Lesson 43：Directions

教学目标

1、能够掌握课标要求的“四会”词汇：direction，north，south，east，west，point，country，grandparent，U.S.。

2、让学生了解如何介绍方向。

3、让学生了解询问位置和应答的方法。

4、让学生理解介绍方向的句型。

教学内容

1、了解询问方向的常用语并学习相关的单词和短语。

2、学习一些用于询问位置和应答的句子，如：

（1）Where is New Zealand？

（2）It is north of the U.S.

（3）It's green on the map!

3、学习句型“Where is …?”的用法。

重点难点

1、掌握一些与询问位置和应答有关的词汇：this，point，up，down，lef t，right。

2、激发学生兴趣，让学生运用所学知识表演询问位置和应答的情景。

3、掌握以下重点句子：

（1）North points up on a map.

East points right.

West points left.

South points down.

(2)We can see all the countries around the world.

(3)It's southeast of China.

(4)It is green on the map!

教学思路

本课主要涉及询问位置和应答的词汇和句型。在授课之前先让学生通过询问位置表演了解本课要点。课上可让学生通过小组合作的形式相互交流；在此基础上，教师通过幻灯片、图片向学生展示不同的地点，并让学生用英语进行问答。教学准备

教学过程

Step1:Lead-in

Lead-in by discussing the following question:

1.Where does east point on a map?

2.What colour is China on a map?

3.Where is Australia?

Discuss the questions in groups.

The teacher shows a map of the world and asks the stud ents to answer these questions.

Ask the students to talk about them for three minutes a nd then let them present their answers in class.

Step2:Listening

Listen to the tape and find the answers to the question s:

1.Where does south point?

2.When will Wang Mei's grandparents go to New Zealand?

3.Wtat colour is Canada on the map?

Finish the task in class orally.

Step3:Reading

Read the lesson and decide the statements are true or f alse.

1.Australia is southeast of New Zealand.

2.Canada is north of the U.S.

Finish the task in class orally.

Step4:Activities

1.Greet with friends in groups.Make up a dialogue betwee

n three or four students .Then present it in front of th
