Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. Today, I am honored to stand here and share with you my thoughts on the topic of the college entrance examination, or the "gaokao" in China. The gaokao is a significant event in the life of every Chinese student, as it determines their future academic and professional path. However, the pressure and competition surrounding the gaokao can be overwhelming, and I believe it is important to address this issue and discuss how we can support and encourage each other through this challenging time.First and foremost, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset during the gaokao preparation period. It is natural to feel stressed and anxious about the upcoming exams, but it is crucial to stay optimistic and focused. Instead of being consumed by fear of failure, we should view the gaokao as an opportunity to showcase our knowledge and abilities. By adopting a positive attitude, we can approach the exams with confidence and determination, which will ultimately improve our performance. In addition, I want to highlight the significance of seeking support from our peers and teachers. The gaokao can be an isolating experience, as students often feel overwhelmed by the immense workload and pressure to succeed. However, by forming study groups and seeking help from teachers, we can create a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters learning and growth. Furthermore, it is important for students to communicate their struggles and seek guidance from their teachers, who can provide valuable advice and resources to help them succeed. Moreover, I believe it is essential to prioritize self-care and mental well-being during the gaokao preparation period. Many students sacrifice their health and happiness in pursuit of academic success, neglecting their physical and emotional needs. It is crucial to strike a balance between studying and taking breaks to rest and recharge. Engaging inphysical activity, practicing mindfulness, and spending time with loved ones are all essential for maintaining a healthy mindset and managing stress effectively.Lastly, I want to encourage all students to believe in themselves and their abilities. The gaokao is undoubtedly a challenging and rigorous examination, but it is not an insurmountable obstacle. Every student possesses unique talents and strengths that can contribute to their success. By believing in ourselves and our potential, we can overcome the challenges of the gaokao and emerge victorious. In conclusion, the gaokao is a pivotal moment in the lives of Chinese students, and it is essential to approach it with a positive mindset, seek support from others, prioritize self-care, and believe in ourselves.

The warmth of the fall sun made the day seem as if itwould be perfect. Yes, for me perhaps, but not exactly for the technician whowas working on one of my laboratory machines. The technician definitely knewwhat he was doing and seemed exceptionally qualified except for one thing. Hewas no electrician. He had found a motor that he identified as being bad. Themotor shaft was much too difficult to turn and he had indicated that this was amajor problem. "Expect two to three days for a new one to arrive," he said. One thing my friend didn't understand is that when power is supplied to agenerator, it becomes a motor and when mechanical power is applied to a motor,it becomes a generator. During theproceof his working on the machine hedisconnected the leads to the motor and spun the shaft turning the motor into agenerator. Disconnecting the leads in effect took the load off the motor, theleads being connected causing the motor not to turn freely. He looked ratherperplexed to see the motor shaft spin so freely. For reasons unknown to me, hespun the shaft again and grabbed the wires protruding from the motor. I don'tbelieve I have ever heard quite the string of expletives that this man let flyfrom his mouth. With his eyes widened he had to slap his hand loose from thewires as the flow of generated electricity locked the grip of his hand. Now this being funny all by itself, it evidently wasn't funny enough forthe technician because he spun the motor and grabbed the leads again. Anotherstring of expletives that have never been heard previously by man were unleashedunto the world.Several years ago, I had heard about a man who went fishing with an oldcrank type telephone generator. He'd drop the leads into the water and crank thegenerator causing the fish to be shocked whereby they would float to the top forhim to collect. On this warm and cloudlefall day, I'd say, the technician's fishhad all floated to the top. 9Each of us has a family also love their home but you know we have a common house? - That is our planet! I'm super excited to announce that for our next big English class project, we're going to be learning all about the amazing Silk Road! What was the Silk Road, you ask? Well, it was this incredible trade route that connected the East and West a long, long time ago. It went all the way from China to the Mediterranean region, crossing through tons of different countries and cultures along the way.The route got its name from one of the most precious goods that traveled along it - silk! Silk was a luxurious fabric made in China from the cocoons of silkworms. It was lightweight yet incredibly strong, with the most beautiful shine and softness. Kings, queens, and the richest people in Europe desperatelywanted to get their hands on this rare Chinese silk. But it was super difficult to obtain from the other side of the world! So brave merchants accepted the challenge of navigating the long and dangerous Silk Road trading routes to bring silk westward. These travelers were like explorers, facing desert sandstorms, attacks from bandits, and treacherous mountain passes, all for the profits they could make trading silk and other fine goods like jade, spices, and gunpowder. As they crossed mountains, deserts, and grasslands, the Silk Road merchants encountered people from all sorts of different societies and civilizations. They saw new religions, styles of art and architecture, technologies, languages, and ways of life that were fascinating compared to their own. And in exchange for the Chinese silk, they brought back unexpected items from the West like Glass, wool, gold, and silver. So the Silk Road didn't just spread material goods, it also shared ideas, cultures, languages, religions like Buddhism and Christianity, technologies like paper and printing, plants, crops, foods, and even diseases like the Black Plague! Yikes! It was one of the first major means of cross-cultural connection between civilizations across the whole continent of Eurasia.Just imagine - while Chinese traders were haggling in the marketplaces of Samarkand and Constantinople for the best price for their bolt of precious silk, they were also learning about Greek philosophy, Roman laws, Indian mathematics, and new artistic styles. How mind-blowing is that? At the same time, people in Europe were first encountering mind-bending new concepts like printing, compasses, paper currency, and gunpowder that would revolutionize their societies - all thanks to the connections of the Silk Road! For many centuries, the Silk Road tied together the largest world civilizations in a web of culture, religion, arts, disease, language, technology, foods, and trade. This great trade route utterly transformed the settled civilizations of Eurasia through both peaceful exchange and conflict, leading to an explosion of cross-cultural connections. In our upcoming unit, we're going to be exploring the history, geography, economics, people, cultures, and lasting impacts of this world-shaking trade network. We'll learn about the incredible civilizations of places like China, India, Persia, Arabia, Greece, and Rome that were all connected by the Silk Road. We'll read first-hand accounts from daring travelers who braved the routes like Marco Polo, Ibn Battuta, and Zhang Qian. And we'll discover how amazingly influential this single route was for the modern globalized world we live in today!Get ready to be totally blown away by the crazy stories and huge historical importance of the Silk Road. This is one journey across continents that you won't want to miss out on! We'll read maps, look at ancient artifacts, watch videos, work on group projects, and have an awesome time learning about this fascinating piece of history. I can't wait to travel along the Silk Road with you all!篇5The Awesome Silk Road Adventure!Hi everyone! My name is Timmy and I'm super excited to talk to you all about one of the coolest things ever - the Silk Road! Are you ready to go on an amazing journey through history? Let's get started!First off, what even is the Silk Road? It was this massively long trade route that connected the East and West a loooong time ago. We're talking like from around 200 BC to 1500 AD! That's over 1,700 years of traveling, trading, and exploring. The name "Silk Road" comes from the lucrative Chinese silk trade that traveled this route. But it wasn't just silk - all kinds of goods were exchanged. Spices, grains, veggies, precious metals and gems, and even ideas! This epic road network stretched for over 4,000 miles across deserts, mountains, grasslands, and more. It started in China and ended up all the way in the Mediterranean region. Can you imagine how long that journey took back then? Months and months of travel by camel and horse-drawn carriages. No cars, planes, or even modern roads!Speaking of camels, these humpy desert nomads were total MVPs of the Silk Road. Their big feet helped them walk long distances without sinking into the sand. And get this - they can go for weeks without drinking water! Perfect for those long, dry, desert hauls.Traders has to be super brave to take on the Silk Road. Bandits loved trying to rob the caravans loaded with precious cargo. And if that wasn't scary enough, they also faced extreme weather like burning hot deserts, frostbite-inducing snowstorms, and wild animal attacks! Yikes. But all those risks were worth it for the amazing goods they could buy and sell. The Chinese loved getting luxurious thingslike glass from Rome, rugs from Persia, and ivory from India. Meanwhile, other cultures went gaga over Chinese silk, spices, and porcelain dishes.More than just stuff got shared though. The Silk Road helped spread beliefs, inventions, food, languages, and cultures across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Things like gunpowder, paper, printing, and even pasta all traveled along these ancient routes!Wanna hear a crazy story? In the 600s, Buddhist monks even walked the entire Silk Road from China to India...while rolling! They wanted to avoid harming any living creatures, so they turned over constantly. Now that's commitment! As the roads connected more people, cities along the Silk Road turned into super important trading hubs. Places like Samarkand, Baghdad, and Constantinople (now Istanbul) thrived from all the merchants passing through. These multicultural centers became melting pots of different languages, styles of art and architecture, foods, and more. It was like the ancient equivalent of NYC or Tokyo today - diverse cities where all kinds of people and cultures mixed.Unfortunately, the Silk Road eventually declined once sea routes opened up between Europe and Asia in the 1400s-1500s.Shipping stuff by boat was just easier than that epically long overland journey. But the Silk Road's impact lived on through all the connections it helped create between the East and West. It showed how the exchange of goods, ideas, and cultures can bring the world closer together. That cross-cultural pollination is why we still see silk techniques from China being used to make luxury fashion in Italy today. Or why you can get Chinese cuisine alongside Italian pizza in so many cities globally. The remnants of those ancient trade routes are everywhere if you know where to look!So in a nutshell, the Silk Road was an amazing accomplishment that massively shaped the world as we know it. It helped facilitate some of humanity's greatest cultural exchanges and laid the groundwork for our interconnected modern age.I don't know about you, but learning all these incredible Silk Road tales has me feeling wanderlust! Who's ready to grab a camel and retrace those legendary routes? Maybe we'll spot a mummy's tomb, uncover a long-lost city, or find a cave filled with ancient Buddhist art. One can dream, right?Okay, I've probably rambled on enough about the Silk Road for now. Let me know if you have any other questions! I'd be happy to flex my newfound knowledge as an ancient Silk Road explorer extraordinaire. Until next time, happy trails!篇6Attention all students! I'm super excited to tell you about an awesome lecture we're having next week on the Silk Road. You might be thinking, "What's so great about some old road?" Well, let me tell you - the Silk Road was way more than just a road!First of all, the Silk Road wasn't even a single road. It was a massive network of trade routes connecting the East and West. Can you imagine how crazy it must have been back then, with merchant caravans trekking thousands of miles across deserts, mountains, and plains? Their journey took years! These routes stretched all the way from China to the Mediterranean Sea, passing through cities like Xian, Samarkand, Baghdad, Antioch, and Constantinople. Merchants would load up their camels with boxes full of precious cargo like silk, spices, gems, and even exotic animals! Talk about an adventure.Along the way, they had to deal with sandstorms, extreme temperatures, and even bandits trying to steal their goods. Sometraveled in massive caravans with hundreds of camels for safety. Others were solo merchants just hoping to strike it rich. Can you picture a lone traveler, their camel loaded with gold and spices, all alone in the vast Gobi Desert? So cool, but also pretty scary if you ask me!The stuff they traded was awesome too. Like, we're talking about the first global trade network ever. Crazy, right? Luxuries from the farthest corners of the world were being swapped and sold across the Silk Road routes. The Chinese exported so much silk that people in Europe and the Middle East called it the "Silk Road." But that was just the beginning.Spices from India and Southeast Asia like pepper, cinnamon, and ginger made their way to Rome and Greece. Exotic fruits were shipped from one end to the other. Chinese porcelain, paper, and gunpowder traveled westward. And in the other direction, wool from Persia, glassware from Rome, precious gems from India - it was an endless exchange of goods. But it wasn't just trade goods that spread across the Silk Road - ideas and cultures mingled together too. Styles of art, architecture, religions like Buddhism, innovations like the compass - they all followed the routes. Heck, even the bubonic plague hitched a ride, spreading disaster wherever it went. TheSilk Road connected the world in ways no one could have imagined back then.Historians believe the routes were busiest around the first few centuries AD. Powerful empires like the Romans, Persians, Indians, and Chinese all wanted a piece of the action. They built massive cities as trading hubs along the routes. Places like Samarkand, Merv, Herat - these booming Silk Road cities were like the New York or London of their day.Knights, monks, ambassadors, you name it - people from all walks of life traveled the Silk Road for business, exploration, diplomacy, even spiritual awakening. Just imagine the tales traders brought home from their years on the road. Exotic animals and plants, towering cities of domes and minarets, people with wildly different customs and clothing. Their journeys opened up the world like never before. So why am I rambling on about some old trading routes, you ask? Because the Silk Road was way more than just a bunch of roads. In the recent past, I had the opportunity to attend a lecture specifically tailored for the challenges of writing English essays in the Chinese college entrance examination, known as the "Gaokao." The experience was undoubtedly enriching, not just in terms of the knowledge imparted but also in terms of the insights it provided into the nuances of academic writing. The lecturer, an experienced English educator, began by emphasizing the importance of understanding the exam's format and requirements. He pointed out that a successful essay not only requires sound language skills but also a thorough grasp of the question's intent. This initial lesson was a valuable reminder of the foundational principles of essay writing. We then delved into the various stages of essay planning. The lecturer emphasized the need for a clear outline, highlighting the importance of logical flow and coherence. He stressed that every sentence shouldcontribute to the overall argument, and that transitions between ideas should be smooth and natural. This advice wasparticularly helpful in understanding how to structure my thoughts effectively.Another crucial aspect discussed was the use of language. The lecturer emphasized the importance of precision in vocabulary choice, urging us to avoid cliches and use active voice wherever possible. He also emphasized the role of examples and illustrations in making arguments more convincing. This advice was invaluable in learning how to elevate my writing from the ordinary to the exceptional. The lecture concluded with a session on practice and revision. The lecturer emphasized the importance of regular practice, noting that writing is a skill that improves over time with consistent effort. He also discussed the benefits of peer review, emphasizing the value of feedback in refining one's writing. In conclusion, the lecture was an eye-opening experience. It not only provided practical tips and strategies for improving my writing skills but alsoinstilled in me a deeper understanding of the art of academic writing. I am grateful for the opportunity to have attended such an informative lecture and look forward toapplying the knowledge gained in my future writing endeavors.**高考英语作文讲座心得体会**不久前,我有幸参加了一场专门针对高考英语作文挑战的讲座。

First, then, finally, at last, soon, suddenly, immediately, meanwhile, the moment, while, as soon as等。

On the right/left, to the right/left of, on one side of——on the other side of, at the top/foot/end of, in the middle /centre of, here, there, next to等。

Besides, moreover, worse still, above all, what's more, in addition, to make matters worse, furthermore, what’s more/worse 等。

But, however, though, otherwise, nevertheless, in spite of, on the contrary, on the other hand等。

5、表示是因果关系的连接词语:so, therefore, thus, consequently, as, as a result, owing to, thanks to, due to, because of, as a consequence, on account of 等。

In short ,to sum up, last but not least, in conclusion, in a word, on the whole, in brief, all in all, to conclude

Indeed, in fact, especially, no doubt, obviously, definitely, absolutely, certainly等。

Personally, in one's opinion, in the view of sb, in one's view等。

As we all know, It's known to all that, Nowadays, At present, As everyone knows, It's widely acknowledged that, etc。

Firstly——furthermore, what's more, in addition, as well as, besides——finally等。

Every coin has two sides, on the one hand, on the other hand; on the contrary, however, but等。

经常使用的短语的短语是 :In conclusion, In short, In my opinion, Generally speaking, All in all等。

请你以“Which would you give up: TV, cell, or Web?”

请你以“My Approach to Difficulties in Learning”为题,用英语写一篇短文,谈谈自己的一些做法。

第一段:lead in to the topic。

第二段:observe the traffic rules and civilized behavior。

第三段:conclusion。

当然提纲的后面还应该有一些key words and phrases,比如第一段inappropriate behaviors are often seen, people pay no attention, dangerous, city image等等。
