Beidaihe, a scenic (adj.自然景色的）spot and summer resort（n.旅游胜地）, is well-known all over the world. Its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, soft beach and easy (adj.舒缓的） tide（n.潮汐), green trees, and elegant （adj.典雅优美的）surroundings make it a first choice for travelling.
Welcome to Qinhuangdao
Qinhuangdao City is an ice-free seaport all the year round, Situated at the northeastern corner of Hebei Province, It is in proximity (n.接近） to the Bohai Bay on its south and leans on Mount Yanshan to the north. Qinhuangdao enjoys a semi-humid（半湿热的） continental（大陆性的） monsoon（n.季风) climate. It is not freezing cold in winter ,and extremely hot in summer. With an excellent geographical (adj.地理学的）position, it is the transition area （中转过 渡地带）between North China （华北）economic zone and Northeast China （东北）economic zone.

Now there are three districts and four counties in Qinhuangdao, named Haigang, Beidaihe and Shanhaiguan districts; Changli, Funing, Lulong counties; and Qinglong Manchurian(adj.满州的） Autonomous （adj.自治的）County. The Municipal（adj.市政的） People's Government is located in Haigang District.
It is not only a top tourist city in China, but also an attractive place favored by many foreign investors worldwide. Shanhaiguan enjoys a nice geographical location, long history, and rich culture with abundant natural and human culture resources. One of the seven miracles （n.奇迹）of the world, the Great Wall begins here. Some parts of the Great Wall in this area go up and down along the peaks (n.山顶）of the mountains, just like a hiding dragon and a crouching（adj.蹲伏的） tiger guarding the pass.

Qinhuangdao is famous for it tourism. As one of the Class A tourist cities in China, Qinhuangdao is rich in tourist resources and has made tourism one of its pillar（n.支柱） industries.

Qinhuangdao has a long history. The first emperor of the Qin Dynasty was once stationed here on his eastern inspection （视察检阅）tour in 215 B.C, and sent Lu Sheng of Yan State（燕国） to seek for immortal（adj.不死的，永生的） medicine from the sea. Hence（adv.从此以后地）, the place was named after him as Qinhuangdao . In May 1983, Qinhuangdao became a city under the direct jurisdiction（n.管辖） of Hebei Province. In April 1984, it was approved （v.批准）as one of the 14 coastal cities further opened to the outside world.
