Topic 1: Will the Internet Replace Universities?
With the increasing access to the Internet and soaring popularity of distance learning, many people begin to choose to study online for diplomas rather than go to universities. An argument accordingly arose, that is, is the Internet going to replace universities? From my point of view, universities cannot be replaced by the Internet.
First, although the existence of the Internet has changed the way people read and write and made the diversified learning material and methods come true, it is not able to take the place of books and teachers, which are indispensable to higher education. Traditional education in universities will still be in the dominant position. Second, university life is essential for college students to enhance their abilities of communication and social adaptability, besides acquiring knowledge and skills. Last but not least, it is only under the standard university management system that the check and evaluation of students' achievement can be guaranteed.
In conclusion, the Internet will not be a rival of universities; instead, it will become a helpful supplement to traditional education. With the Internet service, university life will be significantly enriched.
Topic 2: Building a Factory in a Community
Should It Be Welcomed or Rejected? It is reported that a new factory will be built in our community. This has caused much dispute among the residents. Some people welcome the plan, regarding it as a stimulus for the economy. They say the new factory will provide new jobs for the residents, and it will help improve its infrastructure. However, (for my part/from my own perspective) I agree with the opposite opinion, that is, such a factory should be rejected in the community. incentive
To begin with, the factory will certainly bring much pollution to the environment. The machines will cause much noise, and will produce much waste water and poisonous gas. All these will affect our health. In addition, with the factory in the area, the community may become less pleasant to live in. We will miss our present peace and quiet that is so valuable these days, and the coming traffic jam will decrease the value of our apartments.
In a word, I think/hold the view that/take the attitude that the disadvantages of building a factory are far greater than the advantages. All residents in the community should rise to reject the plan.
Topic 3: Work in the Countryside
Many university graduates now volunteer to work in the countryside. It is reported that once hundreds of university graduates competed with one another to work as a village leader in Beijing.
Many factors have contributed to this phenomenon.First, with more and more university students graduating each year, the job market competition becomes increasingly fierce, and many graduates cannot find jobs in the cities. Working in the countryside is better than being jobless. Second, the villages that are trying to employ university graduates are generally in the rich areas of the country, which makes working there an attractive choice. Third, some university graduates, being from the countryside, are eager to go back home to contribute to the construction of their hometown. With their knowledge and enthusiasm, they will play an important role in building the new countryside.
Personally, I think university graduates should go to work where they are needed most and where they can make full use of their talents. Working in the countryside can be truly an advisable choice.
