Omega FPU500
FPU500U Stainless Steel Rotor Assembly U I deal for Use in Sterile, Corrosive or General Operating Environments UF low Rates from 1.0 to 2280 mL/Min (36 GPH)U M ounts Directly onto OMEGAFLEX Motor or Compatible Pump Motor U E asily Stackable Mounting for Multichannel Pumping U T hree-Roller Geometry Reduces Pulsation and Improves Priming U P olysulfone Housing for Durability and Chemical ResistanceThe FPU500 Series peristaltic pumps from OMEGA ® offer exceptional simplicity, ease of use, and variable flow capability. A motor turns the pump’s rollers, which squeeze fluid through precision-bore tubing in a wave-like motion. The fluid does not come into contact with the pump; only the outside wall of the tubing does. This makes these pumps ideal for use in sterile, corrosive, or general fluid flow operating environments. The pump is self-priming and non-siphoning. When one section of the tube fatigues, simply move the tube along to an unused section and continue pumping. No tools are required to load the tube. A precision-molded tubing cavity provides the proper occlusion for the recommended tubing. A tube clamp holds the tubing securely in place. Tubing is easily changed without removing the pump. One pump can be used for many differentapplications, or you can mount two pumps onto the motor. The pumps work with a wide variety of OMEGAFLEX ® plastic tubing. Vinyl, FKM, Tygon, silicone, Santoprene, and Norprene ® tubing can be purchased in a broad range of sizes. The standard rotor assembly is made of stainless steel. The FPU500 pump can be purchased with an optional adaptor plate that can be used to mount the pump to a motor other than the FPU5-MT pump motor. The pump comes standard with 2 short mounting screws, used to mount one pump at a time. If you need to stack two pumps, order long mounting screws.SPECIFICATIOnSMaximum Back Pressure: 20 psi Maximum RPM to Prime: 100 RPM Tube Wall: 1.6 mm (1⁄16")Fluid Temperature Range:-46 to 149°C (-50 to 300°F)Dimensions, Pump: 102 H x 102 W x 57 mm D (4 x 4 x 21⁄4")O ptional Mounting Plate: 76 H x 64 W x 3.2 mm D (3 x 21⁄2 x 1⁄8")Weight, Pump: 408 g (14.4 oz)Optional Mounting Plate: 91 g (32 oz)Maximum Tubing Size: 8 mm (5⁄16")Maximum Tube Durometer: 65 Shore A Step 1: Snap Open with Easy Push-Button ReleaseStep 2: Loop Tubing OverRollers. no need to Thread!Step 3: Push to CloseSecure TubingOMEGAFLEX ®PErISTALTIC PuMPFPU500 shown smaller than actual size.L®U D igital Display of Flow Rate, RPM, Total Volume, Fluid Temperature (°C or °F), Flow Duration, or Tube ID U F low Rate 1.0 to 2280 mL/Min (10 to 600 RPM) Reversible U E asy-to-Read Display U R ear Panel Type K SMP Female Thermocouple Input U T achometer Feedback, ±0.5% Speed Control U A ccepts Two Pumps, One on Each Side or Two Stacked Together U M embrane Keypad for Easy Calibration U R emote Control Capabilities • Aux. A LBANY P UMPS Twin Screw Displacement PumpsType SH1 Series. Internal Bearing Twin Screw PumpUse - For pumping liquids with lubricating properties.Type SH2 Series. External Bearing Twin Screw PumpUse - For pumping non-lubricating and high viscosity liquids at pressure and elevated temperature.Type SH3 Series. Internal Seal Twin Screw PumpUse - For pumping non-lubricating or light viscosity products.CONSTRUCTIONAlbany Twin Screw pumps are fitted with hardened timing gears and locating bearings. This ensures there is no con-tact between the screws. The ratio between outside and root diameters is designed to provide maximum shaft stiffness which eliminates body bore wear.PUMPING ACTIONAs the shafts rotate, the fluid is drawn to the suction ends of the casing and propelled to the central delivery area through the right and left hand scrolls. The specially designed profile of these screws provides maximum volumetric efficiency. The mechanical seals (or packed glands) are under inlet pressure. The central discharge ensures that the shafts are hydraulically balanced to eliminate any end thrust.MATERIALSAlbany Twin Screw pumps are manufactured in materials best suited to the pumped liquid and to the application.Materials currently offered cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, aluminium bronze or gunmetal, duplex alloys. Nace specification is available.DRIVE ARRANGEMENTSThe pumps run at 4 pole synchronous motor speeds for normal applications. This eliminates the need for speed reducers.Smaller pumps can run at 2 pole speeds on certain duties. On applications such as oily water or very high viscosity (over 20,000 c/s) 6 or 8 pole, or even slower speeds, can be used.CAPACITY PERFORMANCECapacity range - 10-600 M³/hrPressures - from low pressure up to 50 bars Viscosity's - 1-60,000 centistokesSUCTION PERFORMANCEAlbany Twin Screw pumps give excellent suction lift. Due to the design and gentle action of the screws the pumps require a low NPSH.NPSH required is dependant on viscosity and speed, and can be as low as 0.5M.HORIZONTAL MODELSDESIGN OPTIONSSH1 internal bearings for lubricating fluidsSH2 external bearings for non-lubricating & highviscosity fluidsSH3 internal seal for clean fuels of low viscosityFEATURES•Heating options available•API 676 compliant•Pressures up to 20 bar•Temperatures up to 200ºCVERTICAL MODELSDESIGN OPTIONSSV1 internal bearings for lubricating fluidsSV3 internal seal for clean fluids of low viscositiesFEATURES•Vertical models save space•With or without integral relief valve•API 676 compliant•Pressures up to 20 bar•Temperatures up to 200ºCSV3 typeAlbany Twin Screw pumps are based on Stothert & Pitts twin screw pump design.

Never, upper any circumstance, point thedischarge hose toward a person or an animal, handle with care.Highly contaminated water containing sand or rocks of diameters larger than 0.200” (5mm) could damage and shorten the lifespan of your pump. Always use a strainer at the end of the suction hose. If you are not sure of the quality of the pumped water, use a floating strainer to prevent drawing the sand or stone from bottom source. The Honda GX270 engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 86 or higher (a research octane rating of 91 or higher) and requires a quantity of 1.2 qt (1.1L) of oil (SAE5W-30/SAE10W-30) for a running temperature range of 5°F (-15°C) to 105°F (40°C). (Refer to the engine manual)WARNING: Always stop the engine before refilling the fuel tank.WARNING: The exhaust system will get very hot. If the enginemanufacturer recommendations are not followed it could also emitsparks, which could set the nearby environment on fireCAUTION: Read and understand the engine owner’s manual and thisinstruction handbook before you start the engine.5.Transport and storageTransport :WARNING: Never transport the pump while it is running. The pump and its frame have been designed to be easily transported by two adults or more. The pump shouldn’t be inclined by more than 35° during transport, especially if the engine has oil in it.Storage:Warning: It is important to take into account the dangerous materials and components, such as diesel, oil and the battery. Store away from heatsource, flames and sparks (e.g. heater using a pilot). The pump should be stored in a cool, dry place away from salty air. If the pump is to be stored for over 30 days, you should completely drain the fuel and carefully follow the steps written in your engine owner’s manual. It is important to disconnect the battery and charge it at least once every 3 months if you don’t use the pump for that period of time.6.PerformanceThe pump running under *normal conditions will give you these performances: *Normal conditions: geostatic height of 4’ 10” (1.5m), temperature de 59°F (15°C), water clear of sand and debris, atmospheric pressure < 3280’ (1000m) from sea levelNone conformance to the instructions given in this handbook can reduce the performances given by the pump.Flow (GPM / LPM) Pressure (PSI / Bar)70 / 265 10 / 0.760 / 227 50 / 3.455 / 208 100 / 6.940 / 151 125 / 8.67.Starting procedure7.1.Place the pump on a flat and stable surface with an angle less than15°. Place your pump as close as possible to the water source.WARNING: NEVER run the engine in an enclosed area. Exhaustgas contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and potentiallydeadly gas.7.2.Check the oil level.7.3.Check the fuel level and open the fuel valve.7.4.Connect the suction hose and the discharge hose. Make sure thatthere is a rubber seal on the adapter and screw it tight. Verify the water to be used is clear of sand and/or small rocks, if sand enters your pump it would damage the seal and wear rings, reducing useful life.WARNING: The discharge hose will tend to straighten up when filled withwater. Make sure it won’t compromise the safety of your installation. Warn the surrounding people before you start the pump. It is important that you evaluate the trajectory of the hose to prevent incidents. We recommend to use a check valve strainer on the suction to facilitate the priming process.NOTE: If you are pumping from a hydrant, replace step 7.5 by: “open the valve or any other control mechanism of the hydrant to fill your pump”. Follow the rest of the procedure but skipping sections 7.8 and 7.9. We recommend you avoid having an inlet pressure over 75 PSI, it will accelerate wear of the mechanical seal.7.5.Remove the black cap on the top of the manifold, fill the pump withwater up to the manifold and make sure the pump is sealed from any air leakage. After filling the pump, screw the black cap down leaving it loosely tightened. So, water can come out.7.6.Put the choke lever (if engine is hard to start) and the throttle controlon starting position and the engine shut-off switch in ‘’ON’’ position.WARNING: Always make sure a trained person firmly holds the extremity ofthe discharge hose before starting the engine. The hydraulic power of the pump could cause the hose and nozzle to move violently and cause material damage, severe injuries or even death.7.7.*Start the engine by pulling on the recoil starter handle. *Check theengine owner’s manual for the starting and stopping procedure.WARNING: Make sure you know the stopping procedure of the engine before starting it.7.8.Speed up the engine with the throttle control to its maximum speed.7.9.When water comes out of the manifold top and out of the dischargehose (it should take approximately 15 to 30 seconds when priming from 10’ x 1 1/2" suction hose), firmly tighten the black cap down.CAUTION: NEVER run the pump dry for more than one (1) minute, it could damage the mechanical seal. Always prime the pump as fast as possible.7.10.You can adjust the ratio flow/pressure by two means.7.10.1.Adjust the throttle of the engine to desired pressure.7.10.2.Control the opening of a valve or a nozzle at the end of thedischarge hose. By reducing the opening, pressure will increase andflow will decrease.WARNING: NEVER run the pump at high speed with the discharge valve or nozzleclosed more than one (1) minute. The water could heat up. Upon opening the valve or nozzle, the operator could be burned.8.Operating and stoppingAdjust the throttle lever or the opening of the nozzle at the end of the discharge hose accordingly to the desired flow/pressure rate.To stop the engine, slow down its RPM to idle and turn the engine shut-off switch to « OFF ». Close the fuel valve. Open the drain plug under the body of the pump and let it drain completely.CAUTION: NEVER leave water inside the casing of the pump and valves. The water could freeze and damage them.CAUTION: After each use, it is important to flush the inside of your pump with fresh water. This will help prevent damages and wear to the pump components.IF the pump has been used to pump salt water:•Drain the salt water completely.•Flush the pump with fresh water to prevent corrosion and salt crystals from forming.•Apply a spray silicone compound to the pump internal components.•Replace hose connection caps. (If your pump is equipped with them).WARNING: NEVER let the pump run unsupervised. Stop the engine before transporting the pump or filling the fuel tank. The engine and its components will be very hot when and after running. Let it cool down before touching it.9.StartupGet the pump ready for start-up:Remove from packing. Check the oil level of the engine and the level of fuel. Make sure the electrical connections have not been damaged or disconnected during transport. Make sure that no bolt or screw has been loosened by vibration in transport. Every pump that we build is tested at the factory and meets rigorous standards of quality. To make sure that nothing outside our control occurred between our test and the delivery of your pump, we recommend you do a functional testFunctional test:Connect suction hose of 1.5’’ diameter and a length of 10’. Make sure to completely submerge the end of the suction hose at least 12’’. Connect the discharge hose of 1.5’’ and not more than 30’. The difference of height between the inlet of the pump and the surface of the water source should not be over 6’. The pump test should be done at an altitude lower than 3280’ (1000m) from sea level. Not matching these conditions could reduce the performance of the pump.Initiate starting procedure:Confirm the pump performances correspond to the chart given in this manual (see section 6. Performance), with a maximum variation of 15%. If your test doesn’t match these results, make sure you have the same conditions as described here and that you have correctly followed the starting procedure. Otherwise contact your local C.E.T. Fire pumps dealer or C.E.T. direct.10.MaintenanceThis periodic maintenance table is not enough for a complete servicing of the engine. You must refer to the owner’s manual to make sure to apply a complete maintenance of the engine. It is highly recommended that you keep a record of the number of running hours of your pump and all the maintenance operations applied on it. If you require spare parts or a more detailed maintenance procedures, please contact your local C.E.T. Fire pumps dealer or C.E.T. direct.Dispose properly of the used oil and filters according to the local environmental regulations.WARNING: Never run the pump if the inlet strainer is not on or is damaged.MaintenanceIntervalDailyFirst 8hoursEvery 50hoursEvery 100hours Check oil level and add some if requiredCheck for oil or fuel leakageMake sure the throttle control, the discharge valve, the drain valveand the priming valve are working well.Check and clean the air intake, also make sure the recoil starter ropeis undamaged.Check the protective frame for damage.Clean the pump inlet strainer and make sure it is not obstructed.Check the seals for any leakage, change them if required.Make sure the electric components are properly connected and safe Change the engine oil annually, even if the number of running hours is less than recommended.Recharge the battery at least every three (3) monthsInstruction Handbook PFP-9hpHND-M-TWIN- 22 -C.E.T.
