20121100130 JaneShould Chinese university students have a curfew?University students should absolutely not have a curfew, not only because university has no right to interfere student’s personal schedule but university students are already adults and can totally be responsible to themselves, then why they have to be treated like the birds in the cages? It could be said that having a curfew can be much more convenient for university to administrate her students, but there must have some better approaches to achieve it. Having a curfew demonstrates that university is still regarding students as juveniles while most of the university students are autonomic enough to make their schedule well organized. It’s commonly thought that university should have provided a very free circumstance, which allows students have the rights to decide what and when to do independently. Whenever there is a curfew, especially when the curfew is in a early time, their outdoor activities will be limited, which may lead to an unknown consequence. Students are like birds, how can they fly higher and further if they are limited? No, they can’t.In addition, since most of the students are adult s, it’s time for them to learn to shoulder the responsibility of their behaviors. There is no need to treat them like innocent children, University students should be given chances to make mistakes. Once they made a mistake, they will learn a lesson from it and be aware of it.Furthermore, every student has their own lifestyle,in some way, it’s rude and cruel to compel them to obey a unified workand rest regime. Only when a university is compatible and enlightened can every student achieve a healthy and long-range development. In conclusion, having a curfew is not a wise decision because it does little good to students’ development. University should come up with a more mutually beneficial regime.。

Argumentation is a crucial aspect of academic writing that involves presenting evidence and constructing logical arguments to support a specific claim. There are various methods of argumentation, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Here are some common argumentation methods:Deductive Arguments:Deductive arguments follow a logical structure wherethe conclusion is necessarily true if the premises are true. The premises provide evidence that supports the conclusion, and the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises.Inductive Arguments:Inductive arguments provide evidence that supports a general claim or conclusion. The premises are specificobservations or examples, and the conclusion is a generalization drawn from these premises. Inductive arguments are based on the assumption that what is true in the observed cases is also true in other similar cases.Analogical Arguments:Analogical arguments compare two situations or cases to draw a conclusion about one of them. The two situations are similar in relevant ways, and the conclusion is based on the assumption that what is true of one situation is also true of the other.Causal Arguments:Causal arguments establish a relationship between a cause and its effect. The evidence provided demonstrates that one event (the cause) led to another event (the effect). Causal arguments are based on the assumption that causation occurs in a regular and consistent manner.Ethical Arguments:Ethical arguments appeal to moral principles or valuesto support a position. The evidence provided consists of ethical considerations, such as fairness, justice, or human rights. Ethical arguments are based on the assumption that moral values are universally applicable. The choice of argumentation method depends on thenature of the claim, the available evidence, and the intended audience. Effective argumentation requires careful consideration of the logical structure, clarity of evidence, and persuasive presentation.

英语议论文写作ArgumentativewritingArgumentative writing (议论文)Title: Children under 15 should be banned from museums1.Introduction:Choice one: I believe that children under 15 should not be banned from museums.Choice two: Nowadays whether children under 15 should be banned from museums has triggered a heated discussion / debate among students. From where I stand, children under 15 should not be deprived of the right to visit museums.2.Reason one: some students really enjoy looking at great art.●Example one: I remember my own first wonderful visit to a museum.●Example two: My friend said she went to a super museum in Paris.Reason two: young students should be allowed to study art in museums.●Example one: Some students need to study art in museums.●Example two: Teachers can explain art to their classes.Reason three: visiting museums will enrich students’ knowledge and widen their horizons.3. Conclusion: In conclusion, children under 15 should not be banned from museums………………….I believe that children under 15 should not be banned from museums. Museums are great and valuable for children. It would be terrible to deny them the opportunity to go there.First, some children really enjoy looking at great art. I remember my own first wonderful visit to a museum. I was only 8, but I clearly remember looking at all the paintings inadmiration. Though I am older, I have never lost my love of fine art.Second, young students should be allowed to study art in museums. For example, some students need to study art for their exams. How can they do this if they are not allowed in a museum?I know from personal experience that looking at art close up is very different from seeing only a photograph. In conclusion, children under 15 should not be banned from museums. Instead, we should make full use of museums to teach children to love and respect art at an early age.Nowadays whether children under 15 should be banned from museums has triggered a heated debate among students. From where I stand, children under 15 should not be deprived of the right to visit museums.First and foremost, some students really enjoy looking at great art. Take my friend for example. She went to a super museum when she was a little child. It impressed her so much that now she has a job as an art teacher. Think how different her life might have been if she had never been to an art museum as a child. In addition, teachers can better explain art to their classes at a museum rather than in a classroom. It’s difficult for teachers to explain the different parts of a painting to students just from a small photo.Last but not least, visiting museums will enrich students’knowledge and widen their horizons. An exhibition of paintings and archaeological finds may act as a grand occasion for students. Making full use of the chance, children can fully appreciate works of art, and acquire a better knowledge of cultures in different times. In brief, I strongly recommend that children under 15 should not be banned from museums.。

The Power of Argumentation in EnglishEssaysIn the realm of academic writing, the art of argumentation holds a pivotal position. It is not merely a technique to persuade others but a means to explore ideas, critically analyze them, and present a well-reasoned stance. The essence of argumentation lies in the careful balancingof claims, evidence, and logic to arrive at a convincing conclusion. This balancing act is particularly crucial in English essays, where the language itself often poses challenges due to its nuances and subtleties. The foundation of any argumentative essay is a clear, focused claim that the writer intends to defend. This claim should be stated explicitly in the introduction, settingthe tone for the entire essay. From there, the writer must build a robust framework by providing evidence thatsupports the claim. This evidence could be statistical data, quotes from experts, or anecdotal experiences thatillustrate the point. However, it is crucial to ensure that the evidence is relevant, credible, and sufficient to strengthen the argument. The art of argumentation in English essays alsoinvolves the careful manipulation of language. The writer must choose their words carefully, using precise vocabulary that conveys the intended meaning without ambiguity. Additionally, sentence structure and paragraph organization play a crucial role in maintaining the flow of the argument. Effective transition words and phrases help readers follow the thread of the argument, while well-structured paragraphs ensure that the essay remains focused and coherent. Moreover, argumentative essays require a certain degree of objectivity. The writer must present both sides of the argument fairly, acknowledging opposing viewpoints and addressing them with logic and evidence. This balanced approach not only enhances the credibility of the argument but also encourages critical thinking among readers. In conclusion, the power of argumentation in English essays lies in its ability to persuade, explore, andanalyze ideas in a clear, coherent, and objective manner.By mastering the art of argumentation, writers can convey their thoughts effectively, engage readers deeply, andcontribute to the larger discourse within their field of study.**中文翻译:****英语议论文中的论证力量**在学术写作领域,论证的艺术占据着核心地位。

Sound Argumentation1.
3.concession。
Case 1:The argument is well-presented, but not thoroughly well-reasoned.By making a comparison of the city of, the city Wuhan with the higher speed limit and therefore automobile accidents, with the city of Beijing, an area of a lower speed limit and subsequently fewer accidents, the argument for reducing Wuhan’s speed limits in order to decrease accidents seems logical. However, the citizens of Wuhan are failing to consider other possible alternatives to the increasing car accidents after the raise in speed limit. Such alternatives may include the fact that there are fewer reliable car traveling the roads in Beijing, or that the age bracket of those in Wuhan may be more conductive to driving safely. It is possible that there are more younger, inexperienced, or more elderly, unsafe drivers in Beijing than there are in Wuhan. In addition, the citizens have failed to consider the geographical and physical terrain of the two different areas. Perhaps Wuhan’s highway is in an area of more dangerous curves, sharp turns, or has many intersections or merging points where accidents are more likely to occur. It appears reasonable, therefore, for the citizens to focus on these trouble spots than to reduce the speed in the entire area. Beijing may be in an area of easier driving conditions where accidents are less likely to occur regardless of the speed limit.Overall, the reasoning behind decreasing Wuhan’s speed limit back to its original seems logical as presented above since the citizens are acting in their own best interests and want to protect their safety. However, before any final decisions are made about the reduction in speed limit, the citizens and officials of Wuhan should evaluate all possible alternatives and causes for the increased number of accidents over the six-month period as compared to Beijing.Sample 2This loan applicant claims that a jazz club in X city would be a protfitable venture. To support this claim the applicant points out that X city has no other jazz clubs. He also cites various other evidence that jazz is popular among X residents. Careful examination of this supporting evidence, however, reveals that it lends little credible support to the applicant’s claim.First of all, if the demand for a live jazz club in X city were as great as the applicant claims, it seems that X would already have one or more such clubs. The fact that the closest jazz club is 65 miles away suggests a lack of interest among X residents in a local jazz club. Since the applicant has not adequately responded to this concern, his claim that the proposed club would be profitable is untenable. The popularity of X’s annual jazz festival and its nightly jazz radio show might appear to lend support to the applicant’s claim. However, it is entirely possible that the vast majority of festival attendees are out –of-town visitors. Moreover, the author provides no evidence that radio listeners would be interested in going out to hear live jazz. For that matter, the radio program might actually pose competition for the YY club, especially considering that the program airs during the evening.Nor does the mere fact that several well-know jazz musicians live in X city lend significant support to the applicant’s claim. It is entirely possible that these musicians perform elsewhere, perhaps at the club located 65 miles away. This would go a long way toward explaining why X does not currently have a jazz club, and it would weaken the applicants assertion that the YY club would be profitable. Finally, the nationwide study showing that the average jazz fan spends $ 1, 000 each year on jazz entertainment would lend support to the applicant’s claim only if X residents typify jazz fans nationwide. However, the applicant provides no credible evidence that this is the case.In conclusion, the loan applicant’s argument is not persuasive. To bloster it he must provide clearer evidence that X residents would patronize the YY club on a regular basis. Such evidence might include the following: statistics showing that a significant number of X residents attend the jazz festival each year: a survey showing that fans of X’s jaxx radio program would go out to hear live jazz if they had the chance: and assurances from well-known local jazz musicians that they would play at the YY if given the opportunity.。

Drilling For Oil: To Be Or Not To Be?The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(保护所)is home to grizzlies(灰熊), caribou(北美驯鹿), moose驼鹿, foxes, polar bears, wolves, and birds who migrate as the weather changes. Influential business people in the oil business consider the refuge as the ideal site for the “environmentally sensitive searching” of oil. Ecologists生态学者have their reservations regarding this thought. The officials of main Government body of USA and oil-industry’s influential leaders and others believe that Americans will exploit from the oil that lies under the snow-filled surface of the refuge. According to their view, the oil will help scale down soaring fuel prices and reduce the import to meet our need for oil.I believe the cost of such drilling is too high. I agree with environmentalists who fear that drilling will disturb the migration of more than130,000 caribou. Each spring, the caribou travel 400 miles to give birth on the coastal plain. In this area of the refuge, there are fewer predators食肉动物. In addition, experts say that the oil in the area adds up to less than a six-month supply. Is such a small amount of oil worth the risk drilling poses to these animals?Americans are the largest consumers of oil. Instead of drilling for oil, we should decrease our need for foreign oil simply by using less. We must all work together to cut back on the oil we use in order to conserve the wildlife of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.。

To what extent do you agree or disagree? 或者How far do you agree or disagree? 或者Discuss the advantages and disadvantages about…?

There has been much discussion about the use of nuclear power ever since the first reactor was built. People who support nuclear power think that it provides a cheap and effective means of supplying energy needs. However, in reality it is not cheap at all and the dangers are well-known after the accidents at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island.
