开场白：

M&F: Good evening Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Grand Final 2010 Speech Contest held by School of Foreign Languages and Cultures.

M: It’s my great honor to be the host for today’s English speech contest. First, let me introduce the hostess for today, a pretty young lady，her name is Luo Shiying, Who is from Class5 Grade 2008.

F: Standing here beside me is Wang Dong. He is from Class 7 Grade 2008.

I hope we can exchange of how to learn English better. These experiences will be very useful for the students in our college. So I hope we’ll make good use of this opportunity.

M: At first, with great honor, we’d like to introduce the guests at present.They’re Professor 陈清贵and Mr.王天恒, welcome!

F: We are honored to have you here, and we hope you can enjoy yourselves today.

Now I have the great privilege of presenting today’s judges from English department:

M: Thank you for being a part of the contest.

(F: Now let’s welc ome Professor Chen to give us the opening address. F: Thank you professor Chen)

F: Now the topic for today’s prepared speech is Better city, better life. The theme of Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life," representing the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future urban environments. This theme represents a central concern of the international community for future policy making, urban strategies and sustainable development. We hope our youth will pay attention to the development of city so as to build a more harmony and beautiful living space.

M: Ok，now let’s go over the competition rules.

F: There are 3 parts in today’s competition, altogether 7 minutes for every contestant. The 1st is Prepared speech，each of the contestants has 3 minutes to present a prepared speech.

M: The 2nd part is Impromptu [im'prɔmptju:] Speech，each of the contestants has 2 minutes to present your Impromptu speech，and they will have 10 minutes’preparation.

F: The 3rd part is Questions and Answers. After your Impromptu [im'prɔm ptju:] speech，you have 2 minutes to answer questions raised by the judges according to your Prepared speech and Impromptu speech. Then another judge will ask you a second question which may not about the first 2 parts. Each Contestant should complete the 3 parts once.

M: Please notice your time assignment, or your scores will be affected. Then I will introduce the scoring rules. Your score includes the following aspects. You should pay more attention to the following aspects.

20% about your Pronunciation/Intonation [ˌɪntəˌneɪʃən]

30% about your Skills of Delivery[diˌlivəri]

30% about your Content

10% about your Stage manner

And 10% about the Timing

Outstanding winner: one person

Honorable mentions: three people

Successful participants: four people

For sophomores and juniors respectively.
