She seemed aware that he was staring at her and lowered her gaze abruptly. His flight was leaving in an hour. To kill time, Dannis stepped into an airport bar and ordered aScotch. While sipping it, he watched the flow of travelers through the terminal (航站楼)until he caught sight of the black-haaired girl in the leather coat again, deep in conversation with a blonde girl (⾦发⼥孩)."Invite her for a drink?" Where could I have left it? His mind was racing, the credit cards, the cash, the identification card..? His stomach stirred with something very like fear. "The girl who was so near to me!" he said to himself. All at once he understood she had picked his pocket. What shall he do? First, find a policeman, tell him what has happened. 2020年浙江省金华市十校联考高考英语模拟试卷含答案

2020年浙江省金华市十校联考高考英语模拟试卷含答案

高考英语模拟试卷题号I II III IV V 总分得分一、阅读理解(本大题共10小题,共25.0分)AThree brown bears in the distance catches Charlie Russell's eye. When they get a metre or so away from him,the huge animals slow down. The leading bear holds her face very close to Rusell's.She touches his nose with her own and Russell breaks into a smile."Hey,little bear," he says.Rusell, now 70,has spent more than ten springs and summers living with brown bears in the eastern-most part of Russia."No question, bears are dangerous," says Russell, but he also argues that fearing them prevents us from recognizing their intelligent, playful and peaceful nature."They attack us because we abuse them." he insists."What I want to do now is work on the human side of the problem," Russell says.In Canada -a country where cities spread deep into the rural landscape and hunters kill about 450 bears annually,he is determined to change the way we treat our neighbors.Russell was raised with the idea that " the only good bear is a dead bear." His father,a hunter, shared stories of cruel brown bears with his five children. However, when the family's hunting business declined in the early 1960s,Russell joined his father on an expedition to film brown bears in Alaska.Russell couldn't help but wonder why bears behaved aggressively towards people carrying guns, but left the film-makers alone."I suspected they didn't like cruelty," he says.In 1994 he tested out his theory in British Columbia's Khutzeymateen Inlet, where he took tourists on bear-viewing tours. One afternoon, while resting on a log between guiding trips,Russell sat still as a female brown bear casually approached."I knew if I did not move, she would keep coming," he later said."I had decided to let her come as close as she wanted." Russell spoke to the bear in gentle tones and she sat down beside him.She put her paw on his hand and Russell responded to the gesture, touching her nose, lip and teeth. These were the iron jaws featured in his father's campfire stories, now no more threatening than the nose of a little dog.If he could repeat similar moments,Russell believed he could prove that "just by treating bears kindly, people can live safely with them".1.According to Russell, bears attack humans because they ______ .A. mistreat themB. are afraid of themC. mistake their playful tricksD. have no idea of their real nature2.The underlined part in Para. 4 suggests ______ .A. a good bear never diesB. a live bear is dangerousC. the only good bear is deadD. a bear is aggressive to gun holders3.The author's purpose of writing this passage is to ______ .A. show us how brave he isB. warn us not to approach bearsC. encourage us to play with bearsD. tell us to live in peace with bearsBA survey of 1,000 people showed that an incredible 60 percent of workers ate at their desks every day while two thirds take 30 minutes or less for lunch. This means they are working an extra 180 hours a year—equal to 16 eight-hour days. Even when staffs do manage to leave their desks, they are usually on business with nearly a quarter admitting to regularly using the time to catch up with professional contacts. An academic expert in the science of workplaces said employees were putting their health at risk by refusing to take a lunch break. Dr Tissington, Associate Dean of Business Partnerships at Aston University, said people feel "under pressure" at work, with many spending long hoursat their desks, 'tapping away at keyboards, staring at screens and sitting with bad posture in awkward positions."He said it was important for workers to take regular breaks, get up, move and walk around a bit. "Resting, or taking a break in the middle of the day helps to clear out the mind and prepares us for a productive afternoon," he said. "The feeling of guilt for taking lunch breaks is a subjectthat is concerning and probably requires proper investigation," he added.Dr. Tissington mentioned he makes sure to get away from his desk at lunchtime and deliberately chooses to get lunch from different places—changing his route to get there. "This has the added benefit of exercise," he explained,"and, working in a large organization,it gives me the opportunity to meet different colleagues along the way."Office workers had admitted to sacrificing their lunch breaks to further their careers. PR assistant Tammy Phillips, 24, said he hadn't taken a lunch break since past two years. "The way I view it is that I can get on with work when it?s quieter at lunch time and it never hurts your career for the bosses to see you at your desk when your colleagues swan out fora sandwich," he said."The competition for jobs now is so fierce that I've known friends who have quit smoking because they don't want to be seen to go out for a cigarette during the day."4.We can learn from the first paragraph that _____.A. workers want to escape from their workB. many workers do not take a full lunch breakC. different workers have different lunch breaksD. most workers are not permitted to have a full lunch break5.Which of the following is true about Dr. Tissington?A. He enjoys physical exercise.B. He feels guilty at taking lunch breaks.C. He likes to stay away from his colleagues.D. Lunch Skippers Work Extra 16 Days YearlyD. Giving up a Lunch Break: Risk Your HealthC"What are you" they ask."Guess," I say. Some suggest I have Japanese eyes.Others think I'm Filipino, maybe Indian.Few guess the truth:I am Mexican American. But it's not like I've ever worn that name alone.I'm part of a younger generation of Americans whose identity is shaped neither by where we came from nor where we ended up.My parents know the California immigrant experience first-hand.They grew up picking fruit in the San Joaquin Valley, knowing what it was to be poor, but also knowing what it was to be Mexican.Wanting a better life for their children, they went to college and got professional jobs.By the time I was born, they were fully accepted into the middle class.I grew up in the racially mixed zones of Sacramento, and when my parents talked of their years in the fields it was hard to connect those stories to where we found ourselves now.By the time I reached my teens, difference had announced itself We were all struggling for a sense of individuality, looking everywhere but where we came from.Identity became goods.Wearing certain clothes and liking certain kinds of music created social categories.I became a junkman, sorting through the ruins of pop culture past looking for the pieces of myself. In love with the Beatles,I linked myself to England.Fascinated by Japanese cartoon,I took language classes at the local Buddhist temple.I grew up American to a fault, rarely considering my own people's culture and humanity.I left Sacramento and moved to San Francisco's Mission District to put myself together again. There I first saw my people living in a separate community that had its own language, one I'd never learned. My brown face led people to ask me for directions in Spanish.I could only respond with a universally understood shrug."This is what 1 am," I said to myself, looking at a street full of newly arrived immigrants. No,that wasn't quite it.I corrected myself:"This is where I come from."Is it tragic that I grew up far from my mother culture, discovering it so late in life?I prefer to think that my American upbringing has taught me to apply insights from many different cultures to my everyday life.I am a product not just of Mexico or the U.S.but of the world as a whole.7.Where does the writer grow up______A. In Sacramento.B. In a Mexico town.C. In the San Joaquin Valley.D. In San Francisco's Mission District.8.What did the writer learn from his American upbringing______A. To promote mother culture.B. To adapt to new surroundings.C. To clearly express individuality.D. AOne evening last summer, 11-year-old Owen and his mom put on white suits and taped their rain boots to their pant legs. Then they each grabbed a wooden pole with a large white cloth attached to it and started dragging the tools through the trees and grass in their Wisconsin backyard. They were looking for ticks(扁虱虫). Owen's mom, Amy Prunuske, teaches microbiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Wausau. She studies diseases that ticks carry. Owen, though, is known as a citizen scientist. Citizen scientists are people -young or old-who help collect data for research projects. They usually aren't professional scientists, or if they are, not in the field of the project. Still, their work can be incredibly important. Citizen scientists can help trained scientists gather data from all over the world-even from space. They can provide new ideas and new ways of thinking.Kids often make great citizen scientists because they tend to be curious and good at following precise directions. Sometimes they're even better at these things than adults. And schools are convenient places for scientists to recruit big groups of helpers. As a bonus, citizen science often gets kids more excited about science.Citizen science takes advantage not just of many sets of eyeballs, but also of many minds. When professional European scientists in Austria were trying to find how best to encourage people to use less energy, they partnered with student citizen scientists. The adult scientists had a long list of questions for people about how much energy they used. Right away, the students noticed someproblems the adults hadn't thought of. There were too many questions, the kids said. And some of those questions were too complicated. The day in the backyard, Owen found two black-legged ticks, animals so tiny they're often hard to see. He and his mom took the pests to a summer program she was teaching. There, he and other young citizen scientists tested the ticks for the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, which causes fever and headaches and can make a person extremely tired.21. Why did Owen go to catch ticks with his mom?A. To provide data for professional scientists.B. To prepare for his own future research.C. To help her study the diseases carried by ticks.D. To prevent ticks from spreading diseases.22. What do we learn from paragraph 4?A. Citizen science is mostly carried out at school.B. Students only help find answers to basic questions.C. Student scientists are more creative in scientific research.D. Young citizen scientists help professional scientists a lot.23. Which of the following is the best title for the text?A. Scientists Find New Ways of Research.B. Kids Make Great Citizen Scientists.C. Scientists Need New Ideas from Kids.D. Kids Show Great Interest in Science.BWhen people are rude to their co-workers or treat them badly, they probably don't realize the unintended victims in the encounter could be the co-workers' children. Women who experience incivility the workplace are more likely to engage in stricter, more authoritarian parenting practices that can have a negative impact on their children, according to the research presented at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association."These findings reveal some previously undocumented ways that women, in particular, suffer as a result of workplace aggression," said researcher Angela Dionisi, PhD, of Carleton University. This research also speaks to a previously unacknowledged group of indirect incivility victims, namely children.Workplace incivility is any behavior that is disrespectful, impolite or otherwise goes against workplace standards of respect, according to coauthor Kathryne Dupre, PhD, of Carleton University. "We now know that the outcomes of workplace incivility are vast and negative," said Dupre. Survey results showed that incivility in the workplace was associated with mothers feeling less effective as parents, which could help explain the increased need to engage in strict, controlling parenting behavior, said Dupre.Authoritarian parents have high expectations from their children, with rules that they expect their children to follow unconditionally. At the same time, though, they provide very little in the way of feedback and severely punish any mistake, said Dupre. They tend to have lots of regulations and micromanage almost every aspect of their children's lives, valuing discipline over fun."Research suggests that authoritarian parenting is more of a negative style of parenting as compared to other parenting styles. This style of parenting has been associated with a variety of negative child outcomes, including exhibiting aggressive behavior outside the home, being fearful or overly shy around others, having difficulty in social situations due to a lack of social competence," she said.24. Which of the following is the closest in meaning to the underlined word "incivility" in Paragraph 1?A. Rudeness.B. Panic.C. Violence.D. Argument.25. Which of the following is NOT a feature of authoritarian parents?A. They tend to be too strict with their children.B. They set high standards for their children to reachC. They want to keep their children's life under control.D. They attach equal importance to discipline and fun.26. What is the main idea of the passage?A. The cause of more authoritarian parents.B. The harm of workplace incivility to children.C. The different styles of parenting practices.D. The effects of high expectations from children.CIt is no secret that physical activity is necessary to a person's well-being. Because children are continuously developing physically and emotionally, they are especially affected by the benefits of activity. Former First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move initiative reports that nearly one-third of US children are overweight or obese, and that "schools are a key setting for kids to get their 60 minutes of play with moderate activity, given the significant portion(部分)of time they spend there."Physical education programs in schools directly benefit students' physical health. Regular exercise promotes muscles and bone development. In addition to participating in physical activity, students in P.E. learn the fundamentals of a healthful lifestyle, the building blocks upon which they can develop into healthy, knowledgeable adults.Though the lack of attention on RE. is often justified as an opportunity to spend more time in the classroom, studies show that physical activity contributes to improved academic performance. Regular activity during the school day is strongly associated with higher concentration levels. A statewide policy in North Carolina requires that children from kindergarten to eighth grade participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day.Activities in P.E. help children develop healthful social interactions. From a young age, children learn cooperation through group activities and form a positive sense of identity as part of a team. Such group activities arc continually important as children grow older. The International Platform on Sport and Development states that sport has been used as a practical tool to engage young people in their communities through volunteering, resulting in higher levels of leadership and community engagement among young people. The benefits of P.E. to a child's mental health are both complex and comprehensive. Improved physical health, academics and social interactions all contribute to good mental health. Physical activity sets the stage for a good night's sleep, provides more energy to participate in hobbies and interact with others.27. The first paragraph implies thatA. children are becoming much lazier nowadaysB. some schools have forbidden physical activityC. most parents are dissatisfied with school educationD. schools must pay more attention to physical education28. Physical education is ignored in a way because .A. children dislike taking physical activityB. schools are worried about children's safetyC. students should have more time for studyD. less sporting equipment is available to school children29. Which is NOT a benefit of P.E. classes?A. They assure you of a successful future.B. They keep your mind in a good state.C. They help you focus on your studies.D. They do good to your social skills.30. What is the author's possible attitude towards the policy in North Carolina?A. Sceptical.B. Favorable.C. Ambiguous.D. Objective.第二节:(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Ow en’s mom, Amy Prunuske, teaches microbiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Wausau. She studies diseases that ticks carry. Owen, though, is known as a citizen scientist. Citizen scientists are people—young or old—who help collect data for research projects. They usually aren’t professional scientists, or if they are, not in the field ofthe project. Still, their work can be incredibly important. Citizen scientists can help trained scientists gather data from all over the world—even from space. They can provide new ideas and new ways of thinking.Kids often make great citizen scientists because they tend to be curious and good at following precise directions. Sometimes they’re even better at these things than adults. Right away, the students noticed some pr oblems the adults hadn’t thought of. There were too many questions, the kids said. And some of those questions were too complicated. The day in the backyard, Owen found two black-legged ticks, animals so tiny they’re often hard to see. He and his mom took the pests to a summer program she was teaching. There, he and other young citizen scientists tested the ticks for the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, which causes fever and headaches and can make a person extremely tired.1. Why did Owen go to catch ticks with his mom?A. To provide data for professional scientists.B. To prepare for his own future research.C. To help her study the diseases carried by ticks.D. To prevent ticks from spreading diseases.2. What do we learn from paragraph 4?A. Citizen science is mostly carried out at school.B. Students only help find answers to basic questions.C. Student scientists are more creative in scientific research.D. Young citizen scientists help professional scientists a lot3. Which of the following is the best title for the text?A. Scientists Find New Ways of ResearchB. Kids Make Great Citizen ScientistsC. Scientists Need New Ideas from KidsD. Kids Show Great Interest in Science 【答案】1. C 2. D 3. B【解析】【分析】这是一篇记叙文。

AI don’t ever want to talk about being a woman scientist again. There was a time in my life when people asked constantly for stories about what it’s like to work in a field controlled by men. I was never very good at telling those stories because truthfully I never found them interesting. What I do find interesting is the origin of the universe, the shape of space-time and the nature of black holes. At 19, when I began studying astrophysics, it did not bother me in the least to be the only woman in the classroom. But while earning my Ph.D. at MIT and then as a post-doctor doing space research, the issue started to bother me. My every achievement — jobs, research papers, awards — was viewed from the angle of gender(性别). So were my failures. Then one day a few years ago, out of my mouth came a sentence that would eventually become my reply to any and all provocations(挑衅): I don’t talk about that anymore. It took me 10 years to get back the confidence I had at 19 and to realize that I didn’t want to deal with gender issues. Why should curing sexism be yet another terrible burden on every female scientist?Today I research and teach at Barnard, a women’s college in New York City. Recently, someone asked me how many of the 45 students in my class were women. You cannot imagine my satisfaction at being able to answer, 45. I know some of my students worry how they will manage their scientific research and a desire for child ren. And I don’t dismiss those concerns. Instead, I have given them this: the visual of their physics professor heavily pregnant doing physics experiments. And in turn they have given me the image of 45 women driven by a love of science. And that’s a sight worth talking about.21. Why doesn’t the author want to talk about being a woman scientist again?A. She finds space research more important.B. She is not good at telling stories of the kind.C. She is fed up with the issue of sexual discrimination.D. She feels unhappy working in male-controlled fields.22. According to Paragraph 2, what bothered the author constantly?A. People’s fixed attitude toward female scientists.B. Lack of confidence in succeeding in space science.C. Widespread misunderstanding about her space research.D. Unfair treatment from both inside and outside her circle.23. What does the underlined sentence convey?A. Women should do science experiments while having a baby.B. Women can balance a career in science and having a family.C. Women now have fewer problems pursuing a science career.D. Women have more barriers on their way to academic success.BWhen we think of animals and plants, we have a pretty good way of dividing them into two distinct groups: one turns sunlight into energy and the other has to eat food to make its energy. Well, those dividing lines come crashing down with the discovery of a sea slug(海蛞蝓)that is truly half animal and half plant. It’s pretty unbelievable how it has managed to steal the genes of the algae(海藻)on which it feeds. The slugs can use the stolen genes to produce chlorophyll(叶绿素), which gets energy from sunlight, and hold these genes within their bodies. And so far, this green sea slug is the only known animal that can be truly considered solar-powered. Many scientists have studied the green sea slugs toconfirm that they are actually able to create energy from sunlight. In fact, the slugs use the genetic material so well and they pass it on to their further generations. The babies keep the ability to produce their own chlorophyll, though they can’t produce energy from sunlight until they’ve eaten enough algae to steal the necess ary genes.“There is no way on earth that genes from algae should work inside animal cells,” says Sidney Pierce from the University of South Florida. “And yet here, they do. They allow the animal to rely on sunshine for its nutrition. So if something happens to their food source, they have a way of not starving to death until they find more algae to eat.”The sea slugs are so good at gathering energy from the sun that they can live up to 9 months without having to eat any food. They get all their nutritional needs met by the stolen genes.24. What enables the sea slug to live like a plant?A. The genes it gets from the sea plant algae.B. The nutrients it obtains from other animals.C. The energy it steals from the sea plant algae.D. The chlorophyll it receives from its ancestors.25. What can we infer about a sea slug from the text?A. It looks like both a plant and an animal.B. It gets energy from both food and sunlight.C. It can produce energy on its own since birth.D. It cannot pass the stolen genes to its baby slugs.26. What does Sidney Pierce say about genes from an algae?A. They are stolen from animals like the sea slug.B. They can’t function unless exposed to sunlight.C. They don’t usually function inside animal cells.D. They can readily be transformed to sea slug genes.CProfessor Ashok Goel of Georgia Tech developed an artificially intelligent teaching assistant to help handle the numerous questions from students in the online class. Professor Goel already had 8 teaching assistants, but that wasn’t enough to deal with the huge number of questions from students. Many students drop out of online courses for lack of teaching support. When students feel confused and reach out with questions that go unanswered, their motivation to continue begins to fade. Professor Goel decided to do something to change this situation by creating a virtual(虚拟的)assistant named Jill Watson, which is based on the IBM Watson platform.Goel and his team developed several versions of Jill Watson before releasing her to the online forums(论坛). At first, the virtual assistant wasn’t too great. But Goel and his team sourced the online discussion forum to find all 40, 000 questions that had ever been asked since the class started. Then they began to feed Jill with the questions and answers. After some adjustment, Jill was able to answer the students’ questions correctly 97% of the time. The virtual assistant became so advanced and realistic that the students didn’t know she was a computer. The students, who were study ing artificial intelligence, were interacting with artificial intelligence and couldn’t tell it apart from a real human being. Goel didn’t inform them about Jill’s true identity until April 26. The students were actually very positive about the experience. The goal of Professor Goel’s virtual assistant next year is to take over answering 40% of all questions raised by students. The name, Jill Watson will of course, change to something else next term. Professor Goel has a much rosier outlook on the future of AI than say, Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates or SteveWozniak.27. Professor Goel created a virtual teaching assistant because .A. his course was not interesting enoughB. he felt confused about how to teach onlineC. students’ questi ons were too many to handleD. his students were unsatisfied with the assistants28. What do we learn about Jill Watson?A. She turned out to be a great success.B. She was unwelcome to students at first.C. Her true identity was still a secret to students.D. Her name will be kept for the next virtual assistant.29. What does Professor Goel plan to do next with Jill Watson?A. Replace her with different versions.B. Enable her to answer more questions.C. Recommend her to some famous people.D. Equip her with new questions and answers.30. What’s the main idea of the text?A. A robot named Jill Watson gives an online course.B. Robots will take humans’ place in online classes in the future.C. A virtual teaching assistant is getting popular among the students.D. A virtual teaching assistant helps solve online questions in large quantities.第二节:(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
