Ladies and gentlemen,It is an honor to stand before you today to talk aboutone of the most inspiring moments in human history – the Olympic Games. From its inception in ancient Greece to its modern-day iteration, the Games have always represented the pinnacle of human achievement, where athletes from all overthe world come together to compete against one another in the spirit of friendship, cooperation, and fair play. And yet, while we celebrate the accomplishments of these athletes, we should also acknowledge the many challenges they face in their pursuit of excellence. From injuries and setbacks to the intense pressure of competition, everyathlete who has ever participated in the Games has faced obstacles that would have seemed insurmountable to most of us.But it is precisely in the face of these challenges that the Olympic spirit shines through. It is a spirit that demands courage, perseverance, and resilience, and it is a spirit that has inspired generations of athletes to pushthemselves beyond their limits, to strive for greatness, and to embody the very best of what it means to be human. So today, I want to share with you a few excerpts from some of the most inspiring moments in Olympic history –moments that capture the essence of this spirit and that remind us why the Games continue to inspire us to this day.First, let us go back to the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where American high jumper Dick Fosbury had just revolutionized his event with a new technique that became known as the Fosbury Flop. In a field of fierce competitors, Fosbury found himself up against an athlete from the Soviet Union named Valentin Gavrilov. It was a tense moment, with the bar set at a staggering 2.24 meters – a height that no one had ever cleared before. But then, something incredible happened. Fosbury soared over the bar with a grace and athleticism that left the crowd breathless. And as he landed on the mat, he looked up at his opponent and said, "You better do your best, because I'm going to do mine."Gavrilov tried his best, but he could not match Fosbury's effort. And when the American cleared the bar at 2.24 meters, he secured not only a gold medal but also a place in sports history. His innovation had not only changed his own sport but had also inspired generations of athletes to think creatively and to push the boundaries of what was thought possible. But Fosbury's story is only one of many examples of the Olympic spirit in action. Let us now turn to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, where the US men's ice hockey team faced off against the Soviet Union – a team that was widely considered to be unbeatable, having dominated the sport for years.Despite the odds against them, the US team refused to be intimidated. They played with a fire and a determination that stunned their opponents and electrified the crowd. And as the game wore on, it became clear that this was no fluke – the American team was every bit as skilled, every bit as passionate, and every bit as deserving of victory as their opponents. In the end, the US team emerged victorious, winning oneof the most memorable upsets in sports history. And as they celebrated their triumph, they embodied the very spirit ofthe Olympic Games – a spirit that says that anything is possible, that no challenge is too great, and that victory is within the reach of anyone who is willing to work hard enough and to believe in themselves. Finally, let us fast forward to the 2016 Summer Olympicsin Rio de Janeiro, where we witnessed one of the most heartwarming moments in Olympic history. It was the moment when New Zealand runner Nikki Hamblin stumbled and fellduring a race, taking out American runner Abbey D'Agostinowith her.Rather than just getting up and continuing the race,D'Agostino did something remarkable – she helped Hamblin to her feet and urged her to keep going. Despite her owninjuries, D'Agostino refused to give up and continued on alongside her new ally, encouraging her every step of the way.In the end, the two runners finished the race – far behind the other competitors but having accomplishedsomething far more important. They had shown the Olympicspirit – a spirit of compassion, of sportsmanship, and of a deep respect for one's fellow competitors. These moments – the triumphs, the upsets, and the actsof kindness – are what make the Olympic Games so special. They remind us that sport is not just about winning andlosing but about the human spirit – a spirit that has the power to inspire us all to be better, to strive for greatness, and to believe in ourselves and each other. So as the world comes together once again for the Olympic Games, let us remember these moments, let us celebrate these athletes, and let us be inspired once again by the boundless potential of the human spirit. Thank you.。

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests and invitees, it is an honor and privilege for me to stand before you and speak about a subject that is very dear to my heart. I have been asked to speak about the heroic struggle of the Chinese people during the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008. This is a topic that is worth reflecting upon because it cannot be denied that the Beijing Olympics were a turning point in the history of China's sporting achievements and in China's relation with the rest of the world. The 2008 Beijing Olympics were not just an opportunity for the world to witness China's sporting prowess, but it was also an opportunity for the Chinese people to showcase their tenacity and resilience. As we all know, the Beijing Olympics was an event that was almost a century in the making. China had first made bids for Olympic participation in 1932, but it was not until July 2001 that the International Olympic Committee awarded the Games to Beijing. For China, winning the games was more than just about hosting an international sporting event. It was about proving to the world that it was a major player on the international stage. It was about showing the world thatChina was capable of hosting an event of this magnitude and that it was ready to take its place as a global superpower. To achieve this, the Chinese people had to overcome many obstacles. Firstly, there were concerns about China's lack of experience in hosting such an event. However, the Chinese government was determined to make the games a success and embarked on an ambitious program of infrastructure development. This included the construction of state-of-the-art sporting facilities, transportation networks, and accommodation facilities. The Chinese people showed their determination by working long hours and sacrificing their leisure time to help with the construction.Secondly, there was the issue of security. In the lead-up to the Olympics, many terrorist threats were made, and there were fears that the games could be targeted. The Chinese government responded by mounting one of the most extensive security operations in Olympic history. Measures included the deployment of around 100,000 security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, and anti-terrorism experts. Despite these challenges, the Chinese people remained undaunted and resolute in their determination to ensure the games were a success.Thirdly, there were concerns about China's human rights records, especially regarding the treatment of Tibetans and other minority populations. The Chinese government was criticized by human rights campaigners for cracking down on dissent, censorship, and restrictions on free speech. However, the Chinese people showed their commitment to proving the critics wrong by hosting the most open and transparentOlympic games in history. The Chinese people displayed remarkable bravery and resilience during the games. This was most evident in the way they coped with the challenges of the games' opening ceremony. The ceremony was a showcase of Chinese culture and history, and it was watched by an estimated four billion people worldwide. Despite huge pressure and expectations, theChinese performers and organizers pulled off a seamless and awe-inspiring event.Another example of the Chinese people's bravery and dedication was seen in the performance of the Chinese athletes. The Chinese athletes won an incredible 51 gold medals, more than any other country in the games. This was an outstanding achievement considering that China had neverbefore won more than 32 gold medals in any single Olympics. The Chinese athletes showed that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, anything is possible. In conclusion, the Beijing Olympics was a historic moment not just for China but for the world. It was a moment when China showed its true face to the world. The Beijing Olympics was a moment when the Chinese people demonstrated their courage, resilience, and determination in the face of adversity. It was a moment when the Chinese people showedthat despite all the challenges and obstacles, they will never lose sight of their goal. The Beijing Olympics was a moment when the world witnessed China's emergence as a global superpower. It was a moment that will forever be etched in the annals of Chinese history.。

Let us all compete well and enjoy the spirit of the Olympic Games.Thank you, and let the Games begin! The Olympic Games have a rich history that stretches back over 2,700 years to ancient Greece. The ancient Olympics were not only a celebration of athleticism but also a religious festival honoring Zeus, the king of the gods. The games were held in Olympia, a sacred site where athletes from various city-states would gather to compete in a series of events, including running, jumping, throwing, and wrestling. In addition to the physical contests, the ancient Olympics also featured cultural and artistic competitions, highlighting the importance of all forms of human expression. Poets, musicians, and artists would showcase their talents, further emphasizing the belief that the pursuit of excellence extended beyond the realm of sport. The spirit of the ancient Olympics lives on in the modern Games, which were revived in 1896 by Pierre de Coubertin. Coubertin envisioned the Olympics as a way to promote peace, understanding, and friendship among nations. He believed that through athletic competition, individuals from different backgrounds and cultures could come together in harmony and create bridges of understanding.Since the revival of the Olympics, the world has witnessed many extraordinary moments of unity and triumph. From Jesse Owens defying Hitler's notions of racial superiority in 1936 to Muhammad Ali's iconic stand against racial inequality and the Vietnam War,the Olympics have provided a stage for athletes to make powerful statements and inspire change. The Olympic Games have also played a significant role in breaking down barriers for women in sports. In the early days of the modern Games, female participation was limited, but over the years, women have fought for their rightful place on the Olympic stage. Today, female athletes excel in a wide range of sports, and the Games continue to be a catalyst for gender equality and empowerment. The Olympic Games have evolved and adapted to the changing times. They have embraced new sports and disciplines, such as snowboarding and BMX biking, broadening the appeal and bringing the games to new audiences. The Paralympic Games, which were first held in 1960, provide an important platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their abilities and challenge societal perceptions of disability. But the Olympics are not immune to controversy and challenges. The games have often been a stage for political tensions and conflicts. From the terrorist attack at the Munich Olympics in 1972 to boycotts and protests against various host countries, the Olympics have experienced setbacks and faced criticism. However, through it all, the enduring message of the Olympics prevails. The games symbolize hope, inspiration, and the triumph of the human spirit. They showcase the remarkable achievementsof individuals and remind us of our capacity to overcome adversity. As we gather today to celebrate the Olympic Games, it is important to remember that the spirit of the Olympics does not end with the closing ceremony. The values of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect should guide us in our everyday lives. We can draw inspiration from the dedication and discipline of the athletes and apply those lessons to our own pursuits, whether they are in sports, academics, or any other aspect of life. The Olympic Games bring the world together in a way that no other event can. They transcend cultural boundaries, language barriers, and political differences. They remind us that despite our many differences, we are all part of the same global community, united by our shared humanity. As we embark on this journey of the Olympic Games, let us embrace the spirit of unity, excellence, and determination. May these games inspire us to reach for new heights in our own lives and to build a better world, one that values cooperation, understanding, and peace.Thank you, and let the games begin!。

do you know what makes them cry? it's the polluted world, a dirty world, caused by our irresponsible behaviors, that makes those lovely animals cry. many of us are smart enough to know how terrible it is to have a world without animals and plants. but some people still persist in making the same errors and harming the environment.what's worse is that people are eating wild animals. those people don't know, and more importantly, they don't want to know. this kind of behavior has caused some specific problems. for exle, medical experts have suggested that eating wild animals helped spread the terrible disease sars. now, our world is no longer clean and beautiful. why? because air, water, and noise pollution has bee more and more serious. noise pollution makes us talk more loudly and bee angry more easily. water pollution makes our rivers andlakes very dirty. air pollution is the most serious kind of pollution. both air pollution and water pollution are not only dangerous to our health, but also dangerous to animals and plants. we're destroying our only world. a large number of trees have been cut down, so a lot of lands have been turned into deserts. pollution can be seen everywhere! unquestionably it isessential that we clean up our environment. sadly, we've not always appreciated the importance of protecting the environment. on the streets, you can see cars producing smog. in the bathrooms, you can see students leaving the water tap on after using them. not only the young people, but also the elderly ones throw things everywhere without thinking its wrong, even in a beautiful park. these things are taking place every day, even in modern cities like beijing. we can't do that any more. we must learn how to protect the environment. if everyone is aware of protecting it instead of destroying it, the world can bee cleaner, more beautiful, and more peaceful. the theme of beijing XX olympic games is "new peking, new olympic". it's the target owned by every chinese. we should try our best to improve beijing's environment for olympics.第三篇:XX奥运英语演讲稿一.role play: read this following paragraph by yourself:XX奥运英语演讲稿chinese people always appreciate the purposes and principles of olympic ideal, support the efforts of olympic games to promote world peace. the chinese government and people are doing our the utmost/best toprepare for the XX olympic games in beijing,;with advocating (vt. 提倡)olympic ideal, and shooting at the pageant (n. 盛会)sparkpluging (vt. 倡导)world peace and enhancing the relationships among the world. olympic spirit are gonna spread again in orient cultural ancient china.the government and people of china have always admired the purposes and principles of the olympic spirit and supported the efforts made by the olympics in promoting world peace. thechinese government and people are doing our utmost in preparation for the XX olympics in beijing. it is our hope to make it a grand gathering that will carry forward the olympic spirit, promote world peace and enhance the friendship among people of the world, so that the olympic spirit will flourish (vi. 繁荣)once again, this time in china, an oriental country with an ancient civilization.
The 2008 Olympic Game has been the most discussed and
anticipated event through out
Beijing ever since Beijing bid for it years ago. Y et the
focus has shifted from making a
promise to making good a promise after Beijing’s
successful bid. In my opinion, to
bridge the gap between a promise and reality, Beiji ng
still has a long way to go. Here
are some of my ideas on how to fill that gap.
First, the speaking of English is far most importan t than
all other difficulties. Learning
a language takes a long time and a lot of heart ship, it’
s not easy. So can we get
most of Chinese to speak English before 2008?
It needs us to try and practice very hard.
Second, traffic jams have been an age-old headache in Beijing, the scenes of
long queues of vehicles worming their way inch
by inch while discharging dark fumes into the air had given all of us a really
bad impression, and I know that none of us wish to show off that side of
Beijing to athletes and journalists over the world,
it would blemish the city’s image and leave a bad reputation. So we have to work real hard
on Green Olympics.
Thirdly, to add enchantment to convenience, an
over-all city planning is
indispensable. If time permits, a redesign of city layout and
adjustment of architectural style would provide a better environment for
fostering the characteristics, blending oriental
elegance with international
grandeur, will tower a lot among surrounding
architectures. To achieve
such effects, Beijing shall solicit opinions from first-rate architects and
make an overall plan.
Even though, Beijing still has a lot to do to rea
ch
the level that the world expects,
but we have the confidence to make Beijing a
brand new city by the year 2008.
Huge changes are taking places, and not far in the future, Beijing will be the focus
of all worlds’attention. The world trusts
Beijing and that’s why Beijing won the bid.
We will grasp this opportunity and do our best.
We are not yet ready but we will be by the
year 2008.
Let’s all wish the best for the 2008 Olympic
games in Beijing. Thanks for your listening
