英语名著阅读实践报告英文回答:English Literature Reading Practice Report. The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of my English literature reading practice and to reflect onthe progress I have made. As part of my English program, I have been assigned to read a number of classic works of English literature. These works include novels, plays, and poems, and they span a wide range of genres and time periods. At the beginning of this practice, I was a relatively inexperienced reader of English literature. I had read afew classic works in high school, but I had not developed a deep understanding of the nuances of the language or the cultural context in which these works were written. However, through my consistent reading practice, I have made significant progress in my understanding and appreciationof English literature. One of the most important things I have learned is the importance of close reading. When I first started reading these works, I tended to skim the surface, focusing on the plot and the main characters. However, I have since learned that it is essential to pay attention to the details of the text, such as the language, the imagery, and the symbolism. By doing this, I have been able to develop a much deeper understanding of the author's intent and the significance of the work.Another important thing I have learned is the value of context. In order to fully understand a work of literature, it is important to have a basic understanding of the historical and cultural context in which it was written. This can help me to understand the author's purpose, the characters' motivations, and the significance of the events that take place in the story. In addition to the above, I have also learned the importance of critical thinking and analysis. When I read awork of literature, I no longer simply accept the author's point of view. Instead, I question the author's assumptions, I challenge the characters' decisions, and I come to my own conclusions about the meaning of the work. This has helped me to develop a more critical and analytical mind, and it has also helped me to become a more engaged and active reader.Overall, I have made significant progress in my understanding and appreciation of English literature. Ihave learned the importance of close reading, context, and critical thinking. I have also developed a deeper understanding of the nuances of the English language. Through my continued reading practice, I am confident thatI will continue to grow as a reader and as a student of English literature.中文回答:英语名著阅读实践报告。

He is the greatest representative of Englishritial realism. Dikens as born in a poor famil. At the age of 12, his father as put inprison and oung Dikens as sent to ork in a fator. From27 to29, Dikens orked as a lerk in alo firm and later as a nespaper reporter. Dikens as horned b the Queen ofEngland three months before his death on June 9,10. The ords of his grave read as follos “b his death, one of England’s greatest riters is lost to the orld.”He has manmasterpiees, suh as “A tale of ities” “David Copperfield” “Hard time” “Oliver Tist”and so on. “Great Expetations”is one of his masterpiees. The stor in this book happened inmiddle of entur and it reflets the gap beteen the rih and the poor in the apitalistisoiet. The summar of the book This stor tells us about a oung man ho ished for theunrealimaginar lives, and eventuall his hope as extinguished b the real life. Pip as anunfortunate bo. His parents both died hen he as a bab. He as brought up b hiselder sister and her husband Joe Garger. Joe as kind to Pip and he also anted Pipto be a good blaksmith. But the emergene of Estella has hanged his life. He fell inlove ith Estella and he anted to be a gentleman for her. Then a msterious person ame tohelp him to realize his great expetations. At first Pip thought that it as Miss Havisham, astrange oman made plans for him. But at last, it proved that an esaped onvit ho hehad helped hen he as a little bo as his benefator. When the esaped onvit as arrestedagain, his expetations ere at an end. Finall he realized that he onl anted to be agentleman but he had ignored his old friends. He ame to the real life again eventuall. After suffering so man pains he and Estella ame together at last. M vie on this stor “Great Expetations”, I think there is an i ron inluded inthis title. It relates to some unrealisti dreams. From thisnovel, I have learnt a lot. Firstl, I pik up several lessons from Pip. One an have greatdreams, but e should ahieve our dreams b our on effortinstead of depending on other people. In this stor, Pip hadan unrealisti dream. He didn’t ant to be a poor blaksmithlike Joe. He anted to be upper lass people, to be a gentlemanand he imagined that there as someone had made a plan for him.It is true that Abel Magith helped him seretl. But hen AbelMagith as arrested, it put an end to Pip’s great expetations. He had nothing left. And in this book, Herbert and Pip form apoignant ontrast. Herbert made great efforts to realize hisdreams. In the end, his business as doing ell, and his panhad offies overseas. Therefore, e should realize that if eant to ahieve something or fulfill one of our ambitions, emust make efforts b ourselves. There is no one in the orldthat makes plans for us. And there is no short ut for suess. Seondl, I have learned from Pip’s experiene that e should begrateful to others. We kno that Pip as brought up b hissister and Joe. And Bidd as also friendl to him hen he as athome. But hen he as helped b a msterious person, he moved toLondon to learn being a gentleman. He began to be proud andlook don upon those people at home. He anted to forget hispoor life and his poor friends. But hen his “grea texpetations” ere ruined, it as still those people ho helpedhim out of trouble. Hoever, hen he began to realize it, hissister has died; it as too late to sa thanks to her. What Iant to sa is that no matter ho suessful e are, e should notbe proud; e should not forget the people ho had helped us,and return for them. If I have learned anthing about givingthanks, it is this: give it no .Don’t hesitate until it istoo late to give our thanks. Thirdl, I also learn some lessons from Miss Havisham, She isa oman full of hatred, and she lived in hatred for so manears. She brought Estella up in order to revenge on man. Ithink hat she did is not orth at all. On one hand, she as notin real happiness, although she revenged on other people. Onthe other hand, she had ruined Estella’s life. In addition, she also made other men miserable. As for as I’m onerned, ifI as Miss Havisham, I ill hoose another different kind oflife. I ill make mself live better than before to prove thatI an live better ithout that man. From her experiene, I thinke should learn to forgive, learn to give up some bad things that had happened. No matterhat had happened in the past, e should not be alas lost inthe past and e are supposed to look forard, and ontinue ourne life. There is no doubt that if she had hosen a positive a,she ill have a satisfator life. What’s more, hen it es to Estella, I ant to sa that e shouldlive our on life, and do not onl live up to others’expetations. We kno that, Estella as brought up b MissHavisham to revenge on man. She did everthing that MissHavisham told her. We an sa that she as “made” b MissHavisham, and she as proud, old. At last, folloing Misshavisham’s requirements she married to a man she didn’tlove at all. I think she lived an unhapp life. She onl did asother people told her. And she didn’t do something hat sheliked. I think this kind of life is meaningless. We shouldhave our freedom. It ourred to me that noadas, parents havehigh expetations on their hildren. The deide so man thingsfor their hildren ithout getting their hildren’s permission.I think hildren should have their hoie of life. Parentsshould not put their hildren into age. It is ise for them toset their hildren free to look for their on sk. In a ord, from this book, I have learnt ho to be mself, ho torealize m dreams and ho to live m on life.篇四:book report-The island英文小说读书报告范例《岛》Fition Write the ne voabular ords ou learned from this book. 阅读报告英文600字Reading ReportBook Title: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott FitzgeraldAuthor: F. Scott FitzgeraldSummary:"The Great Gatsby" is a classic novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1925. The story takes place in the 1920s in New York City and focuses on the life of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious and wealthy man who throws extravagant parties in his mansion in the hope of winning back his lost love, Daisy Buchanan. The novel is narrated by Nick Carraway, a young man who moves to New York to work in the bond business. He becomes Gatsby's neighbor and soon finds himself drawn into the world of wealth and excess. As Nick gets to know Gatsby better, he learns about his past and the lengths he went to in order to become rich and successful.Gatsby's love for Daisy is the driving force behind his lavish parties and his desperation to be with her. However, Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan, a wealthy but unfaithful man. Gatsby believes that he can win Daisy back by showing off his wealth and throwing extravagant parties. As the story unfolds, the characters' lives become entangled in a web of lies, deceit, and tragedy. Themes:One of the major themes of "The Great Gatsby" is the American Dream and the pursuit of wealth and success. Gatsby embodies this dream, as he rose from a poor background to become a wealthy businessman. However, the novel also examines the dark side of the American Dream, highlighting the emptiness and corruption that can come with the pursuit of wealth.Another important theme is the hollowness of the upper class and the illusion of happiness. The characters in the novel, despite their wealth and social status, are often unhappy and unfulfilled. Their lives are filled with superficiality and materialism, and they constantly search for something more. The theme of love and obsession is also explored in the novel. Gatsby's love for Daisy borders on obsession, and he is willing to do anything to win her back. The story examines the destructive power of love and the consequences of pursuing an unattainable dream.Opinion:I found "The Great Gatsby" to be a captivating and thought-provoking novel. Fitzgerald's writing style is lyrical and evocative, and he effectively captures the glamour and decadence of the 1920s. The characters are well-developed and complex, and their struggles and desires are relatable. The novel explores themes that are still relevant today, such as the pursuit of wealth and happiness, the illusion of the AmericanDream, and the destructive power of obsession. It offers a critical commentary on the hollowness and corruption of the upper class, and the emptiness that can come from a life focused solely on material possessions.Overall, "The Great Gatsby" is a timeless classic that examines the human condition and the universal desire for love, success, and happiness. It is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the complex and often contradictory nature of human desires and motivations.。

This attention to detail really brought the story to life and made it all the more captivating.Another aspect that I found intriguing was the character development. Each character had their owndistinct personality and motivations, which made them feel real and relatable. I found myself cheering for theprotagonist and despising the antagonist, as if they were actual people in my life. It was fascinating to see how their actions and decisions shaped the course of the story. The book also touched on some thought-provoking themes and issues. bookThis story tells us about a young man who wished for the unreal/imaginary lives, andeventually his hope was extinguished by the real life.Pip was an unfortunate boy.Hisparents both died when he was a baby.He was brought upby his elder sister and herhusband Joe Gargery.Joe was kind to Pip and he also wanted Pip to be a good blacksmith. But the emergence of Estella has changed his life.He fell in love with Estella and he wanted to be a gentleman for her. Then a mysterious person came to help him to realize his greatexpectations. At first Pip thought that it was Miss Havisham, a strange woman end. Finally he realized that he only wanted to be a gentleman but he had ignoredhis old friends. He came to the real life again eventually. After suffering so many pains heand Estella came together at last.My view on this story“Great Expectations”, I think there is an irony included in this title. It relates to some unrealistic dreams. From this novel, I have learnt a lot.Firstly, I pick up several lessons from Pip.One can have great dreams, but we should achieve our dreams by our own effort instead of depending on other people. In this story, Pip had an unrealistic dream. He didn’t want to be a poor blacksmith like Joe.He wanted to be upper class people, to be a gentleman and he imagined that there was someone had made a plan for him.It is true that Abel Magwitch helped him secretly. But when Abel Magwitch was arrested, it put an end to Pip’s great expectations. He had nothing left. And in this book, Herbert and Pip form a poignant contrast.Herbert made great efforts to realize his dreams. In the end, his business was doingwell, and his company had offices overseas. Therefore, we should realize that if we want to achieve something or fulfill one of our ambitions, we must make efforts by ourselves. There is no one in the world that makes plans for us.And there is no short cut for success.Secondly, I have learned from Pip’s experience that we should be grateful to others. We know that Pip was brought up by his sister and Joe.And Biddy was also friendly to him when he was at home. But when he was helped by a mysterious person, he moved to London to learn being a gentleman. He began to be proud and look down upon those people at home.He wanted to forget his poor life and his poor friends. But when h is “great expectations” were ruined, it was still those people who helped him out of trouble. However, when he began to realize it, his sister has died;it was too late to say thanks to her. What I want to say is that no matter how successful we are, we should not be proud;we should not forget the people who had helped us, and return for them.If I have learned anything about giving thanks, it is this: give it now.Don’t hesitate until it is too late to give our thanks.Thirdly, I also learn some lessons from Miss Havisham, She is a woman full of hatred, and she lived in hatred for so many years. She brought Estella up in order to revenge on man.I think what she did is not worth at all.On one hand, she was not in real happiness, although she revenged on other people. On the other hand, she had ruined Estella’s life.In addition, she also made other men miserable. As for as I’m concerned, if I was Miss Havisham, I will choose another different kind of life.I will make myself live better than before to prove that I can live better without that man. From her experience, I think we should learn to forgive, learn to give up some bad things that had happened. No matter what had happened in the past, we should not be always lost in the pastand we are supposed to look forward, and continue our new life. There is no doubt that if she had chosen a positive way, she will have a satisfactory life. What’s more, when it comes to Estella, I want to say that we should live our own life, and do not only live up to others’ expectations. We kno w that, Estella was brought up by Miss Havisham to revenge on man.She did everything that Miss Havisham told her.We can say that she was “made” by Miss Havisham, and she was proud, cold.At last, following Miss havisham’s requirements she married to a man s he didn’t love at all.I think she lived an unhappy life. She only did as other people told her.And she didn’t do something what she liked.I think this kind of life is meaningless. We should have our freedom. It occurred to me that nowadays, parents have high expectations on their children. They decide so many things for their children without getting their children’s permission.I think children should have their choice of life.Parents should not put their children into cage.It is wise for them to set their children free to look for their own sky.In a word, from this book, I have learnt how to be myself, how to realize my dreams and how to live my own life.第二篇:远大前程(英文)Great Expectations——远大前程In thistterm , I read a book called 《 Great Expectations》, it was written by Charles Dickens, one of the most famous English writers. He wrote lots of wonderful novels. This book is one of his compositions.People always like to compare with their friends. It is a big foible of all the people. If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich.If all the people around us are poor , we never mind that we are very poor, too.we will not ashamed because of our folly. This is a social problem. If we never possessanything, we will not mind we lost some thing.Since we don’t want to be very rich ,we will not feel despond because poor. The protagonist of this novel is Pip(Handel). His parents died when he was a baby. His sister had brought him up ‘by hand’.His sister married to Joe Gargery, the village blacksmith. They didn’t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study. But he was often very happy.Because all of his friends are like him.It isn’t very unfortunate to them, this is their lives. But by a chance, Pip helped a convict;he gave much food to him. Then he met Miss Havisham, a very strange old woman and she was very rich.Four years later, Miss Havisham wants Pip to be removed from his home and educated as a gentleman who expects inherit a fortune when he grow up.After hearing that.Pip started to despise his poor friends. He even feel ashamed because he live with the poor man.Pip’s ‘great expectations’ destroyed his life. This novel told us that we cannot compare with others.Don’t feel envy at the others money. And if one day you be very rich , please don’t despise your poor fr iends.第三篇:远大前程英文读后感远大前程英文读后感一:Great Expectations“Great expectations” is one of Dicken’s most maturest works. After Dicken had experienced large part of meaningful life, he had a deeper cognition for people, environment, as well as the life which he had gone through. And all the mature cognitions are included in this writing---Great expectations.pip was brought up by his sister who was unpleasant as well as crude and her friendly blacksmith husband—Joe.Joe himself had arranged a common hard but satisfied path for pip to go through, and on the other hand, pip beheld this as his highest goal to achieve. But the two things which he had experienced later had changed hispursue and his fate as well.Met Abel Magwith(an escaped convict)in the swamp, and unwillingly helped him out of danger by stealing food from his own home.If say that had changed his attitude for material life, then, his introduction to Miss Havisham, an aging woman who had been jilted at the alter and Estella who had been brought up by Havisham only to revenge for her own pain had brought vast shock for his world of spirit.Aspiring to be a gentleman despite his humble born, pip fortunately or unfortunately received a fund of wealth from an unknown source and being sent to London with a lawyer. From then on, he became a gentleman without question at the price of losing everything. The title of this book is ‘Great expectations” which make an impression on us that the character would have great expectations just as the title goes. But in fact this title has a tone of sarcastic on the other way around. This story full of quirkiness from the very beginning to the end, the relations among characters are anfractuous as well which actually attracted me a lot.One of the paragraphs, which I appreciate most implicatively as well as beautifully expresses the feeling between pip and Estella.“We are friends,” said I, rising and bending over her, as she rose from the bench.‘And will continue friends apart.” Said Estella.I took his hand in mine, and we went out of the ruined place;and, as the morning mists had risen long ago when I first let the forge, so, the evening mists were rising now, and in all the broad expanse of tranquil light they showed to me, I saw no shadow of another parting from her.At the view of language, this works had achieved a step o f highest, Dicken had made this writing plain and fluent as well, which surely can attract lots of readers and high comments. To be frank, I really impressed by this art of beauty. So I like Dicken’s works very much.远大前程英文读后感二:To be simpleAfter reading the whole book of “Great Expectations” written by Charles Dickens, I can’t find suitable words to express my thoughts completely.First of all, I am attracted by the excellent literary talent of Charles Dickens. The descriptions of the details are just right for the foundation of the background. The design of the story also brings me shock. To me, it is not only a good story, but also a lesson of the life that I am experiencing. But, what I have learnt from the book is not the main idea that Charles Dickens wanted to show. What impresses me deeply is only a supporting role —pared with the life of pip, what Joe has experienced is so ordinary. He is an ordinary blacksmith, an ordinary husband, an ordinary brother, an ordinary friend, even an ordinary person! However, just such an ordinary person brings me a great special feeling. In his world, life is so simple. He is far away from the complex world which is polluted by the ugly soul of people.May be, “kind-hearted” is the biggest adv antage of him, which is also the biggest shortage of him in his daily life.Different from all the other figures in the book, Joe’s life is so simple and his thoughts also stay pure after he experiences whatever sufferings that life gives him.In my opinion, his childhood is miserable. What he has experienced must be unhappy and sorrowful. He grows up in such a family, meets so much violence(May be, in that period, it is common)。

英文名著读书报告(五篇材料)第一篇:英文名著读书报告1.简爱Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of《英文读书报告》文章《英文读书报告》正文开始>>1.简爱Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings.I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill.To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end.One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs.Maylie and Rose and began a new life.He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness.I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty.Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person.Goodness is to humans what water is to fish.He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person.People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted.As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.2.双城记After reading “A tale of two cities”“A tale of two one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully. The novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. The senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up.Afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like this to give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already. When I read “ the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place...” When, I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance.Again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. We will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal. When I read “ the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmostthrows to its heart, one wail ended the big fish's life, it was static static floats on the water surface...” When, my heart also liked together the big stone falls.I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above.Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. We also must study senior fisherman's spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully. Was reading the big fish's smell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food, old person's left hand happen to in the convulsions, he only could use the right hand, with wooden stick, the mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weapon self-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. But the big fish's meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand “ this work time actually was resting ” time, I also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. In the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating. Finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot long big marlin in the measure, once more described this fish's hugeness, explained senior fisherman overcomes the difficulty was big, non-was more common than. The novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous diligently did not struggle, we also should like his such, could not satisfy the present situation, should positively to above, do any matter all is relentless, meets difficultly must welcome difficultly above, could give up halfway in no way.Only has this, we only then can obtain a bigger success and the victory.4.雾都孤儿To Regain the 金银岛读书报告英文篇一:金银岛英文原版小说阅读报告文字版1. Why Choice to Read Treasure Island?Treasure Island is one of Robert Louis Stevenson’sbest-selling novels. It has a very large impact on future generation. Though, Treasure Island has been made into films and TV several times in Hollywood, it is still very popular. So to say that, if Chinese kid is looking at Journey to the West grew up, and then American kid is looking at Treasure Island grew up.In a conclusion, Treasure Island can be regarded as the best ever to read pirate novel.2. About AuthorRobert Louis Stevenson was an English poet and writer who was born in Edinburgh Scotland in 1850. In 1878 and 1879, he published two works of the theme of travel, since then he continued to publish works. In 1883, he published Treasure Island. The story was praised as The Best Work of Children’sAdventure Story as soon as the work was published. Since then Stevenson had became a famous writer. His health condition was very bad and he died suddenly in 1894.Stevenson had a lot of works, such as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, A Child’s Garden of Verses and New Arabian Nights.3. SummaryIn the eighteenth century, British sailor boy Jim got the legendary map of Treasure Island from dying Bill. In support of the local squire, they organized a team of expedition went to Treasure Island. The pirate leader Silver boarded the ship acted as a cook and his a group of men also acted as sailors on board. On the Treasure Island, Silver and his men occupied the ship by launching rebellion. The sailor boy Jim saved the good men three times. Later Silver conflicted with the other pirates and decided to cooperate with doctor and Ben to deal with the other pirates. Finally, the good men gained the treasure.4. Treasure Island Impressions and CommentsAfter reading this story of adventure, I have mixed feelings. The main character Jim originally was a timid and shyboy, however, Jim has obviously become a little hero after going through this adventure. As a kid, he saved the good persons three times, which showing Jim’s amazing resourcefulness and courage.Though Jim is a kid, his courage and loyalty is admirable. Even though in face of the ferocious pirates, he can admit that what he had done, and he adhered to stand his ground that would rather die than cahoots with the pirates. In addition, it is also admirable that Jim kept his words. When Jim and the doctor had a conversation, Jim could run away. But Jim didn’t do it, because he had sworn to the pirate Silver. He gave up the chance to escape. I guess even the adult cannot do this in order to keep his words. It can be said that Jim is a real man.In addition to the surprising and exciting plot of the novel, its central idea is worth thinking. The real intention of the novel tells us the love of humanity and justice often over evil. The main character Jim is the representative of justice, and finally he won, while the pirate Silver who is the representative of evil finally was spurned by people. Besides, I can feel the money has a great temptation to human. In the novel money actually hadchanged the feelings between people, corroded the world and everything. Of course, money itself is innocent, but the material and greedy heart that drives people pursue the money by all bad means.Gentleman’s love of money in a proper way, we should hold a right attitude to money. We need to know that bland pursuit of money finally become vain and greed and the desire will never bring a better life.篇二:金银岛读书报告2021.6.24On Treasure IslandLiCaiyun, Class 4, 2021English department, Foreign Languages SchoolI.IntroductionRobert Louis Stevenson was a British novelist, poet, travel writer and essayist. Andsince then he never stopped his writing. In 1879, he went to United States and married Fanny Osborne who was ten years older than him. The mild climate there was beneficial to his health undoubtedly. In 1880, he returned to Scotland. He began to design the story, Treasure Island for his son and later it was published in 1883. What’s more, this book was regarded as the best works of children’s adventure story. And Stevenson has also become a famous writer.Due to the health problem, he and his family had to move to the Pacific island. In 1894, Stevenson died suddenly. In the 19th century, England was famous for her seafaring and was remarked as the sea overlord. At that time, many people dreamed about finding treasure at sea.Stevenson has been greatly admired by many authors, including Ernest Hemingway, Rudyard Kipling, Vladimir Nabokov and J. M. Barrie. His best-known books include Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. A literary celebrity during his lifetime, Stevenson nowranks among the 26 most translated authors in the world. The book, Treasure Island was translated into many languages and has been adapted for film, television for many times. It has very far-reaching impact.II. The Story of the BookJim Hawkins was a ten year old boy. He lived in the inn named Admiral Benbow with his parents. One day, an old pirate, Flint came to the tavern. And the whole story began.Flint was the leader of the pirates. He leaded them gathering manytreasures and they put the treasure on the Treasure Island. But only Flint knew the place exactly. And he recorded everything in his map. This map was locked in his chest and nobody had seen it. Flint’s followers were thirsty for the map that recorded the treasures’place. So they kept finding Flint all the time and did everything possible to get the map. Eventually Jim got the map with the price that his family was broken. For getting the help from others, Jim gave DrLivesey, who was the magistrate of the town, the map. And there was another person who knew the accident. He was the squire Trelawney. Trelawney and DrLivesey decided to go to seaand find the treasure. After about one month, the squire employed one captain Smollett, one cook, Silver and many sailors. So they began their voyage soon. At the beginning, everything went very well except for the captain Smollett’s dissatisfaction. The captain thought that the squire didn’t arrange the job distribution well and the members on the board was not well known each other. The behavior that the captain did not mince matters caused the others’abominate for him, especially the squire. But in the end, the squire listened the advice of the captain. The cook, Silver, was kind to everyone and full of energy. Although he was a cripple, he could move as a normal person even better than a normal person. He had been the cook on the Flint’s boat. And he was very popular in the Hispaniola. But in fact, Silver was very cunning. One night, Jim jumped into the barrel to eating apples. By chance, he heard that Silver wanted to persuade the other sailors to join his plan, betraying the others. Later, Jim Hawkins succeeded in fleeing the barrel and told what he heard to the DrLivesey and the squire. This finding made them have the mental preparation for what wouldhappen in the next. When the Hispaniolaarrived at the Treasure Island, Jim tailed with other pirate land the island without the Silver’s permission. On the island he saw the conflict between Silver and the honest pirate and the massacre. Because of the horror, he was afraid to come back to the Hispaniola, so he kept going forward. And to his surprise he met a person who lived in the Treasure Island for three years alone. The man called Ben Guna. After going through sufferings, Jim brought Ben back to his group. Later, Jim steered the coracle lonely, leaving the wounded captain and the other members. Luckily, he succeeded in finding the Hispaniola and steered her into the sand beach where was safe. And then Jim came back to the block-house, where they hided themselves. But beyond his expectation, the block-house had been occupied by Silver. Then Jim was captured by them. The other pirates wanted to kill Jim except Silver. At last, Silver succeeded convince others to keep Jim alive. What’smore,Silverand Jim reached an agreement that Silver saved Jim’s life and Jim should give him a way to live if they came back tothe Hispaniolasafely. Afterwards, they were lucky enough to escape the dangerous condition. But a leopard cannot change his spots. On the way they came back to home, Silver escaped with lots of treasure. But the other people all thought it’s better for him and themselves.III. My Views on the BookTreasure Island’s success relies not only on the plot but also the depiction of the characters. For example, in the very beginning the description to the captain, “his tarry pigtail falling over the shoulders of his soiled blue coat, his hands ragged and scarred, with black, broken nails; and the sabre cut across one cheek, a dirty, livid white.”This can easily lead people thinking of a murderous pirate.Secondly, although this novel’s name was Treasure Island, what it wanted to pass on was not the gold and silver. What it really wanted to transmit was the love of the humanity and justice. Among the group of combative pirates, Jim was on the contrary. He was friendly to people and he could distinguish the good from the bad. His witty and brave was inspired in the conflict of the seizing treasures. Finally, they won the game. Theopposite of Jim was Silver. He was also a distinctive character. And we can also say that he was a man with courage and plans. However, the way he chose was a way full of sins, so eventually he was cast aside by people.Thirdly, we can feel the seduce of the money through reading this novel. The direness for money can change the attachment between people. It can cause the dog-eat-dog. But in reality, the money is innocent. What makes the money terrible is the human’s desires. In a word, we should treat money rationally. Only in this way can money become the most useful items.篇三:金银岛读书报告The Treasure Island“Treasure Island”, written by Robert Louis Stevenson, is one of the adventurous, legendary, classical, literary and bilingual series, which consists of “Treasure Island”, “King Solomon’s Mines”, “Champions Childhood”, “Dead Poets Society”and “The Moonstone”. The story happens when pirates are prevalent and fashionable. If you have a gun and have gone to sea, you deserve to be called a pirate. I think thecause of the story should attribute the success to the great sea-chest turning up afterward in the story. The hero and first person of the story is still a little child when it happens. One day, a brown old seaman, with a sabre cut on his face, takes up his lodging under the hero’s father’s roof, which combines the child’s fate with pirates and the treasure. The child gets the precious map of the treasure, after the old seaman’s death. With that map, he makes friends with several gentlemen and magistrates of the town, and then comes along with them, starting the exploring voyage of the great treasure. Since there is a great treasure under discovery and most of the sailors are greedy pirates, a mutiny seems to be destined to happen. However, it turns out to be what it should be. So an insidious match takes place between two parts, one is leaded bythe magistrates, and the other is in favor of the tall John, a one-leg seaman. At the beginning of the voyage, the hero, Jim, is still a childish little boy. But as it’s going on, he gradually becomes carefully, cautious and brainy. He realizes what he deals with is not childhood playmates, not his familiarneighbors, but cruel and tricky pirates. Only he performs strong and useful can he not be bullied, not be killed. Under the brave performances of Jim and the perfect strategies of the magistrate, the riot ends up with the victory of justice, and everyone gets what he deserves to get.I have to admit that the plots of the history are fascinating and unexpected. It looks like a rock road, and you never know what are waiting for you in the next fork. When I’m reading the book, I feel I’m enjoying a big and delicious dinner. There is always something preventing my eyes away from the word between the lines. From the hero, I know fear is useless, although it often appears in our life, and you will never know what the God has stored for you, maybe some good things or not so bad results, unless you have a try. Sometimes, what really matters is not what the result looks like, but the knowledge we can learn from the valued experiences we survive.。

英语名著阅读实践报告English: Through reading classic English literary works, such as "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen and "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens, I have gained a deeper understanding of the social and cultural norms of the time period in which they were written. "Pride and Prejudice" allowed me to delve into the intricacies of the British upper class society in the early 19th century, examining issues such as courtship, marriage, and class distinctions. On the other hand, "Great Expectations" provided me with insights into the harsh realities of 19th-century London, exploring themes of poverty, ambition, and redemption. Both novels also highlighted the importance of character development and personal growth, as well as the complexity of human relationships. Overall, reading these English literary classics has not only improved my language skills, but also broadened my perspective on historical, cultural, and societal aspects of the time period they depict.中文翻译: 通过阅读经典的英文文学作品,比如简·奥斯汀的《傲慢与偏见》和查尔斯·狄更斯的《远大前程》,我对这些作品所描绘的时代社会和文化规范有了更深入的理解。

Scott Fitzgerald, is a classic American novel that is often included in highschool and college literature curriculums. Set in the 1920s, the story follows the lives of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious and wealthy man, and his love interest, Daisy Buchanan, as well as Daisy's husband, Tom. The novel explores themes of love, wealth, and the American Dream, and is known for its vivid portrayal of the Jazz Age. In this reading report, I will discuss the characters, themes, and my personal reflections on the novel.Characters:The characters in The Great Gatsby are complex andmulti-dimensional, each with their own flaws and desires. Jay Gatsby, the enigmatic protagonist, is driven by hislove for Daisy and his pursuit of wealth. His mysteriousbackground and lavish parties make him a fascinating and tragic figure. Daisy Buchanan, on the other hand, is portrayed as a beautiful and shallow woman who is torn between her feelings for Gatsby and her loyalty to her husband, Tom. Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband, is a wealthy and arrogant man who represents the old money elite. The supporting characters, such as Nick Carraway and Jordan Baker, also add depth to the story with their own struggles and motivations.Themes:One of the central themes of The Great Gatsby is the American Dream and its corrupting influence. Gatsby's relentless pursuit of wealth and status, in order to win back Daisy's love, ultimately leads to his downfall. The novel also explores the emptiness of materialism and the disillusionment that comes with the realization that the American Dream is unattainable for many. The theme of love and longing is also prominent, as Gatsby's unrequited love for Daisy drives much of the plot. Additionally, the novel delves into the idea of the past and how it shapes thepresent, as Gatsby is unable to let go of his romanticized vision of his past with Daisy.Personal Reflections:Reading The Great Gatsby was a captivating experience that transported me to the glamorous and tumultuous worldof 1920s America. The vivid descriptions of Gatsby's extravagant parties and the opulent lifestyle of the characters provided a fascinating glimpse into the Jazz Age. The complex relationships and inner turmoil of the characters made the story both compelling and tragic. I found myself empathizing with Gatsby's yearning for loveand acceptance, while also feeling frustrated by the superficiality of the characters' pursuits. The novel's exploration of the darker side of the American Dream left me with a sense of introspection and a deeper understanding of the complexities of human desires and aspirations. In conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a timeless work of literature that continues to resonate with readers due toits richly drawn characters and thought-provoking themes. 英语阅读名著的报告作文Title: The Significance of Reading Classic Literature:A Report。
In an era dominated by technological advancements and rapidly changing trends, the value of classic literature often gets overshadowed. However, delving into the pages of renowned literary works offers more than just entertainment; it provides insights into human nature, societal norms, and the essence of timeless themes. This report aims to explore the significance of reading classic literature, drawing inspiration from various sources and shedding light on its enduring relevance.Classic literature encompasses a wide array of works spanning different genres, time periods, and cultural backgrounds. From the epic poems of Homer to the philosophical musings of Plato, from the romantic tales of Jane Austen to the existential ponderings of Fyodor Dostoevsky, these texts have stood the test of time, captivating readers across generations. One of the primary reasons for their enduring appeal lies in their ability to transcend temporal and cultural boundaries, offering universal truths that resonate with readers from diverse backgrounds. One of the foremost benefits of reading classic literature is its capacity to foster empathy and understanding. Through the experiences of characters navigating love, loss, ambition, and adversity, readers gain insight into the complexities of the human condition. For instance, in Charlotte Brontë's "Jane Eyre," readers empathize with Jane's struggles for independence and self-respect in a society that seeks to confine her to predefined roles. Similarly, in Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," readers confront issues of race, identity, and morality through the eyes of a young boy navigating the racially divided landscape of the antebellum South. Moreover, classic literature serves as a repository of cultural heritage, preserving the values, traditions, andhistorical contexts of bygone eras. By immersing oneself in the works of Shakespeare, Dickens, or Austen, readers gain insights into the social, political, and economic realities of different time periods. For example, Charles Dickens' novels provide a vivid depiction of Victorian England, exposing the harsh realities of poverty, inequality, and industrialization. Similarly, the works of Shakespeareoffer timeless reflections on power, ambition, and the human psyche, transcending their Elizabethan origins to resonate with contemporary audiences.Furthermore, reading classic literature enhancescritical thinking skills and fosters intellectual curiosity. Analyzing complex narratives, deciphering symbolism, and interpreting themes require readers to engage actively with the text, challenging their cognitive faculties and expanding their analytical abilities. For instance, unraveling the allegorical layers of Dante's "Divine Comedy" or deciphering the philosophical underpinnings of Nietzsche's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" necessitates a deep understanding of literary, historical, and philosophical contexts.Additionally, classic literature offers a counterbalance to the fleeting nature of modern culture, providing a sense of continuity and permanence in an ever-changing world. While contemporary bestsellers may capture the zeitgeist of the moment, classic works endure precisely because they speak to timeless truths and enduring themes that transcend the ephemeral trends of popular culture. As Neil Gaiman aptly remarked, "Books are the way that we communicate with the dead. The way that we learn lessons from those who are no longer with us, that humanity hasbuilt on itself, progressed, made knowledge incremental rather than something that has to be relearned, over and over."Despite the numerous benefits of reading classic literature, it is essential to acknowledge thataccessibility and inclusivity remain significant challenges. The canonical status accorded to certain texts oftenreflects entrenched biases and exclusionary practices that marginalize voices from underrepresented communities.Efforts to diversify the literary canon and amplifymarginalized voices are crucial for fostering a more inclusive literary landscape that reflects the richness and diversity of human experiences. In conclusion, the significance of reading classic literature extends far beyond mere entertainment; it offers a window into the human soul, a bridge to the past, and a compass for navigating the complexities of the present. 英文阅读报告As an avid reader of English literature, I have always found great joy in immersing myself in the world of words and stories. In this English reading report, I will share with you my thoughts and reflections on some of the most influential and impactful books that I have had the pleasure of reading. To begin with, "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is a timeless classic that has left a lasting impression on me. The novel explores themes of racial injustice, moral growth, and the loss of innocence, all through the eyes of a young girl named Scout Finch. Through the vivid and compelling storytelling, Lee masterfully captures the essence of human nature and the complexities of society. The book has not only deepened my understanding of social issues but also left me with a sense of empathy and compassion for others.Moving on, "1984" by George Orwell is a dystopian novel that continues to resonate with readers today. Set in a totalitarian society, the novel delves into the dangers of government surveillance, propaganda, and the manipulation of truth. Orwell's bleak and haunting portrayal of a world dominated by oppression and control serves as a stark warning about the potential consequences of unchecked power. The book has made me more aware of the importance of safeguarding individual freedoms and standing up against tyranny. In addition, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen is a timeless love story that has captivated readers for centuries. Set in the Regency era, the novel follows the spirited Elizabeth Bennet as she navigates the complexities of love, class, and societal expectations. Austen's sharp wit and keen observations of human nature are evident throughout the book, making it a delightful and insightful read. The novel has not only entertained me but also provided me with valuable insights into the social norms and gender dynamics of the time.Furthermore, "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a poignant portrayal of the American Dream and the disillusionment that often accompanies it. Through theenigmatic figure of Jay Gatsby, the novel explores themes of love, wealth, and the pursuit of happiness. Fitzgerald's lyrical prose and vivid imagery have left a profound impact on me, prompting me to reflect on the fleeting nature of success and the emptiness of materialism. In conclusion, the books mentioned above have enriched my life in countless ways, broadening my perspectives and deepening my appreciation for the power of literature. Each of these works has left an indelible mark on me, shaping my thoughts and beliefs in profound ways. I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced the beauty and significance of these literary masterpieces, and I look forward to continuing my exploration of the rich and diverse world of English literature.。

Gatsby is determined to win Daisy back, and he goes to great lengths to impress her and show her hiswealth and success. One of the most compelling aspects of the novel is Fitzgerald's writing style. His prose is lyrical and poetic, and he has a keen eye for detail. The descriptions ofGatsby's parties and the opulence of the 1920s are vividand evocative, and the novel is a rich and immersivereading experience. This novel was written by the distinguished French writer Alexandre Dumas Pere, the pioneer of the Romanticism Literature Movement in France. He was so popular that his works had been translated into several languages and welcomed by readers all over the world. This novel took 17th century Dutch bourgeois revolutionary period of intense political struggle and the turbulent life as its background. This gist of the story is as follows. The leading role Cornelius is a young doctor who completely doesn’t inquire about politics. He loves growing tulips and is trying to cultivate a black tulip without any other color on it at all. In order to obtain the considerable bonus offered by the government to the first man who cultivates the very kind of black tulip, Boxtel, Cornelius’neighbor, tries to destroy and steal the bulbs of Cornelius, even kill him. Fortunately, Cornelius in the prison gets acquainted with the prison-keeper’s daughter Rosa and they fall in love. Under Rosa’s help, Cornelius realized his dream and achieves happiness at last. It’s firmly believed by some people that when you become rich and successful, happiness will naturally follow. After reading this novel, I believe that nothing is further from the truth. To my mind, the secret to happiness lies in yoursuccessful work, in your contribution towards others’happiness and in your wealth you have earned through your own honest efforts.Firstly, in order to obtain happiness, you should achieve your successful work, in order to achieve your successful work, you should go through thick and thin. As the writer said, “those who have suffered much, have a right to be happy.” Take the two leading characters for example. They eventually reach happiness after suffering a lot both psychologically and physiologically. Secondly, your happiness should live in your contribution towards others’happiness, but not on the contrary, in destroying others’ happiness. If you get your happiness by taking advantage of others or by hurting others, you won’t be happy with it for long, at least, you won’t enjoy the real happiness. People will think you’re a mean person. Boxtel was a typical case. He would never gain happiness.Thirdly, wealth obtained through dishonest means doesn’t bring happiness. Happiness is not an end, it is a process. It’s a continuous process of honest and productive work which makes a real contribution to others and makes you feel you are a useful and worthy person.英语读书报告篇二Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature ofgoodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.英语读书报告篇三The lousy driftage of strand of record 》I like to read the adventure novel specially, among them leaving for me impressive would be 《 the lousy driftage of strand of record 》。
英语阅读名著的报告作文
英语阅读名著的报告作文英文:I recently finished reading the classic novel "Prideand Prejudice" by Jane Austen, and it was truly acaptivating and thought-provoking experience. The novel is set in the early 19th century and revolves around the lives of the Bennet sisters, particularly the protagonist Elizabeth Bennet, as they navigate love, marriage, andsocial status in Regency-era England. The character development in "Pride and Prejudice" is truly remarkable. Each character is so vividly portrayedthat it feels like they could be real people. For example, Mr. Darcy initially comes across as arrogant and aloof, but as the story progresses, we see his true nature and the reasons behind his behavior. This complexity in character portrayal is what makes the novel so engaging and relatable. The themes of class, marriage, and morality are alsowoven into the narrative in a way that feels both timeless and relevant. The societal pressures faced by the characters, particularly the women, are still echoed in today's world, making the novel's message enduring and impactful. One of the aspects of the novel that I found particularly intriguing is the subtle humor and wit in Austen's writing. The way she satirizes the societal norms and the behavior of the characters adds a layer of depth and enjoyment to the story. It's like reading between the lines and discovering hidden meanings in the interactions between the characters. In conclusion, "Pride and Prejudice" is a timeless masterpiece that continues to resonate with readers across generations. The rich character development, timeless themes, and Austen's skillful storytelling make it a must-read for anyone who appreciates classic literature.中文:最近我读完了简·奥斯汀的经典小说《傲慢与偏见》,这是一次真正引人入胜且发人深省的阅读体验。
