4. therefore adv.因为；所以；因而

拓展：

①therefore 是副词，不能引导从句，两个句子之间要用连词或者分号；而 so是连词，可接句子。

②如果therefore承接的两个句子的主语为同一主语，则可用“therefore ＋v-ing”作结果状语。经典例句：

①We have a growing population and therefore we need more food.

我们的人口在日益增长，所以我们需要更多的食物。

②Agriculture has developed rapidly, therefore providing light industry with enough raw materials. 农业迅速发展, 从而为轻工业提供了充足的原料。

③There is still much to discuss. We shall therefore hold another meeting to discuss it next week.
