The diagrams below show some principles of house design for cool and for warm climates. The diagrams show how house designs differ according to climate.

The most noticeable difference between houses designed for cool and warm climates is in the shape of the roof. The designs also differ with regard to the windows and the use of insulation.

We can see that the cool climate house has a high-angled roof, which allows sunlight to enter through the window. By contrast, the roof of the warm climate house has a peak in the middle and roof overhangs to shade the windows. Insulation and thermal building materials are used in cool climates to reduce heat loss, whereas insulation and reflective materials are used to keep the heat out in warm climates.

Task1: The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The flow chart illustrates how water cycle works. The flow chart illustrates the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The source of energy for evaporation is primarily solar radiationThe flow chart illustrates the natural process known as water cycle. In general, there are three stages of the process, beginning with the evaporation of water. The water then falls as rain and eventually flows/runs back into oceans again.Looking at the first stage of the process, it happens in the ocean where water evaporates because of heat from the sun. It is noteworthy that 80% of water vapor in the air comes from the oceans. At the following stage labeled ‘precipitation, condensing water vapor forms cloud, after which water falls as rain or snow.At the final stage, rainwater may take various paths. Some of it may fall into lakes or return to the oceans via ‘surface runoff’. Otherwise, rainwater may filter through the ground, storing between the surface and impervious layer as groundwater. Salt water intrusion is shown to take place just before water passes into the oceans to complete the cycle.。

雅思小作文——流程图出现频率:低难易程度:高流程图和普通图表的区别在于:●流程图基本上不会出现数据,文字信息占主要地位●流程图以描述为主,比较的概率比较少●流程图需要把图中出现的信息都做描述,而普通图表则不需要将每一个数据都表述●流程图的时态比较单一,主要是用一般现在时●流程图的分段比较灵活,只要不同阶段之间的差距很明显,就可以另起一段●流程图可以不写总结段【如果写总结段,可以把步骤稍微总结一下】流程图注意事项:1)注意掌握段落连接或者不同阶段之间的说法(sequence expression)表示首阶段的一些说法:①The process starts from (名词or动名词)②At the first/initial stage + 句子③At the beginning of the cycle + 句子④During the initial phase + 句子⑤The beginning of the whole cycle is marked by (名词or动名词)⑥(名词or动名词)is the first step in (名词or动名词)表示次阶段的一些说法:①The second stage is(名词or动名词)②The next step in the process is (名词or动名词)表示最后阶段的一些说法:①(名词or动名词)is the last step in the procedure②The final phase of the procedure is about (名词or动名词)③In the final phase + 句子④Entering the final phase + 句子⑤(名词or动名词)is the final stage2)单词的转换主要体现在名词转换成动词。

The powders are delivered to the grinder, where they are ground into cement.3)注意流程图读图的顺序,很多是以循环形式出现4)除了连接词外,还可以使用分词结构和状语从句来表示顺序,如:下面几句话的意思是一样的,●Liquor butter is filtered, before being converted into solid butter.●Once liquor butter is filtered, it is converted into solid butter.●Liquor butter is filtered, until it is converted into solid matter.5)常用被动语态●误:Put these materials in the heater.●正:These materials are put in the heater.6)工序图的叙述流程图可以遵循下面的步骤:步骤1:确定材料步骤2:确定工具步骤3:确定动词,然后将这些信息写成一句话。

The first diagram shows that there are four main stages in the life of the silkworm. First of all, eggs are produced by the moth and it takes ten days for each egg to become a silkworm larva that feeds on mulberry leaves. This stage lasts forup to 6 weeks until the larva produces a cocoon of silk thread around itself. After a period of about 3 weeks, the adult moths eventually emerge from these cocoons and the life cycle begins again.

As is observed from the flow chart, the goods manufacturing is a complex process which is done in several stages and information is sometimes fed back to earlier stages to make some adjustments.Firstly, raw materials and other components are stored together and production planning is done. There are two major process involves in the overall manufacturing process: one is manufacturing process itself and another one is the information feedback process with which the adjustment of the manufacturing is done. After the product research, the design part is done and this input is used in product planning stage. After the production planning is complete the assembly, inspection, testing and packaging stages are done sequentially. Feedback from testing phase is used in design stage and which led back to product planning stage. Again, the market research affects the design and advertising stages and inputs from the market research stage is used in packaging stage. The final two stages are dispatch and sales. The information flow stages gives feedback to other stages to refine and adjust the process. In summary, the consumer goods manufacturing process involves both the multi-staged manufacturing and research methods.

The Water Cycle: A Vital Process for Life on EarthThe water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, is a fundamental process that governs the movement and distribution of water on our planet. This intricate system, driven by the sun's energy and the force of gravity, is responsible for the continuous circulation of water between the Earth's surface, its atmosphere, and its underground reservoirs. Understanding the water cycle is crucial for comprehending the delicate balance of our ecosystem and the vital role water plays in sustaining life on Earth. The water cycle begins with the process of evaporation, where the sun's heat energy warms the Earth's surface, causing water from oceans, lakes, and other water bodies to transform into water vapor. This water vapor, being less dense than the surrounding air, rises into the atmosphere. As the water vapor cools and condenses, it forms clouds, a process known as condensation.Within the clouds, water droplets or ice crystals continue to grow, eventually becoming heavy enough to fall back to the Earth's surface as precipitation. This precipitation can take various forms, such asrain, snow, sleet, or hail, depending on the atmospheric conditions. The precipitation that falls on land can either infiltrate the soil and replenish groundwater aquifers, or it can flow across the surface as runoff, feeding rivers, streams, and lakes. The water that seeps into the ground and becomes groundwater can remain there for years, decades, or even centuries, slowly moving through the porous soil and rock layers. Eventually, this groundwater may resurface as springs or be extracted through wells, completing the cycle. The water that remains on the surface, either in the form of rivers, lakes, or wetlands, may also evaporate back into the atmosphere, continuing the cyclic process. The water cycle is not a simple linear process but rather a complex and interconnected system. It involves various processes, including evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, and runoff, all of which work together to maintain the delicate balance of water on our planet. The importance of the water cycle cannot be overstated. It is the driving force behind the distribution and availability of freshwater resources, which are essential for human consumption, agricultural activities, industrial processes, and the survival of ecosystems. The water cycle also plays a crucial role in regulating the Earth's climate, as the movement and phase changes of water influence temperature, humidity, and weather patterns.Disruptions to the water cycle, caused by factors such as climate change, deforestation, and unsustainable water use, can have far-reaching consequences. These disturbances can lead to water scarcity, flooding, droughts, and the degradation of aquatic habitats, ultimately impacting the well-being of both human and natural communities. To ensure the continued health and resilience of the water cycle, it is essential to adopt sustainable water management practices, promote water conservation, and address the underlying causes of water-related challenges. This includes implementing efficient irrigation techniques, reducing water pollution, protecting and restoring natural ecosystems, and raising public awareness about the importance of the water cycle and the need for responsible water stewardship.By understanding and respecting the intricate workings of the water cycle, we can work towards a future where water resources are managed in a way that balances the needs of human societies and the natural environment. The water cycle is not just a scientific concept but a vital process that sustains life on our planet, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure its continued health and resilience for generations to come.。

The flow chart illustrates the production process of bricks usually used in building industry. Generally, seven stages are included, from material exploitation to delivery.Firstly, underground clay is dug up as the raw material by a large digger. Clay lumps are then stacked on a metal grid which serves to break up chunks into much smaller pieces. After falling on a roller, the stuff is further conveyed and mixed with sand and water. In following stage, the well-blended compound is pressed in a mould or cut by a wire cutter, in order to form brick-shaped pieces. During next 24-48 hours, dozens of these fresh bricks are kept in a room, namely drying oven.Once the bricks are dry, the next stage is heating and cooling process. bricks are transferred in a so-called kiln, another type of hotter oven, in which they are burned twice, moderately and highly, in temperature from 200°C-980°C to about 870°C-1300°C. This is followed by depositing heated bricks in a cooling chamber for 2 or 3 days. Finally, cooled hard bricks get packed and delivered by trucks to their destination, a building site.(194)2.

The concept of a circular economy has been gaining traction in recent years as a potential solution to the environmental and economic challenges we face. A circular economy is an alternative to the traditional linear economy, which is based on a 'take, make, dispose' model. In contrast, a circular economy aims to keep products, components, and materials at their highest utility and value at all times, minimizing waste and the use of finite resources. This essay will explore the benefits and challenges of transitioning to a circular economy, as well as the potential impact on various stakeholders. One of the key benefits of a circular economy is its potential to reduce environmental degradation. By keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible, and by promoting the repair, reuse, and recycling of products, acircular economy can help to minimize the extraction of raw materials and the generation of waste. This, in turn, can help to reduce pollution, conserve natural resources, and mitigate climate change. For example, by extending the lifespan of electronic devices through repair and refurbishment, the need for new raw materials and the environmental impact of electronic waste can be significantly reduced. In addition to its environmental benefits, a circular economy also has the potential to generate economic opportunities. By promoting remanufacturing, recycling, and the development of innovative business models, a circular economy can create new jobs and industries. For example, the recycling and remanufacturing sectors have the potential to create a significant number of jobs, while also reducing the demand for new raw materials and the associated costs. Furthermore, the shift towards a circular economy can also lead to cost savings for businesses, as they can reduce their reliance on expensive and finite resources, and find new revenue streams through the development of innovative products and services. However, transitioning to a circular economy is not without its challenges. One of the main obstacles is the need to change consumer behavior and attitudestowards consumption. In a linear economy, the focus is on the acquisition of new products, often driven by advertising and consumer culture. Shifting towards a circular economy requires a change in mindset, where consumers prioritize durability, repairability, and longevity over disposability and constant consumption. This can be a difficult transition, as it requires significant education and awareness-raising efforts to change deeply ingrained consumer habits and preferences.Furthermore, the transition to a circular economy also requires significant investment in infrastructure and technology. For example, the development of recycling and remanufacturing facilities, as well as the implementation of new product design and business models, requires substantial upfront investment. This can be a barrier for many businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, which may not have the resources to invest in the necessary changes. Additionally, the transition to a circular economy may also require changes to existing regulations and policies, in order to create an enabling environment for circular business models and to incentivize the adoption of sustainable practices.Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of transitioning to acircular economy are significant. In addition to its environmental and economic advantages, a circular economy also has the potential to improve resource security and resilience, by reducing the reliance on finite and often geopolitically sensitive resources. Furthermore, a circular economy can also help to address social issues, such as the creation of inclusive and sustainable jobs, and the promotion of more equitable access to resources and products. In conclusion, the transition to a circular economy presents bothopportunities and challenges. While it has the potential to address environmental degradation, create economic opportunities, and improve resource security, it also requires significant changes in consumer behavior, as well as investment in infrastructure and technology. However, with the right policies, incentives, and collaboration between various stakeholders, the transition to a circular economy can be achieved, leading to a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.。

Writing 1 Task 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write your answer in a word processing program on your computer. The only way to reduce the amount of traffic in cities today is by reducing the need for people to travel from home for work, education or shopping. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words. It is certainly true that today traffic in cities throughout the world has become a major problem. This is obvious from the number of vehicles on our roads and the amount of pollution they cause. Probably the traffic problem is due to individuals travelling for work, study or shopping purposes, and this is evident in the rush hours we experience every morning and evening. It is also true that, these days, such daily commuting is not always necessary because people can do these things from home. We can see this in the options Information Technology gives us today. For instance, on-line work, distance learning and shopping facilities are all available via the Internet. However, even if everyone had access to the technology and the opportunity to work from home, it is unrealistic to think that everyone would want to. Even though the technology for working, studying or shopping on-line makes this option a possibility, nevertheless it would mean people had less freedom of choice and less social contact in their lives. This would have a large impact on society as a whole. So, in conclusion, I think that while this practice could reduce the traffic problems in our cities, it is most unlikely to be an acceptable solution. In terms of other solutions, perhaps we need to think more carefully about facilitating public transport and limiting private cars in our city centres. The development of public transport that is not road-based, such as sky trains or subways, would probably be a more acceptable alternative measure to reduce jams on our roads. You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.Nowadays, it is common to see advertisements on television or on billboards in the streets. Some people think that advertising boosts the sales of goods and encourages people to buy things they do not necessarily need. This argument contains some truth. In my country, advertising companies often produce advertisements featuring popular actors or singers to induce people, especially youngsters, to acquire goods which their favourite actor or singer seems to endorse, whether they need the products or not.On the one hand, on the television screen a product is always made to look attractive and of good quality. As a result, people often purchase such goods upon impulse. Furthermore, as the number of consumers of a particular product increases under the impact of a persistent advertising campaign, others may be drawn into the trend, creating a large market for products which do not satisfy the real needs of society. On the other hand, there are various counterarguments to these objections: The decision to make a purchase is a matter of personal choice. Advertising may not be the main cause of consumption habits. Individuals have their own preferences, and if they have enough disposable income it is entirely up to them how they use it. Also, it is doubtful if anyone can have the authority to judge whether goods for sale are really needed by society or not. Finally, as there is always only a limited amount of disposable income for anyone, people try to manage their budgets as best as they can. Advertising can seldom persuade people to spend money that they need for more urgent things, or to spend money that they do not have (for instance, by buying in installments). In conclusion, as buyers have their own strong opinions and views on what constitutes good quality and on what they need and do not need, it is better to leave them to make their own decisions. It is difficult to claim that everyone is swayed by advertising and always makes purchases impulsively. However, it is a good idea to put restraints on advertising aimed at children and inexperienced youngsters. Otherwise, they might be persuaded to buy goods that they do not need, or to spend money that they do not have!
