Vol.19No.6引言语言是思维的工具,也是文化的载体,英语教学应是工具性和人文性的和谐统一。

然而,由于受应试教育的影响,高中英语阅读教学只重视英语知识的讲解和训练,而忽视了学生对语言的感受和领悟,导致出现“碎片化”阅读。

在聚焦学生英语学科核心素养的背景下,阅读教学的目标应从传统的培养“阅读技能”转变为发展“阅读素养”。

王蔷(2015)指出,阅读素养包括阅读能力和阅读品格两个要素。

阅读能力包括学生阅读所需要的解码能力及语言知识、技巧和策略等;阅读品格包括阅读习惯、阅读动机、阅读态度和阅读体验等。

文学阅读能为学生提供真实的语言材料,是所有阅读的核心,具有发展语言和思维的特殊功能,还具有促学、体验和文化等功能。

国内外学者都呼吁加强英语教育文学阅读和文学阅读教学。

在种类繁多的文学阅读文本中,笔者选取《典范英语9》来引导高中学生进行课外自主阅读。

一、相关理论依据(一)语言输入和输出理论美国应用语言学家斯蒂芬·克拉申(Stephen D. Krashen)在总结前人理论的基础上提出第二语言习得的重要理论———“i+1”理论。

他认为,理想的输入应该具备以下四个特点:(1)可理解性;(2)趣味与关联性;(3)非语法程序;(4)略高于学生的当前水平,即i+1。

可理解的语言输入是语言习得的必要条件。

只有当学习者接触到的语言材料是可理解的、与其认知相关的、富有趣味性且稍高于目前的语言水平时,才可以通过大量的语言输入对第二语言的发展产生积极作用(陈瑜2013)。

《典范英语》由文学名著改编而来,不仅语言纯正、精彩,词汇复现率高,而且故事情节完整,人物个性鲜明,主题内涵深刻,兼具文学价值和教学价值(李丹丹2017)。

《典范英语》是理想的课外自主阅读材料。

20世纪80年代加拿大语言学家斯温(Swain)的输出假说认为,二语学习者要达到准确且流利的水平,不仅仅需要可理解的输入,更需要可理解的输出。

输出训练是加快语言内化的有力手段(李丹丹2017)。

为了激发学生英语学习的兴趣,进一步提升学生的语言能力,我们把《典范英语》阅读融入初中英语教学,给学生提供更多课外阅读机会。

在《典范英语》阅读实施过程中,有计划、有步骤、分阶段地开展教学活动,做到循序渐进、因材施教。

《典范英语》阅读在七至九年级阶段均有开展,根据语言难度和主题深度,每个年级有固定的阅读文本。

一、《典范英语》阅读的实施过程1.阅读材料的选择(1)阅读材料的适用性克拉申的第二语言习得理论认为,只有当习得者接触到可理解的语言输入(comprehensive input)即略高于现有语言技能水平的第二语言输入,而他又能把注意力集中于对意义或信息的理解而不是对形式的理解时,才能产生习得。

按照克拉申输入假设,表达能力并不能直接从知识传授中获得,却可以通过大量的语言输入并进行大量的听读练习获得。

因此学生的现有语言技能水平是我们挑选读物时必须考虑的因素。

我们学校的大多数学生来自农村,很少有机会接触到英语原版的文学作品,如何选择难度合适的阅读材料至关重要,阅读材料题材或难度不合适,都会让学生失去阅读的兴趣。

一旦学生失去了阅读的兴趣,课外阅读便难以继续开展。

《典范英语》是系列图书读物,集备组老师按系类内已经标注的等级来选择材料。

《典范英语》根据学生的兴趣特点、接受能力和表达能力,广泛开拓题材范围,编排出适合中学生阅读的材料。

材料由浅入深,循序渐进,故事内容从十分简单的短句,逐渐过渡到生动有趣的长句,主要词汇和句型在故事中反复出现,有利于学生们学习。

一、研究背景:践行深度学习,开展《典范英语》教学的必要性近年来,我国的基础教育英语课程目标由发展学生的综合语言运用能力转向培养学生的英语学科核心素养。

如何在实践研究的意义上,在实践转化的意义上以及在理念落地的意义上,让核心素养学科化、日常化、评价化,已成为我们必须思考和探索的问题。

深度学习是一种与浅层学习相对,基于高阶思维发展的理解性学习,它以强调信息整合、面向问题解决、着意迁移运用、促进知识建构、关注评价改进学习策略为基本特征。

深度学习是走进心灵的学习,触及学生的精神成长、思维深处与素养内核,这正是对全面发展、适应社会的基本素养的关照。

英语学科深度学习最为关键的基础环节就是阅读教学的深度学习。

纵观当下阅读教学,依然存在着一些问题。

比如,教师无法摆脱传统教学观念的束缚,分数至上的应试心态常常导致阅读教学偏离了教学初衷,无法塑造学生良好的文化品格,让阅读走入学生的内心;教师所使用的阅读材料或单一或陈旧或乏味,无法激趣促思,启迪心智,满足学生长远发展的需求;教师的专业引领不够深入适切,碎片化、浅层式的文本解读导致 学生无法调动多元思维,实现深层理解和跨文化认知。

一一一一一一一基础英语教育本栏目责任编辑:代影《义务教育英语新课程标准》(2011版)(以下简称《标准》)提出的初中阶段语言技能目标包括:“能找出文章中的主题,理解故事的情节,预测故事情节的发展和可能的结局”“能根据上下文和构词法推断、理解生词的含义”“课外阅读量应累计到达15万词以上”等,足见中学生英语阅读能力的培养对提高中学生英语综合能力至关重要。

而在实际阅读教学中,教师往往过分重视成果而轻视过程,一些教师为了使教学流程完整而设置繁杂、机械的阅读训练。

偏远地区的老师,仍然存在跳出语篇结构和语境直接讲解阅读材料中出现的语法知识等教学方式。

葛炳芳指出,出现这些现象的原因很复杂,但主要是困于阅读课教学“语言第一、应试第一”的价值取向和已经形成机械式重复的、程序化的教学流程。

要改变目前的阅读教学状况,教师不仅要紧跟改革步伐,不断创新,提高阅读教学效果;同时要注意选取合适的阅读材料,在阅读教学过程中渗透对阅读策略的培养,以不断提高中学生的阅读能力。

1阅读策略是培养中学生阅读能力的关键基于《标准》提出的英语的“人文性”和“工具性”修订的《高中英语课程标准》(待颁布)将英语学科核心素养归纳为语言能力、文化品格、思维品质和学习能力四个方面,为培养初中生英语阅读能力提供了新的启发。

阅读教学不再停留在语言能力层面,还要通过文化渗透,讲授阅读策略等方式培养学生的文化品格和思维品质。

陈永媛将中学生阅读能力的影响因素概括为三个方面:语言能力,阅读习惯和阅读方法和技巧。

其中语言能力是基础,阅读习惯是培养阅读能力的先决条件,而阅读方法和技巧则是培养阅读能力的决定性因素。

阅读技巧,又称阅读策略,是指“阅读者在阅读活动中进行有效阅读或解决阅读问题而采取的方式、技巧或行为”,包括预读、略读、浏览,根据上下文猜词义、推测等。

研究表明,在阅读过程中,成功的阅读者能有意识地、灵活地使用阅读策略,“不断与文本进行交互”,而不仅仅停留在“对字面意思的解码”。

一、做好英语预读准备,培养学生良好习惯“准备,是一切的前提”。

要想让学生能够更好地阅读英语,培养学生的英语阅读素养,教师就必须在英语阅读教学前开展阅读预习活动,培养学生的良好阅读习惯,引导学生对阅读文本的内容作出正确的预判。

《典范英语》阅读教材恰好能够满足预读教学的准备需要,它的每一册数包含一个独立且完整的故事。

故事贴合学生的日常生活实际,大多都是学生的日常生活和校园生活,这样能够确保学生在阅读的过程中更为简单的理解英语文本,缩短学生与阅读文本之间的距离。

且《典范英语》教材中都配有插图,能够让学生在预读的过程中更为便利的理解和吸收阅读教材,减少阅读文本的理解误差,能够让学生在教材预读的过程中更好的训练阅读能力,做好阅读准备工作。

高尔基用真实美丽的文笔描述了自已苦难而令人难以置信童年.我们如今丰衣足食,要什么有什么,又是父母的“掌上明珠”、“心肝珍宝”哪能和高尔基那凄惨的童年相提并论,年月的不同就是这差异,一个是天堂,一个是地狱;一个布满陽光,一个处处黑暗。

一、思维导图的概念思维导图(Mind Map)是20世纪70年代初英国著名心理学家托尼·巴赞创建的一种组织性思维工具,是将放射性的思考具体化的方法,能够用文字和图像将大脑中的想法“画出来”,使人的隐性思维显性化、可视化。

而对于小学生来说,他们的特点就是好奇心强,富有创造力,对色彩的感知度比较敏锐,善于运用图画的方式表达自己内心的所知所感,因此,思维导图的加入既可以满足孩子们的身心发展特点,也可以成为他们展示才艺的新方式。

二、思维导图在《典范英语》阅读中的重要性1. 激发学生的学习兴趣兴趣是最好的老师,特别是对于小学生来说,学习英语的主要目的是培养兴趣爱好和阅读习惯。

丰富多样的课程资源对英语学习尤其重要。

英语课程应根据教和学的需求,提供贴近学生、贴近生活、贴近时代的英语学习资源。

创造性地开发和利用现实生活中鲜活的英语学习资源,积极利用广播、电视、报刊、网络信息等,拓展学生学习和运用英语的渠道(教育部2018)。

当前的初中英语阅读教学素材局限于教材中有限的语篇,且很多文章是由编者改编过的,因此,地道性和趣味性不足,加上教学方式单一、程式化,使学生缺乏接触地道英语的机会。

这些都直接或间接导致学生英语词汇量储备较小、阅读兴趣不足及阅读效率低等问题。

因此,在课内阅读的基础上,引入《典范英语》辅助七年级学生进行英语课外阅读。

《典范英语》是英国牛津大学出版社出版的一套享誉世界的英语学习材料。

它语言表达地道、丰富;故事贴近中学生的生活和喜好,能产生共鸣;录音清晰、地道,语气生动、强烈,感情饱满,非常适合中学生模仿学习。

除了一套好的课外教材外,更重要的是思考如何充分利用这套教材。

在不打折扣地完成课内教学目标的前提下,探索如何最优化地利用《典范英语》辅助七年级英语课外阅读教学。

现结合《典范英语》7课外阅读课教学课例进行具体阐释。

一、默读模读,懂大意、感趣味在初中英语教学中,听、读是必要的语言输入,能激发学生读英语、说英语的兴趣,帮助他们积累英语词汇,扫清后续改写、表演、赏析中的理解障碍。

《典范英语》7共18本书,用时预计一年。

教师给学生制订的阅读进度为每两周一本书,主要为默读和模读。

默读,即不出声朗读。

此部分设计了两个默读层次。

一是默读懂大意。

默读开始之前,教师要求学生先整体快速阅读,感知故事大意。

此项阅读任务的设计是依据整体性教学原则,教学“须从整体入手,找准学生的能力起点”(叶根娟2015)。

默读让学生周末自主完成,反馈方式是写100词以内的故事大意总结。

引言《义务教育英语课程标准(2011年版)》明确指出,英语课程应既有利于学生发展语言应用能力,又有利于学生发展语言思维能力。

思维品质是英语学科核心素养的重要内容之一。

思维品质的发展有助于提高学生分析、解决问题的能力,促使他们从跨文化视角观察和认识世界,对事物作出正确的价值判断。

教师须引导学生学会观察、分析和比较语言与文化现象的异同,归纳语言和语篇的特点,并在此基础上培养对知识进行推断、归纳、建构、辨识和评价的能力,从而增强思维的逻辑性和创造性,提高思维品质(梅莹儿2018)。

然而,在目前的初中英语阅读教学中,教师通常只教授语言知识和阅读技巧,忽视了对学生思维品质的培养,再加上课堂教学方式十分单一,导致学生普遍缺乏独立思考的能力。

因此,培养初中生的英语思维品质及提高其英语思维能力势在必行。

一、基于《典范英语》教材培养思维品质的可行性语言学习素材是思维品质培养的土壤。

合适的学习素材能培养学生的语言能力和思维品质。

基于对初中生阅读现状和学业综合水平测试结果的分析,笔者所在学校采用由北京外国语大学中国外语研究中心推荐的《典范英语》(Oxford Reading Tree)作为初中起始年级的课外阅读补充。

《典范英语》共10套74本,每一本为一个独立故事。

《典范英语》作为一种课外阅读材料,可以增加学生的阅读量,提高学生的阅读速度,扩大学生的词汇量,最终提高学生的英语阅读能力。

在学生自主阅读的基础上,学校每周增设一堂阅读拓展课。

通过有目的、有选择、大量的语言输入过程,学生学会辨析阅读材料中的逻辑关系和观点;学会概括信息,建构新概念;正确判断各种思想观点,理性表达自己的观点。

总的来说,初中英语阅读拓展课主要是通过阅读提升学生对不同文化的认知,鼓励学生在阅读过程中发展个体思维的逻辑性、批判性,将思维品质的培养、思维能力和发展和语言学习结合起来。

程晓堂认为《课标》将思维品质纳入核心素养之一,将思维品质的培养提高到了前所未有的高度,突出了英语学科的育人价值。

但是,在实际英语教学中,一线教师普遍忽视思维品质的培养也没有真正理解思维品质的内涵。

梅德明和王蔷指出,教材较少关注思维的训练,语篇的理解大多局限于表层显性信息的获取,以及零碎的主题判断和简单的隐性信息的推断,缺乏对思维系统训练的设计。

一线教师普遍在阅读课上多注重分析语篇所含的语言知识,极少关注如何提升不同思维层次学生的思维品质。

还有些教师认为培养学生思维品质就是让学生拥有批判性思维,即让学生对事物提出不同看法。

针对上述两个问题,作为一线教师,首先应该正确理解思维品质的内涵。

根据《课标》,思维品质指思维在逻辑性、批判性、创新性等方面所表现的能力和水平。

思维以逻辑性为起点、批判性为过渡、创新性为终点,其中思维的逻辑性表现为分析综合、比较分类、归纳演绎和抽象概括的能力;思维的批判性表现为判断推理、质疑解惑、求同辨异、评价预测的能力;思维的创新性表现为纵横思维、联想想象、隐喻通感、模仿创生的能力。

《英语课程标准》规定,小学生在毕业前至少应该达到二级目标。

二级目标对于读的要求是:能够借助图片读懂简单的故事或小短文,并养成按意群阅读的习惯;能正确朗读所学的故事或小短文。

也就是说,小学生应该掌握基本的阅读技巧,并且能够阅读符合年龄段的英文读物。

为了提升学生的英语阅读水平与阅读理解能力,培养学生良好的英语阅读习惯,我校于2015年9月开始在一、二年级开展以《典范英语》阅读为核心的教学与探究。

一、实验操作基本模式兴趣是最好的老师。

对于阅读教学来说,好的学习材料是激发学生阅读兴趣的关键因素之一。

《典范英语》作为享誉世界的外语学习教材,语言纯正地道,内容生动有趣且贴近学生生活,是我校推进英语阅读的首选。

在教学过程中,我们的《典范英语》阅读主要分为课上和课后两部分。

1.课堂阅读(In-Class Reading)在课上,我们主要进行Shared Reading.在此过程中,学生并不是无准备地阅读,而是一边阅读一边思考,最终在阅读后完成教师布置的Graphic Organizers.研究表明,Graphic Organizers能够有效地提高学生的阅读水平,并且能够帮助学生在阅读过程中整理获得的信息,激活已有的认知结构,同时把新的知识和原有的知识相结合(Burke, 2009)。

当然,这也对教师提出了更高的要求,课堂上教师要通过板书帮助学生理清思路,排除阅读中出现的障碍,使学生能够更高效地进行阅读活动。

另外,在课堂阅读的部分,我们还根据学生阅读水平进行了分层,为阅读水平较高的学生提供更高级别的读物和阅读任务,实现了同一班级,同一时间做不同的事情,照顾到了不同层次学生的需求。

2.课后阅读(After-Class Reading)在课后,我们每周都会给学生布置两本《典范英语》故事的阅读任务,同时通过不同层级的Reading List来帮助学生对自己的阅读过程进行记录。

《典范英语》这套阅读教材,故事引人入胜,生动有趣,极富内涵,语言鲜活地道,情节跌宕起伏,能够在很大程度上激起学生的兴趣,让学生愿意去读,并且能够在阅读中体会英语的乐趣,从而提高学生的阅读能力,增强语感,为写作提供了大量的语言输入。

我校初二年级各班在今年开展了《典范英语》7的阅读教学工作,受益匪浅。

一、实验操作基本模式为了尽快提高我校学生阅读水平和阅读能力,我校拟采用以下教学模式。

1.坚持“以学生为中心”的教学原则:始终以学生为主体,发挥学生的主动性和能动性,在双向和多面的交流中,提高学生的语言阅读和交际能力。

2.采用启发式教学的方法,让学生以读为核心,培养学生的英语思维,用英语来认识世界,学习文化,增长才智。

具体实施办法每周完成一本故事。

课前:学生通过课前预习查出生词词义,上下文解释,词性及标准读音。

做好读书笔记,适当摘抄好词好句在摘抄本上,课下反复诵读。

同时养成记录阅读随笔的习惯。

课上:带领同学们一起学习本周的《典范英语》故事。

先听听力,有感情的跟读;对故事情节了解之后开展的角色扮演,或带有道具和PPT的话剧表演。

然后将故事梗概总结并作出故事简写,将单词归纳整理进行单词认读大赛。

例如《皮皮公主的假期》一课。

课前预习时,可以将同学们分为若干自读小组,小组一起阅读该本教材,并理解剧情的发展。

然后以小组为单位,让同学们搜集相关图片素材,制作成风格独特的PPT。

并制作相关的道具如王冠,行李箱,马车,餐桌,海滩城堡,旋转木马,过山车等。

上课时每小组分别表演他们课前已编排好的短剧,剧情适当依照课文的情景,更可自己增加新情景,但是台词必须用到本册的单词。

一、研究背景2017年高中英语新课标中指出,语言能力指在社会情境中,以听、说、读、看、写等方式,理解和表达意义的能力,以及在学习和使用语言的过程中形成的语言意识和语感。

英语语言能力构成英语学科核心素养的基础要素。

英语语言能力的提高蕴含文化意识、思维品质和学习能力的提升,有助于学生拓展国际视野和思维方式,开展跨文化交流。

阅读教学是初中英语教学的一个重要组成部分。

2018年6月,北京市第十五中学申请加入全国教育科学“十三五”规划教育部重点课题--《中国外语教育理论与实践创新研究》之中,2018年9月至今,本校参与“通过整体外语教育促进初中生阅读和写作能力发展的行动研究”课题,初中部的三个年级同时进行《典范英语》教学工作。

响应课题组要求,本人作为初三备课组教师,为本校初三学生搭建学习平台,每周定时开展典范英语阅读活动,平均来说,两周完成一本《典范英语》的教学活动。

实验模式为阅读探究----任务型、应用探究型及合作探究型相结合。

实验目标为在初中阶段激发学生的英语学习兴趣,培养自主学习能力,开发有效的学习策略----培养阅读习惯和阅读技巧,培养思维能力和创造力。

引言根据布鲁姆的认知目标分类理论,青少年的抽象逻辑思维发展是一个由低级到高级、由识记到创新的过程。

青少年学生的认知维度包括六大类别:记忆、理解、应用、分析、评价和创造,因此,在英语阅读教学中,也应据此认知发展规律,设计问题和活动,帮助学生提升思维品质。

英语学科的核心素养主要由语言能力、思维品质、文化意识和学习能力四方面构成。

其中,思维品质指人的思维个性特征,反映其思维的逻辑性、批判性、创造性等方面表现的水平和特点。

好的思维品质影响到一个人的长远发展和终身发展,所以思维品质是核心素养的核心因素。

思维品质有先天因素,更需要后天的学习和训练。

所以,培养思维品质就成为英语教学的重中之重。

思维品质是思维活动中智力与能力在个体身上的表现,主要包括思维的敏捷性、灵活性、创造性、批判性和深刻性等。

然而,在中学英语课堂教学中,英语教学与思维品质的提升关联不多。

通常,教师比较关注表层信息,缺乏对深层信息的挖掘与思考以及对学生思维的训练。

因此,通过挖掘更多的课程资源,进行课外补充阅读,并拿出一节课专门用于课外阅读教学就显得尤为必要,笔者所在学校根据学生水平,推荐了《典范英语6-11》系列丛书,作为初中生课外补充阅读材料。

那么,如何在开展课外阅读活动中,提升学生的思维品质呢?下面,笔者以典范英语6中的The Boss Dog of Blossom Street 的教学为例,谈谈如何在初中英语课外阅读教学实践中提升学生的思维品质。

My childhood memory
The memory of waiting for the popcorn is just as sweet as that yummy snack. I used to charge at the north of the village with my friends when the Spring Festival arrived. There was a small and rusty machine, always making popcorns with a booming noise. Children including me gathered around it and I could feel my mouth was watering. 没有一套阅读材料是完美的,能够完全适合自己的学生。
每种阅读材料都有自己的闪光点,当然也有自己的不足。
想要让自己的学生更好地开展起阅读,我们英语教师必然是身先 士卒的领路人。
同时这也是一个长期探索实践的过程,需要我们慢慢找到更适合 自己学生的阅读之路。
