Everyone in China knows giant pandas. In nineteen eighty-five, China began to send pandas to other countries. Today, there are thirty-two pandas living in foreign countries. Giant pandas are very quiet and peaceful. And they are also shy animals. They live alone in the forests. To our surprise, the giant panda eats at least ten kilograms of bamboo each day. Giant pandas are good at climbing trees and swimming. They can live for about twenty years in the wild. Now China has twelve panda reserves to protect them. The biggest is the Wolong Centre, in Sichuan Province. It is two thousand square kilometres in area and there are about two hundred pandas living in it.
