12THE GOOD WITCH

When the friends come out of the dark forest,they see a very big hill in front of them.There are big rocks all over it.

'What can we do?'Dorothy says.'We can't climb that hill!'

'Call the Winged Monkeys, Dorothy!'the Woodman says.'They can help us.They can fly over the hill.'

Dorothy puts on the Golden Cap and says the magic words.The Monkeys arrive immediately.

'Can you take us to the land of the Quadlings?'Dorothy asks.

'Yes,of course,'the King replies.

The monkeys take the friends over the hill and put them down in the land of the Quadlings.

12好女巫

当朋友们走出黑暗的森林时，他们看到前面有一座很大的山。到处都是大石头。

“我们能怎么办?””多萝西说。“我们不能爬那座山!”

“叫飞猴们来，多萝茜!”铁皮人说。“他们可以帮助我们。他们可以飞过小山。”

多萝西戴上金冠，念着咒语。猴子们马上就到了。

“你能带我们到桂特林人的国土去吗?”“多萝西问道。

“是的，当然。”国王答道。

猴子们把朋友们带过小山，把他们放在桂特林人的土地上。

Dorothy looks around.It's a beautiful country.The fences and houses are bright red and the corn in the fields is bright yellow.The people are short and fat and their clothes are red.They all have happy smiles on their faces.

They stop at a farm and ask the farmer's wife the way to Glinda's castle. It isn't far and soon they are standing outside the castle gate.There are three pretty girls in red dresses in front of it. One of them takes Dorothy and her friends to a room inside the castle. Dorothy washes her hands and face and combs her hair.Then the girl in the red uniform comes back and takes them to Glinda.

The Witch of the South is sitting on a throne made of rubies.She's very beautiful.She has long red hair and blue eyes and she's wearing a white dress. She smiles at Dorothy.

多萝西环顾四周。这是一个美丽的国家。篱笆和房子是鲜红色的，田野里的玉米是明黄色的。人们又矮又胖，他们的衣服是红色的。他们都有幸福的笑容在他们的脸上。

'What can I do for you?'she says.

'I want to go back to Uncle Henry and Aunt Em in Kansas,'Dorothy says.

Glinda bends down and kisses her.

'I can send you back to Kansas,'she says.'But you must give me the Golden Cap.'

Dorothy takes off the cap and gives it to Glinda.

'What about your friends?'the Witch says.'What do they want to do?She looks at the Scarecrow.

'I want to go back to the Emerald City,'he says.'The people there like me and I want to be their ruler.'

'I like the Winkies and they like me,' the Tin Woodman says.'The Wicked Witch of the West is dead now and they're free.I'd like to be their ruler.' 'I don't want to live in a city.The forest is my home,'the Lion says.'I'd like to be king of all the animals in the forest.'

“我能为您做些什么?””她说。

多萝西说:“我想回到堪萨斯州去，回到亨利叔叔和爱姆婶婶那里去。”

葛琳达弯下腰吻了她。

“我可以把你送回堪萨斯州去，”她说。“不过你得把那顶金冠给我。”

“我喜欢温基人，他们也喜欢我，”铁皮人说。“西方的坏女巫现在死了，他们自由了。我想成为他们的统治者。”

“我不想住在城市里。森林是我的家，”狮子说。“我想成为森林里所有动物的国王。”
