My new friend Jack is a fashion follower who often wears strange clothes and long hair. But my mother drove him away from our flat at the first sight yesterday. She thought he was a bad person, although she didn’t know him at all.

However, mom totally changed her mind this morning. When we were walking down the street near our home, we witnessed an accident. A boy was hit by a car when he was walking across the road with headphones. Many people saw it, but at first no one knew how to help. Then someone rushed forwards and covered the boy with his coat to keep warm. He looked after him well until the ambulance came. It was Jack! His calmness and seasoned first aid skills moved mom. She went and apolpgized to Jack for her former attitute, and told him that he was always welcome to our home.

That gives me a lesson. The appearance may reflect one’s interest, but it isn’t the symbol of one’s quality. We should never judge a book with its cover.

Stop Polluting the Water!

Spring is the best season of a year. The weather gets warmer and Waemer. My classmates and I took a one-day sightseeing tour around our city. The scene was very beautiful. But when we saw the rivers along our city, I felt very sorry and thought a lot.

With the development of; modern industry and agriculture, more and more waste is being poured into rivers. It has caused serious pollution. The rivers are becoming so dirty that nothing can live in them. The rivers are giving off a terrible smell.

We make an urgent appeal that measures should be taken to cope with the situation. Our government should build various facilities such as sewage treatment plant and encourage scientists to work out more and better ways to reduce water pollution.

Water is the source of our lives. It is very important to protect the water.

春天是一年中最好的季节。天气变得越来越暖和，我和同学进行了环城一日游，所到之处景色宜人。但当我们看到流过城区的河流时，我感到很惋惜，想了很多。

随着现代工农业的发展，越来越多的污水正被排进河里，河水被严重污染。水变得如此肮脏，以至于生物不能在里面生存。河水发出难闻的气味。

我们急切呼吁应该采取措施改变这种状况。政府应当兴建各种设施，例如污水处理厂，并且鼓励科学家们想出更多更好的办法以减少水污染。

水是生命之源。保护水资源十分重要。

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into , wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.

全世界的环境问题变得越来越严重。例如汽车污染的空气影响了人们的呼吸，工厂释放污染的气体，山上的树木被砍伐，污水不断被排人河里。另外，无论我们走到哪里，到处可见随意丢弃的垃圾。事实上，污染正威胁我们的生存。

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make great noises and give off poisonous gas. Trees on the hills have been cut down,and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore,wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. Massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man’s existence.

We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve our environmental problems. For instance, new laws must be passed to place strict control over industrial pollution, the pub!ic must receive the education about the hazard of pollution and so on. We hope that all these measures will be effective and bring back a healthful environment.
