The recent decade has witnessed a(an) extraordinary phenomenon that the middle school students extremely don’t like to read books other than their text books. For example, we would rather sleep, watch TV or play computer games than read some novels, magazines or newspapers. From my perspective, it is undoubtedly harmful for them to do so.

最近十年已经见证了一个不同寻常的现象/中学生极端不喜欢读书/除了他们的教科书。例如，我们宁愿睡觉、看电视或者玩电脑游戏，也不愿意读一些小说、杂志或报纸。在我观点看来，这件事是毫无疑问地有害/对于他们/去这么做。

As for the reasons, first and foremost, we modern individuals are sometimes so busy, as well as lazy, that we are not available to acquire new

knowledge. Additionally, we human beings are, normally, too proud to understand the true meaning of study. Last but not least, more often than not, we find that it is the lack of true belief and faith that lead to countless troubles like this one.

至于理由呢，首先也是最重要的一件事，我们当代人有时候如此的忙碌又懒惰，以至于我们没空获取新知识。更进一步而言，我们人类，正常而言，太骄傲以至于不能理解真正的意义/学习的。最后但不是最不重要的事儿，经常，我们发现/正是真正信念与信仰的缺失...导致了无尽的麻烦/像这个一样。

Practical and effective measures must be put into practice immediately to improve the current situation. For one thing, it is beneficial for us to be as modest as possible, so that we are always ready to learn new things. For another, it is high time that we set a goal for our own reading. With these suggestions carried out, a much brighter future would be not only possible but inevitable.

实际且有效的措施必须被执行/立刻/去改善当前的情况。一方面，这件事是有益的/对于我们/去/尽可能谦虚/以便我们总是准备好/去学习新东西。另一方面，真的到了我们设定一个目标/对于我们自己的阅读/的时间了。伴随着这些建议被执行，一个更加光明的未来将不但是可能的，而且是不可避免的。

Dear Mayor,

How are you doing? I am LiHua, a 17-year-old teenager currently studying in a high school, who is crazy about reading. Recently, I learned in your micro-blog that you would like to cultivate your citizens’interests and broaden our horizons. So, I am writing to suggest a reading club be held in our city.

As for the reasons, for one thing, reading is undoubtedly both meaningful and entertaining, considering that it will enable us to know more about ourselves, about others and about the society. For another, it can teach us how to face challenges, overcome difficulties, achieve our goals and realize our

dreams;accordingly, it is beneficial for our physical and mental health.

Dear Alvin,

How are you doing? Recently, I have received your last letter asking me about my view on the smog in China. Now, I am writing to tell you what I think.

There are three main reasons accounting for this. First and foremost, it is obvious
