. There is another kind of friends. They remember your birthday, they visit you and talk with you and sometimes they have fun with you,but they stay with you only when you are useful to them.If when day you become poor or are in trouble, they will be more than happy to desert you and find other new friendsvery quickly. They are not real friends, but superficial friends.True friends are most special and difficult to find.True friends are ready to share happiness and sadness and exchange views honestly. They take you as you are and give you a helping hand when you are low and in need of help, just like “a bridge over troubled waters.”They will support you, guide you and lead you to success. It’s true to say that a friend in need is a friend indeed, and it is also true to say that a friend without help is a friend indeed. One should be also to tell the difference between a true friend and a superficial friend. There is a Chinese proverb that says “it’s easy to make a fortune but different to have a true friend”.And you ar e really lucky if you have a true friend.37.By saying “you are tell a lot about a person by looking at who is his friend are”,the writer meansA.Like attracts like.B.Friends know a lot about each other.C.Friends can get together to talk a lot.D.You cannot tell what a person is like unless he has a friend.38.The underlined part “a bridge over troubled waters.”probably refer to .A.Something that you are grateful toB.Something that can help you build a bridgeC.Something that can put you to troubleD.Something that can help you out39.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?A.Only those friends you make as a students can last long.B.All friendship develops during childhood.C.Those who leave you when you are in trouble are not real friends.D.It’s easier to have a true friend than to make a fortune.40.Which of the following is the best title for this passage?A.A friend in need is a friend indeed .B.Friends play a very important role in everyone’s life.C.On friendsD.Friends influence your development , maturity and sense of responsibility重庆英语高考题2017及英语综合考试试卷高考是一个实现人生的省力杠杆,此时是你撬动它的最佳时机,并且以后你的人生会呈弧线上升。

When the studio didn't want me for the film—it wanted somebody as well known as Paul—he stood up for me. I don't know how many people would have done that; they would have listened to their agents or the studio powers. The friendship that grew out of the experience of making that film and The Sting four years later had its root in the fact that although there was an age difference, we both came from a tradition of theater and live TV. We were respectful of craft(技艺)and focused on digging into the characters we were going to play. Both of us had the qualities and virtues that are typical of American actors: humorous, aggressive, and making fun of each other—but always with an underlying affection. Those were also at the core(核心)of our relationship off the screen. We shared the belief that if you're fortunate enough to have success, you should put something back—he with his Newman's Own food and his Hole in the Wall camps for kids who are seriously ill, and me with Sundance and the institute and the festival. Paul and I didn't see each other all that regularly, but sharing that brought us together. We supported each other financially and by showing up at events.I last saw him a few months ago. He'd been in and out of the hospital. He and I both knew what the deal was, and we didn't talk about it. Ours was a relationship that didn't need a lot of words.(1)Why was the studio unwilling to give the role to the author at first?A.The studio powers didn't like his agent.B.Paul Newman wanted it.C.He wasn't famous enough.D.The director recommended someone else.(2)Why did Paul and the author have a lasting friendship?A.They worked in the same theater.B.They were of the same age.C.They were both good actors.D.They had similar characteristics.(3)What does the underlined word "that" in paragraph 3 refer to?A.Their care for children.B.Their belief.C.Their success.D.Their support for each other.(4)What is the author's purpose in writing the test?A.To remember a friend.B.To show his love of films.C.To introduce a new movie.D.To share his acting experience.13. Terrafugia Inc.said Monday that its new flying car has completed its first flight, bringing the company closer t o its goal of selling the flying car within the next year. The vehicle-named the Transition-has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car.The Transition, which flew at 1, 400 f eet for eight minutes last month, can reach around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 in the air.It flies using a23-gallon tank of gas and burns 5 gallons per hour in the air.On the ground, it gets 35 miles per gallon.Around 100 people have already put down a﹩10, 000 deposit to get a Transition when they go on sale, and those numbers will likely rise after Terrafugia introduces the Transition to the public later this week at the New York Auto Show. But don't expect it to show up in too many driveways. It's expected to cost﹩279, 000.And it won't help if you're stuck in traffic. The car needs a runway. Inventors have been trying to make flying cars since the 1930s, according to Robert Mann, an airline industry expe rt.But Mann thinks Terrafugia has come closer than anyone to making the flying car a reality. The government has already permitted the company to use special materials to make it easier for the vehicle to fly.The Transition is now going through crash tests to make sure it meets federal safety standards.Mann said Terrafugia was helped by the Federal Aviation Administration's decision five years ago to create a separ ate set of standards for light sport aircraft, which are lower than those for pilots of larger planes.Terrafugia says an owner would need to pass a test and complete 20 hours of flying time to be able to fly the Transition, a requirement pilots would find relatively easy to meet.(1)What is the first paragraph mainly about?________A.The advantages of flying cars.B.The basic data of the Transition.C.The designers of the Transition.(2)Why is the Transition unlikely to show up in too many driveways?________A.It is difficult to operate.B.It causes traffic jams.C.It is very expensive.D.It burns too much fuel.(3)What is the government's attitude to the development of the flying car?________A.Favorable.B.Cautious.C.Ambiguous.D.Disapproving.(4)What is the best title for the text?________A.The Transition's First Flight.B.Flying Car at Auto Show.C.Pilots'Dream Coming True.D.Flying Car Closer to Reality.14. When a leafy plant is under attack, it doesn't sit quietly.Back in 1983, two scientists, Jack Schultz and Ian Baldwin, reported that young maple trees getting bitten by insects send out a particular smell that neighboring plants can get. These chemicals come from the injured parts of the plant and seem to be an alarm. What the plants pump through the air is a mixture of chemicals known as volatile organic compounds, VOCs for short.Scientists have found that all kinds of plants give out VOCs when being attacked. It's a plant's way of crying out.But is anyone listening? Apparently.Because we can watch the neighbors react. Some plants pump out smelly chemicals to keep insects away. But others do double duty. They pump out perfumes designed to attract different insects who are natural enemies to the attackers.Once theyarrive, ________.The attacker who was lunching now becomes lunch. In study after study, it appears that these chemical conversations help the neighbors. The damage is usually more serious on the first plant, but the neighbors, relatively speaking, stay safer because they heard the alarm and knew what to do.Does this mean that plants talk to each other? Scientists don't know.Maybe the first plant just made a cry ofpain or was sending a message to its own branches, and so, in effect, was talking to itself.Perhaps the neighborsjust happened to"overhear"the cry.So information was exchanged, but it wasn't a true, intentional back and forth. Mr. Lee was lying in bed and trying to get to sleep when he heard the doorbell ring. He turned on the light and looked at his clock. It was twelve o’clock. “Who can it be at this time of night?” He decided to answer the door and find out. Therefore, he got up, put on his clothes and went to the door. When he opened the door, there was nobody there. “That is very strange.” Then he went back to his bedroom, took off his clothes, got back into bed, turned off the light and tried to fall asleep.
A few minutes later he heard the bell ring again. Mr. Lee jumped out of his bed angrily and dashed to the door. He opened it, but again found no one out there. He shut the door heavily and tried to keep calm. Then he saw a piece of paper on the floor. He picked it up. There were some words on it, which read “it was now after midnight, so it is April Fool’s Day. April fool to you!”

一、请朗读以下短文中的划线部分
When I was seven years old my mom was diagnosed(诊断) with cancer. The doctors told us my mom might be saved with an operation. But it could also kill her. She chose to take it.
The day before the operation I didn’t go to school, and my mom planned the best day of my life, everything I loved at seven and everything that would put a smile on my face. The day began with her waking me up softly, saying, “Kate, I have a surprise for you. Come and s ee.” The surprise was a doll I had wanted for a long time. Throughout the day, she told me everything that she thought I would need to know to grow up and be a good person; she told me to be the best I could be and that I would always make her proud. We had a picnic in the park, and it was so cold that we moved to the car. The day was filled with laughter. For the first time in a long time I could see she was really happy. I would never forget her smile, or the way her eyes shone as if we were the same age. It was the best day of my life, and I will never forget the conversations we shared.
My mother managed to live through the operation. Now when I look back, I realize that the best day of my life could be her last and this could be the last day I would remember with her, the last one we shared. I also understand how unselfish a mother is.
二.请根据以上文章回答老师提出的几个问题。
