The Book I like best is “Three Days to See” written by Helen Keller, an American author, political activist and lecturer. I like the book partly because of the author—the courageous and hard-working woman. She was the first deaf and blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. I like the book also because it offers us a different view on life—“to live each day as if we should die tomorrow”. It tells us to value and cherish what we have today, to appreciate the beauty of nature, to feel grateful to the warmth you’re given by friends and family, etc.

I like reading, so I love many different kinds of books very much, because they not only broaden my horizons but also give me inspiration.

Up to now I have read a lot of books, for example, magazines, novels and storybooks and so on. But one of the books that I like best is My Life Story. It was written by an American writer—Helen Keller in 1902. She was a blind, deaf and dumb person. In the book, she wrote that she had not been able to see, hear or speak since the early age. With the help of her teacher Miss Sullivan, she began to learn to speak and write.

It shows us a universal truth：“Nothing is difficult if you put your heart in to it!” This is why I like it best.

I have many hobbies, such as sports, singing, playing the violin and keeping a diary. I like sports very much. I go running at five o'clock in the morning. After classes in the afternoon, I play table-tennis with my friends. These sports have kept me healthy. At home, I like to sing and play the violin. I practice singing and playing the violin every

day. Busy as I am, I am quite happy. Of all my hobbies I like reading books best. In my bedroom there are nearly six hundred books. There are story books, textbooks, magazines, and others. All these books have enriched my knowledge.

There are a great many hobbies to choose from. Some people enjoy collecting coins or stamps; others choose to spend their time on sports or music. I have many hobbies, such as playing basketball, skating, painting and so on. Of all these hobbies, cycling is my favorite. I benefit from it a lot. In my spare time, I often do cycling to play. It is good exercise. If you go to work by riding a bicycle instead of driving or taking a bus, you can have a better chance of getting enough exercise you need every day. Cycling is also good for our environment. I love this game for it helps me maintain a mental and physical balance.

I like many different kinds of foods. But egg is my favorite. Egg contains a lot of essential nutrients needed by the human body, for example protein, and is a very good source of energy. In the second place, egg is the basic ingredient to many dishes, with which you can make different food and dishes, like cakes, omelets and French toast. In addition to those mentioned above, eggs are easy to get. You can easily find eggs at any supermarket, and they are sold for a very cheap price too.

My favorite sport is basketball because it is very exciting. I like basketball also because the NBA stars play very well. Basketball is a good sport for our health. We can grow taller if we play basketball as often as we can. Besides, it can keep us fit.

I play basketball three times a week. Most often I play it in my school. I feel very happy when I play basketball in school with my classmates. Sometimes I play basketball on the playground near my home during summer vacations. Playing basketball is not so hard as some people imagine. But many young people dream to become big stars like Michael Jordan and Yao Ming, which is rather difficult because you should, first of all, be gifted and then have a lot of practice from early age in order to become very good player.

Fishing is my favorite sport. I often fish with some of my friends on the Sand River near the city during weekends in spring, summer and autumn. This makes me happy
