The Mid-Autumn day

The Mid-Autumn Festival, on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, we can observe the biggest and brightest full moon of the year, the harvest moon.

One legend about the Moon Festival concerns expert architect Hou Yih, who built a palace of jade for the Goddess of the western heaven. In reward, she gave Hou Yih a pill with the elixir of immortality, warning him not to take it until he had fulfilled certain conditions. Hou Yih's ever-curious wife, Chang O, found the pill and promptly swallowed it. As punishment, she was banished to the moon where, according to tradition, her beauty is at its most radiant on the day of the Moon Festival.

The Festival is a public holiday marked by family reunions, moon gazing, and the eating of moon cakes-round pastries stuffed with red bean paste and an egg yolk, or fruit and preserves.

Dragon Boat Festival

Boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival commemorate the attempt to rescue the patriotic poet Chu Y uan, who drowned on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in 277 B.C. Unable to save him, the people threw bamboo stuffed with cooked rice into the water so that the fish would eat the rice rather than the body of their hero. This evolved into the present custom of eating zongzi, rice dumplings filled with ham or bean paste and wrapped in bamboo leaves.

Since antiquity the Chinese have believed that the fifth lunar month is a pestilential, danger-fraught period. Sanitation is emphasized, medicines are added to food, aromatic branches are hung above doors, and beautifully embroidered protective amulets or sachets containing spices or medicines are fastened to the clothing of children.

Large crowds attend the festive boat races in Taipei, Taiwan, and Kaohsiung(高雄). Teams from all over the world compete in the races as excited observers cheer form the riverbanks.

Spring festival

Spring Festival is the most important festival in China .It’s to celebrate the lunar calendar ‘s new year .In the evening before the Spring Festival ,families get together and have a big meal .In many places people like to set off firecrackers .Dumplings are the most traditional food .Children like the festival very much ,because they can have delicious food and wear new clothes .They can also

get some money from their parents. This money is given to children for good luck . People put New Year scrolls on the wall for good fortune.

The Spring Festival lasts about 15 days long .People visit relatives and friends with the words “Have all your wishes”. People enjoy the Spring Festival, during this time they can have a good rest.

National Day Holiday

National Day is coming, and we can have a seven-day. My families are going to Hainan. It's a good seaside city. We are staying there for a week. We are going to the beach and going swimming in the sea. We’re visiting Tanya Haijiao, Wanquan River and many other beautiful places. I think we'll have a good time there.

I went to my cousin's house on the first day of the holidays and got a piece of good news that his wife was pregnant; She said she's worrying about getting fat, but on her face there was a unconceivable pleasure of conceiving a baby. A Shopping Center in the Neighborhood

Large shopping centers are very convenient because we can find almost everything we need there.

They are also good places to spend free time because they usually offer some form of entertainment such as movie theaters. However, large shopping centers can also bring some disadvantages, and for this reason I would oppose the building of one in my neighborhood.

One disadvantage of having a large shopping center in the neighborhood would be a great increase in traffic. More cars would not only bring traffic congestion, but also noise and parking problems. Another disadvantage is that a large shopping center requires a lot of space. If build one in my neighborhood, some open space would have to be sacrificed. We might no longer have room for a park or sports ground. And finally, if there were a shopping center in the neighborhood, people might visit it every day. Due to the above disadvantages, I would oppose any plan to build a large shopping center in my neighborhood. Although I enjoy visiting shopping centers on occasion, I don’t need to go very often. I would rather spend some time traveling to one than live next door to one. My neighborhood is a peaceful and quiet place and I hope it will stay that way.

Online shopping

With the development of the Internet and the popularization of computers, shopping on the Internet has become a commonplace in our life. Here consumers can buy almost everything they need.

Shopping on the Internet has a lot of advantages, of which the most important is perhaps its convenience. People don't have to waste a lot of their energy and precious time to go from one shop to another to choose the commodities they like. This is especially desirable to the old, the sick and the busy people who cannot go to the shops in person. The goods come in all shapes, sizes and colors on the Internet. All they need to do is to sit in front of their computers and click the mousses. The commodities they order will be delivered to them promptly.

However, shopping on the Internet also has its disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that the consumers can't see the goods or try them on personally. Sometimes, the real goods may not be the same as what they have seen on the computer. The second disadvantage is that some shops on the Internet are not registered. They will never deliver anything to you after they get the money from you. Once cheated, you will find that you have nowhere to go to complain.

Yaxiu market ,also known as Ya show market, is one of the best silk and cloths markets in Beijing .This place has lots of similar items like Silk Market, but the price costs cheaper than the Silk Market. It is located at the west side of Sanlitun（三里屯）Bar Street and adjacent to the second embassy area. its main business scope covers a wide range of foreign trade clothing, accessories, traditional handicrafts, snacks and cuisines, as well as recreation and entertainment.
