Reading report of the old man and the sea

In this month, I read the famous American writer Hemingway's novel “ the old man and the sea ” again. I admired the old fisherman's independence and his spunk. He let me know that a person who want to be successful must have the spirit of perseverance.

“The old man and the sea”is introducedin Cuba, an old fisherman whose name is Santiago and he has been 84 days did not catch fish.Peers and the little boy who shows great reverence for him are away fromhim.The 85 days he alone take off to distant places and captureda big Marlin which is bigger than a boat two feet long. But the big Marlin fish is a hero; it is clever, calm, “it is not panic at all when it was fighting”, the old man was dragged on for two days and two nights by the big Marlin fish, Finally he was exhausted. The old man was able to get rid of the dilemma just by cutting the rope, but he had not done so.Instead of drinking cold water, eating raw fish to increase his physical strength. Eventually subdued the big fish, and hunted his goal. But in the way home, large Marlin was swarmed by sharks took turns eating. Santiago was spare no effort to fight, but ultimately lost to the shark. When he returned to shore, the old man brought only an empty ship and his exhausted body back. Because the large Marlin fish was eaten by sharks only a pair of bone ridge. Fortunately, the extremely sleepy old man dreamed of the blue sea and the brave lion in his dream and the boy was still beside him.

When I read, “ Man is not born for failure, a person can be destroyed, but can not be defeated ”. The fisherman’s perseverance and bravery gives me a heartquake, because he had not given in to the fact. Human nature is tough, human beings have their own limits. But it is precisely because of the old fisherman who again and again to limit the challenges, beyond them, this limit was extended again and again, and to put greater challenges in front of mankind. In this sense, the old fisherman Santiago such a hero, whether they challenge the success or failure, is worthy of our respect forever. Because he brought us the most noble self-confidence of mankind.

This story makes me understand that the road is twists and turns of life, the failure is commonplace thing, we should always have a strong, unyielding heart to face the failure, and success will come to us.
