Older manuscripts often display titles beginning with “On the …” This phrase is equivalent to “ Study of,”, or “ Investigation into …” It is not a common style in current publications.

1) Descriptive abstract A descriptive abstract usually states the general subject matter of the document that follows. It tells in a qualitative way what the paper contains.

The title is the first part of an essay that meets the eye of the reader. It will perhaps make the difference between continuing on to read the abstract or moving on to another one. The title must contain the very essence of the essay, but should not be too long .
