石敢当用脚一踢，踢翻了锅，灯光一亮，十二个童男童女就一齐敲锣打鼓。
妖怪一进屋，看见灯光一亮，就闪出屋，朝南方跑了，上了福建。
所以福建有的农户又被妖风缠住了身体。
怎么办呢？人家就打听，后来，听说泰山有个石敢当，能治妖，就把他请去了。
他又用这个办法，妖怪一看又跑了，就上了东北。
东北又有个姑娘得了这个病，又来请石敢当。
他想：“我拿他一回儿，他就跑得很远，全国这么大地方，我也跑不过来。
这样吧，泰山石头很多，我找石匠打上我的家乡和名字泰山石敢当’，谁家闹妖气，你就把它放在谁家的墙上，那妖就跑了。
” 以后就传开了，说妖怪怕“泰山石敢当”，只要你找块石头或砖头，在上面刻上“ 泰山石敢当”，妖怪就不敢来了。

泰山石敢当习俗分布的地区十分广泛。
以泰山地区为中心，逐渐扩散到全国各地（包括台湾省、港澳地区和西南少数民族地区）和东亚的日本、韩国及东南亚和世界各地的华侨居住地。
现在在中国各地，我们经常可以看到“泰山石敢当”的各种碑刻，这些大小不等，形状各异的石刻，或立于房基之上，或立于桥头要冲，或立于胡同巷口，或镶嵌于衙门照壁和豪门大户的影壁墙上，或立于庙宇前庭，或立于百姓门口，或把泰山石敢当人格化以“石将军”、“石大夫”、“石老爷”的称谓加以供奉，或制作成门神贴在或钉在门上让它看家护院等。

“泰山石敢当”习俗起源于上古时期的灵石崇拜。
先后经了早期泰山石敢当的萌芽阶段、泰山石敢当的变异阶段和泰山石敢当信仰的兴盛期诸阶段。
特别是从宋金时期开始，泰山石敢当信仰与东岳泰山崇拜更加紧密结合，由“石敢当”发展到“泰山石敢当”。
它的职功能也经历了从最早的“镇宅”到“化煞”再到“治病”、“门神”、“辟邪”、“防风”等功能的转变；在历史的演变中，关于泰山石敢当的神话故事也在各地演绎成多种版本。
石敢当信仰的传播是由刻写“石敢当”或者“泰山石敢当”的碑刻、石像等与民间口传的神话故事、传说以及戏曲等形式共同存在的；传说黄帝时代，蚩尤残暴，头角无人能敌，所触之物，玉石难存，黄帝屡遭惨败。

泰山石敢当的民间传说(二)
石敢当救驾
太封元年，汉武帝于东巡泰山封禅，路经泰山 政治文化中心奉高县。此县城东临红紫湖，城 南之汶河水势浩淼，东海的水兽时常沿河上下 出没，危害生灵。汉武帝乘船过河时，由当地 桥沟石敢当护驾。船行至中心，突然上游狂风 大作，波浪滔天，水势汹汹，武帝大惊。这时 石敢当立于船首，手执宣花板斧大喝一声： “石某在此，休得猖獗！”河面立时风平浪静， 汉武帝安全无恙地到达对岸。 来到奉高，文武百官为武帝压惊。武帝问 左右救驾者何人？有人说是石闾山下石敢当。 武帝视其人非凡，又是石姓，石闾山必定蕴藏 着天地之灵气，于是在泰山亟顶立石闾山石封 之，四月返东海禅石闾。 闾者，巷也。迷信的说法，谁家的宅子若 冲街巷便犯了路剑，家中就不得安宁。泰山石 敢当石刻为什么立于巷首，便不言而喻了。

泰山石敢当的由来
关于“石敢当”的文字记载，最早见于西 汉史游的《 急就章 》：“师猛虎，石敢 当，所不侵，龙未央”。颜师古注：“卫 有石蜡、石买、石恶，郑有石制，皆为石 氏；周有石速，齐有石之纷如，其后以命 族 。敢当， 所向无敌也。”颜氏认为， 石是姓，敢当为所向无敌意。
另一种说法是：认为石敢当是五代汉时的 勇士。明人陈断儒的《群碎录》云：“五 代汉刘智远时，有勇士名石敢当，其慕古 人名以自表见耶？仰即其人与？”
天神女娲补天之余残石，选护法金刚 力士之精魂，植入其中。其主石置于 泰山之顶，其余碎者散于山下河塘之 间，谓之“石敢当”。经过开脸、开 眼之石敢当，石内精魂感妖气而动， 凡有妖近者皆以金刚之力除之。岁月 悠悠，历时数千载，石中灵气愈发强 盛，世人皆知其功用法门。如遇妖煞 复而蠢动，必将被其斩杀之。泰山石 敢当其心性与岱岳相通，有缘者可于 泰山中寻得灵石，唤出其金刚之力， 或降妖，或护体，功效不一而足，其 石冠其“泰山”之名，倍加神威之功 效，其上篆有“石敢当”三字，以此 为其主辟邪挡煞、开运纳福。有文曰： “石敢当，镇百鬼，厌灾殃。官吏福， 百姓康。风教壮士，靠狩猎、打 柴为生。曾从师习武，英勇过人。一天他进城卖 柴，见贴有王员外的告示：谁能为他家降妖，愿 将女儿许配为妻。原来王员外有一千金小姐， “养在深闺人未识”，不幸被一妖精作祟，王员 外请牛鼻子老道设坛捉妖，被妖精一脚踢下坛来， 跌得头破血流。无奈才张榜求救。石敢当见义勇 为，决心除害，他持宝剑藏在小姐房中，当妖精 进来时，他举剑大喝一声：“泰山石敢当在此！” 妖精一听，吓得驾起妖风狼狈逃走。事后，王员 外并不像《西厢记》里的老夫人———贼走关门 不认账，令张生空喜一场，而是把小姐亲自送上 泰山，和石敢当成了亲，小两口过起了美满日子。 谁知妖精逃走后，又跑到别村去祸害。村民听说 石敢当能驱妖，便来请他。可是，石敢当往这村 赶，妖精又跑到那村去，人与妖展开“游击战”。 后来，聪明的妻子对他说：“何不把你的名字刻 在石碑上，放在宅墙上，兴许能驱妖呢。”石敢 当听了觉得有理，忙把这主意告诉大家。于是家 家立起了石碣。

相传古代认为东岳泰山之石具 有独特的灵性和神力，因此泰 山石敢当是一种灵石崇拜。传 说汉朝时汉武帝登泰山，带回 四块泰山石，置未央宫的四角 以辟邪。泰山被认为有保佑国 家的神功，因此泰山的石头就 被认为有保佑家庭的神灵。后 来泰山石被人格化，姓石名敢 当，又称石将军，后来还发展 出了雕刻有人像的石敢当。

泰山石敢当可以根据不同的需要摆 放在不同的位置，可以称他为最随 和，最任劳任怨的一尊家神，他不 需要像其他神像一样上香上供，却 会始终如一的给家人化解不利的因 素，让我们安居乐业。具体安放的 情况分为以下三类： ⒈如果房屋有缺角可以按照下 面的图示位置摆放，让泰山石敢当 带字的一面面向缺角的方向即可。 ⒉如果用泰山石敢当来镇宅， 可以把泰山石敢当摆放于客厅、书 房或者卧室，一般首选客厅。 ⒊如果用泰山石敢当来挡煞， 可以摆放于面向煞气的方向。
