这是2017年杭州市初中毕业升学文化考试英语听力部分考试，现在是试音时间。

W: You look worried, Paul.
M: I am, Ms. Manson. I’m having trouble learning English.
W: You said you liked English. What’s the problem?
M: I can’t get the pronunciation right.
W: Well, listening can help. Why don’t you listen to English songs on the radio and repeat the difficult words?
M: That’s a good idea. But what about all the new words? I forget a lot of the new w ords.
W: You can always write the new words in your notebook and review them from time to time. You can even study on the way to school.
M: That might really help! Thanks.
W: Can you understand when people talk to you?
M: Well, not always. Sometimes I just don’t understand what people are saying.
W: Why don’t you join an English language club to practice speaking English? The English club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
M: Maybe I’ll go. The only other problem is that I don’t get much writing practice.
W: Maybe you should find a pen pal.
M: That sounds like a fun way to practice writing. Thanks, Ms. Manson.

M: What shall we do this weekend, honey?

M: Not really. I just thought it would be fun to do something new.

W: I usually go shopping during the weekend and you usually watch the football games on TV. M: Yes, you often have tea with your friends and I sometimes play cards with my friends. We hardly do anything together. It was quite different when we were first married.
W: Oh, I have got an idea. Autumn is the best season here. Let’s go for a picnic this weekend with our friends. You can ask your friends and I will invite mine.
M: Good idea! I would look for the place and you can prepare the food. But are you sure you really want all our friends to come along? So many ?

M: But I think cars are very convenient. Without a car, I even don’t know how to get where I want

M: I think it’s too noisy. I prefer to drive. It’s usually quiet and comfortable in the car.
W: But I think everyone should drive cars less. It helps the earth.
M: You are right. I’ll try to drive less.
W: Great! Next time we go outing, we can take the subway together. It’s also convenient now. M: OK.

There are many different kinds of music in the world. Let’s study some of them.
Classical music is a kind of music which needs high musical skills. If you want to learn this kind of music, you have to get proper training.
Heavy music came out after World War II. The melody of the song is greatly influenced by the structure of it. It is also known as “information music”. In heavy music, songwriting is based on a form.
Hip－hop music always includes the use of instruments such as the guitar, violin, piano, drums and so on. It was first played by a group of traveling singers and poets of West Africa.
Opera music first appeared in Italy in the 1600s. It has a great mixture of art and musical invention and it is used in theaters.
Jazz music is strong and complex. It came out in America in the late 19th century. The main musical instruments are the trumpet and violin, which help carry the melody.
Besides these, there are many other kinds of music such as the blues, dance music and so on.
