Although CLL is primarily meant as a 'whole' approach to teaching ,it equally useful for an occasional lesson, by working together they overcome their fear of speaking,it's a good idea to evaluate the method.but their success is determined by the teacher's translation expertise, and there is too much reliance on an inductive strategy of learning.

社团语言学习法

Introduction
The CLL method was developed by Charles A. Curran, a professor of psychology at Loyola University in Chicago. Curran believed that a way to deal with the fears of students is for teachers to become 'language counselors'.
Cons
• It can only be done with small numbers of students. • The students have to share a single mother tongue. • The teacher has to be highly proficient in the target language and in the language of the students.
Stage 3 - Discussion
Next the students discuss how they think the conversation went. They can discuss how they felt about talking to a microphone and whether they felt more comfortable speaking aloud than they might do normally. This part is not recorded.
Pros
• Teacher-student centered : both are decision-makers • Creative thinking + self-evaluation +dynamic • The class often becomes a real community, not just when using CLL but all of the time. Students become much more aware of their peers, their strengths and weaknesses and want to work as a team.
Role
T: a counselor
S: a client dependent→independent

Definition
Community language learning (CLL) was primarily designed for monolingual conversation classes where the teacher-counselor would be able to speak the learners' L1(mother tongue). It's a method that is based on English for communication and is extremely learner-focused.
In this way they are totally involved in the analysis process. The language is completely personalised and with higher levels they can themselves decide what parts of their conversation they would like to analyse, whether it be tenses, lexis or discourse.
Stage 4 - Transcription
Next they listen to the tape and transcribe their conversation. the teacher only intervenes when they ask for help.
