语篇专练与基础写作:Unit 4 Making the News
语篇专练与基础写作Ⅰ.阅读理解When you have a question about something, where do you go?For many people the answer is simple. They go online to a search engine like Google or Yahoo. But what about people in rural or underdeveloped areas who may have no way to get on the Internet?Luckily,Rose Shuman,a business and international development consultant in California, has found a way for them. Her amazing solution is “Question Box”.Question Box is a service that provides answers free of charge—for people who cannot search the Internet directly. They might not be able to read,or they simply have no access.Question Box began two years ago in India.People use a metal call box with a pushtotalk button to connect to a live operator,as Rose Shuman explains,“You just push a button,a big green button, and that will connect you directly to our operators who are sitting in front of computers, and speak your language. And you can ask them any sort of question you want, and they’ll look it up in English or in Hindi,or whatever the main language is,and translate the answer right back for you.”The service is currently offered in two villages. The latest version of the box uses mobile phone technology and solar panels in case the electrical power fails.Rose Shuman says the aim was to make the box as easy as possible for users.“Rather than try to bring a lot of infrastructure(基础设施) to them and expect them to learn how to use the Internet, the idea was to make a technology that even Grandma could use, figuring that Grandma could probably walk up to a box and push a button,” added Shuman. In April,Question Box expanded to Uganda.Forty community workers with mobile phones connect villagers to call center operators in Kampala. The community workers go around telling people about the service. They wear Tshirts that say “Ask Me.”But Internet service in Uganda proved slow and undependable. So Question Box teamed up with a local technology company to store information on a local server. That way,the researchers in Kampala can quickly search the database for answers when users ask about current events and many other subjects.Rose Shuman continued,“When was Mahatma Gandhi born and how long is the Nile River? What’s the tallest mountain? The funniest one I think we got was,‘did the pyramids ever move to another place?’,which we found pretty funny. But we did look it up,and they haven’t moved.”1.According to the passage,“Question Box” is a service intended to .A.help improve the living standard of the people in poor areasB.promote the computer technologyC.provide answers raised by the people who have no access to the InternetD.enrich the local people’s life答案C解析细节理解题。

写作第四次大作业111
A REPORT ONMY EXPERIENCE AT THE YONGCHANG PRIMARY SCHOOL—— Ge YimingI was sent by the University to work as a teacher support at Yongchang Primary School during June - August. I worked as an English teacher in charge of a Class one, Grade six. I would go to the school twice a week. The two months part-time service was really a valuable experience for me.I obtained a lot of inspiration I had never thought of before, not only the inspiration in the English knowledge but in interpersonal communication. In the past three years, I would be a tutor for five or six students. I knew how to arrange classes, how to explain knowledge. While after all, it was just for a few students. But this support teaching activity improved my ability and confidence facing and solving more problems. However, in the last few years, I have always been living in the world of adults, almost having no chance to communicate with children, especially primary school students. So I am not sure whether I am able to be a teacher or not to make my dream come true. The experience has given me an opportunity to test my ability and taught the importance of communication skills. As we all know, teacher is a great career, and teacher has t o establish a good image in students’ hearts. Because students always regard their teachers as examples and they would like to imitate their teachers. Therefore as a teacher, I had to pay attention to the way of dressing, the way of saying words, the way of doing something and so on.During my experience at Yongchang Primary School, I found I could use what I learned at university and my part-time job, being a tutor at vacation. I am happy that years of hard work has paid off. To be honest, when the first time I walked into the classroom, I was nervous. After my biggest efforts to teach them, they still did not know what I was talking about. I was puzzled completely and did not know how to deal with it. So I had to stand numbly on the platform. Then I communicated with every one of them and encouraged them to speak out my disadvantages in teaching. Finally, I got the reason was that I never think from theirperspectives. As if they were adults but not the young children only 13 years old. Then I corrected my mistakes. Within a short period of time, I gradually adapted my new job and did it well. Students in class could focused on the knowledge I was teaching and would like to speak out their opinions actively. Besides, I showed PPT and played games in class to develop students’ interest. All of these got a good result.Despite the satisfaction, I found there was still a lot for me to learn. Several I was baffled by students’ creative questions and stories that were totally foreign for me. I realized I had to broaden my horizon and strengthen my ability of creative thinking. Working harder was the only way.Except students of our university, there were still a lot of students coming from other colleges. They came from Normal English Major Department. Their language skills seemed no worse than ours but they had one advantage that we apparently did not have. They were all good at children psychology. So they understood children and knew how to let students like their classes. Therefore I would like to make two suggestions, which will possibly make a English majors more competitive.Apart from some basic courses for English majors, other practical courses also should be added into curriculum such as pedagogy and psychology. These skills will be much helpful for our further job requirements. Our students should be given more opportunities to put what they learned at school into practice to improve their confidence and the ability of communicating. Furthermore, students should learn to hold and create chances. You can take part in spoken English contest or working as a tutor in spare time.。

The number of private cars has increased more than 6 times from nearly 3 million in 1996 to over 15 million in 2006. I think there are two main reasons for these changes. Firstly, the economy of China has developed so rapidly that many Chinese people want to own private cars. Secondly, in modern society, many Chinese need a car to do business so as to save time. In my view, however, as the car ownership constantly increases year by year, a large number of social problems, such as traffic jams, will turn up nearly every city in China.第二节读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)阅读下面的对话,然后按照要求写一篇150左右的英语短文。

人文英语作业4写作### 人文英语作业4写作The Impact of Technology on Human RelationshipsIn the modern era, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, significantly influencing the way we communicate and interact with one another. This essay will explore the impact of technology on human relationships, focusing on both its positive and negative aspects.Positive Impacts1. Enhanced Communication: Technology has made it possiblefor people to communicate instantly across vast distances. Social media platforms, video calls, and instant messaging apps have bridged the gap between people, allowing for easier and quicker communication.2. Access to Information: The internet has become a treasure trove of information. This has facilitated learning and sharing of knowledge, helping to build stronger relationships based on shared interests and intellectual curiosity.3. Support Networks: Online communities and support groups have provided a platform for people with similar experiencesor challenges to connect and offer mutual support, which can be particularly beneficial for those who may feel isolated.Negative Impacts1. Reduced Face-to-Face Interaction: While technology has improved communication, it has also led to a decrease inface-to-face interactions. This can result in a lack of personal connection and the development of social skills.2. Privacy Concerns: The digital age has brought with it concerns about privacy and the misuse of personal information. This can lead to distrust and a reluctance to form close relationships.3. 英语七年级下册基础训练第四单元作文
英语七年级下册基础训练第四单元作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Life as a Seventh GraderBeing a 7th grader is a really exciting time in my life! So many things are changing and I'm experiencing a lot of new things. Let me tell you all about what my daily life is like.I wake up around 6:30am on school days after my mom yells up the stairs for me to get out of bed. I'm definitely not a morning person, so it takes a little while for me to get going. I drag myself to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready. My mom makes me eat at least a little breakfast, usually some cereal or a granola bar, even though I never feel very hungry first thing. The school bus comes around 7:20am to pick me and my neighbor Billy up. We've been friends since we were little kids. The bus ride takes about 25 minutes and I either listen to music on my headphones or chat with my friends. Sometimes we talk about homework or tests coming up, but a lot of times we just laugh about funny videos or jokes. My first class is Math which I'm okay at but not my favorite subject. I much prefer my English and History classes in themid-morning. We're reading some really cool novels in English this semester. In History we just started learning about the American Revolution which is pretty interesting stuff.Around 11:30am it's lunchtime which is definitely one of the highlights of my day. The food isn't amazing but it beats a sandwich every day. I eat with a bunch of my guy friends and we tend to get pretty loud and rowdy. The lunchroom monitors are always giving us looks to keep it down. Once we're done eating there's still like 20 minutes of lunchtime left so we go outside if it's nice out and play basketball or just hang around. After lunch it's off to Science class which I'm actually doing alright in this year. We get to do a lot of hands-on experiments and projects which I enjoy. Then it's Spanish class which is just okay - not my best subject for sure. I much prefer my last class of the day which is Art. I've always loved drawing and painting so Art class is like a relaxing break at the end of the day for me.The final bell rings at 3pm and I meet up with Billy again to catch the bus home. We spend most of the bus ride zoning out and listening to music after a long day of classes. When I get home around 3:45pm, I try to squeeze in at least an hour or twoof homework before dinner. My parents are usually still at work, so I have the house to myself for a while.Once my parents get home around 6pm, we eat dinner together. We'll talk about our days and stuff going on. I try not to be on my phone too much during this family time. After dinner, I'll either keep working on any remaining homework or I'll hang out and watch some TV or play video games if I'm all done with school work.Around 9pm I start getting ready for bed - taking a shower, brushing my teeth, getting my backpack and clothes ready for the next day. I'm usually exhausted by this point and am happy to go to sleep early. Weekends are a nice break where I can sleep in late and just hang out with friends or play sports when I'm not having to cram for any tests or major projects due.Of course every day and every week is a little different, but that's a pretty typical schedule and routine for me as a 7th grader. There's a good mix of classes, some I like more than others. Seeing my friends every day is the best part for sure. I'm having to take on a lot more responsibilities with harder classes and more homework than elementary school. But so far I'm managing okay and still having fun being a kid before high school hits!篇2My Life as a Young StudentSchool days are the best days, or so I've been told by many adults. As a young student myself, I have a slightly different perspective. Don't get me wrong, I love learning new things and being with my friends, but there's also a lot of hard work and challenges that come with being a student. Let me tell you about a typical day in my life. The alarm clock blares at 6:30 am, jolting me out of a deep sleep. I groan and hit the snooze button, trying to catch a few more precious minutes of rest. But my mom is having none of it. "Time to get up, sleepyhead!" she calls from the kitchen. Reluctantly, I drag myself out of bed and get ready for the day ahead. After wolfing down a quick breakfast of cereal and orange juice, I gather my backpack and head out the door. The school bus arrives promptly at 7:45, and I climb aboard, finding a seat near the back with my best friend, Alex. We chat and laugh about the latest funny video we saw online until the bus pulls up to the school gates. The first few classes of the day are always the toughest. Math is my least favorite subject, and I find it hard to stay focused on all the numbers and equations. English is a bit more enjoyable, especially when we get to read interesting stories or write creative pieces. Still, paying attention for hours on end can be a real challenge for an energetic kid like me.Finally, the bell rings for lunch, and I practically sprint to the cafeteria. After devouring my peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I head outside to the playground for some much-needed exercise.A group of us organizes a game of kickball, running and kicking until we're all out of breath and covered in dirt and sweat. The afternoon passes in a blur of science experiments, history lessons, and art projects. By the time the final bell rings at 3:15, I'm exhausted but also a little sad that the day is over. I love seeing my friends and learning new things, even if it can be tough sometimes. On the bus ride home, I chat with Alex about our plans for the weekend. Maybe we'll go to the park and play some basketball, or maybe we'll just hang out at one of our houses and play video games. Either way, I'm looking forward to a break from the daily grind of school.Once I'm home, I grab a snack and get started on my homework. Math worksheets, spelling practice, and reading assignments all need to be completed before I can relax. It's not my favorite part of the day, but I know it's important to stay on top of my work. After dinner, I finally have some free time. I might watch a little TV, or I might go outside and play with my dog, Buddy. Sometimes, I'll even crack open a book and read for pleasure, escaping into fantastical worlds of adventure and imagination. As bedtime approaches, I start to wind down. I take a nice, warm bath and get into my pajamas. Mom tucks me in and reads me a bedtime story, just like she's done since I was a little kid. Even though I'm getting older, I still cherish these special moments with her.As I drift off to sleep, I can't help but reflect on how lucky I am. Sure, being a student can be tough, but it's also an incredible opportunity to learn and grow. I may complain about homework and early mornings, but deep down, I know these are some of the best days of my life. Who knows what adventures and challenges await me in the years ahead? For now, I'll just enjoy being a kid and soak up every moment.篇3My Awesome Summer VacationYay! Summer vacation is finally here! No more waking up early, no more homework, and no more boring classes. Just three long months of pure fun and freedom. I can't wait to tell you all about the amazing things I did this summer. The first few weeks, I just lazed around at home, sleeping in late and playing video games all day. My mom kept nagging me to go outside and get some fresh air, but I ignored her. I was having too much fun beating all the levels on my new game. I even stayed up until 3 am some nights! Mom wasn't too happy about that.Eventually, though, my parents forced me to go to summer camp for a couple of weeks. I wasn't too excited about it at first, but it actually turned out to be really fun! We went hiking, canoeing, played capture the flag, and made s'mores around the campfire every night. My favorite part was the talent show on the last day. I did a hilarious comedy skit with my new friends, and we won first prize! After camp, my family took a road trip to visit my aunt and uncle in another state. The drive was sooo boring – my littlebrother wouldn't stop singing annoying songs the whole time. But when we got there, it was awesome! My cousins have a huge backyard with a treehouse, sandbox, and even a little pool. We had epic water balloon fights and raced each other on our bikes.I didn't want to leave. The best part of the summer, though, was our family vacation to the beach! We rented this cool beach house right on the water. I could wake up, have breakfast, and just run straight into the ocean. We went boogie boarding, built gigantic sandcastles, and had picnics on the beach. One night, we even saw baby turtles hatching from their nest and waddling into the ocean! It was the cutest thing ever.On the way home, we stopped at a famous amusement park. That place was a thrill ride lover's dream! I went on the craziest rollercoasters with loops, corkscrews, you name it. I also won a huge teddy bear from the Ring Toss game, which barely fit in the car. My brother was so jealous.Sadly, those three months just flew by way too fast. Before I knew it, it was time to go back to school, buy new books and supplies, and see my friends again. While I'm definitely going to miss the freedom and fun of summer, I actually can't wait tolearn new things and make more awesome memories this school year. This was hands-down the best summer ever!篇4My Family VacationHi there! My name is Emma, and I'm a 12-year-old student in Grade 7. I just had the most awesome family vacation ever, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!It all started a few months ago when my parents told me and my younger brother, Max, that we were going to spend our summer break in a beautiful beach town called Seaside Cove. Max and I were super excited because we love swimming, building sandcastles, and playing beach games. The day finally arrived when we packed our bags and hopped into our trusty minivan for the long drive to Seaside Cove. It took us almost six hours to get there, but the journey was really fun. We played car games, sang along to our favorite songs, and stopped for snacks and restroom breaks. When we finally arrived at our hotel, we were amazed by how beautiful it was. It had a huge swimming pool, a waterslide, and it was just a short walk away from the beach. Our room waspretty neat too, with a balcony that had an amazing view of the ocean. The first thing we did after settling in was to hit the beach. The sand was so soft and warm, and the water was crystal clear and refreshing. We spent hours building sandcastles, collecting seashells, and playing in the waves. Max even tried to surf for the first time, but he ended up wiping out a lot and swallowing a ton of seawater! In the evenings, we would go for long walks along the beach, watching the sunset paint the sky with beautiful shades of orange and pink. Sometimes, we would even roast marshmallows and make s'mores around a beach bonfire. One of the coolest things we did was go on adolphin-watching tour. We hopped onto a boat and sailed out into the ocean, where we saw dozens of playful dolphins jumping and swimming alongside us. It was such an incredible experience, and we even got to see a few whales in the distance!Another day, we went on a hiking trail that led us to a beautiful waterfall hidden deep in the forest. The sound of the cascading water was so soothing, and we even saw a few curious deer grazing nearby.Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and before we knew it, it was time to pack our bags and head back home. As we drove away from Seaside Cove, we felt a little sad, but we were also incredibly grateful for the wonderful memories we had made together as a family.Looking back, this vacation was truly one of the best times of my life. Not only did we get to experience so many fun and exciting adventures, but we also got to spend quality time together and create lasting memories that we'll cherish forever.I can't wait for our next family vacation, and I hope you all get to experience something just as amazing and unforgettable with your loved ones too!篇5My Summer AdventureHi there! My name is Tommy, and I'm a 12-year-old boy who just finished seventh grade. I'm so excited to share with you the incredible adventure I had this past summer. It was one of those unforgettable experiences that will stay with me forever! It all started a few weeks after school let out for the summer break. My parents surprised me with the news that we weregoing on a family hiking trip to the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I'll be honest, at first, I wasn't too thrilled about the idea. I'd much rather spend my summer playing video games or hanging out with my friends. But my parents insisted that this trip would be a great opportunity for us to bond as a family and explore the great outdoors. After a long drive from our home in Texas, we finally arrived at our destination – a cozy little cabin nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The fresh mountain air and the stunning scenery immediately put me in a better mood. I couldn't wait to start our hiking adventure! On our first day, we decided to tackle a relatively easy trail that would take us to a scenic waterfall. The hike was challenging at times, but the breathtaking views along the way made it all worthwhile. As we approached the waterfall, the sound of rushing water grew louder, and the air became cooler and more refreshing. When we finally reached our destination, I was awestruck by the majestic waterfall cascading down the rocky cliffs. It was like something straight out of a fairytale! After a picnic lunch by the waterfall, we headed back to our cabin, tired but feeling accomplished. That night, we sat around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. Itwas one of those simple yet precious moments that brought us closer together as a family. The next few days were filled with even more exciting adventures. We went rock climbing (with proper safety gear, of course), explored a nearby cave system, and even went whitewater rafting on a nearby river. I'll never forget the adrenaline rush of paddling through the rapids or the feeling of accomplishment when we successfully navigated through some particularly challenging sections. But my favorite part of the trip had to be the night we spent camping under the stars. We hiked deep into the mountains, carrying our tents and supplies on our backs. Once we found the perfect spot, we set up our campsite and cooked our dinner over an open fire. As the sun set, the sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas of twinkling stars. I had never seen so many stars in my life!We spent the evening telling spooky stories (my dad is an expert at those) and roasting s'mores. When it was finally time to sleep, I snuggled into my sleeping bag, gazing up at the stars through the mesh of my tent. The fresh mountain air and the gentle sounds of nature lulled me into the most peaceful sleep I'd had in a long time. The next morning, we woke up to the chirping of birds and the warmth of the morning sun. After a hearty breakfast, we packed up our campsite and began the hike back to our cabin. As we made our way through the lush forests and winding trails, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. I had conquered my fears, pushed my limits, and created memories that would last a lifetime. When we finally returned home, I was exhausted but filled with a newfound appreciation for the great outdoors. This trip had taught me so much – about perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone. But most importantly, it had brought my family closer together in a way that no video game or fancy vacation could ever match. As I look back on that summer adventure, I can't help but smile. It was a reminder that sometimes the best memories are made when we least expect them. Who knows, maybe next summer we'll go on another epic adventure! But for now, I'll cherish the memories of our Rocky Mountain escapade and look forward to whatever exciting experiences lie ahead.篇6My Brilliant Ideas for Making the World a Better PlaceHello there! My name is Emma and I'm a 7th grader. I've been thinking a lot lately about how to make the world a better place. Adults are always talking about solving big problems like poverty, climate change, and war. But I think us kids can help too with our fresh ideas and optimistic perspective! Here are some of my brilliant ideas for improving things:Stop Bullying by Being NicerOne of the biggest problems I see every day at school is bullying. Some kids are just mean to others for no good reason. They call them names, leave them out, and make them feel awful about themselves. No one deserves to be treated that way!I think if everyone just tried to be nicer, bullying would go away. We could have an anti-bullying week where everyone wears colored wristbands as a reminder to be kind. The cool kids could set an example by befriending people who get picked on. And the teachers could do role-playing exercises to build our empathy skills. It's such a simple solution but it would make going to school so much better for tons of kids. A little more compassion can go a long way!Make Chores FunI don't know about you, but I really hate doing chores. Whether it's cleaning my room, taking out the trash, or folding laundry, chores are just so boring and tedious. What if we could find a way to make them...fun?Maybe scientists could invent robot maids that could dance while they vacuum and sing songs while they do dishes. Or chores could be turned into video games where you score points for making your bed perfectly or receive rewards for a clean room. Families could have chore competitions with prizes for the person who does their tasks most quickly and thoroughly. If chores weren't such a drag, I bet we'd all complain less and get them done faster. It would make our parents happy and our houses much neater. Plus, who wouldn't want a robot maid that does the Macarena while it cleans? Sign me up!Healthy Eating Restaurants for KidsDoes anyone else feel like there are never any good healthy options when you eat out? It's always greasy pizza, fatty burgers, or salty fries. Even when restaurants have salads or veggie sides, they usually don't taste very good. That's why I think we need restaurants just for kids that serve yummy nutritious foods we'd actually want to eat. They couldhave baked sweet potato fries, fruit smoothies, veggies with tasty dips, and other healthy menu items that make our taste buds happy too.The restaurants could have colorful decorations and games to keep us entertained while we eat. Maybe they could even have a healthy dessert buffet with things like frozen yogurt, fresh fruit, and bakery items sweetened with natural sugars instead of tons of syrup. It would teach us that healthy food can be just as delicious as junk food. Childhood obesity wouldn't be as huge of a problem. And we'd have so much more energy to run around and have fun! Those are just a few of my ideas for making positive changes. Ultimately, I think a lot of problems could be solved if we all just took some time to be more thoughtful of each other and came up with creative solutions.Us kids may be little, but we have big minds full of big ideas for making the world a little bit better. You should totally try some of these out and see how they work! Who knows, maybe I'll become a famous kid inventor or something someday. A girl can dream, right?。
