Doctor: Good morning, it’s nice to see you again, Mr. Walsh.

医生：早上好，欢迎再次光临，Walsh先生。

Patient: Hello, Doctor. That extraction has healed very well. I had no trouble with it.

病人：早上好，医生。拔牙伤口长得挺好，没什么问题。

Doctor: Good. You should have a bridge to replace that missing tooth.

医生：太好了。你应该镶一副固定假牙。

Patient: Do you think that it’s absolutely necessary

病人：请问一定要镶吗

Doctor: Yes, I do .If a bridge isn’t made, the two teeth next to the space may move and tip over .If they’re not place in a normal position they may be lost prematurely.

医生：是的。要是不镶的话，空隙两边的牙齿就会向中间移动、倾斜了。牙齿如果不在正常的位置上，可能会引起过早缺失。

Patient: I see .How do you make a bridge

病人：我懂了，固定桥又要怎么做

Doctor: I’ll make two gold crowns on the two teeth on ei ther side of the empty space. Then, a pontic will be connected to the crowns.

医生：我打算在空缺牙两边的两颗牙上做金冠，中间连一颗假牙修复缺牙。

Patient: I really don’t want to have gold teeth.

病人：我实在不想做金牙。

Doctor: Don’t worry. There will be tooth-colored porcelain covering the surface of the bridge. This will make it look natural.

医生：别担心。假牙上可以覆盖一层和牙齿颜色一样的瓷，这样看起来就自然了。

Patient: What do you do to prepare the teeth for the crowns

病人：请问预备牙齿做冠的大致过程是什么样的

Doctor: When I prepare the teeth for the crowns, they look like this model. The next step is to make an impression of your teeth. A model like this one is made from the impression with plaster. The plaster model is used to make the bridge in my dental laboratory. It will take one week for the laboratory technician to make the bridge.

医生：牙齿预备就像这个石膏模型，然后要取个印模。这个模型就是用印模做出来的，石膏模型还要送到技工室，用来制作假牙，大约需要一个星期。

Patient: What do I use in the meantime, Doctor

Doctor: You will wear a temporary plastic bridge to protect your teeth during that time. If there no delays it will take three appointments to finish your case.

Patient: What type of bridge is this called Will I be able to take it out of my mouth

Doctor: This will be a fixed-bridge. A removable bridge is best in some cases, particularly if there are a lot of teeth missing. A removable bridge is less expensive. It doesn’t need as much tooth reduction, because crowns aren’t always needed on the teeth that the bridge is attached to. Also a partial denture is easier to clean, because it can be taken out of mouth during cleaning.

医生：这是固定桥。还有一种活动牙，适合很多病人，特别是缺牙多的病人。活动牙便宜得多，不需要向固定桥一样，需要冠来固定假牙，所以两边牙齿磨除量也较小。活动牙可以由病人自己取出，所以也容易清洗。Patient: Which type is usually better

Doctor: The non-removable bridge is usually better, b ecause it’s firmly attached to the teeth. It helps to prevent the teeth from loosening. It’s more comfortable to wear and chewing because easier.

医生：固定桥与两边牙齿连成一体，所以更合适些。固定牙能预防两边的牙齿松动，戴起来更舒服，功能更好。
