1. M: What do you think of Sandy, Millie?

W: She is inactive. She doesn’t like singing but she likes reading.

M: I did nothing but study. I did a lot of reading.

4. M: Watching TV for too long is not good for our health. Let’s go and play

badminton.

M: I’d like a pen. I want the cheapest one.

6. M: When did you arrive at the cinema?

W: At ten to nine. The film had been on for 30 minutes.

W: Go along this street, and turn left. You’ll see the bank next to the post office.

W: You won’t believe it. I bought it three and a half years ago.

9. W: Jim, is Tom good at swimming?

M: Yes, but Mike is better than Tom at swimming.

W: Yes, they must. The light is bad for their eyes.

W: I work during the day, so I’d like the evening class.

Last Saturday Mr. White and his wife went to the farm. They got home very late. Mr. White opened the front door and they went into the house. It was very dark, so Mr. White turned on the lights. On the way upstairs Mrs. White said, "Listen. I can hear someone in the bedroom." They went downstairs again and stood quietly outside the room.

"Yes, you're right," said Mr White. "There are two boys there. They are talking!" Then he called out, "Who is there?" But nobody answered. Mr white opened the door and quickly turned on the light. The room was empty, then he saw something and laughed. The radio was still on. "Oh, dear!" he said, "I forgot to turn off the radio this morning."
